LATE SEPTEMBER — as ultra wormholes are sighted in the seas of hoenn, the region begins to be tainted by poisons, the source of which is unknown. parts of hoenn's seas darken with toxic waste, like oil spills. for this reason, head scientist, lucas lane, has entrusted volunteers with a special antidote formula that he has helped create with elite four, thomas benoit's sludge sample.[break][break][break]

the seas have been unruly lately. within route 110, by the seaside cycling road, waves have taken a mass of qwilfish have been brought into the waters here. however, the qwilfish look sickly. more poisonous than before. to handle these pokemon, one must be careful, for they are prone to use the move, EXPLOSION.[break][break][break]

Displaced water rains down on them as the Pokemon faints, unable to resist further attempts to apply the antidote. Fernando sneers at the fallen Pokemon, barely able to make out how swollen its pins are. He makes a note to send a sample to the science department as he lobs an empty Pokeball at one.

No doubt, clearing out a practical minefield of Qwilfish would be a dangerous job. So to best combat the risk of being poisoned, Pokemon with ranged capabilities would need to be employed. And just in case something went wrong, a healer wouldn't hurt. This is where Colt, Thomas' faithful Clawitzer, would come into play. From a safe distance, the Clawitzer would fire off Dragon Pulses at the minefield of Qwilfish with the aid of his Mega Launcher.

And just in case any of the others got hurt, while it would still require an Antidote to deal with the poisons themselves, Clawitzer's potent Heal Pulse would at least provide relief for anyone who got hurt.

more and more areas in hoenn are succumbing to the vicious invasion of poison, surges of hostile pokémon attacks pop from all corners of the region. after the attacks in lilycove and fortree, selena has put herself on a patrol to report the effects of ultra beast toxic to the local wildlife.[break][break]

she receives reports of similar anomalies nearby slateport, about a school of qwilfish washed into the seaside and causing troubles for residents. they say the fish explodes when attempted to approach, spreading the poison they are engorged with. arriving on the scene with her toxapex, the water and poison-type carries the antidote for her trainer and begins treating the group of qwilfish. its baneful bunker proves effective in protectint itself and her trainer. meanwhile, the journalist documents the scene with her pokénav, lenses shifting from one qwilfish into another, featueing the changes in their physique.[break][break]

the rasp of an arrow against his decidueye's wing brings marcel's attention back to the situation. the pokemon aims at a faraway qwilfish, undeterred by the distance thanks to its LONG REACH. it stills, tense, once it has found its mark, waiting for its trainer's signal.

The Explosion made Skyler's ears ring, but it was thankfully far enough away that it didn't do any damage. The small Qwilfish swam on the surface, their round bodies parting the waters and leaving poisonous residue in their wake.

Polaris floated in the surface of the water, its jewel glowing a soft pink as it yeeted any approaching Qwilfish away with its PSYCHIC powers, the echoing booms of their explosions making it impossible to hear anything.

Skyler's eyes narrowed at the group of Qwilfish gathering near one of the bridge's pillars. When they started to glow, the sailor cursed loudly.

Before they could blow the pillar to smithereens, a PSYCHIC forcefully shoved them away from the cement construction. They ensuing explosion was impressive, and Skyler winced at the sudden pain in her eardrums. The pillar, fortunately, was unscathed.

Despite the large number of reports that have been pouring in, a new one never fails to take the gym leader by surprise. An attack, a swarm of poisoned pokemon, bodies of rangers— what’s next?

When does this end and how can it be stopped?

Questions like these feel like the new norm. The new state of their region. Answers were far and few between.

Katherine’s Musharna is the perfect pokemon for this job, it seems. Their ability, FOREWARN, ensures that nothing can escape their natural, psychic awareness. It comes in handy when several Qwilfish attempt to suicide, and the psychic-type surpasses them with its speed and does so first.

A beautiful, misty explosion takes place only a second before the water-types get to explode themselves. The Musharna faints, of course, but they’re successful all the same. After all, administering the antidote is much easier when handling unconscious pokemon.

water vapor in the air starts to moist the area up with the appearance of kyle's jellicent.

the composition of the jellicent manages to make its surroundings damp, discouraging the presence of any explosion happening from the group of sick qwilfish in the era. it's here for safety more than anything else, providing passive support that would have been needed considering the risks these pokemon show.

kyle remains away from the site, although his jellicent was present to make sure that the other volunteers don't share the risk of explosion. he observes from afar as he makes little bits of notes in his head. for a moment, he's thankful that he wasn't a ranger that would be responsible for the rehabilitation of these pokemon.
