MARCH UPDATE

Altagracia sat leisurely sprawled across one of the many benches at the Petalburg City Park. Clad in casual clothes, a long almost labcoat like jacket protecting her from most of the January chill.

With the advent of Paldea Pokémon being introduced into Hoenn’s ecosystem, and by extension excitable trainer pockets, she had barely had the time to work on her research. And yet, she didn’t feel bad about that. She was slowly coming to a realization that perhaps she ought to have a change of occupation. So many trainers didn’t know how to handle or even care for their Pokémon. They needed the help, even wanted it.

The more she thought about it, the more it seemed to be the right thing to do.

Speaking of caring for Pokémon.

A Spheal rolled around obliviously to its surroundings. Clearly having fun seeing how quickly it could spin. As her eyes gazed upon the path it was taking. She realized that would it continue on its trajectory it would roll into…

Wait, is that a Fuecoco?!

The sight of the Paldean Fire starter surprised her for long enough that she did not get to warn the Spheal.

The Spheal did not change its trajectory.

The January chill of the month had the blonde woman wear a black winter coat and gloves while Petalburg Park was a good place to get her Fuecoco some bit of exploration and relaxation to spend some time together. Domon had wandered a little far from his trainer to pick up one of the red frisbees left by some child who forgot to get it for their canine Pokemon. The fire type starter was careful not to burn it by accident though he would notice another Pokemon coming to roll near his way.[break][break]

Seeing the rolling Pokemon come towards him, the Fuecoco panicked a bit and tried to move a little out of the way of the blue Pokemon where he had assumed the Pokemon was going to crash into him if he hadn't distanced himself from where the Spheal was rolling. His cries of panic alerted the blonde to come rushing in and knelt down to give him a comforting stroke on the head. "Are you alright? Don't worry me like that..." She spoke down to the fire type Pokemon in a soothing voice.

The Spheal swooshed by as the Fuecoco managed to get out of the way. Its trainer was quick to jump in and comfort the little fire Pokémon.

A quiet “Dios mío…” mumbled beneath her breath as she got up from her seat and loudly proclaimed.

“Cisco!”

The Spheal halted in its tracks. Small pearls of nervous sweat forming. It turned around to see Altagracia, as well as the Fuecoco being consoled by its own trainer.

“Cisco you almost hit that Fuecoco.” Altagracia walked with stern steps towards her Spheal. Though her face did not radiate anger, rather it was disappointment it showed.

“Roll over there and apologize.” With a stern but very expressive gesture of the hand, did Altagracia make her intentions to the Spheal clear.

The Spheal looked disheartened but accepted its punishment. And so rolled over to the woman and the Fuecoco and with its best most polite Spheal voice, begged forgiveness.

Seeing the other trainer coming to scold her Spheal and say that the round Pokemon should apologize to the Fuecoco for scaring him, the Fuecoco gave a nod and a cry of forgiveness to the round water type. This was a Pokemon she did see before in Galar and they were native Pokemon in this region. "I will forgive you too, small one. I'm sure you didn't mean to hurt him, he was just panicked because you might have bumped into him." She spoke down to the Spheal kindly before looking up to the other woman with messy blonde hair and a lab coat.[break][break]

"I'm sorry, my manners might've left me for a small moment there. My name is Elise and this is Domon. I got him from one of my mother's family friends when they visited from Paldea, but I have no idea how to bond more with him." The woman spoke to the other blonde as she hadn't studied much on the Paldean Pokemon since they were a recently discovered Pokemon, but she hoped there could be some help in giving him some bonding time.

The apology was quickly accepted, which allowed Altagracia to ease the tension she found herself with.

The Spheal eased too now that it realized that it did not need to fear its trainer’s wrath.

“It’s a pleasure to meet you Elise, Domon. My name is Altagracia and this is Cisco” Altagracia smiled and gestured for the Spheal which happily bounced a bit again.

“As for bonding with your Fuecoco.” Altagracia looked thoughtful. “I would suggest trying not to push it. The bond will form. But Fuecoco’s are notoriously known in Paldea for going at their own pace, and sometimes being too easy going, much to the detriment to themselves and others.” Altagracia chuckled.

“But, since, their flame sacs are still developing they often can't maintain a temperature were they feel comfortable and so it's commonly advised for new trainers to snuggle with their Fuecoco while wrapped in a heated blanket or near some other heat source.” She offered her advice, but whether Elise would take it or not was left to be seen.

The other blonde woman gave her name as Altagracia and her Spheal's was Cisco though the royal did have to admit that Spheal as a Pokemon were very cute to be around with. "It's so nice to meet you two. I've heard a bit about Spheal as a species in Galar, but I haven't gotten up close to see one. Cisco looks very adorable!" She gushed a little over the round water type before the Fuecoco would excitedly say in his own language that it was nice to meet Cisco.[break][break]

Through the little explanation over the blonde woman's suggestion of not pushing the bond with a Fuecoco, there were interesting facts about the Paldean starter where the flame sac that the fire type starter wasn't developed enough to warm themselves. Altagracia gave a common recommendation that most trainers who owned a Fuecoco could snuggle with them while wrapped in a heated blanket or near another heat source. "Very interesting, you do appear to know a lot more about the fire type starter than I do, but I lived in Johto for most of my life and went to Galar several times with my father." The blonde replied with a little nod.

The Spheal enjoyed the compliments. It even pretended to blush, knowing full well that any blush would be barely noticeable due to its ice type body.

A confident grin and glint in her eyes as Elise continued to speak.

She gave a light nod as she began to speak. “Yeah, I do consider myself fairly knowledgeable on them. I am from Paldea after all.” Not that Elise would know, but Altagracia would state it matter of factly, as if it should be common knowledge just from her appearance, and what little of her accent was left.

it was actually a nicer idea to talk to someone that had some knowledge on Pokemon native to that region, so the royal gave a small nod to the blonde woman. "I heard many things about the Paldea region and its history, they even still have a royal family from what I heard from my aunt." Politics were more her cousin's thing than hers, but she did really want to see what the Paldean royals were like and the culture that the region had was interesting. "I might try the snuggling with my Fuecoco, perhaps he'll like being in my warmer coat." She spoke as the Fuecoco looked up with a small bit of expectation to bond more with his trainer.[break][break]

Taking off her coat which underneath it was a pink sweater, she wrapped it around the fire croc and picked him up. "Are you warm now?" Her question to the fire type got a nod and a happy sound in the Fueoco's language as the small crocodile felt the arms of the trainer snuggle him. With the information being given by a knowledgeable person from Paldea, she could surely have some things to learn on her own Pokemon and getting along with him.

“That’s true. But I’ll admit I know very little on the subject of Royalty.” Altagracia spoke with no hesitation. She saw no shame in not knowing about those perceived to be better off purely because of their blood.

But their conversation moved on, advice was given and Elise was quick to act upon it. The Fuecoco seemed to appreciate its trainers' efforts, and honestly that was all that mattered.

A mild tugging at her leg caught her attention. Cisco looked pleadingly at her as it gestured for its stomach.

A mild Chuckle escaped her. “Hungry?”

The Spheal nodded.

Altagracia gave the little blue sphere a nod and turned her attention to Elise. “Well, it seems Cisco here wants to go grab some food.”

The Spheal jumped into its trainers arms.

“But should you find yourself in need of more advice, then don’t think twice about calling.” Altagracia fetched a business card from one of her pockets and handed it to Elise. It was a simple but professional looking card with all the needed contact information on.

“Well, see you around.” And with that she’d move to take her leave with Spheal in her arms.
