Oh, he’d found another thing! The Meowstic Psychically lifted it out of the water for all to see...that it was just a shiny, possibly valuable rock. Not a fossil, unless something got fossilized with a rock for an eye.

Disappointed, the Meowstic dropped the rock back in the lake. Their success rate with this area wasn’t nearly as good as the other areas, was it? “Think maybe we should get back to another area?” Hideo asked. “I’m sure we might find a midsection if we-”

Hideo felt his foot hit a weird spot in the ground. He nearly stumbled, though he was able to keep his balance (and his pieces) thanks to his Ambipom. “Hey, check this spot out,” he said, his Ambipom taking a break from forcing the Meowstic to search (though still holding him in her tail-hand - no release yet) to dig into the ground.

Hideo would have dug for it himself, but his hands were full at the moment.

The body piece came out of the mud with a soft pop, the mud struggling to suck back in its hidden treasures. Mint fell flat on his ass with a loud SQUISH! Cacio moved towards him to nudge him back up before he stayed too long in the mud. “I’m fine, I’m fine!!” he said with a laugh. He’d never really played in mud before either. It was weirdly…soothing. He shoved his hand in the mud and just squished for a little bit. While he was distracted, Bucatini roared something, lifting their hand as they felt something under the water. [break][break]

The introduction comes along finely and Glitch announced the procedure of how everything will go. Lyssa smiles feeling grateful that the process is simple but she stops the briefing with something ominous-sounding. Everyone starts to scurrying around trying to find the fossils while Lyssa decides to take her time. "Well... Agni, Thalia - Let's have fun shall we?" Lyssa ruffles both of their head as they let out a happy cry. Agni quickly bolts off and bounces from one place to another, climbing trees as if he is the reincarnation of a mankey while Thalia looks around and tries to lift up rocks just to see if there is something underneath it. Not wanting to lose, Lyssa starts to look around - Climbing hills with such nimble movement. Right after she lands on the hill that she was climbing, "... Punny! Lopunny!" Thalia cries suddenly made Lyssa startle and lose her balance. She thought that she is going to fall but suddenly something like a bullet hit her back forcing her stumbles forward and fall to the ground in front of her. "Scor... Scorbunny?" Agni appears from behind apparently Agni suddenly bounced and hit her back to make sure that Lyssa doesn't fall from the hill. "Hahaha... Thank you Agni" Lyssa thanked Agni, patting her body from the dust that gathers from the previous fall. Fortunately, there are no injuries that pertain to her body. "Let's go to where Thalia is. She has been calling for us" Lyssa stands up and climbs down the hill but now with extra care unlike before. [break][break]

Approaching the Lopunny, Thalia keeps pointing at the big rock that in front of her. It is too big for her to pick up but it shouldn't be too hard for Lyssa to pick them up. However, that is not what Thalia calls her - There is something protruding from the ground on the edge of the rock. "You did a great job" Lyssa praise Thalia as she pick up the rocks then try to dig the ground to find a fossil. [break][break]

“Another tail piece?”

“We finally got a body piece?”

The thrill of success ran through Hideo; they’d gotten enough pieces to form an entire fossil! But that didn’t mean he had to stop right there; he still had to get more pieces to take home! Real or not, it would be pretty awesome to have a fossil lying around his room.

And it sounded like a lot of other people were starting to get their searches on, so he had to go quickly if he wanted a souvenir!

But first, a mercy: “We got enough pieces, so you should put Miles down,” Hideo said, his Ambipom nodding as she released the Meowstic. Miles pouted, brushing himself off, but only got a sneer from the larger Pokemon.

“We got good luck with the ground, so let’s keep digging around.” By “we” he meant “you two” because his hands were full with all these pieces, and he wouldn’t dare risk losing any by putting them down.

Okay, so like...what is she supposed to do with this? It's pretty hard to lug around a tail like this, and she's supposed to be finding more bones, right? So Luka does her best to try and pack up her first fossil while her Musharna and Growlithe work together to find some more.[break][break]Plum hovers near the cave walls, searching for any areas that look suspicious. As soon as she spots one that looks promising Brulee is on the scene, digging again to pull out more bones for their collection.[break][break]

The pile in his arms wasn’t getting any smaller, not at all helped by the head piece his Meowstic uncovered and Psychic’d up on top. He wasn’t going to be able to hold many more in his arms. “You guys wanna, uh, help me with these?” he asked.

It was fortunate that his Meowstic was the one to answer his call, looking over the pile and pulling the tail pieces out. “Thanks, Miles,” Hideo said, “Guess you can hold some while Pom-”

He felt the bony tails be slid into his pockets. “Oh. Well, I guess that works.” Spared his arms some pain, though that was gonna make running more awkward.

While those two were busy solving that inventory management puzzle, the Ambipom was searching the ground for more pieces.

It's kind of fun, actually. Fitting old bones together like a jigsaw puzzle, piecing together annals of history. Luka takes a grinning selfie of herself with a sizeable rib bone and sends it over to Remiel Calcifet and paxton concordas, showing off her latest find. Of course, she makes sure to properly credit Brulee for his find, sending another photo of him proudly trotting over with a large femur clenched between his jaws.[break][break]

It's easy to forget that this is a gym challenge, now that they've settled into things and are starting to have some fun. Musharna and Growlithe continue to work together, picking out another promising spot to dig. At first they unearth only stones, but eventually some more bones are visible. What luck! Luka can only hope that this will complete a skeleton for their team.

Hideo heard his Ambipom does something through the air, and he heard his Meowstic grab the projectile with Psychic energy. “So what’d she find this time?” Hideo asked, the answer given fairly quickly as felt another tail-piece get slid into his pocket. “Well dang, we really are gonna make a Mega Ambipom, aren’t we?”

That got a brief cheer from his Ambipom, and an eye-roll from his Meowstic. “But we still gotta get another set to take home, so keep on lookin!” Even if his arms had to suffer a bit more, he was planning to take more than a badge back with him today.

His enthusiasm earned salute from his Ambipom, who went over to the walls to inspect them for any out-of-place bricks another piece may be hiding behind. She was having good luck with this spot.

With one fossil is in her pocket, she starts to look around again. Wondering where she can find another piece for her to keep. Agni bolts off once again while Thalia walks around trying to help. Especially for Agni who is more fired up in finding the fossil since he doesn't want to lose with Thalia. "Agni! Don't rush, you will get tired faster!" Lyssa shouts trying to warn Agni, "Scooor!!" Agni cries happily completely disregarding her warning while he is leaping to climb a small hill. "...punny" Thalia let out a sigh, shaking her head. [break][break]

Lyssa tries to look around through the bushes, pile of rocks, and she even attempt to lightly dig the ground but she just couldn't find it. Until Agni makes a fuss and shouts while jumping up and down calling for his trainer and Thalia. "Hahaha... from the sounds of it, he must have found one. Let's go Thalia" Lyssa laughs walking to where Agni is. There was a huge tree near Agni with a huge root coming out from the ground. However, there is a small burrow near the base of the tree and Agni is trying to crawl in carefully. A moment later, he brought out a fossil for her. [break][break]

It had been some time and Glitch had nearly dozed off in his wheelchair. It sucked being on medication and sick all of the time. But still he jolted awake once Joycon shocked him a bit. He had fucked up. But it was fine. Rubbing his face a bit he yawned. "Now... If anyone is missing pieces, you can try and convince others to trade with you so that you can continue into the next round." He felt bad for missing most of that last round. But he'd just watch it on the replays while they were putting their fossils together or something.

While she was going to look around for the next fossil to at least finish all of her collection, glitch maverick announced the next phase of the challenge and now she needs to ask others for the missing pieces. "Ah, now what... I barely have enough to trade for anything." Lyssa groans, scratching the back of her head. "If I could get at least one head fossil, that would be great" Lyssa murmur as she wanders around trying to find other participants. Hopefully, someone has an extra abundance for the head fossils and wants to give one to her. Agni and Thalia look at her trainer and starts to run searching for other participants. [break][break]

Some moments later, Agni calls for Lyssa signaling that he founds someone. When she walks to Agni's way - She found a young man with his Ambipom. 'If I remember correctly, his name should be Hideo Kino` Lyssa thinks to herself and goes out to him. "Hi, fancy to meet you here" Lyssa greets him casually. "I am Lyssa one of the participants. Can I ask you for a favor?" Lyssa is going to try her luck, "I just need one head fossil to at least complete my fossil collection. If you have some excess for head fossils, can you at least spare me one, pretty please?"

For much of the time they were free to search, Derek found himself facing obstacle after obstacle. Not even those existing within the area, but those created by his own pokemon. Ghaul, the Tyrunt, clearly did not take a liking to his earlier comment.

The little guy, as he put it, was nipping at the heels of Derek and his Machamp, even going so far as to snap one of the fossil fragments they came across. When all was said and done, they hadn't a single fossil fragment to their name. For that reason, the Tyrunt was given a time-out inside it's pokeball.

What a bummer. Swift footsteps carry a frustrated Derek closer to the others who've begun to gather, allowing him to greet luka chêne and mint frost. "Yo!" Their hands, or those of their pokemon appear to be full. "Looks like you guys found a ton."

Another tail. Maybe leaving his Ambipom to do all the searching was starting to prove fruitless, though it ensured that he'd have a Mega Ambipom at the end of this. Probably her plan; it could be hard to predict what Pom planned sometimes.

But before he could acquire a sixth tail piece, glitch maverick announced the end of the search. Hideo was guided back to the center by his Ambipom, his Meowstic following close by, keeping an eye on his massive pile of fossils. Fortunately, he had more than enough pieces to work with.

Once they reached the spot, Hideo gently lowered his pile, placing it on the ground. His Pokemon made sure none of the pieces went anywhere as he emptied his pockets of any tail pieces.

Now it was just a matter of waiting.

Until Eylyssa Kay came over, asking for a piece. Hideo's Meowstic immediately got between her and the pile, shaking his head as he glared at her; he could see that denying her a piece would mean one less competitor for the badge.

A shame Hideo didn't see it that way. "Sure!" he said, grabbing a head piece from his pile and handing it over to Eylyssa.

His Meowstic was less than pleased, walking over to the boy and (lightly) punching him in the thigh. "Ow!" the boy exclaimed, backing off as his Meowstic began scolding him - none of which Hideo could understand, though it didn't take long for him to get the jist of it. "It's not like MegaPom needs three heads," he said, earning him another punch. "Fine, fine, no more freebies."

The Meowstic nodded, returned to the pile - he was going to make sure Hideo didn't give anything else for free - and that nobody tried to help themselves to what he'd gathered.
