"icy wind." the snake pokemon slows to a still under the sudden chill, numb. marcel looks at it for a few moments--he falters--before a second command leaves his mouth: "metal claw." the seviper soon falls.
[break][break]for a few moments, he cannot look away. marcel reacts slowly and is almost caught in the pool of spreading blood. the edge of the snake skin would be slightly damaged as a result of his pokemon's attack, but marcel decides the seviper's size means it isn't too much of a sacrifice. the knife is heavy in his hand; he readjusts his grip so the blade points forward. he switches back again.

"well," marcel glances at his phone as the fight comes to an end, "this was fun." pushing off the wall, he moves to make his way out the building. it was late enough that he'd be going straight home. "get home safe, samuel." he says, a habitual goodbye.

though the drop in attack isn't an issue, given his sylveon's battle style, marcel doesn't fancy the boost in hp boost that will come with his opponent's next attack. his immediate thought is to use protect, but thinks better of it. he preferred to keep them for when it mattered. he comes up with a compromise: "draining kiss."

with the drifblim close for the sake of its own attack, it would be easy to land a hit.

"knock him out, leave him somewhere," marcel says after some thought, keeping his eye on the man, "nothing that'll send the rest of the league after us, so don't be too rough." they just needed to get him out of here without stirring a fuss. that'd be bad for business.

"didn't you know i'm an intellectual?" he drawls, echoing priam's words. "i don't know, priam, i just picked something at random." stores in general were good talking places. his regulars told him about their day and, sometimes without even knowing it, happened across information of use to him. it helped that books were easy stock, didn't go off like food did.

"it's a nice break," he admits after some more cake. the conversation's pushed forward before priam can pry any further, "what's this job, anyway?"

truth was, he knew far less about the littleroot incident than he would've liked to admit. he'd worn his contacts thin, spent nights at his computer, and still, their biggest clue seems to be the sample they retrieved. of course, it wouldn't have done any good to let katherine continue worrying. he can't help but feel responsible, as their superior, when issues of work bleed into their everyday life. he knew the feeling all too well, and it was never pleasant.

"copycat."

his sylveon, sensing something was to come, braces itself for the impact. the light screen, at least, would provide a buffer. the driblim comes crashing from behind, knowing his sylveon off its feet. before it even touches the ground again, it disappears in a shadowy wisp. reappearing directly above the drifblim, the sylveon lashes out with its ribbons, glowing a ghostly purple with PHANTOM FORCE.
