The darkness was beginning to make her a little crazy. Well, crazier than she was, normally. She was two stubbed toes away from summoning Sima in the enclosed space and blowing the whole system down around them.

She finally came out into an open space that expanded like a volumetric flask: a long neck dropping into a wide circle. The fake gravity of the spreading rift made her feel slightly weightless; thin tendrils of it drifted across her vision, then dissipated, like mist burning away in the sun.

“I don’t think we’ve been in here, yet,” she said, one hand on the wall as she began to scale down the slippery slope, rocks sliding out from under her boots. “Gravity feels weird here so I think we’re getting close."

In some ways, the paranoia heightened Elisabeth's own violent instincts. Adrenaline spiked the longer they traveled unseen in the shadows, the tension of discovery increasing with each second that passed between them.[break][break]

"No," the underboss confirmed, glancing around the shelf rock of wall as she descended behind her companion. "We haven't."[break][break]

Training in the Rocket submarine had left her more agile and limber, though even so, climbing rock walls was not Elisabeth's forte. Her movements were slowed by caution, her eyes narrowing to make sense of each foothold in the dim light. The last thing she needed was to injure herself merely moving in the dark.[break][break]

Cygne, as expected, handled herself fine. She always did. Elisabeth had learned to expect that from her.[break][break]

Eva can feel it, the disturbance of the tear in the vacuum of space. They’re close to their destination; an entrance point into Ultra Deep Sea.

The League had called for reinforcements, in particular medical aid on the front lines. Several injured officers needed immediate medical attention and extraction. There would be no more lives lost, not on her watch. Every second she spent trying to get to them was a second wasted and second closer to their eternal end.

“Approaching the rift,” she speaks clearly into her comms, so focused on the task at hand she has no inkling as to the threat that may be hidden within the shadows.

Voices trickle in from up ahead and Cyg pauses, boots crunching on disturbed gravel. She gently depresses the button on her Gardevoir's Pokeball and the Psychic-type materializes in the darkness. Cyg reaches out and pushes her Pokemon back as they try and stay subsumed in darkness.

That's Eva fucking Morales, she thinks at Elisabeth Fiorelli as Kanaya links them up. Should we try and punch her?

That was not quite the thought process that Elisabeth's mind had gone through, but in essence, that was her telepathic response to ana fell. An encounter with Head Scientist illeana reyes had already taught her not to expect the scientific minds of the League to be any less aggressive than their peers in the military.[break][break]

A Pokeball silently released her Naganadel, the Ultra Beast shadowing the new arrivals in order to greet them with a SLUDGE WAVE. The overwhelming toxic stench bore down on the enclosed space as it spewed forth from the alien Pokemon's stinger, seeking to stop their entrance before it even began.

Ollie’s questions stops her in her tracks. The professor glances back with a sharp, inquisitive look. She perks up, listening closely to the subtle sounds around them, the PARANOIA of this place constantly forcing them to be alert.

An intrusive presence followed by a foul smell almost makes her gag at the sharp sting in the back of her throat. Crimson cracks across the darkness and a MACHAMP grows to her full height. An immediate threat triggers instinct, and the fighting-type erects a shimmering WIDE GUARD to protect Eva and Ollie from the putrid sludge, “We’re not alone,” she growls the obvious.

Kanaya cuts her off there because she knows how terrifying it is being tethered to Cyg’s brain with little to no filter.

She summons Feldspar and the Rillaboom charges forward in the wake of the sludge wave, his feet making wet schlapping noises on the gunky cave floor. He cocks his drum-arm back to bring it forward, but the hurricane blasts through the air and catches his swinging arm, spinning him around in a circle. He plays into it, twisting in the air, aiming an acrobatics roundhouse at the Machamp.

While ana fell's Rillaboom struck at the Machamp, Elisabeth's Pokemon focused elsewhere.[break][break]

The HURRICANE blasted back at the Naganadel, who hissed angrily back as it arced skyward, striking at the Mega-Evolved Pidgeot in retaliation with a THUNDERBOLT that took advantage of the surging storm.[break][break]

Elisabeth clenched her teeth as the wind and rain battered at her clothing and stung her exposed skin, the artificial storm seeking to draw her out of hiding. The sound of a stifled cry, muffled as it was, could indicate her location to ollie morales and Eva Morales if they could hear it in the storm's aftermath.

Wide guard sends the Sludge Wave spattering back against the rock and dirt of the cavern. They would have to be careful as they moved forward, “Ollie, we have to get to the rift,” she reminds him as a sharp command. THey couldn’t get tied up here in battle. People were counting on them in ULTRA DEEP SEA. That means they needed to make a break for it as soon as they could.

Another burst of primal energy shook the cavern alongside the Pidgeot’s. Syah emerged from the light a news Machamp, taller, stronger, eyes glowing an ominous red. It was enough to distract her Naganadel from its pursuit of the Pidgeot, leaping forward to weather the blow with an AIR SLASH that sought to disrupt the cyclone.[break][break]

Her eyes darted towards ana fell, hoping she was faring better.
