"Thanks, though I should let you know that I already have a boyfriend," he said, his tone light and teasing. It was clear that he didn't have a problem with the comment. If anything, he seemed amused by it, judging by the fact that he had teased him about it. All joking aside, it was time to get down to business.

First things first, he needed to ask about the position he would be going for. While he waited for a response, he felt Tempest brush up against his leg. He had almost forgotten that he had instructed Tempest to lead potential employees to his office. She must have stayed after leading the potential employee to him.

He absentmindedly started to pet Tempest when the potential employee finally responded. As he mentioned being able to cook, his expression became pensive. While he wanted to take his word for it, he couldn't for obvious reasons. He couldn't just allow anyone who claimed they could cook to work at his restaurant without knowing for himself if it was true or not. It would be bad for business if he hired him as a cook and it turned out he couldn't actually cook.

Lost in thought, he almost missed the appearance of the Riolu. The cry alone confirmed what the Pokémon was before the older man mentioned the species. Though it had helped he knew what a Riolu sounded like considering he had one of his own. "You don't nickname your Pokémon," he blurted out, his face heating up slightly when he realized how that might have sounded.

"That aside, I'm afraid I can't just take your word for it. I would have to check for myself if you can actually cook. I can see how you do in either situation. While I mostly cook, I've had to fill in as a waiter a time or two when we were short-staffed, something I'm not too fond of for obvious reasons."

Being blind, he didn't really care for the waiting aspect of things. Not because it was particularly hard, but because he didn't like being up front. The noise level alone could cause him to go into sensory overload if he wasn't careful.[break] Damian Belle

While he waited, he decided to review a list of items in the inventory. Since he had nothing else to occupy his time, he wanted to assess what items they had in abundance and what they needed to restock. Fortunately, there was a braille version of the list available, so he didn't have to rely on his memory to recall what they were running low on.

As he was engrossed in his task, he was interrupted by approaching footsteps outside his office. He quickly set the paper aside just as his office door swung open. The comment from the older man caught him off guard, and he wasn't sure whether he should take offense or not. In reality, he considered himself to be of average height and weight, so he couldn't quite grasp the intention behind the remark.

Deciding to let it slide, he chose to proceed with the conversation. "Thank you for your interest. My name is Shinobu Fujimori, the owner and head chef of this establishment. However, if my name is difficult for you to pronounce, you can simply call me Shin," he said to the older man, offering a small smile that didn't quite reach his eyes. His gaze remained devoid of emotion.

"Anyway, is there a specific position you're interested in?" he asked, eager to move forward with the interview. He hoped the applicant had a particular role in mind, as it would streamline the process. Hades was surprisingly docile for a Zweilous, rarely displaying aggression unless he felt his trainer was threatened. Fortunately, his aggression was only directed towards other Pokémon. However, he worried that there might come a time when he would become aggressive towards a person out of fear that something would happen to him. While he appreciated his Pokémon's protective nature, he didn't want them to go too far and harm someone.

In an attempt to help Hades with his temperament, he had requested training for him and someone named Shalin had agreed to help. After confirming the meeting location with his aunt, they decided to meet near Fortree along route 120. The specific location didn't matter to him as long as it allowed Hades to burn off some excess energy through exercise.

Feeling a bit nervous, he decided to ride Tempest to the meeting place while allowing Hades to fly overhead. Once they reached the meeting point, he dismounted Hades but kept one hand on Tempest to ground himself. Despite his nerves, he couldn't help but feel curious. It was this curiosity that had initially led him to learn how to ride Pokémon, and now he was quite accustomed to it, at least when it came to riding on land.[break] Shalin Nariya

He knew it was strange that a blind person would want to attend a play, but he was feeling a bit nostalgic. If this conversation had taken place a few years ago, he definitely wouldn't have chosen to go to a play. Anything that reminded him of his sister had been painful, so he had avoided it. However, he was now at a stage where thinking of his sister didn't make it feel hard to breathe.

As he spoke about his brother, he couldn't help but feel sorry for the other male. Yes, he had gotten the impression that his brother was a bit reserved, though not as reserved as that one guy he had met. What was his name again? Emery? No, that wasn't right. Evan? Nope, though he felt he was getting closer. Ever? Yeah, that was it.

"Sorry to hear that. It sounds like the opposite of my own parents. They were pretty confident that I could be a good trainer and complete the gym challenge. Maybe a little too confident," he admitted with a small shrug. Don't get him wrong, he loved his parents, but they had been a bit overbearing in telling him he would go far in life. If he was being honest with himself, there had always been a lot of pressure on him to make something of himself. That was probably why he was such a workaholic today.

As they left the restaurant and made their way to the play's location, silence fell between them. It was a comfortable silence, though. Getting to their destination took longer than he had expected, but considering they were confirmed to be late, he figured they had gotten a bit turned around.

Luckily, they were allowed entry despite the play already starting. He allowed Kee to lead them to their seats. As they sat down, he could actually focus on what the play was about, and funny enough, it was about the Three Swords of Justice in Unova.

Since he couldn't see, all he could do was listen. And he took the opportunity to see how accurate they were. Despite the fact that they were missing one, they were actually pretty accurate. Though he was sure his sister would have called them out from the start. The thought made him let out a low chuckle.

Realizing that the chuckle was somewhat unexpected, he whispered an explanation to the other teenager. "If they had done this in a play my sister attended, she would have called them out from the start. After putting on the white turtleneck and the dark blue jeans that his aunt wanted him to wear, he slipped on some black sneakers and made his way to the restaurant with Tempest by his side. As he walked, he rested one hand on the back of the Manectric, allowing it to guide him towards the restaurant.

Although the restaurant was closed for the day, he still had to go in. Due to being understaffed, he and a few of his employees had to take on additional tasks to make up for it. This only happened when his family couldn't help out at the restaurant. However, all of them had their own jobs, and he didn't like burdening them with more work. That's why he had decided to finally make time to interview potential employees for his restaurant.

This would be his first time conducting interviews by himself. Usually, his aunt would assist him, but something had come up at the last minute. Not wanting to cancel, he reassured his aunt that he could handle the interviews on his own. After all, he couldn't keep putting this off forever. He couldn't expect to continue waiting tables and cooking indefinitely.

Upon reaching the restaurant, he instructed Tempest to wait at the entrance and guide any potential employees to him. Once that was settled, he entered the restaurant and made his way to his office. Leaving the door partially open, he sat behind his desk and waited for the potential new employee to arrive.

Listening to what he had to say, he nodded in agreement. The main obstacles that usually prevented people from accomplishing things were unexpected events or lack of time. There never seemed to be enough hours in the day, and after a long day of work, no one wanted to clean. That's why he tried to schedule cleaning days when both he and another family member had the day off. However, whenever the scheduled day arrived, something would always come up, forcing them to go to work.

After admitting that he didn't know much about Dewford, Kee started suggesting a few places they could visit. According to Kee, Dewford didn't have much to offer, which was expected considering its small size.

The idea of watching a play intrigued him, even if he wouldn't be able to see what was happening. He could still listen and enjoy it. It had been a while since he had been to a play, probably when he was thirteen or fourteen. Although he didn't mind plays, he was more into the sports entertainment that Nimbasa in Unova had to offer.

"A play wouldn't be too bad. My sister was really into them. She would often try to act them out weeks after we had seen one," he chuckled. "Nimbasa, back in Unova, is known for its plays and sports. Some people prefer plays, while others prefer sports. I leaned more towards sports myself, but I didn't mind plays. Hearing his comment, he nodded in agreement. He had never intended for things to be like this, for him to become a workaholic. But he had been raised to strive for what he wanted, to give everything he had to make his dreams come true. And he did. It didn’t really help that his parents had also fallen into the workaholic category. Well, at least they had until it had been discovered that his sister had cancer. After that, they had put work on hold, although he had never understood why they had done so since they both had careers that they could do from home.

As much as he liked to think he wasn’t like his parents, he was actually more like them than he cared to admit. Which was why he was a workaholic and could be a bit stubborn about it as well. However, unlike his parents, he wasn’t going to wait for some kind of tragedy to change that aspect about himself. Unlike his parents, he would allow those around him to advise and would listen to them.

So when he said he would look into getting more free time, he meant it. And as he brought up not having fully unpacked even after a year, he realized just how much his work had been interfering with things. He really did need to take some time to get things sorted. And it seemed that he and Keenan were on the same page, which was amusing since he hadn’t really said anything. If he didn’t know any better, he would think the other teen had read his mind.

“Really, that would be great. Usually, whenever plans are made to get to it, something comes up,” he admitted, seeming amused by the whole thing, then annoyed.

After that, it didn’t take long for them to finish their meal. His question got him thinking, and he considered all the places they could visit. “I’ll be honest, I don’t know much about Dewford. Is there any place you would recommend checking out?”[break] Keenan Toral

As he confirmed that tea would do he nodded before pouring another glass. Once that was done he put the pitcher of tea back into the refrigerator and took the drinks to the table. He would then return to the kitchen to help bring the food to the table. None of this would take long and soon enough the table was fully set.

“Cheers,” he returned before taking a bite. The food was good and he swallowed his bite of food before speaking. “If you want the recipe for anything I can get it for you. My aunt wrights them down so she can make them on her own. I’m sure she wouldn’t mind making a copy,” he told him as he mixed butter and bacon bits into his potato. [break] Aaron Toral

"If that were an actual club, I feel like there would be a good number of members," he said with a chuckle. It wasn't uncommon for people to be a bit socially awkward, though he wouldn't say he himself was socially awkward, at least not in normal circumstances. Compliments, especially of the flirtatious variety, usually had him stumbling over his words and sometimes mixing them up as well.

Hearing his comment, he chuckled. "Sounds like something I would do. That or I would fumble my words," he admitted sheepishly, rubbing the back of his neck. "My aunt thinks it's really funny. Though I must admit, I've gotten more used to compliments about my food," he explained, his expression thoughtful.

"I think the worst time was when I was first starting to learn to cook. I accidentally called my friend's mom 'mom' when she asked me if I had thought of pursuing cooking as a career. I panicked and said 'yes, mom' instead of 'yes, ma'am.' That was really embarrassing, but she understood it was an accident," he told him with a small, amused smile. It could have been worse. He could have said that to a complete stranger.

Listening to what he had to say, he nodded. The older teen didn't have to explain what worse would be; he knew what it would entail. Unbidden, his sister came to mind, and he mentally shook himself to clear his thoughts. It had been three years, but he still struggled with what had happened. Knowing it was coming had made things worse, in his opinion.

"That's a shame. I couldn't imagine what that's like," he told him. Sometimes life was just too cruel, like someone being born with an incurable disease. Though, if you asked him, the way the world was, someone suffered one way or another. No one was free from suffering, but that was just his opinion.

As the older teen spoke about common sense, he couldn't help but wince. "About some things," he said with a sigh. "Of course, if I was always using common sense, I would have worn a helmet when playing baseball. That's why I'm blind; I got hit in the head with a baseball. Not that I remember much about that. The last thing I remember was agreeing to play a game of baseball. Though the doctors said a bit of memory loss was common with a head injury."

His correlation between redheads and anesthesia had confused him, but he had nodded absently before he told him about the reason he was blind. It wasn't something he cared to think about too much. Being blind wasn't something he cared about. What got him was how careless he had been. But then again, none of them had ever thought to wear helmets since it was only supposed to be a friendly game among friends.

Deciding not to think too much about it, he moved on with the conversation. He listened to his explanation about the name and nodded. 'Seriously, the things people come up with.'

He had nothing more to say about the name, but luckily the conversation moved on. Hearing that Venus was succeeding, he couldn't help but smile. "She's good at getting people and Pokémon to do as they're told. I have her guard the front of my restaurant. It keeps people from trying anything," he explained, his face turned towards where he knew the Serperior was.

It was clear from the way he spoke that he was quite proud of Venus. She had been his first Pokémon, and due to that, he would always favor her a bit more than he did his other Pokémon.[break] Biscotti Kingsley

Don’t get him wrong he loved cooking. But sometimes after cooking at day for strangers he was just wasn’t in the mood to do it for himself. ”Usually on days I don’t feel like cooking and I don’t feel like going out my aunt when bring something over that she cooked,” he told the other teen. He did enjoy his aunt’s cooking, so it was often something to look forwards to.

He awkwardly rubbed the back of his neck as he called it like it was. Shin knew that he had a tendency to be a workaholic. But to have it pointed out by someone not in his family was kind of embarrassing. It was something that often came up when he was talking to his aunt. And it was because of her that he even had the restaurant closed once a week. If it wasn’t for his aunt he would be working each and every day.

”I suppose I could do that. Would beat another lecture from my aunt about me working to hard. I’ll see about talking with the staff about having a bit more free time,” he promised, though someone would probably have to make sure he actually did that. He often forgot about stuff that could lead to him having more free time, due to his workaholic nature.

Now that that was cleared up he could get on with the whole badge thing. It was actually a little surprising that he would want to see his badges from Unova but he didn’t see a problem with it. ”I’m fine showing you, I’ll just have to unpack them from a box in the attic. It seemed the fish was coming along nicely. Veluza was a lot like other fish when it was fried. It got a bit flakey. Not overly so, it wasn’t bird after off. But enough that it an added a bit of a crunch feel when biting Into it. Most bird Pokémon that are used as food got really crunchy when ate it. And one could actually cook fish and bird similarly if they planned on frying it.

He was pulled out of his thoughts by the younger teens question. He supposed that meant the fish was done. ”Do might grabbing the potatoes from the microwave?” he inquired as he went into the cabinet to get himself a glass before pouring him a cup of tea from the pitcher he had taken out of the refrigerator.

”What do you want to drink? I have tea, water, and different kinds of soda,” as he put the tea pitcher down. While he waited for his response he helped take things to the table and helped divide it evenly between them. Or at least he hoped it was pretty even.
