It was strange how, in the end, the existence of the ravaged region of the tropics felt so important. How so many of those she knew and wished she someday could longed to protect and preserve it, even those that had been born into far away sects of the vaster world- Tsubaki and herself were alike in that facet, souls brought upon in faraway lands. But the universe led them here in its ethereal ways, and in Desiree's eyes, she believed it to be an absolute fate.[break][break]

Admiral ways allowed the scenery to change that she gazed upon- somewhat painted with clarity, yet solely existing as a delicately woven forest of reverberation and color. Tsubaki was effervescently admirable with her conviction- it was powerful. Had the idol's mind been awoken rather than repressed by delusion in her younger years, she would have wished to have been like her, determined, ready to look anything that wished to foster violence in its eyes.[break][break]

Reaching for what she believed to be a railing only to be greeted with air, she stepped down the icy marble slowly to feel the snowstorm's chilly spells, to embrace it. "You and I both," she softly smiled to herself in response, deprived of the ability to truly see. ".. So we can keep our ears, and the smiles on our faces.. it's admirable of you, a beautiful embodiment." She did not want to be all the others to try and hold her back, much like those who had sought to prevent the picking up of the sword. Tsubaki was there in the swamps that night, she already did.[break][break]

The ice princess found distaste in the warm electronica that sprawled through the icy wisps she considered its home; it tried to stick to its strategies and gracefully run through the thicket, but the unfamiliar distraction through terrain left it open on one side. Fluttering as the thunder fang scraped across its neck, it seethed in shock as the pain took root. Yet, the graceful movement of the snow fairy continued as it tried to make its way to the true target of its pick. The strength had been sapped through the thrashing of fangs and serpentine, but the determination to be the sole emergent was a taste she wished to savor.[break][break]

Channeling psychic energies through its nine tails, it attempted to bestow a distasteful EXTRASENSORY onto the Toxicitry, bringing rays of pink to acquaint with the forces of white and golden.

[attr="class","star2tsu"]Sakura is buffeted by a psychic assault, staggering and lowering herself to a knee. Tsubaki calls her back, and the battle turns to a final showdown, a one-on-one. The classic tale of snake versus fox, two cunning predators. [break][break]

"Nothin' admirable about it."[break][break]

Baki protests the woman's kind words. They're wasted on her. The sound of Desiree's voice is much too beautiful for consoling some lost teen over her wasted youth. Better she find someone worthy of it.[break][break]

"All I got left. That's it."[break][break]

Keep fighting. Til the end, never give in. Fight for what's yours, never give an inch. Don't let the same fate that fell over Saffron happen here... or you'd never be able to live with yourself.[break][break]

"Just doin' the only thing I know how."[break][break]

Sumire reels back, surveying the fox flecked with flakes of ice. Cold eyes meet even colder fur, but even in the midst of the fox's snowstorm the snake isn't deterred. A careful duck to the side, watching her movements, calculating the perfect trajectory in her head... then...[break][break]

In one leap, she crosses the gap, fully intent to wrap her body around the fox. All that extra speed is worthless in the grasp of the arbok's wrap.[break][break]

The protest of her younger counterpart manifested in her eyes as a flash of pink lightning, a sharp jab at the encouragement that she wished to ultimately provide to those with admirable souls- perhaps it was the hallucinogens that led her to bite her lip at the slew of comments, or perhaps it was her heart shining through the darkness that cascaded downward from the flickering nightmare scape they had previously endured. It was fractals like those that proved that Tsubaki had been through much, though it was simply a sad sight to endure. A tear fell from her eye as she acquainted her hand with the indoor snowstorm, wishing that one day she could feel pride for the things she had done for the world.[break][break]

Pride was said to be a deadly sin, but in Desiree's eyes, she saw it as nothing but a driving force to continue living. To continue smiling effervescently for the whole world to see; it was better than the hurt which boiled over consistently in the fucked up world. She wishes Tsubaki would one day feel that pride- but her feelings were her feelings, her decisions, her outlooks. Youth could be wasted, but it could be retained in the latter years with effort and accomplishment. But even that was easier said than done, especially coming from her.[break][break]

"It's never too late to fill your cup up once more," she said softly, drooping eyes attempting to navigate the blur, ".. no matter the haunt."[break][break]

The Ninetales's cup was beginning to look a little empty, though; now that it had successfully pulled off the pick, all it had left was to push reverberating fairy ice upon the viper's scales. Yet, its energy was beginning to become sapped by all the rapid movement and channeling of the fairies that rested upon ice caps. Attempting to run around the targeting of its mythological foe, its wobbling, thin legs of illuminant tuft could only do so much- and that much, which was lacking, led it to fall into the grasp of a tight WRAP. As if it were encased in ice of its own.[break][break]

Struggling to break free, it attempted to release a final DAZZLING GLEAM to no avail, falling unconscious due to drained energy and claustrophobia. Its trainer was quick to pull it back into its orb when the petals of the Florges wound upward and split into fragments; the battle had ultimately concluded, yet the psychedelics remained bright, illuminant like a lantern in the depths of the forest at night. Holding twin cups, a Shiinotic rushed into the chamber of the chateau and dropped them near each of their feet, holding a single pill that looked to be inverted in colors from the one they had previously taken.[break][break]

And, inside Tsubaki's cup beneath the pill, existed the PSYCHEDELIC BADGE in all of its lustrous, metallic mushroom glory. "It'll sober us up, it's a rapid onset," She spoke with a quiver, popping it between her lips with a rush- she craved coveting her unfaltering mind once more, it was only natural after seeing such grotesque imagery of the mind. After reliving the pain, almost.[break][break]

"Feel pride in winning this, Tsubaki.. try to, for me," she said with a pause, feeling the colors rush back into her skin, ordinary, ".. life is not worth living if all you do is frown, jeunesse sage. Pride is anything but a sin, now."[break][break]

If only Desiree could take her own advice wholly, not partially so.

[attr="class","star2tsu"]Sumire unfurls, pinprick spots of blood begun to trickle from the holes pierced through her black scaled armor. She curls around menacingly, eyeing the fox, for of course prey that cannot struggle to the end is no fun at all. She bares her fangs, ready to plunge for the neck. To finish the deed and be done with it. [break][break]

A beam of light takes her back into her ball in that moment, and Tsubaki grasps at the back of her neck, exhausted. These visions are startin' the hurt her eyes and her head. [break][break]

Angels dance overhead, suspended among the dead. Shepherds into the next life, they dance to an unheard melody, shining lights to one another...[break][break]

"... 'fraid my cup's a little more 'n' half empty already. Like there's a hole in the bottom. But."[break][break]

She takes the drink, and swallows it all in one large gulp, catching the badge in her teeth. Spitting it into her hand, she continues the thought. [break][break]

"Guess all you can do in that case is drink fast before it all falls out."[break][break]

She smiles to the woman across from her, ever the hedonist. Surely she'd find some fun in that statement. A million lines have been uttered in the past along the same sentiment. Live fast, die faster. Better to burn out and fade away. Something about leaving a beautiful corpse. howard slayte was the keeper of those old things: words lost to history. She didn't care what the poets left. Far as she was concerned, they were just the words of some dead junkies. [break][break]

"I'm no stranger to sins, Des. But, thanks. I'll keep that in mind."[break][break]

And with that, she slides the badge in her pocket, turning for the door. [break][break]
