LATE SEPTEMBER — as ultra wormholes are sighted in the seas of hoenn, the region begins to be tainted by poisons, the source of which is unknown. parts of hoenn's seas darken with toxic waste, like oil spills. for this reason, head scientist, lucas lane, has entrusted volunteers with a special antidote formula that he has helped create with elite four, thomas benoit's sludge sample.[break][break][break]

dustox begin to proliferate around the streetlamps of mossdeep. although the night sky is beautiful to see when everything is dark, those needing to navigate the city in the night find it difficult, if not terrifying, to see large moths crowding these lights.[break][break][break]

As he rounds a corner, streetlights seem to flicker and flash in an unnatural way. It's enough to give him pause, the Lycanroc at his side letting out a low growl as it sniffs the air. That's when he spots them — Dustox, tons of them, light struggling to pierce their shimmering wings as they dance around lampposts. Lycanroc's red-eyed glare follows the path of one moth in particular, salivating.[break][break]

He hasn't been contracted to help but upon seeing other trainers combating the fluttering menace, Gavin decides he might as well.[break][break]

A gentle flick of his wrist is the only confirmation Lycanroc needs before it lunges. Its fists erupt into flames that bath the immediate area in a warm light as it lashes out with fiery punches.[break][break]

In the aftermath, Gavin dons his gas mask upon noticing others coughing on poisonous spores. His nose wrinkles in annoyance, but he remains to help.

like hunting in its natural habitat, sticky web from his ribombee proliferate the area, except this time, it's the ribombee that's acting to be one of the pokemon above the food chain rather than being below.

the dustox gets stuck with the traps set by the ribombee, making it easier to dispatch them by the clean-up crew. everything gets settled eventually as soon as they pin the perpetrators down with the said move.

kyle, appropriated with with a gas mask to protect himself from the toxins, start to direct a specialized unit towards parts of the city to take care of the poisonous dust left by the dustox.

The Araquanid skulked in the shadows as it approached the light pole.

Golden slivers of lamp light flicker in and out of existence as the cocoon of dustoxs flutter sporadically. Araquanid's body is illuminated during these brief moments. With each passing second they get closer to the light pole.

Lunging at the pulsating cocoon of dustoxes Araquanid tears it apart, skewing countless bugs with its thin elongated limbs.

Rounding up the large moth pokemon was easy for the scientist with the aid of the large red arachnid by her side. Silky web spewed from its mandibles, the material cloaked in a wispy yellow as it popped and crackled with electricity. Not only did the electro web allow more light to otherwise brighten up the dark streets, but proved more than effective in encasing the pesky dustox within a sticky web of containment, leaving them helpless until a ranger of whomever else could arrive to deal with them. The poison types were dealt with by the scientist swiftly and efficiently, rounded up and left in a neat, if not ethically questionable, tied up 'bag' of electrified web.

Dustox. Giant bug pokemon with an affinity towards light. Granted, they were certainly pretty but they were crowding the lights used to see at night and navigate the roads. Luckily, Ruby had the perfect pokemon for the occasion.

Quickly sending out Cinnamon, the Cinderace hopped back on their feet ready to go. Quite competitive, they were obviously eager for their trainers praise as they took in the scene around them. Perhaps it would be easy to just attack the Dustox flying in, but Ruby had a bit of a better idea.

"Cinnamon, let's use PYRO BALL and lead them out of town, huh? Burn that fire bright and lets get going!" The bunny immediately kicked a stone onto their foot, bouncing it up and down as it quickly combusted into flames that began to be bounced and kicked around, almost like a soccer ball. With its incredibly bright flames, Cinnamon would practically begin playing pied piper with the moths, leading them slowly out of town.

Stormy brandishes her Centiskorch like a whip. She advances on the pesky Dustox like a white clad in a legendary fire armor set. She screams as her feet pound the earth -- or maybe its her Pomemom screaming in fear as he is used as a weapon.

"Back! Get back, damn fool!"

The Centiskorch cracks like a whip, FIRE LASHING the Dusktox. They shriek as flames eat up their dusty wings and they turn o flee. Stormy is eventually forced to pat down her arms as the excitement and enthusiasm of her attacks had startled her Pokémon into setting herself on fire as well.

This was a truly tragic day for dustox everywhere. Here they were, minding their own business, just trying to bask in the glow of the weird metal lights scattered across the city. Yet when they felt most secure, the swarm was assaulted by a vicious group of humans. Dozens fell to their malicious onslaughts, it was a massacre unlike any other in moth history.

Fighting back was futile, how could they possibly expect to match up against humans and their trained pokemon. As their numbers dwindled, several dustox decided it was best to flee. They shall one day return in greater numbers, and take their revenge against humanity. However, as the fleeing dustox dove into a nearby alley they would find no reprieve.

They flew face first into an intricate Spider Web, reaching from wall to wall within the alley. Struggle as they might, the moths could not break free. They began to screech for help, but as more came they too would just end up stuck in the web.

Oscar approached his trap, a spinarak sitting on his shoulder. He patted his spider companion on the head, "Good work Abner, ugh if only I had some pokeballs. Such a waste. " Abner the spinarak squeaked with delight, pleased to be given praise. Oscar turned his back on the struggling moths and walked off, not giving a second thought to their fate.
