The Corviknight flying taxi dropped Robin off a block before the factory where some Revarooms were being tackled by Hoennian trainers left and right. She was glad to see so many people fighting the good fight. She'd come as soon as possible. As it was, the poisoned pokemon were taken care of, but there were still injured civilians.

Robin hurried over to a young boy and his mother on the sidewalk. The boy had a scrape on his elbow that was sprinkled with gravel; the mother explained that he had dove to the side of the road to avoid a Revaroom that had come onto the sidewalk in its haze.

"I gotcha," Robin said with enthusiasm. She pulled out her aid kit and grabbed some cleaning supplies while Sinistea chimed and danced in front of the boy to distract him. "This might sting but only for a second." She dabbed his injury and very lightly wiped at the peripheral gravel. Then, she pulled a large bandage and placed it gently. "All better!"

The differences between the Greyson she met mid-route and the one before her grow more stark by the second. His comment doesn't feel light-hearted, it feels sadistic, but she doesn't know how to articulate her concerns. She doesn't have the language for it. While her pokemon throw the DRK folks off, Greyson activates his sygna suit -- and Arceus, were those things cool -- but her enjoyment of the scene that unfolds is contained by the wet blanket of her worry.

"Sin, look for anything that might be valuable for the League." The ghost chimes with exaggerated enthusiasm; she can sense Robin's emotions and is compensating for her anxiety with high obedience. It only sours her mood further.

Even still, Greyson and her own pokemon's environmental onslaught are denting the Triad's little base. Folks are fleeing, and those that can't because of vertigo, freezing, or Greyson's own psychic assault, are helpless like wooloo. When Sinistea chimes loudly, Robin cries out from above, "Switch us!", and the Sinistea uses ally switch to put Sinistea on overwatch and Robin right inside a little tent with a desk full of papers.

It looks like nonsense to her, but maybe it will make sense to a scientist or analyst. She collects a handful and steps out of the tent, waving her arm in the air to get Greyson's attention from where he floats above. "We can head out! We got some goods." She would consider the Triad beat up, so they completed their mission.

The ceiling is come down around them, but Robin still hesitates at Sasky's suggestion. "Er, I don't really do psychic types-" she tries to explain, but suddenly she is pulled along side her fellow Ranger. The ride pokemon is wicked fast, and the cave begins to blur around them. She recalls her pokemon and leans in close, having tied up all her own loose threads. "Let's get this over with quickly." She feels mounting nervousness about being so close to a psychic, but before she knows it, they're outside the area.

Robin nearly throws herself off the Wydeer.

"I, uh, I will file our report. And maybe embellish the number of pokemon we fought." She coughed into her hand, hoping Sasky didn't think she was a loser for her paranoia about psychic types.

"Not the whole cave -- just block the path this walking wake came from." She clarified. They still needed to retrace their steps, but they were going to have a hard time culling the numbers if they were killed by a stampede.

They had two walking wakes to juggle. Thievul used night slash, pushing the closest walking wake a few meters away and right underneath a falling stalactite. "That's what I'm talkin' bout!" She pumped a fist in the air. Sinistea launches a shadow ball at the first walking wake that had charged at Robin, but the pokemon avoids it.

"Let's be prepared to bail," Robin warned. The one crushed under the crystal stalactite was staying down, but they needed to finish off the other walking wake.

Three weeks.

It took three whole weeks for Robin to cave. Marshadow followed her through the shadows and revealed himself at night. Sometimes, in her peripheral, he saw her mimic her gestures and emotions. She felt like a test subject and the victim of a prank in even strokes. On the twenty-first night, she sighed loudly in her treetop rented room. She felt his presence, now, long before he made himself known.

She ranted at him for several minutes as he creeped closer. Then, she found herself complaining at him while he sat at the foot her bed in the same manner she was sitting. She rubbed at her temple, suddenly aware of what they would look like to a third observer. She saw herself in her mind's eye.

He had been haunting her for weeks, hounding her until she'd relent and let him come along. But he had been following her all along, anyways. While she still had her misgivings about this kind of pokemon given her first experience with a Marshadow, he was distinctly acting like a lost soul, and she had become a Ranger to help those. Ghosts were her reason for becoming a better trainer, Ranger, and person.

So, she relented. Marshadow was a member of the team.

"They didn't promote me to cadet for nothing!" She proudly bore the cadet armband after graduating from the rookie one. She intends to say more, but the hissing fills the air. She instinctively crouches a little, then looks all over. Their cover just crumbled, so where is the threat...

A trio of unusual pokemon that appear to have missed the circus in town are coming right their way. Did they see the Leaguers already, or were they making that sound for fun?

"Never seen one of these," she mused as she took a few absent steps closer, drawing a pokeball. She doesn't think she's lucky enough for a combatless capture, but it's worth assessing the behavior of these pokemon, so she impulsively tosses it at the closest one, which stands a few meters ahead of the two behind it.

The pokeball bounces helplessly behind it, a missed shot, but the blacephalon reacts violently: its head tumbles as it lights up, the hissing hitting a crescendo, and explodes. Fireworks erupt, filling the sky with delightful colors that remind her of summer festivals besides Gwen...

He was throwing her off her rhythm immediately. She hadn't expected the field to move away from her mist. Of course, who could've? But he isn't challenging her ability to make a million contingency plans. This is clearly to see how she moves on the fly, and she has to improvise the right strategy to protect her team.

Cyclizar comes spinning and the Dragapult charges her Sinistea from behind; there's only one obvious play to protect them both from the opening gambit. "ALLY SWITCH!" She shouts, her heart pounding in her chest. Sinistea obeys, using ally switch to replace herself with Snorlax. The normal pokemon is immune to ghost moves, so the Dragapult's charge goes through him. Similarly, Cyclizar's normal spin move phases through the teacup pokemon.

Cyclizar's speed seems like it will become an ongoing problem, so they need to disrupt the playing field. "Mun, use earthquake!" He stomps his foot to the ground to generate an earthquake. Robin exhales forcibly, trying to regulate the adrenaline rush she's feeling. "The environmental moves are still okay, yeah?" She asks belatedly, still a little concerned about wrecking the area. Snorlax knew several TMs for large moves, and she didn't want to destroy his place.

Being her first official race ever, Robin was exhilarated. She was bouncing from foot to foot as she saw everyone pour in. There were lots of challengers, and she made it on the list as tenth. She wasn't sure how the place on the pole was assessed, but she was happy for lam logan . She hadn't seen him since they explored his city and captured a few pokemon; afterwards, he had gifted her a Carracosta, which was precisely who she was entering with.

So, naturally, she approached him to share as such. "Long time, no see! I hope you recognize this little guy." She gestured to the large sea turtle pokemon behind herself. Carracosta waved. "You're gonna be seeing his backside when we take first place," she teased good-naturedly. "We can't agree on a pose for the photos afterwards, though." Carracosta curled down low with his arms out like he was swimming. "I think we should be back to back instead. It'll be more intense, y'know?" The turtle pokemon groaned in disagreement.

Robin stood behind her Snorlax even as the gigantamax pokemon fell to the folks who arrived sooner. She was nervous about the uptick in poison pokemon, but Snorlax was as good a shield as ever. It was particularly true in this matter, as she had never seen him fall to poison in the entire time she knew him.

He tanked a sludge bomb with a small grunt, turning to the assailant which was a small garbador. "Knock him back," she instructed Mun, feeling pumped. He readied a hammer arm and knocked the poison pokemon flying backwards. Indeed, with a pokemon like him to shake off any icky side effects, she felt well-equipped to help civilians get out of the sick zone.

She's told the people are possessed.

Of course she gets dispatched. She prepares to be a good ghost whisperer and compel spirits to leave people alone, but that's not quite what she sees when she arrives. People are moving like they're not in control of themselves, sure, but what they're seeking is some kinda mochi. And it's every person she sees.

No ghost can possess at such a large scale. And she can tell there's not a horde of ghosts just individually possessing people, because Sinistea doesn't detect a strong ghost presence just like herself. The pokenav plus in her hands tells her she's in the right place. So, if it isn't a possession at all... what is the culprit? Immediately, she's suspicious of psychics. She dives through alleys and monitors the people as best she can without revealing herself.

Robin taps her chin as she thinks through the question. "I think this is... five." She displays five fingers for her partner. "I think they've been throwing everyone here whose available." She laughed. "It's a real hot spot for activity. We got natural disasters, pokemon stampedes, and... well, Rocket interference." Her voice turns a little more grim at the final note. After nearly being abducted, it's hard to be casual about Rocket.

"At least this is just exploration. We don't have to defend any research stations." She was a little tired of those stuffy missions. The researchers never liked to stop to share what they were doing. She looked around to observe the area they were entering, filled with glowing tera. "Look, there's goop up there."

Her stomach flips as the Delphox teleports them, but she didn't chain six rides during last summer's festival for nothing. She reorients herself in a few moments - psychic moves and pokemon always trigger a visceral disgust - and locks in. She watches the camp alongside him and considers the question. "I think something sudden and environmental will throw 'em off. I can chain a blizzard and something sound-based to make it impossible to get their wits together, and you can start knocking 'em off their feet." The cold temperature might disrupt some of their equipment, though she can't be sure what they have. Ice could also disrupt access to the natural tera crystals, if any of them felt so inclined as to use one's raw power.

Her reliable trio of late hasn't let her down just yet. She tosses Snorlax on the ledge below to give him some space to work. "Blizzard, please." He hums agreeably while she releases Toxtricity. "Use psychic noise." Toxtricity is so happy to use anything sound-related that she permits the use of the psychic assault. Her pokemon act as she commanded, using blizzard and psychic noise. The camp below erupts in a confused, chilly uproar in response.

"We need to stop engaging with it! You're badly hurt." Robin pleaded. But Josh was not running for the hills despite his burns. "Stop it!" Toxtricity took it upon himself to take that order very literally, using boom burst to generate excruciating noise that echoed throughout the chasm immediately.

It's great for disorienting pokemon, but the chasm is not secure enough for it.

The rumblings continue even after he finishes, and it's clear that there's going to be a major rockfall. "We're leaving, now!" She whistled to bring Sinistea and Toxtricity close to herself as she scrambled away from a falling stalactite. She checked her rotom phone for service, trying to alert the Rangers outside that Josh needed urgent care.
