Kaida flinched as the Mist was blown away, baring her teeth at the owl that had revealed Lars and her to the masses...but it was ok. Even when a blast of terrifying darkness passed them by, she still had the ease of knowing they were getting away.

And the world fell apart.

Just like a dream (Or maybe nightmare? She'd been having many nightmares lately), the land fell apart and, as her eyes adjusted, she noted a terrifying fact. They were flying towards the horrible monster, the shadow. She started to bristle, teeth aching from how tightly they clenched down, and Kaida's hands started flying out from pure instinct. She moved to recall Nid, knowing the dragon could no longer hide them, and released a giant fighting dragon, Vani. "I trust you, my friend." She intoned as the dragon slammed its arms together, a shimmering Protect moving over its charged on and near the Metagross.

Another movement, holding out her Ekans like a whip. She didn't know what the shadow was, but she did understand one thing. If flight was impossible, then hunting it down before it did the same to them just seemed logical. Besides, some long gone voice whispered in the back of her mind, that fool (noah faber ) would likely appreciate the help. Acid Spray near invisibly zipped from the Ekans' maw, and she hoped it struck true.

Suddenly, Orvar zoomed forward, boosting in speed with its inate Speed Boost. Rage filled the fanged insect as it activated Ancientpower, the rocky attack zooming for the owl that it blamed for their reveal. Prehestoric power flooded the insect and in a fit of helplessness, Kaida hoped it was enough for the Yamega to dodge around the battlefield.

The two Pokemon had left the Electric Terrain, and thus as the Spores swept over them, Indunn suddenly fell, asleep. In turn, Odinson couldn't find more pain, and wouldn't fall to sleepiness while poisoned. Light was starting to return to the cat's eyes, so Kaida called out hopefully, "Odinson! Bite hard!"

A signal for a big attack, the Luxray thankfully responded, crying out and blasting a Discharge around the battlefield. So close, it might hit the asleep Comfey, but the attack was deemed necessary.

Dain stopped as the Pikachu blocked his path, pacing back and forth before cooking his head at Kaida. She wasn't saying anything about this, now what? "I suppose we're done." She spoke up, beckoning the Scyther, who snorted petulantly, "Don't get hit next time then." She answered the Pokemon as if it had talked, before turning to Zola.

"...You're Pikachu is good you know. Protected you fast." She actually smiled fondly at the electric mouse before suddenly frowning, eyes falling to the ground, "You're a bit of a fool, though...asking someone who died how to survive." She didn't think it was much of a secret. Most civilians already knew of her death (she suspected the "surprise" wearing off diluted her fame by now), and thus the words poured easily from her mouth, not at all taking into account if expected or not. "But you did good, hitting Dain."

Another wide spread attack nearly scattered the team, Kaida's own eyes watering at the cataclysmic sound. Freya herself, used to attacking from afar, had no chance of the close range attacks, crying out as she felt her strength failing her. "Attack them all! Ormr, stay back!"

Positioning himself behind the other reptiles, the Ekans opening its mouth wide, absorbing a little power that poofed up his throat. A Stockpile, not as powerful than if he had actual food on hand, but the residual power the serpent had was enough for now. Freya swept her tail, poison pouring from her back to sweep over all the enemies. Even weakened, the poisonous wave still looked threatening. As it swept through, Loki stepped forward. Burns crept through his back, evidence of the harmful but powerful Solar Power activating, and the Charmeleon fired off Flamethrower at the fighting dragon, remembering Ormr's strike from before.

Ekans uses Stockpile! Salazzle uses Sludge Wave! Charmeleon has Solar Power activate and uses Flamethrower on Kommo-o!

Kaida looks over to Svart as a ringing crunch sounds out, the Durant jerkily wrenching her head back over after the brutal Counter broke parts of its steely head. The bug however, continued on its assault, instinct dictating she follow orders until the end. Her jaws flew open, still close enough to try and Crunch the Riolu's arm, hoping to hold it still for her attacks.

Vani grunted as her opponent suddenly vanished away, quickly covering her face and activating Iron Defense, hoping to outlast her opponent, if anything else.

Still raging and confused, Odinson had no way to dodge either attack, stumbling and rocking wildly as it shot off another blast of electricity, though the smaller Shock Wave rather than a helpful Discharge.

Kaida noticed movement in the corner of her eyes, and hurriedly called out to the flowery serpent as he shifted, "Indunn! Help Odinson!" Confusion was being blinked out of his eyes, it seemed the slam into the ground had knocked the Comfey's senses back, and he hurried to the Luxray's side, flowers glowing with Floral Healing that it blessed the big cat with.

To Njor's horror, the gator continued on its mission. The little fish could scarcely bare to look as it went straight for Corpus...who suddenly, split? A Substitute appeared in the deep sea creature's place, a mix of light and good ol' Pokemon power.

Kaida said nothing more, lest she give away where the Huntail was. Instead, she bade Njor on, "Bite it hard!" And that the Carvanha knew how to do, opening its jaws wide before trying to Crunch the Feraligatr's tail

One of Corpus' staring eyes rolled to regard the approaching gator, but made no attempt to call off the hunt. Instead, she shot off a Hydro Pump towards the attempting to heal Mantine, not fast enough to catch up in time, but certainly good at aiming. The Iron Defense was starting to wear off, but gave enough durability to squirm away again...though Kaida doubted the Huntail could pull off an escape too many more times.

At the same moment, Kaida called to the Carvanha, "Don't let Corpus be hurt!" Her command came after the gator's attack and came with obvious intent. Distract him before he can attack again. Njor hovered in place momentarily, then hissed in frustration, suddenly launching forward at incredible speed. Aqua Jet, right at the gator's flank...that was sufficiently distracting, right?

She was happy to oblige to the battle, nodding at the two Pokemon Razz released respectfully before releasing her own. A Kommo-o and Durant...in truth, she thought little about the team. There was no special synergy between them, and perhaps the Durant would be seen as a dumb move combating the Fighting types, but they wouldn't make this an easy fight, win or lose.

"Go." She gladly took the first move, pointing at the Lucario to signal the dragon to strike. Vani sprung forward, aiming a Sky Uppercut towards the aura dog's chest. As always, Svart moved to support, clacking towards the Riolu before suddenly speeding in a sudden First Impression.

Dain grumbled as his scythes failed to strike true, turning his head angrily only to be met with the kick, which only seemed to infuriate him more, as his head jerked back in shock. Suddenly, Kaida raised her voice, "One more, Dain." She wondered if Zola would land her wanted punch, though that wondering stopped as Dain's figure seemed to wobble. Double Team.

A trick of movement, of speed, and suddenly it appeared that there were quadruple of the Syther, and all leapt forward. He angled his scythe like a punch...it seemed that kick had hurt the Scyther's pride just a little too much, and he wanted to rub it in with this blow.

Kaida brightened as a ship came into view, beckoning the already low flying Nid into the water with the rest of the team. She was glad their intuition was correct, but now the situation begged the question...how were they supposed to actually free the Pokemon? Preferably without being caught themselves.

To start with, she signaled Nid to release Mist. The white smokescreen spreading out upon the waters. She could see the humans on the beach watching curiosily, the distracting effect wouldn't last for long, they'd catch on that it wasn't just a mist from the sea in just a second.

"I'm freeing them...help me." Kaida turned to her partner like a fellow Ranger, jerking her head at the chains surrounding the Pokemon. They were powerful, given proper motivation and with them on their side, surely they could drive away such pirates. Her hand signaled to Od, the Inteleon taking careful aim at on of the chains and firing a precise Snipe Shot at the same moment Kaida started to emerge from the Mist, Jotun already charging an Aqua Tail.

Fron the beach,one freed Exeggutor started to wave its head in fury.

They drifted towards the back of the guest house to escape, Kaida unwilling to face the conflict of being attacked in plain sight...she wondered if she should feel guilty about this. She'd do her job, if that required evacuation, she'd do it (Even if it wasn't a Pokemon problem), but in the moment, she was more concerned with keeping her, her family, and Lars' heads on their bodies. It was a stomach dropping thought, she didn't want to die.

As a rain was suddenly whipped up some distance away, Ormr screamed in the only way he could, a loud hiss that Kaida had never heard from her trusty partner. The gigantic, flying monster (Cillian Quinn 's Shadow Lugia), was striking at the city, leaking shadowy miasma that turned it into the very definition of a nightmare. Glare shone from his eyes, an instinctive reaction activated when the predator became the hunted. At the same moment, Orvar directed a concentrated Bug Buzz, another instinctive reaction to the terror before them.

They had never met a threat they couldn't beat, but Kaida understood animal reaction, terror. Fight or flight, and for the first time in a long time, she chose flight. "Hide! Hide us!" Kaida called, beckoning Nid in a hurry, the Dragonair hurrying to Mist the area as she started to retreat. Whatever method they used to escape, they made away from the beast, Kaida's Pokemon either clinging to her as she escaped with their trusted leader, or flying close like a buzzing guardian.

"My family found him and brought him into the team while I was out." Kaida's voice sounded far away, solely focusing on the battle below, yet still finding herself answering. She gashes her teeth as the Bullet Seed came out in force, knowing Njor wasn't long for the battle, another attack would knock him out. "Snarl! Corpus! Hunt Mantine!"

With her defenses boosted, Corpus confidently charged the Manine, Feint Attack aimed to attack from the bottom as she struck and swam away. Njor listened well enough, Snarling again to scatter some of the seeds, but still suffering some grazing shots before being slammed away by the Aqua Tail.

With Pokemon weakened on both sides, Kaida only hoped Corpus could bring the victory home.
