PEOPLE VISITING SHRINES AT NIGHT need warmth as they receive fortunes and enjoy the new year festivities this week! We need FIRE-TYPE Pokémon to help fuel bonfires and to help light incense for visiting trainers.

Rufus the Arcanine pranced around the town excitedly. With New Year festivities hitting Verdanturf, it was an opportunity for the Arcanine to get out, and meet new people. Sure, his job was to help light bonfires and incense. Racing around the rural community and igniting bonfires was easy enough for the majestic beast. However, it had yet to be seen if he was able to exercise the precision needed to light incense without burning the surroundings down in the process.

But if that was an issue, that was what the other help was for.

A child would approach the Arcanine. Despite the child's mother attempting to stop the kid, the Arcanine gave them a friendly, reassuring look. Put at ease by this, the mother allowed the child to pet the Arcanine, who gently nuzzled the small child with his snout. Rufus would even give the child an affectionate lick before heading back to work.

Although his lavender flames cast a strangely guttering light on the surrounding environment, Emile seems to be in his element. The Chandelure swings idly from nothing at all, lilting this way and that between shrines. Here and there, one of his wrought-iron limbs will uncurl with a slow creak, pressing the violet flame to a cluster of incense that catches fire with a smoldering hiss, wisps of fragrant smoke rising to hang, striated, in the air.

While it seems the Ghost-type is not met with as warm a reception as, say, a friendly Arcanine, Emile does his best not to startle any shrinegoers looking to pay their respects, and in most cases save the very young, succeeds. As night descends, his yellow eyes focus carefully on neatly-stacked pyres of wood, only awaiting a flame he is all too happy to provide. A carefully-targeted Flame Burst begins with a flash of violet and culminates with the dry wood going up with a WHOOSH, crimson-and-yellow flames crackling merrily as they reach toward the sky and chase away the faint chill encroaching upon the air.

Truth be told, Sekhmet couldn't care less about whatever bizarre ritual the humans were doing. She was only here because she'd been given free rein to light things on fire—if "free reign" meant was explicitly told not to. She figured she couldn't quite remember anymore. Not that it mattered, Cap wasn't here to stop her. She had a job to do. And that job was lighting things on fire.[break][break]

She slunk through the city streets, not really bothering to hide in the shadows; her white scales were much too bright for that. Sliding up to incense holders and candles and bonfires alike, she lights them all with the same fervor and excitement, staying only a moment to survey her good work before moving on to the next. It's through sheer luck alone that none of the shrines themselves catch and go up in flame, though in the morning some will surely prove to be more singed than they had been the day before.

what better way to light a bonfire than with the ever-burning flame from a charmander's tail? the fire-type waddles across the various shrines, wagging its tail to-and-fro as it offers to help various trainers light their incense.

"CHAR!!!!! CHAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

like a walking alarm, charmander continues on, completely unaware of how it might be seen as being disrespectful.

Dante may have had little paws, but he was determined to catch up to the Arcanine and other Fire-type Pokemon that were leading the way for the shrinegoers. Mustering a Flame Charge with a flicker of red and orange on his heels, the lupine Pokemon hurtled himself with glee from bonfire to bonfire, his puppy-like antics startling some of the adults and delighting some of the more impish children.

For all his devilish appearance, however, Dante was easily slowed by the offering of treats by passersby, and would content himself with gnawing happily on candies as strangers pet his fur. Lavished with attention as he was, it was a blessing he had rushed so much in his early time lighting fires, else he would have most certainly fallen behind his companions in his task. With so much to smell and taste, however, who could blame the young Houndour for taking a break or two? And if he paused to chase his tail, well, it's a tradition that was most likely to bring him luck into the New Year.

cautious, and with a glimmer of curiosity in its eyes, chandelure carefully floated about. the flames of its candles seemed to grow both in size and intensity every now and again, most prominently when it came across a dying bonfire.

the delphox's magic works with the mood set by the event. he wields his wand lazily to perform his tasks as he is yet again delegated to doing grunt work instead of heavy duty fighting like he was initially trained to do.

he sets mystical fire on the bonfire, letting it blaze with a blue glow for a moment to give a show for the onlookers. it looks pretty for a moment, but that's all the delphox has for the show.

as soon as he's done helping with the bonfire flames, he goes visit the shrine itself and help with the incense.

In a final hurray for the bonfire party, the large and beautiful Vocalroca would rise above the rest, both humans and pokemon alike. The fiery moth pokemon would fly up high into the sky and like, it says in legends, would light itself ablaze to light up the night sky like the sun itself rose far too early, almost looking like a dawn sun shining brightly.

Once the display by the moth was mad, The fiery moth would then diminish itself to a subtle glow and help keep the bonfire alive with renewed embers until the night ended.
