Another Pokéball?

He had too many of these already! Plus, he was pretty much content with all the ones he already had running around the Sanctuary… though he wouldn’t say no to a new Wooloo or a Pikipek line down the road!

He cackled quietly, as he crammed the Wingull floatie on for the second to the last time this summer and took another dive.

Please be anything else but a Pokéball! he thought as he saw something shiny and made to grab it before resurfacing from the saltwater.

Honestly, he was convinced there was some kind of fucking magic when it came to finding these things underwater.

Looking over the assortment he’d gotten so far, he couldn’t help but be amused with his haul so far—hell, one of them even appeared to be a Mega Stone?

(He just wished he didn’t have an off day like five strange disks in a row! What was that?!)

Either way… he was here for the last few dives of the summer…

And he only had one Wingull floatie left.

With a jarring bump to his side—the challenge had ended in a most glorious clash after the two of them cat and mouse’d each other for several hectic seconds.

“Ahh… you win, pardner,” he called out, lilting his words with the absolute corniest twang he could manage. “Ya won fair an’ square… this time.”

…because who said boys weren’t competitive over petty things like this!

“It’s a one-zero for you,” he added—and right then and there the bump cars ride came to a stop.

“And just in time too, because are you hungry?”

(Cue the embarrassing stomach grumbling noise.)

Oh, but there was yet another surprise—instead of carrying both the Delcatty and the jar of jellybeans, he would then stop for a bit, and then poke the pinkette with the Delcatty plushie.

“This. This is yours,” he continued, looking away all embarrassed and stuff. “You know, for like… signing the stuff I asked,” he added.

Okay, Alex, stop rambling…!

Thankfully they were at the next booth—for now he would watch her try to land one of the six rings on the popping Dugtrio that were hiding and reappearing at completely random moments!

“Whoa, you almost had it there!”

The laughter was just too much!

Who knew the person that set out the jar was a bit of a prankster—and while he was musing through what prize he wanted, he already had an idea as he leaned over and spoke with the one in charge in hushed tones.

Before they knew it, he was now holding a very large, plush Delcatty plushie in his arms. Kind of reminded him of the family cat back home, Papaya, but… this prize wasn’t for him.

And just before they could leave, he was then surprised with another prize…

All six-hundred and ninety of the jelly beans in the jar!

“Wait, what? Are… are you kidding?” he blinked in utter confusion as the jar was handed to him to take back.

“What am I gonna do with six hundred and ninety jelly beans?!”

Oh boy.

The next attack was too much for the Oricorio at least; seeing as she was being ganged up on, the kindly ol’ grampa dragon let out an angered roaring noise as she went down under the combined assault attack of the two Pokémon that were ganging up on her—wait, wasn’t that illegal?

Before she went down under the combined force of the two attacks slamming into her, though, she decided to go out in one final blaze of Revelation Dancing glory; discriminately lashing out and trying to hit whoever was closest before he recalled the yellow avian in a beam of red light.

“Don’t lose your temper, don’t lose your temper, don’t lose your temper…” he muttered to himself as he watched his Drampa… roar. Again. And this time he meant serious business.

While the two were busy ganging up on the Pom-pom Oricorio, he would then approach and begin releasing his anger in a pent-up burst of Outrage, lashing and aiming to attack whoever was closest.

To even the fighting field? Who knows?


Drampa & Oricorio (Pom-pom) is out on the field!

Pom-pon Oricorio get slammed from both directions with attacks; however before being recalled used one last Revelation Dance in a reckless attack; lashing out at whoever is closest!

Drampa finally loses his temper, and proceeds to go on an Outrage of indiscriminate targeting as well!

And it was on!

Unafraid of anything, both the Salamence and Gyarados roared, their respective Intimidate abilities kicking in and targeting each of their opponents on the field.

With a sharp whistle, the Salamence reared upward, never mind if the Steel Wing attack nicked him; it provided him the angle to retaliate with a full-force Flamethrower attack to the Corviknight’s face!

Meanwhile, on the other side of the field—never mind if Hera was a sucker for punishment as she took the Thunder Fang attack head-on, because it also provided her an opening to retaliate with a close-range Ice Beam against the Aerodactyl!

(She’d had her own fair share of fighting with and against his Aerodactyl, Terra, therefore she had a reasonable gauge of how to attack and defend. Never mind if they both had to leap into the air to do proper battle.)


Salamence & Gyarados are out on the field!

Intimidate from both Pokémon activate! Salamence is nicked by one side of the Steel wing and retaliates with a full-force Flamethrower on Corviknight; while Gyarados also takes the attack in stride and releases a close-range Ice Beam attack on Aerodactyl!

“Okay, hold up,” he began, holding up both of his hands in this surprised gesture.

“The Farfetch’d I’m familiar with is this one,” and with a singular whistle, managed to summon the correct Pokémon this time, “…see how different they are?”

For one thing, the… the object that her Farfetch’d was holding was ridiculously larger than the one he owned had. Not to mention, looked even grumpier!

“Uh… are your kind of Farfetch’d supposed to look like really grumpy old men swinging a giant leek around?”

He couldn’t help but ask!

“Hey, Ethan, if you’re there, get me some towels and—” he trailed off to look over at Axel, before asking his guest for the day, “Are you partial to anything? Otherwise I can get one of everything,” before tapping the ear piece once more.

“Get me some tea, and hot chocolate.”

For there was (surprisingly) no covfefe coffee in this house, as he wasn’t a drinker that kind of caffeine!

“And make it quick, can you? Our guest is freezing,” he added before returning his attention to Axel.

“Sorry about that, towels and warm drinks will be out here shortly. So what is it about the Sanctuary you want to know about?”

He mentally crossed his fingers, hoping that he would find a volunteer who would be staying over or something like that.

(A gym trainer was too much to dream for, and besides he was sure would get jealous…)

The moment she mentioned that her Skitty also had a good guess of exactly four jellybeans, he couldn’t help but break out into laughter.

“Ohmygod what was that, even?” he said, mostly in the Skitty’s direction—to be fair, he had no idea if Pokémon could count but a guess was a guess!

Unfortunately, neither of them were right, so the burden of guessing fell to him.

“Hmm, let me see…” he continued as he peered around the sides of the jar… and then coming up with a completely random number on the spot.

“My hot take is that there’s what, six hundred ninety of these jellybeans in there? Give or take a few, considering,” he estimated—and if she was quick enough to notice the joke he’d slipped in there, get another laugh out of her.

The funny thing here was that he’d pulled that number out of his ass—and he was not expecting for the person in charge of the stall to stammer and sputter because…

“You… you, good sir, are actually correct!”

He blinked at that proclamation.

“Wait… what?”

With a skidding motion, he’d flipped the car to coast around the incoming one and attempt to ram him from behind—

  • 2. NEW CONNECTIONS MADE, OLD FRIENDSHIPS REVISITED[break]
    “Time really has a way with messing your perception of reality, doesn’t it?”[break][break]

    Ever since the ‘incident’ that involved him and a lot of other people being warped to an ‘alternate’ version of Galar, he’d returned with… with much more than he could really emotionally handle. Twenty years apart from the person he deeply cares about, in an alternate reality? It can sure do things to you.[break][break]

    Along the way while trapped in Hammerlocke, he’d rekindled old friendships such as the ones with (in the dark of the night) and (a lost queendom, besieged) and found new ones along the way with Miss (two decades in an instant).[break][break]

    Though he wasn’t sure if what happened there did happen, fact of the matter is that he has all the notes to prove it (as seen here between him and in i’m coming home) upon return, and all the mental… anguish that came along with it.[break][break]

    In an effort to get himself back to some semblance of normalcy, Miss pays him a visit (as shown in trauma central) where they have a deep dive discussion about what really happened between themselves in the alternate universe—how some missing things can never be filled (did the kids they adopted along the way really exist) but new friendships have been forged in their place.[break][break]

    During the Funtasia Carnival, he also finds time to reconnect with people he hadn’t heard from in a good while: (them just being idiots in boys just being boys) and (hanging out at the fairgrounds in step right up). Previous friendships are also revisited, like the one with Miss (old friends having a picnic with their Pokémon companions).


  • 3. SEARCHING FOR CLUES[break]
    Until now, he hasn’t found a single shred of any information as to how he can make the Wandering Stormbringer, a.k.a. Tornadus change from his current humanoid form to the one that he saw in the mirror (last seen in journey), so he’s been bringing him along almost everywhere now, especially straight into the heart of League-related business.[break][break]

    Regardless, though, his search for answers continue—even if he has to face one of his most deep-seated fears head on while looking for information on the League’s behalf into the Ultra Deep Sea:

    So far, though, he hasn’t a clue… maybe it has something to do with the feathers? Or are there other conditions that have to be met for him to find answers?
