"Happy New Year, Hoenn! And wasn't it a grand one?" It really wasn't for those paying attention, but nights like these were about glossing over the details and taking a moment to revel in the fanfare. The stadium was vibrating with the rising musical elements while the sky dome overhead withdrew, allowing them to observe the spectacle of fireworks popping off, the night sky as their canvas. And the crowd, it roared.[break][break]

"Tonight's panel of judges are practically chomping at the bit to see our contestants, so why don't we skip the formalities! Here are our contestants," Somewhere underneath the stadium a contest manager begins ushering them out of their private lockers and onto the pitch, while Adrian lists off the entrants as they appear from below:[break][break]

"We've got Ruslan with their Froslass—such a lovely pair—and I'm sure nobody missed Luka following up with Clefable! It's impossible not to want to fall for them! ...O-ho, even the Champion himself has arrived with an Alolan Ninetales as his choice companion; and who could fault him, those locks attract all sorts of attention... Then there's Lux with a Meowstic—Quite the dashing duo! And who's next onto the pitch... ...Aha! December's contest winner, Martin, returns to the stage with a shiny Milotic as his partner! That'll be hard to top... And another returning coordinator, Chryssa, takes the field hoping to redeem her last performance with a... Jynx!" Admittedly that shocked Adrian, but there was definitely a bias there; one he'd endeavor to keep in check. "And next a Swablu with its trainer, Georgette, float up to the stage—tonight's contestants really have their work cut out for them! But let's not get ahead of ourselves, as lastly..." Streaks of black-on-orange catch him off guard as August and his Growlithe are on the prowl towards the stage. It takes him a moment to realize he's stalling; you would've thought Howitzer died yesterday the way he reacted to seeing one.[break][break]

"...Aaaaaaaaaaugust comes biting at the heels of his competition with a stunning Growlithe!" Definitely no bias to be spoken of. Adrian gestured to the contestants gathering on the stage, lining up in the order they'd been announced.[break][break]

"These are your contestants for tonight, folks. Why don't we give Hoenn's best a warm welcome!?"[break][break]

MAKE AN ENTRANCE: Everyone is tasked with writing out their arrival onto the pitch and the subsequent lineup on the stage in any way they so choose. Feel free to show off in whatever way feels appropriate, but remember you are being graded on PRESENTATION, so consider how you want to do that before locking in a post. Consider what options are available to BRIGHTEN UP or even BEDAZZLE your post. Take it up to whatever notch you're comfortable with! (Feel free to use moves creatively disregarding mechanical interactions in contests, as those will not be taking place this round.)[break][break]

Even behind the curtain the bustling energy of the audience had reached Lux’s heart, freezes it like cold stone lodged in his throat. It’d be an outright lie to say the suspense wasn’t getting to him, stage fright at the worst opportunity. Just when he thinks about disappearing in the night (wouldn’t be too out of character, given his outfit) Meowstic tugs down on his cape, nods up at their trainer with a determined expression.[break][break]
Lux, smiling back, crouches down and returns Meowstic back to his Pokeball.[break][break]
No turning back now.[break][break]
As Lux steps out onto stage all the lights are already overpowering, but he doesn’t flinch, rather he basks in the glow with a newfound confidence. In the middle stands Lux, who’s cladded head-to-toe in an extravagant tuxedo suit, dark and mysterious as midnight itself.[break][break]
"Bonjour, tout le monde! My name is Lux Defort. Tell me, do you know what the brightest star in the sky is?"

The audience goes silent, a little confused.[break][break]
Behind the white mask adorning his violet eyes lies a glimmer, a faint spark, though it's hard to notice with the mysterious grin he flashes the audience, leaving no room for any answers.[break][break]
“If not, then I shall show you.”[break][break]
On cue all the lights, aside from the spotlight centered on him, shudder off and go dark. All eyes on them. Lux sways his sparkling cape as he takes a humble bow. Then, gracefully as one can, tips the tophat off from his head. With a calculated flick of his wrist, Lux throws the hat directly upward into the sky above, leaving it all to chance![break][break]
From inside it’s depths, the tophat begins to harbor a strange light. Then, within that blinding flash pops out Meowstic, cloaked in a magical white light! Even as the afterglow fades the Pokemon’s appearance does not disappoint.[break][break]
As if the Milky Way itself were captured in fabric, Meowstic adorns a white and midnight-blue Sailor Moon-esque dress. A single crimson bow lies stitched in the collar, a subtle, yet beautiful representation of the ever-burning sun in the solar system.[break][break]
Now all the lights click back on! Without skipping a single beat Meowstic twirls midair, naturally as any ballerina on stage, surrounded by an mystical array of beautiful rainbow waves that reach all the way out to the surprised audience, who erupt into cheer.[break][break]
Meowstic maintains this hypnotizing use of Psybeam right up until he nails the landing, settling perfectly atop Lux’s extended out arm.[break][break]
As it falls, Meowstic swiftly catches the top hat as the pair bow in unison.[break][break]
"The scientific response would be, "Alpha Canis Majoris", but you may call him the one, the only, Sirius!"[break][break]
The hat levitates into the air and back atop Lux’s head as Sirius backflips off it’s trainer’s arm, another perfect landing back on the stage! Both trainer and Pokemon bow again, ending their little show. [break][break]
"Merci beaucoup, Slateport!"[break][break]
As the curtains draw to a close Lux winks, then boldly throws out a purple rose out to the audience for any lucky person to catch and keep!

ARE YOU BLINDED?

Get ready to be breathtook.

Jynx was phenomenal. A spectacle. A vision. If you don't believe me and my string of synonyms for 'beautiful' from thesaurus.net, feast your unwilling eyes on this tender purple delicacy.

Stepping daintily, Jynx crossed the stage with succulent slaps of her [redacted]. Her flowing pink-and-blonde hair bounced in perfectly-curled ringlets as she modeled her blissfully floor-length Jynx gown like a movie star on the red carpet. Ooh. She pursed her lips, winking. Aah. She cocked one hip.

Oooops!

A POWDER SNOW sprung up in a sudden gust of sparkling snowflakes from the floorboards as Oona reached mid-stage, causing a Marilyn Monroe-style accident. "Ooloolooloo!" she ululated, trying to hold down the front of her red dress with both hands as the rest of it flowed up and around her.

"Isn't she lovely? We support all icons of beauty here," came a smooth, level voice from the microphone, though the elusive chryssa glasgow was still nowhere to be seen. Those who had been speculating she'd been hiding underneath the Jynx's dress had to go back to the drawing board, as the little Powder Snow stunt had effectively shown they had nothing up their skirt, so to speak.

Recovering, an uncomfortable-looking Oona blew a SWEET KISS to the audience, which floated away from her lips in a perfect heart shape. Like all generic coordinator appeals, it floated forward only to burst in a shower of pink sparkles, which rained down softly on the crowd. Like fireworks, people were used to that sort of thing at contests, but ate it up anyway. You didn't go to a concert for surprises, you went there for the music.

As the sparkles fell, the floor of the stage lit up with a pink PSYCHIC TERRAIN that rose up softly glowing around Jynx's bare [redacted] like she was standing in a sea of shifting cherry blossoms. It was filled with so much transient wabisabi beauty that all of the ethnically Japanese people in the crowd had to hold back a tear when it finally faded.

It had been over a year since Georgette had prepared and participated for a Contest, so it was perhaps forgivable that behind the curtains in the waiting area she fretted over herself; over her pokemon. Choosing a theme of stars and clouds, the duo are dressed to impress: Georgette's powder-blue tutu boasts a skirt of puffy clouds, within which are nestled flameless tealights in the shapes of stars, each hypnotically twinkling in and out of existence, while her Swablu wears a pale yellow ribbon around his neck with matching stars hung in his billowing wings.

Lightly bouncing on her heels, the woman looks up in surprise when a nearby stagehand informs her it's time. Taking a deep breath she exhales, her gaze casting sidelong to her Swablu, Etienne, to whisper, "Let's go."

With a nod the lights on the stage drop, casting the world in shadow. From that hushed darkness stir the dulcet notes of a comforting Kalosian lullaby which trickle forth from the Swablu winging onto the gradually brightening stage; a hazy corona surrounds Etienne, dim enough to create a dramatic silhouette backlit with soft alabaster light, the stars upon his wings glistening enchantingly. Complementing the Swablu's comforting song is a resonant tenderly-pitched alto who sings from behind the curtains while a hazy MIST spills across the floor:

Moving to the center of the stage with purposeful strides, Georgette's arms lift above her head as she pushes herself en pointe. The star-spangled Swablu lazily glides above his trainer while continuing his melody, evoking a dreamy tranquillity. Her soft voice drifting over the sound-system, Georgette introduces the pair, saying, "Etienne and I thank you with our whole hearts, and cannot wait to share our dreams with you."

The woman then settles onto the ground, the cottony layers of her tutu engulfing her lower half in tumbling ivory clouds while the Swablu nestles atop her hair. A single ray of gentle, honey-warm light illuminates the Swablu from his perch and with a loveable mein, winks endearingly at the audience with a DAZZLING GLEAM. His head then tips back, the last notes of the lullaby spilling from the Swablu's beak, and in that following silence, a dusting of golden glitter falls from above, drops of sunlight melting into the starry embrace of night.

The stage goes dark and the curtain falls.

Behind the curtain August held the hand gripping his violin over his heart and let out a slow breath. He wondered if Felix Gallagher would be in the crowd tonight. At his side, his growlithe looked up at him with shining eyes. He smiled a bit nervously, crouched down and straightened the bow-tie on his pokemon that he'd made specially for this day. His own suit was one he'd sewn together himself from thrifted materials. "Don't worry Fish, whatever happens, you're my number one." With a wink, he stood once again, straighter than before, and the curtain rose.

He smirked towards the audience, feeling energized by the bright lights and attention, and raised the violin bow slowly above his head and smoothly settled the instrument on his shoulder.

"Let us show you how beauty is power."

The lights went out and just as he brought the bow down into an elegant capriccio, Fish jumped up from behind him, twirling a FLAMETHROWER in calculated patterns around center stage in time to the music. The flickering orange light of fire was hypnotizing in the complete darkness, creating an illusion that the pokemon and trainer were slightly glowing, like embers. It was the kind of performance that made the audience fall silent as they held their breath and clutched their hands together.

As August reached the final cadence, Fish's dance landed him directly in front of his feet. The growlithe sucked in a deep breath as the trails of the flame began to fade away, puffing his chest. For a moment, the stage hung in black and silence; the audience, on the edge of their seats. Then, August hit the last note with full force and simultaneously Fish released a FLAME BURST. Small, dazzling sparks fell over the audience. A spotlight came on once the effect faded and cheers erupted.

August grinned widely, full of boyish charm and red cheeks. He was elated to receive the reaction he'd dreamed of hearing since as long as he could remember.

"We are August Gallagher and Fish, we won't let you forget our names."

The two swept into a deep bow. Fish flicked his tail appealingly and August shot a final smirk and wink towards the audience as the curtain fell.

Stage lights that have been dimmed down give way for a single shining spotlight, under which stands no other than the recent contest winner, Piazza Oro Grande Bank’s illustrious CEO, Martín del Mar (or, as those who know him personally would call him: Mars). He smiles with that ever too perfect and ever too radiant smile of his, clad in an exquisitely-tailored suit and raising a hand to greet those before him.

From them, the serpentine figure of a Milotic emerges, gracefully floating over the stage in the most mesmerising of ways. Every scale shimmers under the stage lights, the gold tones of her shiny colouration speaking of opulence and extravagance. But, it doesn’t stop there…

Isn’t that the start of a song? A nice reference, if anything, because Mars sure does have nine pokémon named after them, and yes, of course his Milotic is one of them.

Today you will learn why.” It’s only then that he looks away from the audience and judges, turning to the Milotic that floats magnificently up above and giving a single command. ”Sing to us, o’ muse.”

A single clear note rings through the contest hall, and with it, a WATER PULSE is released. It's thanks to it that the AQUA RINGS break into a light drizzle that gently showers both the stage and stands alike, droplets of water glistening and almost twinkling in the air.

The Milotic comes down then, just so slightly coiling to surround Mars while staring at the audience. A hand rests on his beloved pokémon, Mars being ever so pleased with her wonderful display.

"Once upon a time..."[break][break]

The stage is dark when Luka enters. She makes no grand introduction for herself, no attempt to take the spotlight. She is a humble vessel meant to introduce the true star of the show. After her Clefable's performance at the pride parade, she's confident that the lovely fairy can hold her own and shine brightly amongst all the other contestants.[break][break]

Even so, nerves electrify the tips of her fingers and threaten to warble in her voice. Luka casts an eye out on the crowd, unable to see Remiel Calcifet amongst their number, but reassured that he's there cheering for her. It brings a newfound rush of confidence and she smiles, continuing on with her introduction.[break][break]

"Among the heavens there lived a Princess of the Moon."[break][break]

The stage slowly illuminates as her unseen Clefable casts Moonlight, and the crowd gasps as a rising moon takes brilliant form upon the stage. Just as it reaches its peak Clefable appears, floating weightlessly in front of it with her little hands clasped as though in prayer. She certainly looks the part of a princess; adorned in soft tulle and delicate pearls, with a midnight blue ribbon tied around one ear.[break][break]

A few resounding cheers can be heard from those that recognize the darling of the Slateport Pride contest, and Luka beams but does not falter.[break][break]

"But the poor Princess was lonely. From her seat among the stars she watched those down on Earth, and longed to laugh and play among them." Luka's voice rings out with a musical lilt as Cupcake hovers in front of the moon, the fairy cast in an ethereal, magical light. Slowly, more stars wink into existence around her, sparkling like diamonds among an imagined night sky.[break][break]

"One night, the lovely Princess wished upon a star. She asked for help in reaching the world below. The stars, enchanted by her beauty, heard her plea and agreed to help." The stars around Cupcake begin to move, circling her in what looks to be a dance. Cupcake twirls in the sky along with them, until one star grows in size to serve as transport. Daintily, the fairy steps onto it and lets it sweep her away, elegantly swooping over the audience's heads before it spirals to the ground.[break][break]

Clefable unleashes a Cosmic Power upon the stage when she lands, a resplendent star-shower bursting forth. Colorful beams of light and glittering stars announce the princess' arrival onto earth.[break][break]

"And so," Luka says, wrapping up her little fairy tale with a wink, "A falling star carried the Princess down to earth. But this isn't the ending of her tale! The rest will be woven here tonight with all of you!"[break][break]

Fulfilling the most predictable of contest cliches, the moon cast by Cupcake bursts brilliantly behind them , and stardust rains down upon an enchanted audience. Cheers once again fill the air and Luka and her Pokemon exchange excited smiles before curtseying in sync.[break][break]

"Thank you, Slateport! I'm Luka Chêne, and this is Cupcake, and tonight we'll prove that dreams can come true!"

snow warning sets the stage for the next entrant.

dim lights highlighted the soft, white texture of frost that floated down from the night sky. the gentle atmosphere set up by the show will soon be turned upside down by kyle's pokemon as it reveals itself.

"hello city of slateport!"

a blast of snow brings the sheer cold to the audience, littering the field with crystals and flakes of ice, as the voice booms from the sound system. the silhouette from the poor lighting appears, wherein a figure of a person raises a hand up and snaps his fingers.

bright light from the moon spotlights the two of them as moonblast sparkles with the night sky. the ninetales' wispy tails are accentuated with the winter wonderland as it steps up, showcasing its form to the audience.

it releases a cry to let the world know of its presence, and alongside it pops out colorful lights on the sky akin to the smoothness of fabric. the aurora veil replace the fireworks of the festivities, glistening with the moonlight's reflection as they introduce themselves.

"the name's kyle and this is ephraim, here to bring what the people want."

he takes a bow, and his ninetales follows suit.

To say he was nervous was an understatement. He’d always thought about contests. But in a far away sense. Nothing ever like a goal, nothing concrete. That was someone else’s ambition, not his. And then he’d left home and he’d thought about it a little more, if only because of his proximity to the contest hall and how nice it was to sit inside in the ac and watch a performance. And then he’d met August Gallagher and everything had sort of…accelerated. Suddenly it was way closer. Suddenly, he had a goal. It wasn’t very lofty, but it was there. He watched quietly as the rookie went on, dazzled and amazed at their performance. And then he swallowed nervously as he was set to go. Yukina, all the while, floated next to him, rising up to stare him eye to eye, before lightly slapping him with her ice cold hands. He yelped a quick, “Yes m-ma’am. Stay focused!” before taking a deep breath and centering himself. With any luck the lights would be so blinding, he’d see no one. [break][break]

Its curtains. The lights go dark, and Ruslan is taken over by adrenaline and he and his partner get into position center stage. There’s a FLASH of bright light, accompanied by the deep thud of a drum being hit, and the light flutter of small bells as a soft POWDER SNOW began to fall, bringing down the temperature a few degrees. The drumming continued, steady as a heartbeat. Ruslan steadied himself to speak. Amongst the sea of sparkling white, the coordinator stood out cloaked and blacks and reds in a tightly fit kimono. All thanks to victor evans ’s patronage. The lights are almost blinding, but in a way that made him feel better. “I-It is said on nights with full moon, when the snow still falls, Yukionna will appear.” [break][break]

The snow cleared its intensity, slowing down a bit, as his Froslass appeared, slowly moving towards the center of the stage to the beat, as Ruslan moved to the left to give her space to dance. After all, this was her show, and he would just be her support. “Yukionna, a woman s-so beautiful, men were paralyzed b-by the sight.” On cue, Yukina commanded an ICE SHARD. The snow that was previously falling now shards of ice. As she moved, the ice seemed to flutter after her reflecting light to make it seem like she was glittering. Each wave of her tiny hands was accompanied by a glittery flourish as she reflected the heavy lights the stage imposed on her. “Beautiful pale s-s-skin, and lips blue as the s-sky. And a voice,” The little ghost pokemon opened her mouth and began to sing with ROUND, as the tempo of the drums began to speed up. “Sweeter than any ho-honey.” [break][break][break][break]

Yukina’s song is steady, with an ominous tone. But she does not stop dancing, only moving with grace to the music as it hurried to the climax. “Those who were f-fooled by her allure?” A CONFUSE RAY bumbled its way out of the crowd and onto stage, moving slowly closer and closer to the Froslass. As it did, Yukina turned towards the glowing ball of green and yellow light, opening her eyes fully and extending her arms in invitation. OMINOUS WIND blasted through the stage, creating a vortex around herself and the ball. “Trapped.” Lana said before Yukina stopped singing, moved in close and appeared to devour the attack, snuffing it out completely. “And devoured.” The music cut out as did the lights. And then, like before, steady as a heartbeat, the deep thud of a drum echoed through the hall. A single panel of LIGHT SCREEN underneath Yukina bathed the ghost pokemon in soft light as she giggled silently, and knowingly to the audience. [break][break]

“R-Ruslan Skye stands before you, bringing you the tale of the- the bone chillingly, beautiful Yukina.” On the final thud of the taiko drum, trainer and pokemon alike bowed before the curtains hide them away. After he was fully hidden, Lana let out a very strained wheeze as his pokemon floated directly into his chest, clinging to him for a tight hug. [break][break][break][break]

But there are those among the crowd who adore how shy and endearing they act.

Luka & Clefable razzle and dazzle the audience with a professionality befitting them. Descending atop a star from on high, the voyage they illustrate through their performance is heart-wrenching and poetic. It's to be expected that they can find no wrong in such a well rehearsed performance from such a seasoned coordinator!

Although Kyle & Ninetales garner the crowd's attention easily, their performance proves lackluster, but perhaps it isn't entirely owed to their own showing. Alolan Ninetales were so commonplace in contests, it had been said that they were "Alola's Gardevoir" by a certain offhandedly disparaging coordinator. Still, the illustrious Ninetales attracts some positive attention with its perfectly pigmented pelt!

"The Dapper Debonair"[break]

A refreshing entry into a beauty contest, the Judges are quickly won over by the dapper fellow, although Adrian proves to be a hard sell and narrowed eyes remain unconvinced. If it wasn't for the unexpected facts flying in with their routine, he might not have so much as smiled, but it so happened that they won him over with such an unorthodox spiel.

"The Resplendent Reigns"[break]

Unsurprisingly their former contest winner Martin makes a strong impression with Milotic, making immaculate use of practical effects with their stamp and moves to create a resplendent shower of sparkles and glitter that leave those watching enamored. And that is to say nothing of Milotic's natural beauty, however overrated. In the eyes of the Judges, they have definitely raised the bar! (Other contestants, take note.)

"The Gaudy Goddess"[break]

It's gaudy and cliché, and so Adrian refuses to laud over their performance overly, but there are those among the Judges who are more reciprocating to their tasteful traipse across the stage. Though it's a niche appeal, Chryssa & Jynx manage to garner enough support between the analysts and the audience.

"The Nebulous Nimbus"[break]

Georgette and Swablu make an endearing performance, and even Adrian is eating up the costume design incorporating stars tucked into the Swablu's cotton down wings, but there is something undeniably holding them back: Swablu is more CUTE than it is BEAUTIFUL! Still, they manage to hold their own and place well for the next round.

"The Beauteous Bluster"[break]

August & Growlithe also struggle to fit in with such an elegant and graceful lineup, but there is beauty in the destructive force of fire that they manage to capitalize on during their display. In the end, no matter how much Adrian plays favorites, the Judges consider Growlithe more CUTE than BEAUTIFUL! Not that Adrian is in agreement...

"Congratulations to our contestants for their exemplary displays of coordinator care and choreography! It seems the Judges have given their marks, so why don't we take a look...?" On a display screen hanging overhead, the scores come up one-by-one as the contestants are listed in order of appearance. Surprisingly the groupings are much more clustered than usual, which is something to be proud of, as these contests are often won by a landslide.[break][break]

"With the preliminary round out of the way, it's time for our contestants to show off their true potential: Demonstrate for us what the peak of coordination looks like! Oh, and before I forget... Our theme is DANCING! Shake a leg!" It shouldn't come as a surprise that the measure of one's grace, elegance and beauty can be surmised from the ability to carry oneself in dignified dance.[break][break]

INTERPRETIVE DANCE: The theme of the next TWO (2) ROUNDS is to perform a captivating DANCE routine for the audience; this is meant to be taken figuratively, but you can incorporate a move that has "Dance" in the name (many of them happen to fall into the BEAUTY category, conveniently.) You only need to execute a qualifying Dance maneuver ONCE during the periods to qualify for the bonus, so don't feel obligated to dance in each of the two rounds. Maybe see if there are any COMBO moves available to you, or consider another move that might help thin out the competition if necessary. Note there is no penalty for not using/having a Dance move.[break][break]

The smile that illuminates his expression is as genuine as it is confident, perfectly polished oxfords stepping upon the stage once again. The top couple of buttons of an elegant white button-up lie undone, his hair is stylishly tousled (as if swept by gentle breeze), and when he looks at the audience and judges, it’s solemnly that those amber eyes of his meet theirs.

The Luxury Ball isn’t thrown this time, but the Milotic emerges from among stars of a plethora of colours all the same, swimming up through the air itself until resting right above Mars. Those nearby would feel a sense of peace and delight, caused by the pokémon’s renowned ability to soothe hostile emotions with just one look at it.

It’s as Mars tells his tale that Erato moves through the air, her serpentine body twisting in enchanting ways just as the lights change. Infinity is draw upon the sky, as if to speak of her own eternal beauty...

The Milotic lies suspended in the skies, her body glowing to summon countless droplets of water all around herself. Rainbows are reflected off their crystalline surfaces, and when Erato finally moves a second later, they move with her.

She twists and turns and draws circles, and the droplets dance along with her. One by one, they begin to drop, falling upon the stage in a gentle drizzle that soon becomes a downpour.

Isn't fleeting beauty part of the contest's very theme, after all?

They fall upon Mars as well, his white button-up getting soaked soon enough, but the man seems perfectly comfortable in the water, and he sure looks good as well.

When the stagehands make a move to clean up the water left onstage, Luka quickly ushers them off. She has a better idea.[break][break]

The stage, covered in a few inches of water, serves as yet another way of showing off Clefable's grace. The fairy does not enter with a splash— instead, she walks upon the water with an easy, gliding step. Soft ripples appear after every elegant stride, weaving a pathway to the center of the stage. She twirls once, curtsies, and waits for her story to resume.[break][break]

"The Princess of the Moon was delighted to enter this beautiful new world," Luka narrates. Their introduction had been rehearsed and polished to perfection— now, they have to improvise. But where Luka lacks confidence in herself, she finds the strength in her Pokemon. And isn't the real beauty in the power of their connection?[break][break]

"She had never seen the rain before. She had never smelled a flower, or heard a merry birdsong. For the first time, she basked under blue sky and sunlight, and reveled in all the beauty of the Earth."[break][break]

That's her cue. Cupcake spins around again— once, twice. A soft light emanates from her, spiraling around and reflecting beautifully upon the rippling water as she stands atop it.[break][break]

With a soft chirp Clefable spreads her arms, and sunlight pours forth. The water under her feet parts like the red sea on either side of her, a lovely rainbow arching from either side as the sun reflects off rippling droplets. For a moment time seems to stand still, sparkling water crystalline under the sun, and even the audience seems to hold a collective breath in awe.[break][break]

And just like that, the water evaporates into glittering particles that fade into the air. The music crescendos, and seems to naturally urge the performance along into a dance. Underneath the lingering rainbow Cupcake continues to dance and twirl, her elegant steps reminiscent of a waltz. As sunlight sparkles overhead she appears to be a flower in bloom, a princess finding her place amongst the sun.

The competition was fiercer than he ever could’ve imagined. However, Lux expected nothing less with Luka climbing higher and higher among the ranks. Still, just because he knew a person or two here wouldn’t hinder his decision to give it his all! Sirius wouldn’t forgive him, otherwise. [break][break]
As if in sync Trainer and Pokemon take their presence up on the stage. The audience’s anticipation reaches them both, inspiring a spontaneous burst of creativity between trainer and Pokemon. No words or thoughts were echoed aloud. They knew just what to do.[break][break]
No nerves were to be had as Meowstic took over center stage. Lux stays right behind him, a delicate smile gracing his lips as his beloved Pokemon shone beautifully under the spotlight. Without a word Lux’s grin remains as he extends out a hand, snaps his gloved fingertips together. Meowstic’s ears twitch, unfurling gracefully with a strong aquamarine glow surrounding his small form. [break][break]
Even the trainer himself appears to dazzle, though, surely it’s just the lighting. Right?[break][break]
Lux smiles.[break][break]
“Éco-Sphère!”[break][break]
Within the blink of an eye, three orbs of pure energy manifest above Meowstic’s head. They are his to command and control. With perfect balance and form the orbs and Meowstic begin to twirl together in unison. From just two feet planted on the ground, gradually increasing speed, Sirius the Meowstic shifts to a beautiful pirouette![break][break]
After showcasing amazing balance and control, Lux figures it’s time to sweeten the bargain. Take a bold risk, as they say.[break][break]
Lux grins, hands raised in the air as he calls out to his beloved partner.[break][break]
“Now, my little star. Reach for the sky!”[break][break]
On cue, at mach speed the spheres of pure energy soar upward, teetering close to the ceiling spotlights. Though that hadn’t bothered them one bit. Sirius follows suit, jumping up high in the air, suspended mid-air in the middle of the circling ring of energy. But just before he descends back down to earth, Meowstic musters all the power he can into his twin tails, subsequently knocking all the energy balls simoustanly.[break][break]
The large clusters explode with a loud bang! Shimmers of beautiful green dust rain down on the audience as Meowstic flawlessly nails the landing back on stage.[break][break]
Now back down to earth, modest as one can be after such a dazzling performance, Sirius performs a little curtsy with his dress.[break][break]

August swallowed hard. To follow such brilliant acts in his first ever contest certainly got his heart pumping; whether it was from excitement or nervousness he couldn't really tell. It didn't matter now, the only thing that mattered was showing to the world how incredible his pokemon truly is in the most exciting way possible. He readied his violin and pulled a bouquet of red roses and stepped back out into the spotlight. He faced the audience with a smirk.

"Don't underestimate our fiery conviction."

He tosses up the bouquet and it unravels to reveal the pokeball nestled in. Fish pops out and bites a single rose before landing.

"Ladies, gentlemen, pokemon lovers... This is the allure of passion."

August begins to play a smooth tango and his growlithe steps purposefully to the music. Fish swishes his tail enticingly towards the judges. The tempo picks up and growlithe twirls around the stage in practiced moves, leaping every now and then in a show of lithe strength. August stops his playing for a moment to gesture for the audience to clap along. The tempo picks up again, and it continues to get faster and faster, mounting tension and excitement until Fish is an elegant blur of red, black, and white.

Fish effortlessly turns his dance into a ball of fire and rolls across the front of the stage causing sparks to fly over the audience. August hits the last note and Fish jumps up into the air, releases from his spin, and falls into a bow. The pokemon tosses his rose into the crowd with a flick.
