It was honestly rather beautiful. Celebrating the new year in a new land, surrounded by new faces, new potential friends, it was such a foreign experience. And yet, Ruby was extremely excited. Normally for new years she and her family were just at home, or perhaps out with friends and celebrating. But tonight, she was about to watch this absolutely beautiful ball drop to symbolize the coming of the new year. Fireworks were sure to absolutely stun and amaze her, an eager grin on her face as she sat on a bench simply waiting.

Of course, Whisper might not enjoy the fireworks... But that was why she had soundproofed her bag as much as she could! Stuffed with blankets and other simple things to help give the girl a quiet, safe place. However, before she could even tuck Whisper's Pokeball into her bag, the sudden loud crack of what Ruby could only assume to be a firework going off early startled the silent pokemon from her ball.

Ruby at first laughed, reaching over to gently pat Whisper's arm and tell her everything was okay when she finally realized something... Whisper was staring up at the sky.

She stared slack-jawed up at the sky, the sight of the wormhole opening was absolutely terrifying. What in the world was that? A quick glance at Whisper revealed that she was already preparing for the worst. The signature purple psychic energies floating around her as she used calm mind. Some strange... clown-like thing dropped down from the skies, immediately causing chaos.

As soon as the strange head of the beast began to glow, Ruby didn't even have time to consciously panic before Whisper quickly grabbed the girl up into her arm and quickly managed their way to get behind a Swampert that threw up a protective guard. As the explosion ripped across the city, Ruby yelped out in fear and panic, clinging to Whisper's body tightly as she shouted out.

"w-what is that thing!?"

notes: In town simply to celebrate New Years, when all hell breaks loose. Whisper uses Calm Mind to boost her offensive and defensive capabilities to protect Ruby, before moving the two of them behind Orion Lykos 's Swampert for protection.

Ruby was admittedly a bit startled by the voice of someone else speaking to her. Turning around, she paused to take note of the man before her. She definitely had never seen him before, but that name of his was oddly familiar. Where did she hear it before? Shrugging softly to herself Ruby turned around and smiled softly at the man, chuckling quietly at his joke. "Oh, my name is Ruby Walker. A pleasure to meet you, kind sir."

She smiled over at him, Darling slowly turning to look at Nathanial as well. Of course, the Pokemon curtsied towards him with a signature cry of their own. She kept a cautious look at the Sneasel, knowing full well what they were like. After all, Ruby had one herself. Before Ruby could continue to talk, something was amiss. The psychic pokemon squeezed Ruby's hand as a young kid suddenly ran up the stairs, screaming and crying.

Ruby couldn't help but gasp as the kid fell down, only to promptly be beaten up by Obstagoon that came running up the stairs after him. Her hand instinctively covered her mouth, fear suddenly striking through her heart. It was only the sight of a few flying strangers suddenly attacking the Obstagoon that caused Ruby to snap into action. That kid was going to get hurt!

"Bubbles, get them out of there!" Suddenly retrieving her Greninja's pokeball, she sent him out. Immediately the ninja-like frog began dashing forwards towards the battle. Using smokescreen, a sudden puff of smoke surrounded them, hopefully blinding the thug pokemon. Quickly moving to grab the injured kid, Bubbles would yank the injured child out as fast as they possibly could, running back over towards Ruby and Nathanial.

"Darling, help out! We can't just stand there!" The babysitter immediately nodded their head, humming as a pink, soft encouraging psychic aura surrounded them and spread towards Nathanial's Sneasel to enhance whatever attack they are hopefully about to use on the Obstagoon.

notes: Introduced herself to Nathanial. Shocked and stunned by the kid in danger, Bubbles the Greninja used Smokescreen to hopefully blind the Obstagoon while she swept in to grab the kid. Darling the Indeedee used Helping Hand on Nathanial's Sneasel.

Hey, thank you so much! There are actually quite a few other Galarian characters too! Nathanial Reynolds is a knight from Galar, and Aramis Highlander is actually a prince from the Galar region, so you know!

On the topic of her family, that's a bit rough. Her family generally trusts her to take care of herself, especially with Darling the Indeedee as her babysitter and Whisper the Hatterene as her protector. So they could definitely be family friends at some point, but I don't know if they'd ask to keep an eye on her since they put a large amount of trust in their girl. Still, having the sort of big brother figure would definitely be fun! Feel free to hit up my DM's and we can discuss a thread at some point o/

Route 116. Somehow she always kept coming right back here. It was where she had already caught most of her psychic type pokemon, perhaps it was a mix of familiarity paired with certainty. She knew that she'd find what she was looking for here eventually, even if it took a bit of searching. The goal certainly wouldn't be easy, capturing all the different psychic type Pokemon that existed, but Ruby knew that having an end goal while adventuring and traveling was never a bad idea.

Letting out a deep breath, Ruby sighed as she meditated atop the same stump she had before. Meddy was unfortunately not in her party like last time, but her meditation practice couldn't just let up because the meditation Pokemon herself wasn't there. Today, Darling the Indeedee was fulfilling the role. She wasn't very good at meditating, but the sheer presence of someone else out here was a comforting thought to Ruby. Darling simply sat down in front of the stump, humming ever so quietly and singing a soft tune.

Ruby couldn't help but smile a little bit. The tune was admittedly incredibly adorable, even if it was distracting her. Regardless, she let out a long sigh and opened up her eyes to look down at her. "You keeping an eye out, right Darling?"

"Indeedee!" Was the only response, quickly glancing up with a smile on their face before going right back to their soft humming.

We Meet Again In The Trees [Gym]

The Fortree Rescue & Treatment Sanctuary was admittedly quite a sight to see. Ruby couldn't help but have incredibly wide eyes as she walked up to the building. Helping out Pokemon in need was an incredibly worthwhile cause that simply made Ruby smile a bit wider. She didn't own any bird-like pokemon, if she excluded her Delibird, so she was totally unused to seeing Pokemon simply soar gracefully overhead in such a large amount of numbers. In her time in Fortree alone, she had seen more grass and flying-type Pokemon than probably in the rest of her time in Hoenn! Still, she was here today on business.

Gently pushing the doors open and stepping inside, Ruby moved to gently grab the two Pokemon she'd be using in her battle today and hold them carefully in her hands. The inside of the building was no less impressive, but clearly she was a bit lost. Her excitement faded into a bit of a confused look on her face as she glanced around. Who was she supposed to talk to for the battle? Was this even the right building? Suddenly feeling anxious, Ruby simply walked right up to the closest desk and spoke. "U-uh, hello! I'm here to challenge Alexei. I met him once before, and I want to show him my skill as a trainer this time!"

Ruby was silent as the man was carried away to the hospital and the guilt immediately set it. Whisper hadn't hurt anyone for the longest time, not even in a major city! She was doing so well, how did this happen? Did he try and hurt her somehow? Ruby didn't know, she could only assume. Regardless, it still felt horrible. Her eyes slowly fell to the ground, unable to look at anyone. It was as if everyone in the area was just watching her getting chastised... and it felt horrible. Like everyone was judging her and Ruby still had no idea what to do.

Even as the obviously important man spoke, she couldn't look up at him. The guilt, paired with the harsh and sudden scolding was a bit too much for her. She had never gotten in trouble growing up. She was the quiet girl who had never disobeyed her parents, who listened in school, who always tried her best to be a good person. Ruby was used to scolding Whisper for her actions, but never being scolded because of her actions. She couldn't take it, slight tears forming in the corners of her eyes as she struggled to explain herself.

"I-I don't know! I was just battling a-and... I turn around and t-there he is." She struggles to speak, stuttering from the sheer nerves. "She's a psychic type! S-she can sense hostile intent and has always protected me... She'd never! She'd never hurt someone that bad! I swear! I-" Before she could fully break down in tears right on the street, Whisper suddenly appeared from her Pokeball once more.

The Hatterene stared at Balder as if trying to judge him. Seemingly satisfied he wasn't going to hurt Ruby, but still uneasy, she wrapped the hat-arm around Ruby in a gentle hug. Ruby sniffled, pressing up close to the embrace of her silent Pokemon and shaking softly from the harsh public rebuke. Whisper just stared at him, as if silently daring him to lay a hand on her Ruby. Protective till the end, it seemed.

Ruby couldn't help but smile a little bit wider as he complimented her Greninja. He truly was a good boy, she'd definitely make sure not to take him for granted. However, at the mention of the town, she shook her head. "No? I mean, I don't think so. I was just on a local beach nearby when I got swept away." Still, the idea of one day visiting the town when she wasn't sick of water sounded exciting!

Of course, the news that he lived in Fortree and could easily show him around was incredible news. She perked up a little bit, walking right over towards his side and looking up at the Noivern. A personal tour from a local? This day went from bad to absolutely great! Such a pretty pokemon too... However, at the offer of another pokemon carrying her, Ruby's eyes widened even more. Braviary? Salamence? Ruby was admittedly a bit stunned. Just how many flying pokemon did he have on him?

The pink Love Ball sending out a Ribombee immediately made her smile even wider. She hadn't felt so well taken care of since she started traveling on the road in, well, forever! She eagerly nodded her head and taking the Pollen Puff, taking a small nibble out of it before speaking softly. "Umm, do you think I could maybe fly on the Salamence? I've never seen one before!"

It seemed like they had a visitor. A Chimecho seemed to float on in from wherever it was to watch Gothorita rearrange some of the stones. Ruby glanced upwards with a sudden surprised expression on her face. They were so pretty! She had never seen a Chimecho in real life, but she knew right away that she had to have them! She reached up with a soft expression on her face, almost nervous to scare away the beautiful psychic type.

Instead, they simply seemed to flutter over towards her side pressing up close. Ruby immediately smiled, gently hugging the beautiful Chimecho, who called out their own name in excitement. With a small grin, Ruby just held up an empty Pokeball and captured the beautiful chime Pokemon. She couldn't help but squeal softly in pure excitement from catching such a beautiful Pokemon.

Astral simply laughed to themselves a bit at Ruby's antics, still carefully moving the stones with accurate precision. Finally getting up from where she sat, Ruby was tucking away the Pokeball into her bag as she spoke. "Oh, let me help! Just uh, tell me what to do."
