Between the barrage of attacks that followed in the short amount of time, as well as the sudden ringing and force he felt within his ears and against his body, there had been little time he could afford to waste. Similar to the rest of those within the dreamscape, he immediately pressed his hands against his ears for just several moments—long enough to properly brace himself and accustom himself as much as possible—as the Flygon’s Bug Buzz reverberated throughout the area. Though he hadn’t quite fallen, he found himself nearly stumbling back from its prowess, only preventing himself from properly falling over as he leaned forward and lowered himself closer to the ground.[break][break]

All the while, his Aggron had been slowly taking steps back with the manifestation of his initial barrier, though as one Pokemon had been traded for another, he found himself with little opportunity to do none other than cast another Protect before him as both mother and child lunged for him. A low, agitated growl left his maw as he could only block the barrage of Power-up Punches thrown at him (though a brief, spitefully amused rumble had also left him as the smaller of the two seemed to be flung with little warning), all while he continued to take slow, careful steps further back and towards his own trainer and using his newfound barrier as his own defense against the Bug Buzz.[break][break]

The Rocket’s eyes fixated upon the buzzing drake with an annoyed glare beneath his mask as he gradually began to stand properly once more, still holding a hand to the side of his head as the remaining lifted the gun within its grasp once more.[break][break]

”Gonna need ya to shut the fuck up, there, bud…” he growled under his breath, casting an aim, tried and true, towards the beast as it buzzed before firing a few more rounds at it in hopes of purchase, if not at least a long enough distraction to stop it.[break][break]

Verte's sonic attacks were designed to end battles before they escalated. The buzzing was violent, rupturing the ears of those nearby, which unfortunately included Andrea Vaneau 's Hydreigon. "Keep it up, Verte! Don't worry about me!" Dangerous words to say, those were. While the noise canceling within his suit's helmet made the volume of the attack at least bearable, the throbbing against his lower body was agonizing. Even the Flygon himself was tiring from maintaining the full-power roaring for so long.

The young man's thighs felt like they were on fire as soon as he regained feeling in them. Josh was visibly slumping in Verte's saddle, fighting to keep his wits about him from the powerful yet rash attack he ordered. Seconds after the SAFEGUARD blocked the rest of the deafening attack, Verte let himself gently touch down next to the blue, balloon-like Psychic-type, opening his jaws wide and CRUNCHING down on ARIADNE MAUCH 's partner.

The baby Kangaskhan was lifted in the air by the Metagross’ psionic powers, helplessly flailing its stubby arms and legs. Soon, it was yeeted into the murky abyss, prompting its mother to worriedly run after it, forgetting all about the battle. The Wobbuffet and its signature war cry were but an afterthought.

In a moment of desperation, Andrea tried to use her Pokéball to call the plummeting child back. “Missy’s baby, return!” Sadly, the recalling feature only worked if both mother and child were in close proximity together, since they were technically considered the same Pokémon. She learned something new every day.

The Type: Null was raring to tear its enemies to shreds, but a red light sucked it back into the safety of its Pokéball. The dragon-costumed trainer glanced at her speed-obsessed ally with a look of regret and shame. “I’m sorry, Josh. I’m so sorry, I…”

And she turned around and ran away, using a scatterbang to aid her escape. She didn’t like letting Rocket win, but she had to help Missy retrieve her Kangababy. In the end, their enemies got what they wanted.

She starts, wincing under the mask that covers her lower face. Her hands raise up to the side of her head, and she presses the base of her hand against the back of her ear. There's still ringing from the bug buzz, so her hearing's shot until it recovers. Well, shit. [break][break]

So she uses that chance to gently press on the earpiece, and opens with "I can't hear shit." before promptly closing the channel. Whether he responds or not, well, she wouldn't be able to hear it past the ringing as her ears try to recover. Two senses are shot, so she opts instead to lightly knock the top of the Metagross' head. The soft, blue glow is about to start again... until the trainer finds herself tipping off and losing her balance. [break][break]

Instead, the blue pokemon slides the trainer off its back, to stumble onto the ground, to rush and jab a BULLET PUNCH into the FLYGON's side as it opens its maw on the WOBBUFFET. Thank god she's coordinated enough with her pokemon, otherwise she'd be better off dead weight. [break][break]

The only one who can't defend themselves is the wobbuffet, so we'll go with that guess.[break][break]

The wobbuffet, in question, scrambles back, just before a red light engulfs him. [break][break]

Back on her feet, and she groans softly, though doesn't dare to move. "Ah, fuck.." She groans in a muffled tone, beneath the mask. Yup, can barely hear herself. The ringing is starting to clear up, but her ears are sensitive enough for them to make her flinch.

And so it looked like everything ended as quickly as they'd started it.[break][break]

With both League members seemingly on their way— at the very least worse for wear compared to how they were initially found. As the draconic trainer seemed all too absorbed in absconding in favor of getting her little one back (fucked up as it was, he had to admit— it was a bit hilarious seeing the sucker get flung away), the Rocket found himself witnessing the recollection of Pokemon both allied and otherwise.[break][break]

Amidst the chaos, though, a certain Flygon had been seemingly at the mercy of his companion.[break]
It was enough of a pain in the ass for him to whistle towards the Aggron that remained.[break][break]

The beast clunked down onto it with a heavy Iron Head to add more insult to its injuries, all while the Rocket, himself, glared towards the other man afar. Maybe a warning. Maybe simple, purely unbridled distaste.[break][break]

He inhaled deeply, a growling sigh escaping his lips as he recalled his hulking Steel-type soon after, knocking the heel of his hand against the side of his head a few times afterwards as the remnant ringing had begun to finally trail off.[break][break]

"Join the fuckin' club, Cuz..." he muttered. "We'll fuckin' live, though. Let's just go report back for now."

Of all the amazing things Josh's SYGNA SUIT did, protecting him from sonic explosions was not one of them. The fierce vibration was excellent at repelling the Rockets' Pokémon, but it was a double-edged sword. Even after he stumbled and slid down from Verte's back, he could still feel his tender thighs pounding. It was like riding a living earthquake. How did someone like Shalin Nariya , even with a Sygna Suit of her own, survive even more violent shaking?

Shortly after getting off, ARIADNE MAUCH 's METAGROSS ambushed the green predator with a swift BULLET PUNCH to the noggin. Josh was unable to recall him in time before the dragon's head smacked the sea floor. Knowing when to back down, the weary Gym Leader sent out a Dragapult, who floated low enough to the ground to let his trainer on. In a display of his PHANTOM FORCE, the duo disappeared, journeying through the ethereal to retreat to Dewford and lick his wounds.
