What weak lights they have atop their foreheads isn't strong enough to pierce the darkness that lies beyond their massacred wall. Stormy steps gingerly through the rubble, attempting to adjust the light on her helmet.

"Do you guys hear that? Come help me shine some light in here."

She returns Aegislash in favor of Wadjet, allowing the dark-toned Charizard to manifest next to her. With the beast's flame on her tail coupled with her fire punch glowing through her claws, the pair manage to shine just a little bit of light. Stormy glances over her shoulder expectantly before taking the first step alongside her Pokemon.

As soon as the final tile is broken, it reveals a number of hidden treasures. Among them is an ancient vase that falls down and rolls until it's finally stopped by one of Katherine's legs. The gym leader inspects the object with her gaze first, kneeling down to pick up the ceramic creation if only to give it a closer look.

“I wonder how this got here.”

Unfortunately, it lacks any flare or beauty that could compel Kat to keep it. Without any care or regard for its condition, it is let go of, and when it meets the ground? A piece of it breaks off, the Rocket obviously paying it no mind.

“No diamonds. I suppose we have to go in deeper.” The gym leader's Froslass is recalled and replaced with a Starmie, who’s quick to ILLUMINATE the dark cave with its deep, ruby-red light. At Stormy's request, the Starmie shifts and turns its focus to the direction of the elite four member, following her lead.

"man it's dark..."

the sound of pokemon crying out caught his ear. as everyone aided in lighting the path before them, mateo prepared to take a step before him. sadly, before he could, a morpeko would come to clingingly tackle the dragon tamer from behind. causing him to fall face first, "fuck!" he cried as a knot formed on his forehead.

it was a pokemon he met sometime ago. the multicolored mouse relentlessly nuzzled him. suddenly, the morpeko started to prep electricity throughout its body. mateo, quicklu cringing in fear, took precaution. "hell no, not this time: dragon toss!" he would send the morpeko flying with one swing into the darkness. simultaneously the morpeko would utilize SPARK, a move constantly used whenever it became excited to see the dragon tamer.

as it flew like a baseball into the depths of the shadow realm, it would light their path as its body surged with constant electricity.

notes: morpeko used spark and mateo physically threw it forward and into hell.

Venturing deeper into the cavern, Katherine allows her Starmie to lead the way and ILLUMINATE the darkest areas with its bright light. It reveals some of what they're expected to deal with - another blockade.

It seemed as if this was far from the last wall they’d have to tear down, but of course, she has no qualms with such a fate.

Her water-type is replaced with a fire-type, a Flareon who’s quick to assess the dark area with its big eyes, blinking them all the while. ”Smog. The rest of them will follow our lead,” She promises her partner, who dares not to question her. A thick, poisonous gas escapes through the lips of the pokemon and slowly seeps into the wall, filtering through the cracks that were already there.

“We should pick up our pace.”

[attr="class","spiral"]It’s not quite a cave in but the newfound rubble surrounding them proves disparaging enough to cut the conversation short. “Return,” he whispers to his Pokemon before rescinding it back into its Pokeball. This time, he lets out a Wheezing, directing it to float as close as the wall as possible.

“Smog.”

It releases a mild fume from one of the numerous exhaust pipe like pores that dot its body. The poison gas seeps between the unseen openings and erodes at stone like wet sugar crystals.

For good measure, Fernando releases his own smog. The MISTY TERRAIN the spills from his clothing provides them another safety net should their poison turn against them.

Salazzle emits her own smog to penetrate and expand in the cracks of the walls. Several more smogs of poisonous gas leak through, and Stormy remains close to Fernando on the off chance this whole situation backfires. His misty terrain is a comforting haze, nullifying the poison before it gets too close.

The Salazzle hisses quietly under her breath as she returns to Stormy's side, likely bearing gifts. Stormy kneels down to see what is being presented.

If it’s their way to focus, then so be it. She’d rather succeed silently than fail thanks to some chitchat. Her Flareon is recalled shortly after the combined poisonous gas manages to break a tile, and instead, a Rotom is sent out. It levitates around, moving periodically— almost as if twitching.

“Astonish.”

She requests, and it delivers.

[attr="class","spiral"] Bedrock melts as the SMOG passes through. The previous cave-in means that they require nuance in breaking deeper into the cavern. Fernando swaps his Pokemon to his Galarian Corsola and it attacks with ASTONISH. The surprise of the attack does little damage but that's fine. As long it gives way and grants them a path forward, he's content.
