Even an hour after leaving Mount Pyre to visit the graves of his two Pyroar lost in the Silent Icelands, his pridemates were still taking it hard. When Aslan was ignoring Josh's commands for speed and direction, the Gym Leader knew the Shiny lion was in no mood to ferry his trainer around.

He stared at the Poké Ball containing Sigmund before ultimately deciding to release both him and Aleph, his Type: Null, from their Poké Balls. When he rest his hands on the Iron Crown's back, looking to mount up, the Gym Leader felt tremendous pressure on his mind, like it was being stretched to its limits by a wave of Expanding Force.

The Gym Leader dropped to his knees and clutched his head, as though he were experiencing a splitting headache.

In an attempt to get some distance, some space, from everything that had happened within the icy tundra and having recover again from a set of injuries that could have very well been avoided if she'd just...[break]
Yuina went as far out into the mainland of the region as she could without having to worry about crossing the ocean, out to route 121. She wanted to just get some fresh air, some space, though she hated being left alone with her thoughts... She only wanted to just try and get some physical work in given that her ribs had been broken and her shoulder wrecked again. Her breathing and cardio needed work all over again.[break][break]
Out in the quiet open fields and trees of the eastern portion of the mainland, Rasza worked too as Yuina had let out the Charizard to get some air in her wings, and to just generally test herself. She'd been frozen by that terrible monster after all, she too needed to make sure that she was healed and could start to work on herself. Yuina walked with Delton stalking beside her on his tall legs, and Ayashi clomping through the grasses, the Decidueye was keeping close beside her if she needed something to lean on as she worked on her stamina levels.[break][break]
In the near distance, Rasza huffed as she could see a group of Pokemon further down the way, one of them gleaming in metal... Just like the ones that had attacked them all... The Dragon snarled, garnering Yuina's attention, it certainly sounded like something was wrong...[break]
"We should go look," Yuina breathed, drawing in a heavy breath in the exertion she'd already given, and Delton helped her up onto Ayashi's back so that she could rest for a moment before things might get serious, moving forward to see what Rasza saw up ahead.

Sigmund gave a menacing stare toward Yuina and her Pokémon as they approached Josh, his thumping head making him oblivious to his friend's presence. In a strange display that would have left Josh puzzled if he could see it, the Type: Null stood between Yuina and the Iron Crown, as if to protect her from the Sacred Sword lookalike's wrath.

Were Yuina to attempt to get closer to Sigmund or Josh, the purple glow surrounding the Iron Crown would grow even more, the Gym Leader letting out a wail, the psychic-type's mind intruding upon him and making his headache even worse. The Paradox Pokémon was not outright aggressive toward any of them, but did not look particularly friendly, either.

Intending to catch the Mismagius.

Moving in on the scene that Rasza found off in the near distance, Yuina was shocked to see one of those metal creatures from the chasm in the icelands, and Josh crumpled beside it... It glowed in an energy that surrounded Josh, it was hurting him...[break]
"Josh," Yuina called, but he didn't respond, the metal monster was hurting him as it glowed brighter... Even in spite of the incredibly strange Pokemon that stood in front of her and between her and Josh, Yuina wasn't just going to let this happen. She heaved another struggling breath before swinging a leg over and nearly falling off of Ayashi, Delton only just managing to catch her in her fall as she stumbled.[break][break]
"Rasza," Yuina called, and the dragon snuffed, coming down from the air in an attempt to grab Josh away from the metal Pokemon that was hurting him. Now that Ayashi was free, the Wyrdeer wasted no effort and jumped clean over the odd masked Pokemon that stood in front of him, huffing and rearing up on his hooves to meet the metal Pokemon in an attack if it tried.

Josh's pain was growing more intense as Sigmund's attack continued, his mind feeling like it could rupture from the inside out at any moment. Aleph seemed indifferent to the Iron Crown's belligerence, keeping between Yuina and the psychic-type to protect her and her Pokémon from the Paradox Pokémon's influence.

At last, the Iron Crown released Josh from his psychic grasp, the Gym Leader quick to recall the unruly Pokémon before dropping to a sitting position on the ground, his hands holding up his thumping head. It was only then that Rasza would be able to get him to safety. All was calm.

"Hunnnggghhhh..." Josh moaned, tilting his head upward only to be surrounded by the Elite Ranger and her Hisuian Pokémon. "Yuinaaaa..."

Intending to catch the Mismagius.

No sooner had Ayashi rushed forward to butt heads with the metal Pokemon than did it's power relinquish, giving Josh a split opportunity to return it to a Pokeball... So he had also captured one of those things... And it didn't seem particularly friendly...[break]
Rasza held Josh to steady him now that he was free from the onslaught of psychic energy, and Yuina stumbled from getting up off of the ground to try and move towards him.[break][break]
"Josh, Josh what happened? Was that Pokemon attacking you," Yuina worried, especially since she had found herself in company of one of those same Pokemon... Would it seek to hurt her too, even though it sought to defend her at first?

Feeling Rasza help Josh to his feet gave him a second wind, though he was still recovering. "That was some neural spike," he answered, far more cognizant but still with quite the headache. "They're psychic Pokémon, Yuina. Really powerful ones. Sigmund's never attacked me before... until now. And I don't get why." Was Josh's force of will not strong enough for the Iron Crown, the facsimile of Cobalion? It would be a mystery until he could get the paradox Pokémon under control. Arceus knew how long that would take.

His attention would be distracted by the growl of his Type: Null locking horns with a Mismagius that tried to ASTONISH the normal-type... over and over. Annoyed by the scare tactic, the amalgamated quadruped lunged for the ghost-type's soul gem, the AERIAL ACE putting a small crack in the red, spherical object. It would repair itself over time, but the damaged vessel ceased being able to maintain the ghost's form. The legendary creature bounded toward Josh with the stone in its mouth, and the Gym Leader was quick to tap it with a Poké Ball. Present for Elise Calcifet acquired! Now he just had to send it off in time for Palentine's Day...

They were out in the wilds, Pokemon were always around, and as a ghost had sought to make an attack on their small group, so did a strange bird of some kind. It stalked towards them first, then charged forward on its long two legs, but Ayashi was quick to catch the bird in its strides, matching its speed with his own.[break]
The Wyrdeer struck with a Megahorn, hitting the bird head on and knocking it over, and only to keep themselves out of harms way for just a couple moments longer, Yuina threw a Pokeball.[break][break]
"Are you okay? That... what did it do to you," she wondered, she was worried, he looked visibly shaken. It hadn't even moved let alone attacked Josh outright, it only stood there but Josh was keeled over in pain... What kind of power did Psychic Pokemon have that it could do something like that?

Josh was still reeling somewhat from the neural spike that had directly attacked his brain. "I-I've..." he stuttered before shaking his head, trying to fight through the thumping. "They're psychic Pokémon, those ones from the chasm," Josh did his best to explain, too shaken to notice the Annihilape on the prowl around them. Thankfully, it was distant enough that it probably wouldn't attack them as long as they didn't approach it. "I've been attacked by psychic Pokémon before, but nothing like that." Had Yuina ever been on the receiving end of a psychic attack before, she might know just how dangerous such strikes were. They pierced the body and did all their damage on the inside.

After a few minutes, Josh was strong enough to get back on his Pokémon. Clicking Toshiro's Poké Ball, he climbed aboard the Hisuian Samurott. "So what brings you out here, if I may ask?" the Gym Leader inquired. "I've got business beyond the rift. Might have to put it on hold after that, though. Oww..."

Keeping close to Josh and making sure he was alright, Yuina supported him as he moved to stand, despite the reeling of his head it seemed.[break]
"I guess I didn't realize that Psychic Pokemon could affect someone like that... Are you sure you're going to be okay," Yuina worried, and hoped that Centos wouldn't have a moment that he might turn against her like that... She had already grown very fond of the mechanical creature.[break][break]
The Anniliape that roamed around in the near distance did lock eyes with Ayashi as the Wyrdeer huffed with a stomp of his hooves. The ghost lunged forward, ready to meet its target in combat, as Ayashi rushed forward with a psychic barrier overlaying his bared antlers. A Psyshield Bash made contact with the Annihilape, effectively knocking it back for a moment, and just to make sure that nothing else could happen until she was sure Josh was alright, Yuina threw a Pokeball.[break][break]
"Oh? I was just out here to get some fresh air and some exercise... my Pokemon needed it too, we've been recovering, after the Kyurem attack," Yuina mentioned, she didn't have much else that she was out to do. Just trying to get herself back to a better condition than she had been while resting.

Yuina had every right to worry; not long ago, Josh looked like he was in real pain. "I'm... fine," the Gym Leader huffed, perhaps pushing his body and mind a bit farther than was healthy. "You don't see people out here often unless they're looking for ghost Pokémon or they have business beyond the rift. Not looking forward to it, but it has to be done. There are... some very important souls on the other side of the rift. Some that need saving. It's... my former head of security."

The Kyurem attack had affected Josh quite a bit, too; it put him in possession of not one, but two challenging Pokémon to raise. Sigmund was assertive, and Tyrfing was a handful in his own way. "Don't remind me. That's not the first time that ice titan's tried to take my life."
