if there’s something to be grateful for, it’s the way julie has remained internet famous rather than utilize her family’s connections to become something more. sure, she can be recognized, but her popularity was different than that of an actor’s whose face was plastered everywhere. it was comforting, in a way. because those that knew her were from her own hard work. if there was something to pride herself in, julie thinks it has to be that. [break][break]

in fact, she thought it was cute when people would pause and take in her presence, as if connecting the dots that yes, the girl ordering a drink at a local café was indeed the julie solette. the cashier inhaled an excited breath, only quieted by the way julie held a finger up to her ever smiling lips. can i shake your hand...?! they had whisper squeaked instead, and with a gentle laugh, julie complied. see? adorable. [break][break]

it would be a different story if people recognized her as the runaway daughter of the solette family, but they certainly weren't famous enough for something like that. maybe in kalos she'd be recognized as someone but julie the vlogger, but she was far away from home and nothing like that mattered. [break][break]

however, julie did enjoy her alone time.[break][break]

after collecting her drink (and waving at the very excited cashier once again), she settled in a lone corner table. she wouldn't drop her guard in public, but it did give her a chance to recharge her social battery. instead of pulling out her vlogging camera or letting her rotom phone roam free, julie instead opted to take a photo of her drink and open an app to decorate the photo for her socials. maybe a few hearts there and a strawberry to emphasize its flavor? looking great! [break][break]

she relaxes momentarily before a presence enters her space, the kalosian looking up to see a girl so pink it put her drink to shame. she blinked for a moment to process her words, but then she's giggling into her fingertips, head nodding. well, break time's over! [break][break]

"oh, you caught me!" she says it good naturedly, and while others start to fill the air with their murmurs, gazes prickling her skin, julie pays them no mind. she gives this girl that seemed to embody everything julie tried to be all of her attention. was this girl also an entertainer in some way? she held a sparkle to her that seemed to fill julie with warmth.[break][break]

who needed recharging when someone that shined just by existing came by just to say hello?[break][break]

"yep, that's me!" she glances down at the sylveon, fingers wiggling in greeting. "and can i ask who you are? i won't let you go until you tell me!" she says it with a wink once she looks back up at the stranger, hands clapping together. "i mean, you and your sylveon are just so cute, after all!"[break][break]

SUNFLORA SWARM (5TH ANNIVERSARY)

julie hummed as the camera was directed to the sunflora swarm, watching in mild amusement at the way they sway and twirl together. the sun was high in the sky, perfect for a grass type, though julie had to wonder if she should allow her own to come out and play. ami had a tendency to wander off, and seeing the energetic sunflora would only excite her. it seemed like a bad idea, however julie didn't seem to have much of a choice, her bounsweet feeling the energy from her ball and popping out without a command. [break][break]

ami greets her with her usual happy smile, hopping up and down as if to say they look like they're having fun! i wanna go too! julie rolls her eyes, offering a grin in return as she reaches down to pick up the youngest of her team, head shaking. [break][break]

"oh, you... you're just too tiny to go with the rest of them. how about we copy them and soak up the sun instead, yeah?" ami chirps at that, leaning back comfortably in julie's arms. her eyes close as she tilts her body towards the sun, enjoying its warmth. a hand raises to pat bounsweet's head before julie herself closed her eyes and breathed in the fresh air.[break][break]

of course, her rotom phone was still recording the swarm. even despite the relaxation, julie couldn't miss catching this and savoring the moment forever. [break][break]

some would call it bravery and others would call it sheer recklessness. julie thought it was the former, rather than the latter, though when she liked to say she wasn't good at battling, those around her would definitely agree she was just asking for trouble. of course, when one is a variety vlogger, she has to provide just that: variety! she can't just rely on cute and soft videos all the time. julie needed a splash of excitement! perhaps both for herself and her audience, but details, details. [break][break]

"you worry too much, alia," she says nonchalantly, fingers lacing behind her back as she bats her eyelashes. "when have i ever gotten hurt? you really didn't need to follow me." she seems completely at ease, even despite the dangers. which she is! especially now that she's got a ranger with her. "but, if you insist, i won't say no to the company!" the pause on her rotom phone's recording is ceased as it flies off into the distance, taking in the scenery and approaching pokemon.[break][break]

that's right! they may be tiny, but they are very mighty! mama and pau and everyone else just worried too much! "yeah! plus, we're green too so! trees are our friends!" yep! and they're berries! trees were like their second home! maybe this tree really was their great-great-grandfather, and the trees they spawned from where from the seeds carried by some bird pokemon... the possibility was there! no matter how slim! or big, depending on one's point of view. [break][break]

ami watches in anticipation as ruru takes on the great challenge of their (maybe) grandfather tree, the bounsweet bouncing up and down with a you can do it! she looks up high on the tree, expecting ruru to already be up there in four seconds flat, but instead ruru rolls right in front of her, ami blinking in confusion. [break][break]

"huh? did you go back up there and come back down that fast?" genuine worry shines in her little yellow eyes because how could she possibly beat that?! but then ruru wiggles to get up and ami gets it. ohhh. she fell. she gives ruru a little sympathetic frowny face before she puffs up her chest(?) in determination, nodding firmly. [break][break]

"don't worry, ruru! if i can do it, then you can do it!" instead of running at the tree full speed, ami decides a rapid spin would do the trick! she'd go up the tree like one of those metal spinning toy thingies! not only that, it'd make her look so cool! ami barrels at the tree with alarming speed, but all she does is hit the tree with a thunk![break][break]

to her credit though, she did get a little higher than ruru. not much though.[break][break]

laying on her back, she blinks up at the tree leaves, confusion in her voice. "how come there's still so many leaves at the top of the tree?" she rolls off her side, looking down at the grass then back up. "... oh!" it's of realization first. "oh..." and then quickly of disappointment. she meets ruru's gaze with unshed tears. "... does it hate us...?"

even despite the woman's reassurances, julie still offers an apologetic smile to the stranger's companions as well. if it were julie's pokemon (or, more specifically, her bewear), they'd be staring down any stranger that did her wrong until their trainer was properly compensated. not to say the other's were like that, but one never knows in the face of... well, new faces! [break][break]

however, whatever worries julie had are easily brushed away by the invite, the kalosian smiling brightly. "oh, you too? if you don't mind! i'd love the company." of course, she could have easily taken out her pokemon to avoid her supposed loneliness, though chasing down her more mischievous companions wouldn't be worth it. a human (and her own seemingly more well-behaved pokemon) seemed to be the better option. [break][break]

calling her phone back into her bag, she gasps, fingers over her parted lips. "oh, before i forget!" and then she's back to smiling, hand out for a shake. "i'm julie, by the way! glad to meet you and your friends!" a pause. "love the outfit by the way. you're very on theme with your partners!"[break][break]

hm! she stares at the choices whilst chewing on her lip, sighing as she really thinks it through. if julie wanted an adventure, she could go straight to death crater, but something with the word death felt like it'd be an insta-KO. "could go somewhere in the middle, i guess..." a cry interrupts her thoughts and, curious as to what his trainer is distracted by, julie's zorua hops up onto the bed opposite of mary. tilting her body slightly in his direction, julie shares the screen with him, letting him paw at the phone. [break][break]

the tell-tale ding of a choice being made echoes from the speakers, julie's head tilting and peeking over her zorua to see the selection. LEVEL 5 - MIRAGE PALACE is greyed out on the screen, shalin's dialogue box filling. sion seems satisfied with the choice, opting to snuggle against julie's side to watch. "well. could be worse."

when he gives permission, she lights up and replies with another hand sign. some members of the crowd turn to glance at her curiously, blinking when they find a girl that looks so out of her element it's laughable. regardless, she waves to be friendly and she earns a few in return, each turning back to watch josh with anticipation. it wouldn't be a lie to say she also brimmed with it. the surrounding crowd and his previous performance was infectious, julie even leaning up slightly on her tiptoes to watch with bated breath. [break][break]

the song begins and she lets out a verbal oh! at the jumble of arrows on screen. his feet easily hit the combo though, and she notices some onlookers clench their fists with silent cheers. unconsciously, everyone leans forward as the climax of the song hits, julie herself following the motion. he's so close, everyone knows it! a full combo, easy peasy — ah. [break][break]

his legs falter and it's over. everyone seems to mimic josh in the way they deflate, heads shaking with shared disappointment. damn, dude was so close and bro, right at the end too! fill the air as she decides to wander over, camera paused in its recording as she offers a sympathetic smile. [break][break]

"thanks for letting me record. you looked real cool out there!" she glances at the screen behind them, humming thoughtfully. "too bad about your combo though. everyone got really excited!" her smile is directed at him once again, a soft giggle muffled by her sleeve. "it's my first time seeing someone play this, and you know? i got pretty into it too." [break][break]

Sure, maybe when people made those brochures, they didn't immediately think about archeologist digs as Hoenn's main tourist destinations. However, that was hardly Artie's fault. As far as he was concerned, that was their fault for not advertising properly. [break][break] And so what if his travel destination had also put up a few, very bold signs that he ought to watch his step and that trespassers would be persecuted? Those were obviously not meant for him. Those were for civilians. You know, commonfolk, who had to follow the rules and regulations of society. [break][break]

ami liked to wander around. her mama knew that and so did her big siblings! but! you know? she only felt okay doing that because her mama was nearby! and pau! pau could pick ami up when she got into trouble if julie didn't. anyway, basically, when julie said something about how she'd be staying at some unknown place because i'm sure you'll have fun! ami was ready to throw a fit! it's not fun if julie's not around... is what ami initially thought! but then mika (ami's other mama, but she tries not to call them that as much anymore) releases ami's bestest friend ruru too and everything is okay again![break][break]

the bounsweet sways from one foot to the other with ruru's inquiry, and if she could shrug, she would (unfortunately alongside their hands, they also both lack shoulders). [break][break]

"i dunno, but i don't wanna go," ami says matter-of-factly, eyes closing with her chin (entire body) up in the air. "if we leave and get lost, mama'd worry! mama says it's dangerous for tinies like us anyway... which i don't really get 'cause i can protect her and me just fine!" there's something akin to a pout in her words, but she shakes her head (body...), leaves shaking with the movement.[break][break]

"ummmm... we could... um.... we could go up a tree! i wanna see how big this place is!"

there was something so enchanting about witnessing the graceful form of a being underwater. that was the appeal of aquariums, she thinks; perhaps it was watching something like a goldeen with its long fins flowing behind them as they moved that allowed serenity to wash over her. surely, a mermaid show was no different! a performance like that would showcase the complete synchronicity between a human and their partner. from what she recalls from the pamphlet, the outfits would be adorned with fabric that would look absolutely mesmerizing beneath water.[break][break]

after reciting the information, julie sighs wistfully, cheek rested upon her palm as she tucks the pamphlet under her arm. "i heard the shows in kanto were beautiful. i would have loved to see them." her rotom phone floats beside her, julie opting to utilize that instead of her regular camera. it's always easier to maneuver through a crowd when she isn't focusing on recording, after all. "in any case, this will be my first time seeing one in person! i'm pretty excited." her hands clap together as she flashes a grin to the phone, though her elbow momentarily jutting out in the motion effectively nudges the person walking next to her.
