Elite Four: Navy
POSTED ON Jan 12, 2024 22:04:07 GMT
Objective:[break]
Perhaps a holdover from his work as a gym leader, E4 Navidson believes that the Elite 4 challenge should test a particular quality within prospective champions. For him, that quality is the would-be champion’s bonds. Pokemon are not tools, but living breathing companions. He encourages prospective trainers to bring the Pokemon with whom they feel closest. [break][break] Formats:[break]
There are two formats a prospective challenger can choose from, although others may be discussed with Navy [break][break]
The first is a single 1v1 in Navy’s Elite 4 chamber. To win, one must simply defeat Shuwen, Navy’s Urshifu. The match concludes when a Pokemon faints or one side forfeits. Bringing the Pokemon the prospective challenger has the strongest bond with is heavily encouraged.[break]
The second is a series of 5 1v1 matches held in Ever Grande’s Arena. Each side sends one Pokemon into the arena. Matches conclude when one side forfeits, when one side faints, or if Navy feels the life of either Pokemon is in jeopardy. The winner’s side is given a point. When one side reaches 3 points, the contest is over and that side is declared the victor.[break]
In either format, Navy will always use fighting-type Pokemon. He has selected the Fighting type as his Elite 4 specialty. [break][break] Rules:[break] Battles are largely freeform. Usage of every mechanic is allowed and encouraged. Navy himself will not use Dynamax, but challengers are not forbidden from using the mechanic. Generally, there should be no more than 2 moves used within a single post, but exceptions can be made. The goal is to put narrative before mechanics in all things. [break][break] Elite 4 Chamber[break]
The large square room which once housed Callan Young’s chambers bears little resemblance to the room it once was. The space has been put to good use. It looks, in Melody Miro’s words, like “a man cave”.[break] A bar lines the northern side of the room, with enough seats to seat the assembled AQUA task force, should the need call for it. The bar is stocked with every sort of beer and liquor the mind could conjure, be it sake from Johto or whiskey from Unova. Above the bar, TVs hang set to sports channels from across the world. They’re usually set to the Galarian or Unovan gym circuits, but occasional Pokemon races or baseball games play when they’re in season.[break] Pinball machines, pool tables, dart boards, a grill, comfortable leather chairs, large cigars from a foreign land, and even some of kyle lopez’s video game consoles are spread throughout the room. Rather than trying to impress decorum upon visitors, Navy seeks to put them at ease.[break][break] Most importantly, a boxing ring sits in the center of the room. It is large enough to accommodate most Pokemon and give them room to maneuver. When a challenger faces Navy in a match, a cage descends. Challenging Navy[break]
So long as the challenger has the prerequisite gym badges, they are free to challenge Navy at any time. Simply post below stating which format you would like and what Pokemon you will be using.
