EXPOSITION: THE LEAGUE


LATE AUGUST. 2:00AM. Reports of 's kidnapping reach the League as a Rocket uprising surges across Sootopolis. Several A.Q.U.A. Initiative members have been recalled from their dispatch to Mt. Chimney, while other League trainers have become embroiled within the conflict because they are in the wrong place. Wrong time.[break][break]

Upon arrival, the League will encounter that a large majority of Sootopolis' citizens have become sympathetic to Rocket's cause, overthrowing the current mayor and keeping him within Abbiati's Silver Spire, located in the center of the city. The city's isolated location, coupled with the Abbiati family's religion-like influence has seeped into the populace, causing many to be swayed by charisma rather than reason.[break][break]

On the way to Sootopolis, several A.Q.U.A. Initiative members (, , , ) have been met with a squad of Gardevoir, holding refined shards of the primal crystals brought to the League after excursions. has been dispatched alongside them as an auxiliary help— but the others have been asked to monitor him (whether he is in his Pokkenger identity or not). The Gardevoir also arrive with a message from the Commissioner:

MESSAGE FROM DAHLIA

"should the situation become dire, cast these shards into either the CAVE OF ORIGIN or the SILVER SPIRE. these consecrated spaces possess a wealth of knowledge that can not fall into rocket's hands."[break][break]

She goes on to explain that striking them with either a MEGA-EVOLVED Pokemon's attack or a Z-MOVE will cause the the shards to disperse into a large radius sphere of energy, warping the physical places they touch into an undisclosed location. It is possible to set these shards as four separate shards— or combine them into one. All four shards must be expended for the warp to work.[break][break]

The shards seem to fidget ever so slightly, as if being displaced in space in sporadic intervals.


is already stationed in Sootopolis with and is caught in the crossfire when reinforcements arrive. Likewise, finds himself caught unwittingly too, for his property is situated in Bay Level B.[break][break]

EXPOSITION: TEAM ROCKET


ON THIS NIGHT, Team Rocket has been given the greenlight to commence the physical takeover of Sootopolis. The mayor had recently proposed the removal of the Silver Spire much to the chagrin of its populace. This final piece of ammunition was enough for Rocket to capitalize on its efforts to destabilize the city (see: Sootopolis missions), and thus, the takeover commenced. Disguises have been given to Rockets in need of them— but many have forgone masks for reveals.[break][break]

Several Rocket members had kidnapped , the resident gym leader. However, a gym trainer had noticed her disappearance. Although the trainer had been disposed of— the League has already been alerted. Those stationed in Sootopolis already have engaged with Rocket grunts and evacuated civilians desiring to leave. The citizens who remain however, have begun to fight back alongside the syndicate too.[break][break]

IMPORTANT INFORMATION / CHOICES:


LEAGUE FORCES HAVE ALREADY ENGAGED with the unruly crowds and Rocket grunts of Sootopolis. Many face standoffs on one of Sootopolis' many levels as the stars peek past the crater's tall opening.[break][break]

When arrives, she will notice that her fused BLUE ORB begins to vibrate slightly. It is close to completion; however, the last shard is nowhere to be seen.[break][break]

TO BEGIN, you must pick your STARTING POINT (e.g. level 1A, etc.). There is no real limit to how many characters can be on each level or starting point currently. However, try not to go over 6 TOTAL CHARACTERS PER LEVEL.[break][break]

For this round, please REFRAIN FROM ATTACKING each other. Instead, focus on clarifying where your characters are and what Pokemon they have called out. You may also choose to have your characters engage in dialogue.[break][break]

THIS EVENT'S BATTLEFIELD has been separated into levels (e.g. bay level, level 1-3). Characters can only attack or assist trainers or Pokemon who are on the same level as them.[break][break]

Characters can only traverse to another level once per post and at the end of their post (i.e. you can not switch levels at the beginning of your post and attack).[break][break]

Furthermore, characters can only traverse to a level that's directly adjacent to them (e.g. characters on level two can move to level one or three- but not the bay level).[break][break]

Events in the raid will shake this mechanic up. Stay tuned— and don't get too comfortable!

If a detail has been omitted, depending on the action, assume that it has contributed to a success, failed, or have it resolved collaboratively with another player that is affected by it. I'll make sure to spotlight everyone by the end of the raid, however![break][break]

Please exercise respect, humility, and a willingness to collaborate. Should RP etiquette be broken in this thread, your character may be promptly removed. Furthermore, should you miss the posting deadline, there is a chance that your character will be ejected from the raid.[break][break]

  • 6 Pokémon per character (excluding avatar power related Pokémon).
  • 3 Pokémon out max at a time (excluding avatar power related Pokémon).
  • 1 move per Pokémon.
  • soft word count limit of 300.
  • too long; don't read (tl;dr) notes are required (please make them concise).
  • bold/highlight Pokémon moves/abilities.

Why he'd been left off the notification squad for a call to arms over a gym leader being kidnapped in her own city, was beyond him.

The standard league updates came through but if rocket was acting this brazen there was no way the Commissioner wasn't utilizing A.Q.U.A. and he didn't get any word from her regarding anything. He signed the papers but perhaps this wasn't the kind of problem to send a witness to. Maybe being left off the roster was to his benefit.

Especially since he was going to be operating a bit outside the league standard tonight.

The fighting and apprehending people was what unnerved him. Ranger's solved pokemon-problems, not people-problems. Despite the fact that was probably out here somewhere didn't make the redhead overlook that the Head Ranger wasn't supposed to be chasing down bad guys; either of them. They could, but it was someone else's job. Sénon didn't liken much to being a cop.

Crimsen however, was a vigilante.

Arriving in town via teleport he started off in the elevated Northeast, set to work his way down towards the bay; maybe would be active near his apartment.

Though Gavin's gathered with a small group of Rockets on LEVEL 2A, he speaks to any Rockets who care to listen over their comms.

"The League is showing up in force. Remember that our fight is with them, not the citizens of Sootopolis. The less blood we shed, the better."

He turns his attention to the ocean below as a dark shape breaches the waves. It's barely visible against the dark sky but for the violent red of its eyes and the whites of its spines. Shadow Lugia makes its presence known with a mournful cry that sends a shiver of anticipation down Gavin's spine.

He has not bothered with a disguise. Miasma swirls around him, and his shadowed Cryogonal and Eelektross stand like sentinels at his side. Electricity sparks across the latter's lithe form as it COILS tight.

His attention shifts to his smaller group.

"We might need to fan out and cover more ground." He frowns. "If any of you have healing, stay close. I brought offense, not support."

Adrenaline already pumped. This was it.

Like others, including her brother, she wore no mask. Today, she would finally claim this identity without shame. Maybe it was in spite of , or maybe she had finally become fed up with hiding. She followed family, darkness lurking behind her eyes.

“I brought both.” She answered . As if on cue, Darkrai rose on a nearby rooftop, nodding to the underboss. Lucario stood at her other side attentively, while a massive Noctowl swept over staggering architecture, shrieking their arrival.

“We’ll go with you.”

A lot had gone on prepping for this day. Serena would be lying if she said she wasn't nervous as hell about it. This was her first major mission. Sure, she'd been on important ones before but nothing like this. But she believed she was ready, whatever happened would happen. Normally she would've been in full disguise but since she had been prepped by the higher ups, the disguise wouldn't be necessary should everything go to plan. [break][break]

Still, it felt wrong not to have anything so she opted for a mask this time. On LEVEL 2A with the rest of the Rocket group she nervously tightened her gloves waiting for the moment it was her signal to get started. "The League is showing up in force. Remember that our fight is with them, not the citizens of Sootopolis. The less blood we shed, the better." the voice of her mentor rang out, piercing her thoughts. She was glad to have his support here, especially after everything that went down before. [break][break]

"We might need to fan out and cover more ground." He frowns. "If any of you have healing, stay close. I brought offense, not support." Serena nods moving towards her mentor a bit. She'd prefer to be with him anyway. For obvious reasons like he was a fucking avatar so being with him was both safe and dangerous, but she'd like to think more safe. And they knew each other fairly well since they had been working closely for the past few months. "I have some healing so I'll stick with you if that's alright." she said softly as she stared down at Serenity. She looked nervous too whereas Cas and Jr seemed relaxed and ready for whatever. Cold breath hissed from the clenched teeth of Oscar's mask as he breathed. Each inhale was heavy, and every exhale was labored with anticipation. He had not the luxury of his peers, and was unable to stand proudly with his face exposed. Too much rode on the security of his identity; one day he wouldn't have to keep his true form disguised--but until then he would be one of the few whose face would remain hidden.

The loyal beast stood behind Gavin, flanked by his sinister shadow pokemon: Desolence the Nidoqueen and Trigon the Dodrio. On his back, his head resting on his master's shoulder, was the most insidious of all pokemon: Robbie Rotten the Naganadel. The four warriors listened carefully as Gavin spoke, sweat building on Oscar's hair from under his cloak's hood. He was nervous--no, restless. He wished to begin, every second spent waiting was as grueling as a GMH stockholder meeting. This battle would be a momentous occasion for Rocket, and he did not wish to delay it any longer.

"I'll stand by your side, as always." As Gavin ended his commands, he felt inclined to assure the Underboss of his readiness. Oscar's voice was distorted, its pitch deepened to a ghoulish level. Was it a bit much? Maybe, but then again if he had to conceal himself he figured he should go all in on the theatrics. The beast folded his arms, waiting patiently for this fateful siege to commence.

Dressed in concealing garb, their intentions are perhaps given away by their appearances. But as the night wears on it seems there are many vigilantes donning personalized uniforms that shakes up the certainty. Adrian has an Abra strapped to him in a baby carrier, a Honedge holstered on his hip and a Bronzor floating defensively around him like a halo. So not too conspicuous.[break][break]

"...You better take care of her." Warning Gavin in a brief yet grave tone, it's implied he speaks of before letting static fill the comms.[break][break]

Securing the comms gadget back to his waist, Adrian surrenders his attention to Rowan, who wears similar garb and a notably resigned demeanor. "You okay?"[break][break]

Adrian hoped to share some false bravado before things went helter-skelter.[break][break]

"Stick together and we'll get through this." He wanted to believe those words.[break][break]

Izzy had found herself in the lower areas, the sudden chaos of battle throughout the city having driven her out from her home and towards where she'd felt was immediate safety, at least for now. Her usual set of pokémon—aside from her Buneary, who'd been in her arms as she prowled the streets—had at least been safely away from Sootopolis, currently in the hands of a salon for some rest and relaxation, having planned to finally get her home cleaned up while letting them relax.[break][break]

Yet she’d found herself out here, having to escape her house when battles had made their way there. All in all, having only recently moved, she’d overall been mostly indifferent to which side to take, though leaning more towards the League than what she’d assumed was a criminal organization. Nonetheless, her priority was her safety, and the safety of the small group of pokémon she’d come across, who as far as she could tell had lost track of their trainers in the chaos.[break][break]

Izzy had tried her best to smile, “Let’s try to keep you all safe first, okay? We’ll look for your trainers once this all blows over,” she’d tried her best to reassure the pokémon, having spent most of her time applying some basic first aid for those that needed it, mostly a couple potions and full heals, the best she could really muster at this moment.[break][break]

“God I hope those two aren’t caught up in all this…” she’d muttered to herself, referring to a particular someone she hadn’t expected to meet in Sootopolis recently as well as his boyfriend, as far as she knew, they seemed to have been vacationing here.

That meant uncertainty. That meant chaos. And chaos presented its very own, unique opportunities. Especially for a new hire such as herself. A lot of Rocket members were using this opportunity to come out of the closet, so to speak, revealing themselves without masks. As far as she knew, Lulu was doing just that. Vio might, too.
Just not yet. As always, she was playing a more complicated game. She had cleared what she was going to do with beforehand. Vio was not wearing a uniform right then, just the usual kind of dress she was often seen in. She did have a cloak and stuff in her bag, but she wasn’t going to put that on just yet.

After all, there was substantial merit in appearing like a lost an terrified little citizen. While she did not have a specific target in mind just yet, she figured that she could do the most good to the cause this way. By playing the frightened doe on Bay level B, naturally. While she was hiding to the side of a building, her massive Jellicent was simply floating on the water in front of her, attacking neither side for the time being. It was very much just glaring at anyone who seemed like they wanted to come close. Though, again, it decidedly wasn’t attacking anyone, as if trying to create a small bubble of neutrality.

In her eyes, that could only lead to positives. Either, refugees would make for this area, which would eventually draw in the league. The latter might think the Jellicent was there to stop them from landing and engage, in which case she could recall it and ‘explain’ the situation. Or, on the off-chance that a certain was coming here as well, that woman would definitely recognize the Pokemon that had once almost killed her in the wild. And from there…. Vio would figure something out alright.

Although he cannot see her, Latias’s form shrouded, Angelo’s gaze slips towards where she wordlessly beckons.     “What the fuck.”

    The noise from outside isn’t missed on him as he looked up from the living room’s comfortable environs. Most of the food he’d brought out to share between himself and the other Ranger in front of him was nearly gone; mostly the drinks remained.

    Alpha the Lucario was standing guard near one of the windows, before quickly shoving the curtain shut and retreating to where the two humans were and giving Lars a worried look.

    “Are you sure?” he confirmed, before apologizing to Kaida and swiftly walking over to the window that the Lucario had recently retreated from and taking a peek—

    “What the absolute fuck.”

    He never said those words out aloud unless there was good reason for them to be mentioned.

    “Sorry,” he apologized again as he quickly dimmed the lights in the guesthouse where they were conversing. Having exchanged information about their respective battlefields on the Three-Day War, he was now acutely aware that the Drowner was out and about in the region—as proven by her words.

    “Get ready,” was all he said before making a dash to the master bedroom and snagging a small sling bag he’d brought along. Inside it were several—seventeen, in fact—very important items he made sure to keep secured as much as possible, along with a first aid kit.

    “The Rangers deal with Pokémon-related problems, not people-related problems! The hell’s up with this, getting us involved in something that’s out of our scope of expertise,” he hissed as he held a finger to his lips, a gesture for her to be as quiet as possible just in case the chaos had gotten as far as they were.

    Searching through a nearby drawer, he pulled out two small ear pieces and tested them quickly, hoping the crackling feedback wouldn’t be too loud to be overheard. Slipping one into his ear, he then handed the other to his guest for the evening.

    “Take this, in case we get separated in the chaos. We should at least keep an eye out on each other through this shit.”

    He pulled out his phone before sending a message to several other people, asking if they were anywhere near the city this evening. What a time to be alive, he thought sarcastically as he scrolled to the group labeled ‘Wayfinders.exe’ and sending them the following:

    ‘Are you guys alright or something there’s some shit goin’ down here in Sootopolis’


    • Lars and Kaida havin’ a nice long talk, trading information when shit starts going down (the noise is not missed)
    • Moving quickly, he turns off the lights in the family guesthouse and moves to the master bedroom, retrieving a certain something he’ll be lugging along for the entire course of the evening
    • Inventory in the sling bag: all 17 Silvally memories / first-aid kit / some emergency rations / water
    • Returns to the living room, gestures for Kaida to be as quiet as possible before handing her an earpiece and explaining what it does
    • Also texts a certain bunch of people
    • Starting from the Anderson guesthouse located all the way up at 3A

    I won't take part in another war, she'd told herself in the aftermath of the Lilycove raid. But war had followed her regardless, in the scars that she bore over her skin, in the bruises that bled her knuckles purple, in the silver gaze that settles over a hulking mass of darkness, dagger-sharp. 

    No, war hasn't left her at all. She's simply gotten used it. 

    The breathing device flashes red at the periphery of her vision; she won't have much longer before her oxygen supply runs out. Still she lingers close to 's Lugia, fingers curling around a     cracked blue jewel until her grip grows white-knuckled. Behind closed eyes, she imagines the ocean licking at her fingertips with unending hunger. 

    It takes her a couple minutes to break through the surface, balancing on Sirena's shell effortlessly despite the spear gun at her back and the steel that kisses her upper leg. At her side is a tiny Pincurchin and behind them, snaking through the surface of the water, is a near invisible Eelektross.

    The sound of brewing conflict spills past the pale houses of Sootopolis, unmistakeable. Her thoughts turn to , and she can't help seeking him out among cobalt rooftops even though she's too far away. If something happened...

    It wouldn't. It couldn't. She'd make sure of that.

    "We have to get to the other side, Sirena." 's house flashes in her mind, an unlikely stronghold against the battle looming ahead. But it's less the structure and more its inhabitants that worry the ship captain - and the reason why she decides to change course.

     A sheen (SAFEGUARD) envelops the trio as they dive back into the waters, heading to the distant shore.

    Amidst the rockets and league scattered causing an uproar of voices that echo off the valley walls an order rings out through league comms, calling attention to itself.

    “Attention league members, be it ranger, officer, or otherwise: this is councilman Kim Cole speaking. Prioritize evacuation over confrontation, do not let citizens get caught up in crossfire. Even if you have to force citizens to withdraw so be it, just get them to high ground and outside forces will get them out.”

    Kim’s looks overhead eyeing the situation at present: citizens revolting, rockets organizing, and a cave in need of uprooting if need be. And that’s just on this end. ’s fucking ground lizard is running rampant in their god damned volcano on the other end. He can only hope they have it handled over there

    He sighs rubbing his temples gently before a Torterra is released from its capsule.

    “Get as many citizens up here as possible, Duane, keep them safe and- if need be- ready for transport.”

    The behemoth huffs before shuffling down granting rides to any it passes on the way before making its way back up to to their current location: 3B.

    She knew not what anything called The Drowner was, but Kaida wasn't stupid. A great water Pokemon that surfaced during the Three Day War, she had thought it retreated, but the worry that permeated their conversation told her enough. It was still a great danger.

    And then a commotion started, peering out the window alongside Lars' Lucario, she hissed under her breath, "Idiots..." People could be stupid, but this stupid? Pokemon had better sense than this. She could hear talking somewhere in the city, and pointingly ignored it. Another could take care of stupid civilians, if they were not already running, then she'd rather focus on Pokemon...the war had certainly softened her views on civilians, but she still wouldn't tolerate what seemed like an intent to die.

    Half her team was returned, leaving her with Ormr on her shoulders, shoving food into his maw in preparatory Stockpile. Orvar zipped around Lars as he paced, sharing his nervousness as her speed grew through Speed Boost. Nid coiled around Kaida's feet, cooing in worry. It was a battle out there, and they needed to deal with it.

    She sneered at the earpiece, certainly not planning to let Lars out of her sight, but put it on regardless. He was texting somebody...nobody she knew was in the city, at least as far as she was aware, but perhaps he had friends? She waved, having Nid summon a Safeguard around them, and tried to pat Lars reassuringly on the shoulder. "Don't worry, I'll protect you and your friends." The way she talked, you'd think she were an Avatar and not him.

    Sootopolis had been Locke’s last stop for the day.

    He’d only meant to crash at the Pokémon Center for the night and leave again first thing in the morning. Then Team Rocket appeared and the riot started and suddenly the building with the red target on top didn’t seem half as safe as the shadowy and maze-like passages of the city.

    A familiar cry forced Locke’s gaze upwards, though they hardly needed to see the creature to recognize it. While they could barely make out the ominous form of ’s Lugia against the night sky, it was a silhouette they’d seen twice before now, and weren’t likely to forget. Worse yet, the steady beat of footsteps echoed down the alleyway while they stood in fear.

    They weren’t alone on this level.

    Locke crouched low and squeezed himself into the space between two buildings, pressing up against one of the walls as close as he physically could without becoming part of the stonework itself. The Delibird in his arms made a concerned crooning noise as he buried his face into De-De’s feathers with deep, shaky breaths. Shi-Shi took up a defensive position at the opening, obscuring her panicked trainer from whatever threats loomed outside.
