Him and Dizzy arrived around the end of the battle just in time to watch the younger male almost get crushed by rocks, only being saved due to the Abra using teleport. Always being on guard, his gaze was already scanning their surroundings for the appearance of light, which would be a sign that the younger and the Abra were about to make a reappearance.

Seeing the telltale formation of light, he immediately focused on it, so he was the first to notice that the teleportation was a bit off. Before he could react, it was too late and Zachary and the Abra were plummeting towards the water below. Hitting water from this height could lead to some broken bones if lucky, so the second they fell, he was immediately moving forwards.

Seeing them land safely thanks to the Milotic, he couldn’t help but be relieved. Not that he showed it. Instead, he simply went on his way to meet up with Zachary, figuring Dizzy was following.

He watched the Delphox and younger male reunite, staying quiet as they did so. It didn’t take long until the younger male noticed him though.

“I’m Ever and I found him. I was exploring when I heard him, so I decided to check it out. I thought it might be an injured Pokémon, so I wanted to try and help him. Obviously, he wasn’t injured, but I still have a duty to help any Pokémon in need,” he said impassively.

So he didn't recognize the cry either. That was troubling. It could be anything. Well, maybe not anything.

Still, it was a bit concerning that the cry wasn't one either of them had heard before. That meant they didn't know anything about it. It could possess any number of moves, and that worried him, not that he really showed it.

Apparently, thinking of a number of Pokémon that could be hiding further in the darkness somewhere made his imagination run wild. Because now, it wasn't an unknown Pokémon hiding away somewhere, but his father waiting to pounce.

The older male's voice broke him out of his thoughts, and he blinked before nodding at the older male, not trusting himself to speak. For all the older male knew, he had just decided to glare into the darkness because he didn't like the idea of some unknown Pokémon being down here with him.

His tense body might give away that something was wrong, but he would already be up in the air before the older male could bring attention to it. The last thing he would want is to come off as weak.

Once in the air, he would guide Rook to an attitude that allowed him to have a good vantage point while also being close enough to quickly get to Razz's side in case of an emergency.

Scanning the area around him, he saw nothing.

The ranger who greeted him was someone he had worked with before on a simpler mission. Not bothering to return the greeting verbally, he simply inclined his head as a way of acknowledging the older male. Even on his best days, he wasn't the best at making small talk.

His gaze briefly flickered to the Iron Leaves, but instead of commenting on it, he simply nodded in acknowledgment of the older male's comment. "Works for me, that way we can have more of a warning system if something is approaching," he said as he swung himself back into Rook's saddle.

He was about to take to the skies when a cry caught his attention. Blinking, he turned his gaze to the older ranger. "Did that sound familiar to you?"

So someone important, then, not just some civilian. Not that civilians weren't important. They just weren't working to make Hoenn a better place. They weren't working against Team Rocket to accomplish that. He supposed working against them came with the risk of being taken prisoner by them.

He could imagine lots of terrible things that could be done to him. Just the thought of what could be done to them made him want to immediately rush to their aid. Not that they showed it. Their expression remained completely neutral.

"Of course we will," he said, his own voice filled with certainty, like it had already been decided that they would pull this off. They couldn't fail. He refused to let Team Rocket win in all this.

True, finding them was the issue. It was a shame he didn't have a tracker on his team. Of course, that would require them having something with the person's scent. Something else they didn't have.

Taking another sip of coffee, he glanced briefly over his shoulder to see how Elise was holding up. His upbringing had turned him into a perceptive person, and he noticed the unease immediately. Worried about fear getting the best of the purple-haired woman, he spoke.

Swinging himself into the saddle fitted on Celestia’s back, his gaze flickered to the Iron Leaves, which was Shalin’s own mount. "Seems like someone's ready to get started," he said, his gaze fixed on the prancing Iron Leaves, as if she was just raring to go.

At the mention of going deeper, he frowned. He was sure it would be even colder. Not that he was bothered by the cold. It would also be darker the further down they went, and while he loved Celestia, he knew expecting her to keep Dazzling Gleam lit the whole time they were down here would be beyond cruel.

"We should be fine as long as we stick together," he said a bit awkwardly, never really being the one to provide comfort. It's hard to be good at something like that when one can't even talk about their own feelings.

He was working on a new project that would hopefully catch the attention of a magazine. It would be great to have his work published, even if recognition wasn't exactly what he was after. In fact, he preferred to fade away into the background. However, having his work published would show that he was good at photography and perhaps show him what he needed to work more on. After all, there was always room for improvement.

Snapping another picture of a flowering plant he had found, he moved to a different position to take another picture. This was about the fifth picture he had taken of the same plant, all from different angles, but he didn't mind. After all, it was good to have a multitude of pictures of the same thing.

Pausing to look through his photos, he was interrupted when a young woman, maybe a bit older than himself, approached. He regarded her with an unreadable expression as she spoke. Photography advice? He wasn't expecting that.

His gaze flickered momentarily to her phone, and he resisted the urge to cringe. As someone who saw himself as a professional photographer, he was a bit mortified that she would use her phone to take photos. Sure, phones were becoming more and more advanced, but they still didn't hold a candle to a camera.

Keeping his expression neutral, he addressed her. "Don't stand in place when you take pictures. It's good to move around and take pictures from different angles. It's also good to keep lighting in mind when you take a photo. Too much or too little light can cause your picture to have shadows that aren't meant to be there or have a glare. Dizzy might not want to ride Nyx, but that didn't mean he wasn't. His leg was aching a bit, not to mention he was tired from multiple days of no sleep, so he was more than content to ride the Gliscor while she led the way. Not that there was much reason for Nyx to lead, since not long after they had started, they saw the unmistakable flash of a Dazzling Gleam being used.

From the way the Delphox acted, he could only assume that one of his trainer's other Pokémon must be behind the Dazzling Gleam, so he urged Nyx to go just a little faster, but not so fast that Dizzy would have trouble keeping up. And finally, they came upon a teenager with an Abra and Mime Jr. facing off against a Dragapult.

Frowning, he released Celestia, his shiny Galarian Rapidash, to help if needed before taking the chance to scan their surroundings. It was clear Nyx was also paying attention, since Nyx suddenly pulled up sharply to avoid a Buizel using Wave Crash on them.

Looking over his shoulder, he saw a few Buizel had come up over the falls and had tried to attack in his moment of distraction. Frowning, he released Volt from his Poké Ball before directing the Zebstrika to use Thunder Wave on the Buizel that had attacked.

Once paralyzed, he threw an empty Poké Ball towards the Buizel and waited until he had seen it get sucked into a Poké Ball before redirecting his attention to the other battle.[break] zachary stellar

After allowing her entry, he checked to see how Volt was holding up. Luckily, the Zebstrika was holding up pretty well, at least for now. But he was sure Volt would start firing himself up soon.

As she released a Rookidee from a Pokéball, he was reminded of his Corviknight and when he had been a Rookidee. It seemed so long ago now. Though he was well aware that Rook hadn't actually evolved into a Corvisquire until about three years ago.

"That's a good Pokémon, though I might be a bit biased since I have a Corviknight and its starter form, Rookidee, was the first Pokémon I got," he told the blond-haired woman before continuing. "For obvious reasons, I can't exactly use him in this situation."

His gaze remained fixed on the Rookidee before the blond woman asked her question, causing him to direct his attention to her. "Just for today, I was just enjoying a cup of coffee when they decided to invite themselves into my home. Of course, even the greatest plans have hitches. Not that this was a great plan. It was basically the type of plan anyone with a working brain could come up with. But since it was simple, it was more likely to work than an overly complicated plan.

So when the guy pushed past Sterling to continue on, he didn't even pause in stride, continuing after the guy. He would catch up to the troublemaker outside and see that Sterling had nabbed him, but he knew their window was closing. So, before the guy could recover enough from his surprise to pull away from Sterling, he grabbed him by the arm.

"You're not going anywhere. I'm sure the police would love to hear how you and your friends are trying to serve alcohol to minors," he said, addressing Sterling without taking his eyes off the guy.

His eyes scanned the area around him before coming to rest on a dark-haired man who had just arrived. Upon seeing the older male, he couldn't shake the feeling that he should know him. That he had at least seen him somewhere or at least a picture of him.

At the remark about his Corviknight, he was pulled out of his thoughts. "He is, isn't he?" he agreed, clearly taking pride in the great steel bird by his side.

As the dark-haired man stepped forward to introduce himself, it suddenly clicked why he had seemed familiar. While he had never personally met Remiel, being Galarian meant that he knew of the older male, though it was probably more that, like him, the Royal family was from Hammerlocke.

"Ever Blackwell," he said, shaking the older man's hand before continuing. "It's a pleasure to be working with you."

As he mentioned dragon types, he couldn't help but be curious but decided to stow that away for a later conversation as Rook was brought up again.
