[break][break] jayden glances at the direct the megaphone is thrown at and surely enough, there is someone dark-haired with a ranger uniform. the person is unfamiliar yet somehow not. something persists at the back of jayden's mind as he stares at the other's face, but he decides to ignore it. they have more important things at hand, after all.

[break][break] breaking from the crowd, his crobat flies in front the air and picks him up easily. jayden follows the rocket underboss to the sea temple, landing on the floor just as chu-e's pokemon began to kick up a hail.

[break][break] "ala." jayden's words are soft, but captured by the golduck swimming beneath the surface of the water. a soft glow around the pokemon as he starts a rain dance just outside the boundaries of the other's hail. the water will turn to ice the closer one gets to the silver spire, but long before that, rain clouds will begin to form in the sky.

[break][break] he also calls out his orbeetle, signaling with a click of his tongue for the insect pokemon to put up a light screen to further protect the temple proper.

    [attr="class","bryanbody"] Chu-e shouting kingsman made bryan snap his neck in that direction. Razz was here? He was one of the few people from the league bryan actually liked to be around. [break][break]

    He had to ignore the man though, for his safety and to follow chu-e. He only hoped that razz would be safe afterwards. [break][break] 

    Bryan flew behind Chu-e, also making his way to the sea temple while keeping an eye out to scan for potential targets the league may have sent. Should anyone attack or try to interfere with someone on his team Bryan would order his klefki to fire off a steel beam.

    they sicken of the calm, who knew the storm
    They resurface to the sound of nearby crowds gathering at the edge of the water to be ferried away from the incoming conflict. The familiar silhouette of 's house has the captain sighing in relief. It might've provided some protection if she'd gone there as intended. But she doesn't. She can't.

    Not when the image of flickers at the edge of her vision, her head immediately snapping to try and follow the last dregs of movement with piercing, single-minded focus. Between one blink and the next, however, he's gone. Like a mirage. Like a ghost.

    The thought sends a chill down her spine.

    "What the fuck." Pincurchin disappears from the scene, replaced by a blue Dhelmise whose tendrils reach out to curl around her. There's barely a tremble to calloused fingertips when she reaches back, some of her heat lost to the ghost's chilling presence.

    A portal yawns open under them, and Skyler lets herself sink into the PHANTOM FORCE's gravity. Disappearing from sight in the time that it takes between heartbeats.

    "Angel...?"

    They're spit out into cold air where Skyler had, apparently, last seen Angelo - and unknowingly close to the Cave of Origin. Silver eyes catch the moonlight, frantically cutting through the nearby scenery in search of a familiar figure.

    Behind her, Eelektross uses LIGHT SCREEN to envelop them in a shimmery layer of protection. Simultaneously, Sirena releases a single high note.

    A few seconds later, the first few drops of RAIN DANCE splash against unruly golden curls.

    "Angel, you there?" A puzzled frown. Then, "Hey, idiot!"

    smoke covers the entirety of the area around the entrance of the cave of origins as he comes near. he'd get off of his manectric as soon as they reach it. prior, kyle has his manectric memorize scents of authorized personnel: , and . anyone besides those three that approach them will be met with a bark.

    as soon as he readies his claydol to use protect at a moment's notice should anything unpredictable happen, he phones up those within the aqua initiative.

    "securing the point of interest with a smokescreen. any of you guys able to cover the other one?"

    the smokescreen counts as an excuse why he cannot see the party that approached the silver spire that he spotted before setting up, maybe he'll use it as an excuse too when asked why he didn't investigate . out of sight, out of mind.

    Upon the return of his Torterra, the councilman helps those it had gathered off of the gentle giant’s back, speaking to the pokemon as he did.

    “Duane, keep up the good work, I’m going to try and secure the spire.”

    With only a slight huff in assurance from the Torterra, Kim heads off, a quick spin of his index summoning a ring before him.

    “Be back soon.”

    Stepping through, a Lickilicky accompanies the councilman, both of Kim’s hands resting on his beltline while the Lickilicky attempts to do the same, despite its arms just a bit too stubby to reach that low.

      "hey c'mon i know i'm the new guy on the team but ya don't have to act like i need a baby sitter that badly....i'm not trying to be a screw up." the last sentence of his is muttered under his breath so that doesn't hear it as he places the communicator on his utility belt for safekeeping. "I'll try to keep people from crowding around too much and separate them, rocket might be hiding among them so wrangling them up with-whoa!" as he tries to spell out a plan a large shadowy beast suddenly bursts from the sea and flies overhead the city. "or they might be doing that already, ok time to start this plan yesterday!"

      he sends out two more pokeballs that open up to release his glastrier and falinks, the little squad of soldiers huddling together to give off the impression of no retreat as they let out a battle cry. "yippie kayee!" the hero exclaims as he jumps onto the horse with his falinks joining him, sitting on different spots around the horse's back and in the hero's lap as he kicks the side of his steed to start racing off towards the stairways with his golurk running after him. "hold up guts! set up a sneak attack for us yeah?" he asks as they run and his golurk starts to sink into a pool of darkness that spreads with each step mid-run until he disappears fully into the ground.

      as the heroic team makes its way up the stairs pokkenger gives a hard pat to the horse's neck, "glasty let's make sure no one can use these to get away or to us alright? ice rink time!" with a snap of his fingers the glastrier fires an ice beam at the ground as it trots up the stairs leaving a trail of iced floors and ice spires growing underneath them as they make their way upward, sending a few civillians slipping and sliding to the bottom level and hopefully discouraging any to try and climb after them.

      tldr;

      as noah watches kyle disappear into his own smokey cover, the gym leader is quick to shift klinks. his eyes track the SHADOW LUGIA'S flight before landing quick on a panicked .

      "hey! need any help?!" noah says.

      on bouffalant, he moves to mason's and his milotic's side. a hand reaches for the other's shoulder for comfort— but the ever shifting swirl of bedlam lures his eyes above.

      he sees patrick— no, gavin merlino. the name smells of newspaper ink and the ichor of betrayal. noah lowers his voice, speaking to mason, "know how to battle? cover me. if you can."

      roaring, he and his bouffalant mobilize with a clamor of hooves.

      "coulson! SCORCHING SANDS!" noah's diggersby runs alongside them, large ear-hands pawing the earth and collecting debris. with harsh friction, the bunny hurls a storm of hot burning sand toward 's general location. "patrick!" he screams, voice hoarse from adrenaline.

      his machamp runs alongside them too as they gallop toward LEVEL 2A.

      Gavin turns, sharp, to the sound of a name that is not his own.

      SHADOW LUGIA lets out a furious shriek as scorching sands are hurled toward its avatar. The warbling whalesong seeks to rend the heavens, clouds darkening with the threat of RAIN. An uncomfortable PRESSURE settles beneath her vengeful presence.

      CRYOGONAL acts as an icy shield, a BANEFUL BUNKER positioned in front of the underboss in case the rain alone couldn't counteract the sands.

      "Am I 'kill on sight', then, Faber?"

      Gavin's low voice rumbles threat and anger. SHADOW MIASMA swirls around him in defiance of the wind, snaking around his Pokemon like a vaporous void. He whistles and clicks his tongue.

      He gestures in the vague direction of Bouffalant. With a crackle of electricity, EELEKTROSS fires a ZAP CANNON toward the charging bull.

      With his communications kept open to his Rocket allies, Gavin raises his voice over the din.

      "Gym leader has launched an unprovoked attack on sector 2A."

      They drifted towards the back of the guest house to escape, Kaida unwilling to face the conflict of being attacked in plain sight...she wondered if she should feel guilty about this. She'd do her job, if that required evacuation, she'd do it (Even if it wasn't a Pokemon problem), but in the moment, she was more concerned with keeping her, her family, and Lars' heads on their bodies. It was a stomach dropping thought, she didn't want to die.

      As a rain was suddenly whipped up some distance away, Ormr screamed in the only way he could, a loud hiss that Kaida had never heard from her trusty partner. The gigantic, flying monster ( 's Shadow Lugia), was striking at the city, leaking shadowy miasma that turned it into the very definition of a nightmare. Glare shone from his eyes, an instinctive reaction activated when the predator became the hunted. At the same moment, Orvar directed a concentrated Bug Buzz, another instinctive reaction to the terror before them.

      They had never met a threat they couldn't beat, but Kaida understood animal reaction, terror. Fight or flight, and for the first time in a long time, she chose flight. "Hide! Hide us!" Kaida called, beckoning Nid in a hurry, the Dragonair hurrying to Mist the area as she started to retreat. Whatever method they used to escape, they made away from the beast, Kaida's Pokemon either clinging to her as she escaped with their trusted leader, or flying close like a buzzing guardian.

      Oscar watched the chaos erupt across the city, his only regret being that he wasn't high enough to get a better view. Everything just fit together so well, it almost made him forget that they still had so much work to do. Speaking of, a burst of smoke would soon catch the beast's eye. Oscar turned his head toward the billowing cloud, obscuring a very familiar cave opening. Oscar was quick to point it out.

      "Look there, built into the bottom of the city. That would be the Cave of Origin. The very same the league ambushed Lex, Rowan, and I."

      Anger began to flow through Oscar as the memory infested his brain. Suddenly he felt compelled to find vengeance, to claim the prize that had been denied to him. Oscar turned fully to Gavin, "Sir, it would be in our best interest to secure the cave. A great power rests within, and if the league manages to--"

      Oscar was interrupted by a hoarse bellow, and by the time he turned to find its source they would already be under attack. Robbie, being the most clever of all pokemon, was able to react much more quickly than his master. He fully latched onto Oscar with his claws before flying out of the way of the burning sand. Oscar looked to their assailant, and cursed under his breath as heroically galloped toward their position. Oscar quickly gave commands, "Desolence, Sludge Wave. Trigon, retrieve the pretty boy." 

      Desolence roared, slamming a foot into the ground sending cracks across the landscape. Purple ooze bubbled beneath her, rising to form a pool of toxic liquid. Desolence stomped with her other foot, sending the ooze forward as a wretched tidal wave. The primary aim was to block out as much of the burning sand as she could. If the wave happened to hit that creepy looking rabbit, all the better.

      Trigon meanwhile bent down low to the ground before leaping high into the air. At the peak of their accent, the heads would attempt to find the perfect place to send their trajectory. They had to be careful and strike at the right time, lest they accidentally get hit by their ally's Zap Cannon. They began to fall, and as they stuck one talon fully out they would carefully attempt to land on the blue haired invader (High Jump Kick).

      tl;dr
      --Oscar notices something happening by the Cave of Origins, and notifies Gavin of its importance.
      --Robbie Rotten latched onto Oscar and flies him out of harm's way as Noah approaches.
      --Desolence used Sludge Wave to clash with the Scorching Sands and hopefully prevent most of it from reaching her allies.
      --Trigon used High Jump Kick to leap into the air, aiming to land right on top of Noah and knock him off his steed.

      The loud hissing from the Ekans was what little warning Lars had as he looked up and saw—

      There were storm clouds gathering… below their vantage point? He wondered what was up until he caught sight of—

      Holy fucking shit what was that?!

      ‘Let me level with you.’

      ‘What?’ he asked the snarking voice in his head. For once the deity wasn’t speaking to attack him.

      ‘Forgive the Kalosian again, but that shit’s bad news. Let’s clear out!’

      ‘Right behind you,’ he replied, pinching the bridge of his nose as he made to grab his water flask and shove it into the sling bag he wore. Now that the place was empty, he locked the door and walked right out into the covering Mist that Kaida’s Dragonair had whipped up for them.

      ‘I’ll need you to be brave for a bit. Don’t reveal yourself, but drop a Blizzard over where that bad presence is. Again, don’t show yourself! Follow us once you’re done!’ he replied.

      With a sigh, the Articuno moved from their hidden vantage point, soaring among the cloud cover until they were—close enough to the area below them, before dropping a Blizzard attack in surprise and retreating back to where Lars waited (still among what little cloud cover was there), having already summoned his Metagross.

      Godspeed, whoever was attacking from below.

      Once he’d helped Kaida onto Ro’s flat head, a single soft knock and they were off, the Metagross tucking in its massive legs and using Magnet Rise to travel under the cover of the Mist; moving away from the rubicon source of miasmic evil to regroup.

      Attacking with just two against an unknown number of potential targets can very well lead into an ambush, right? he thought as they made for safety.


      • Gets warning from Kaida’s Ekans about the—evil presence down below
      • Articuno flies among what little cloud cover there is before dropping a Blizzard at the 2A section and retreating afterward still shrouded among the clouds (following Lars, Kaida & their ’mons)
      • Lars has already summoned Ro, helps Kaida on
      • Metagross then uses Magnet Rise (1 / 5), gets on Ro’s head and they’re off under the shroud of Mist from Kaida’s Dragonair
      • Lars and Kaida are moving to 3B to regroup, 2 versus many on 2A is a bad idea you know?

      The boy was brought back to his senses when someone held his shoulder and spoke to him. He didn’t realise how petrified he was. Something definitely could have happened if not for the man. ”I-I’m fine.” he replied with a nervous grin. [break][break]

      He actually did not know what in Archeus name was happening, but the man seemed to know what he was doing. So he simply put a blind trust on him. [break][break]

      ”I’ll do my best,” he answered. He knew that that question alone was not a good sign. But he had to be strong. He would not let his fear get to him. He brought out his Torterra, Terry and his Volcarona, Elio out. Because it seemed like things were getting very serious and he’d rather be prepared than sorry. [break][break]

      Mason and his Pokemon then followed behind Noah to Level 2A and boi he did not expect to be getting into action immediately. With the rain providing the MILOTIC with a water-type attack boost, she did not hesitate and used WATER PULSE on ’s Eelektross. Whereas the TORTERRA followed it up with a SEED BOMB at the Eelektross.       The VOLCARONA performed a QUIVER DANCE and stayed near his trainer, as he was more worried for Mason. This was all too sudden and adrenaline were surely filling his veins by then. ”Holy fuck,” he cursed just to let it all out of his system. [break][break]

      Izzy had turned to the source of the voice that had been reassuring that he’d keep people safety and an exit from Sootopolis if needed, what more, some masked stranger seemed to be advocating him… though he looked a little suspicious, so she wasn’t sure how much she should trust the second person. Regardless, she’d considered the option yet, with people out and about battling one another and doing terrible things, looking at the pokémon she was in charge of that she’d known blatantly wasn’t her own… the chance that there were more lost and afraid pokémon, even people, worried her more than just her own personal safety.[break][break]

      Swallowing her own fear, she’d turned away and headed deeper into Sootopolis, making her way up the flight of stairs in search of anyone else who needed rescue—she knew she was just a civilian, and Sootopolis was practically a warzone, but she’d made her mind up on what kind of person she wanted to be, and even if it was stupid, she had to do this.[break][break]

      As if fate itself wanted to prove a point, it hadn’t taken long before she’d heard the crying of a pokémon, a small Larvesta hiding away behind some crates that she’d just barely spotted. She’d carefully approached it, knowing the dangers of a scared pokémon, doing her best to try to take care of it whilst avoiding presenting herself as a threat. She’d quickly pulled out a poké ball to capture it for now and try to keep it safe… though she wasn’t sure if it was a wild Larvesta or if it was separated from its trainer, but she’d tried her best to reassure it nonetheless.
