Opportunities are slim now most had their pieces filled and were waiting on assembly, Thankfully Miles' last excavation was fruitful and so he lacks a final piece. Kabuto guides and as they peruse the lower side of the bluff the pokemon once again begins to circle a series of stones embedded in the bluff. Knowing the drill the kabuto begins to dig it's tiny claws in a circle surrounding what the two suspect to be another fossil piece.

As the kabuto finishes its circle Miles slides the hammer into one of the newly created grooves carefully excavating the assumed piece as he'd done time and time again. With any luck, this would be the final and the two would be able to proceed, chances were slim and judging by the time he'd have maybe one more chance to excavate if he was lucky.

After he was lowered back into the hole, Chu-e found another potential fossil rather quickly! It was cool, and in return he even popped the duplicate piece of fossil into the place the second one had taken.

After being brought back up, a quick dusting showed it was...a new piece! Yes! That one left one more area to search and one more piece... he wondered if he could find it in time. He was slower moving and it seemed like most of the pieces had been scooped up already.

The other Dreepy gave one last rattle of the wall, chipping a piece of Michiko's fossil in the process. Or maybe Baja flinging it out of the tunnel and sending it skittering dangerously close to the edge was the real cause of the fracture. Either way, Michiko carefully collected both pieces and put them in a smaller Tupperware for safekeeping.

She found time wearing on her. With two pieces of fossil intact, she needed to find the last one quickly. Michi closed her eyes, envisioning the pesky Linoone busting through the Pyroar topiary in her backyard, and knew what she needed to do.

Pulling herself to the highest part of an outcropping, Michi set Baja dangling on his emergency rope below her. She'd need to use his hard head like a diamond drill as soon as Doree found another potential fossil in the cave floor below.

"Double-Edji!" she cried in her best impression of an infomercial salesman who often came on daytime TV when she was watching the food network. Baja splayed his claws as the rope went slack and he dropped from the cave wall, arrow-shaped head illuminating with light as he drove himself down like a black-and-white spear.

The rock broke open as if cleft by an axe, revealing a hard, heavily ridged core.

With things getting down to the wire and lots of people finding duplicates, he decided it was time to make an announcement. A ding dong sound rang out over the arena as Glitch pressed the button to make his voice louder. "Attention competitors, you may now seek out other fossils from other players and trade or gift extras as needed. Thank you." the only downside to that was if they had an extra and they traded it off, what if they happened to break that piece during assembly and could no longer replace it?

Chu-e hadn't quite made it to the water section to hunt for that last piece. The first two areas had tired him out. It was a shame he ran out of time. Three pieces but one of them was a duplicate! Shame.

But! It seemed that Laurence Anderson was coming out of the murky water. And he was looking for trades!

"I have an extra head piece." As if to prove it he carefully took it out of his bag. "Do you have an extra bottom piece? It's the only one I didn't find."

Already he was carefully holding out the spare top piece for Lars to take.

With the trade done, Chu-e had managed to scrape by by the skin of his teeth.

With exactly one piece of each, Chu-e moved with his two pokemon to take a spot on the left as instructed.

Leaning over, he gave Polka Dots and Grapefruit some pats on the head to thank them for their help.

With one final cinch of the lead, Baja the Linoone dropped back onto the cave floor, sinking back exhausted onto his haunches. A much spryer Michi was close behind him, barely seeming winded as she unclipped her rope from her climbing belt. 

"I have finished... I think!" Michi exclaimed, hurrying forward to join the line of people with completed fossils on the left. She set down her bag to rummage around inside and pull out three different fossil pieces, each stored in an airtight Tupperware container. "This one, hmm, it has a little chip... but maybe it is OK!" Perhaps her husband would be disappointed, but Michi was eager to complete the next challenge!
