She doesn't know what's gotten into her, nor does she know what's in store. 

She could have sworn she was asleep; sound in her bed without a worry nor care in the world. She wasn't one to have nightmares, nor was she one to feel much fear towards them (granted, she wasn't one to feel fear all too much, in general). She was one of the later to rouse from her sleep, being harmlessly shocked by a laid out electric terrain. It was pitch black, and she couldn't see a thing in front of her. The only light source were the people around her, who seemed to wake up earlier. They had their own pokemon with them, which prompts her to move her fingers to her belt. 

Six of her pokemon on her belt. This offered some form of relief--

... Relief? was she scared? Her fingers brush against the sides of her arms, under the poncho that she wore. indeed, she was chilled. goosebumps plagued her arms; but why? she felt.. horrible. this was a foreign feeling; the pit in her stomach grew, and a bead of sweat dripped from the side of her face as she gradually made sense of her predicament. she was terrified. 

not that she would admit it, of course. taking a deep breath, she grabs two pokeballs on her belt to send out her rotom and vivillon. the rotom's sparks flicker in the darkness and it seemed like the ghost pokemon was more at home than ever. On the other hand, her vivillon flapped his wings to let the illuminating scales map out the ground. Or.. so she could at least see the pitch ground. 

suddenly, she feels the ground shake--... No, it moved. it moved in manner so grotesque, that even she felt nauseous. she glances at the ground; the scales from her vivillon, too, were shifting. it wasn't her imagination. 

"Gross.." she mumbles. she glances around for anyone else who could have been caught in this, and finds two other people, not too far from her, gauging their surroundings-- until she's interrupted by a sudden 'bump' into her back. 

She stumbles forwards, slightly, but her vivillon catches her before she can fall into the moving ground. "woah, there.." she starts. the purplette glances back, and finds a woman who seemed to stumble. "are you alright?" she asks as her rotom hovers over, more so to get a better look at the woman and illuminate her with the soft, blue hue. 

- wakes up, feeling gross and SCARED for once
- sends out rotom and vivillon; rotom is lighting things up with its natural glow
- vivillon's colourful scales are reflecting the light from rotom so ayame can see the ground move
- bumped into , vivillon latches on ayame so she doesn't fall

When she wakes, her skin is graced with the unpleasant sensation of goosebumps.[break][break]

It's cold, a sensation that is foreign to her, and it's the first indication that something is wrong.[break][break]

Her eyes slowly blink open, and she feels heavier and groggier than she's comfortable with. The grass beneath her skin is lush, but it feels strange, not just because she distinctly remembered falling asleep someplace less wide open.[break][break]

Not only that, but she can hear several other people stirring from sleep, and she knows for certain she was alone when she first closed her eyes.[break][break]

Emma gets to her feet slowly, attempting to take in the surroundings but it's quickly apparent that she's virtually blind. It's so dark, the lack of light daunting and terrifying. She can only see vague shapes, hear the eerie voices of people nearby.[break][break]

Her hand reaches for her belt, relief making her hands nearly quake as she brushed one ounce of familiarity. Fingers curl around one pokeball in particular, releasing her Lycanroc. The werewolf's hot breath is a relief as he nears his master, head tucked and ruby eyes peering at her through the darkness. He's the one comfort on this uncomfortably cold night.[break][break]

Hades growls, however, and his attention snaps to the ground. She can feel it now too, and she gasps as she more distinctly notices the ground move beneath her. It seems to writhe like something alive, and the smell of damp earth and uncertainty is heavy in the air.[break][break]

"Something is wrong, Hades. Stay close to me."[break][break]

He grunts, though there was no indication he ever dared leave her behind. He glances past her, over her shoulder, piercing eyes looking for danger. His hackles are raised, his teeth bared, his heart is thumping uncomfortably.[break][break]

Emma puts her trust in the beast, using him as her eyes and nose.[break][break]

Her body lunged upwards from the ground her palms pushing down into the clammy dirt below, the loud pounding of her heart beat seemed to drown out anything else. The darkness that surrounded her had given her the mild illusion that she had fallen asleep somewhere among the house, though the moment her fingers had flexed the pull of soft wet dirt had clued her in. without any memory of how she had managed to get outside, the only vibrant reminder that before her eyes had closed the distinct memory of something lurking. Sucking in a few quick breaths of air Natsuki did her best to calm the pounding her of heart, the faint muffled moans of something around her could now be heard. They sounded human like though with such a lack of light and the eerie way she had found herself here, well anything could have been waiting for her. It wasn’t long before bits of light began to spark throughout what she could now tell was a forest of some sort, Pokemon being called forth from trainers circling around her. At some point a voice had asked the question that was on everyone’s mind just exactly where were we, there was no point however in calling her own Pokemon. None could light the way and well she didn’t want whatever was lurking to see what she had up her sleeve just yet.

Groggy. She is definitely groggy.

Disorientation claws at her and the world spins as she groans, a hand gingerly raising to her head. What happened? When had she fallen asleep? She can't remember...

All the remembers is darkness. Wait, no. There was something else, something dark and an almost eerie sensation creeping over her as she drifted to sleep. Arms reaching closer... It had to have been a nightmare, right?

No matter, she's awake now.

Gun metal eyes struggle to adjust to the darkness, blinking and blinking with no avail. Ninetales could help, she thinks to herself as her unoccupied hand feels around her waist for a pokeball. It should be the second one, right? She doesn't think she rearranged them recently... God, this darkness is awful. How can anyone see with this much nightfall?

Overhead, the full moon looms, bright shining light offering no assistance in the seeing department. Odd... She glances up, fingers finally grasping onto the right pokeball. She had fallen asleep inside, that much is certain, but now she's... outside? Was she sleepwalking? Peculiar. The familiar sensation of goosebumps rising on her skin accompanies a shiver and she grits her teeth, releasing Ninetales without a second thought.

"Will-o-wisp, please," comes the hoarse command, throat suddenly dry as a thought occurs to her. If the moon is so full, why is there no moonlight around? The natural glow of the moon gives off enough light for the eyes to normally adjust to the amount of darkness. This, however, is not the case at the moment. Why is that...? Her thoughts are cut off by the sudden appearance of ghastly blue flames, hovering close enough to be able to faintly make out her surroundings.

People lay around her and she gulps, anxiety rising with increasing speed. Are they alive? What should she do? What would anyone do in this situation? She pauses, chest rising and falling in an attempt to inhale enough oxygen to keep calm. Should she check their pulses? Oh god, what if they're dead?

The familiar feeling of panic takes hold and Ninetales senses the shift in her, pressing closer for comfort and warmth. "Thank you," she pants out, reaching a shaking hand out to run her fingers through silky fur. There, the two wait, Illeana struggling to keep the panic attack at bay while Ninetales attempts to sniff at the bodies around them.

One moment Blaine was relaxing in his nice comfortable chair in his office sipping on some whisky, and the next moment the detective groggily awoke on the ground. Just how drunk did he end up getting last night? Grumbling to himself the man would roll over to try to get some more sleep, only to feel the weird ground underneath him move. At the super weird sensation Blaine jumped up to his feet, and stumbled back a little bit, doing his best to remain calm and try to figure out what was going on. [break][break]

Closing his eyes Blaine took a deep breath as well as a step backwards, not wanting to get too far from where he had woken up just yet. With his eyes open there wasn't even much of a difference in what he could see, it was almost pitch black out here. While he couldn't tell exactly where he was just yet he could at least make out that he was outside somewhere, and he didn't seem to be the only one here so far. [break][break]

Reaching down to his belt a brief sense of relief washed over him for a moment, all of his pokeballs were right where they should be. At least he wasn't out here completely defenseless. Sliding a hand across the pokeballs he gently tapped the button on the first and third ball, releasing his Raichu and Noctowl out of their balls. Raichu might be able to make a bit of light for him to see, and Noctowl had special eyes it might be able to make something else out that he couldn't. [break][break]

"This might sound kinda weird Joule but use an Electro Ball attack, but don't let it go just kind of hold it on the end of your tail." With a slight tilt of her head that the detective could barely make out the Raichu followed through with the order and conjured up a basketball sized ball of electricity on the tip of its tail and held the light in place. "Thanks, Strider just try to keep an eye out." He added with a slight glance over to his Noctowl now that he could see the owl. [break][break]

Taking a moment to adjust to the bit of light he now had to work with Blaine was eventually able to make out some faint blue lights floating around in the air. At first he approached a bit cautiously until he was close enough to make out what seemed like the shape of a person standing next to the flames, his mind immediately jumping from it being some kind of threat to just being a trainer and their pokemon. [break][break]

Not wanting to scare the person due to coming up behind them in this creepy environment Blaine muttered out a simple "Excuse me." Before getting too close to what he could now make out was a woman and her ninetails. "Are you alright?" He was sure that waking up in a weird spooky place would be a strange experience for anyone and wanted to make sure the person was okay before trying to ask them anymore questions. As he said that the light carrying Raichu slid up next to her trainer, a corn cob pipe held in her mouth. The Noctowl just kinda hung back for now looking around in the darkness. [break][break]

[tl;dr: Woke up super confused and creeped out over the moving ground, sent out Raichu to hold an electro ball on its tail as a light source, noctowl to see if it could see anything through the dark, and approached and asked if she was alright]

The man had somewhat forgotten how he had reached his bed. Maybe he had drunk too much, or he had been too tired, but he could barely remember having fallen asleep on his bed. What he did remember though was the feeling of electricity, sparks caressing his revealed skin. As he felt that strange sensation, the gym leader got on his feet, observing where he was.[break][break]

"Where the hell are we?" Most likely, that was on everyone's mind. Because he wasn't alone. Many lost souls seemed to have suffered the same fate that he did. Some faces, he recognized. Others, not so much. Hell, one of them was even in simple boxers, so it showed that they had been caught unaware. Balder looked at himself and noticed that, thankfully, he still had his pants on. And some pokeballs attached to his belt. He could identify 3 of them on the spot, but the other 3... He wasn't sure which pokemon had tagged along.[break][break]

The Alolan Avenger grabbed one of the pokeballs, which featured the engravings of the sun upon it. Throwing it in the air, Balder Summoned Leo, the legendary Solgaleo, to the field. Seeing how Kyle and a few others had lit up their respective areas, Balder decided to move more towards . Using his bonds with the Sunne Pokemon, Balder raised his arms and released light from his palms, directing it near and @altmight . As he stood near the grass gym leader and her Venusaur, the young man looked behind him, towards his Solgaleo.[break][break]

"Care to assist me, Leo? I don't think I'll be able to light this forest up by myself." The envoy of the Sun nodded before doing the move Morning Sun, making his metallic fur shine somewhat brightly. Doing so helped make a small halo of light nearby, lighting the place up a bit more and, hopefully, revealing what kind of location they were in.

cait had paused her impromptu investigation in favor of veering her focus toward the god and his human counterpart. she had heard of the blessed occurrence the moment it was announced, the girl filled with joy and excitement at the prospect.

"it is an absolute pleasure to make your acquaintance."

she executed a prim bow, the motion well-practiced and exuding an air of reverence. her venusaur adopted a similar stance, though she merely inclined her head, eyes falling shut as she sought to follow her mistress's example. 

"...!"

a sharp gasp escaped her, the writhing beneath them once more coming into focus. 

"something's wrong with this place - the air's too still - it doesn't smell right - it doesn't feel right." 

the light produced very effectively showcased the subtle wrongness occurring all around them.

“Oooookay...” Derek rises from the waist up, noticing a whole lot of people around him. This was cause for alarm in of itself, as he would never be comfortable enough to have fallen asleep around this many strangers. Or out in this creepy dark forest...

What was going on?

“W-woah now!” Jumping to his feet upon noticing how the earth was writhing about, every nerve in his body seemed to be screaming with unease.

Trying to avert his attention from it after the movement proved relatively harmless for the time being, Derek glanced around to notice some familiar faces as the place was lit up thanks to their numerous pokemon. Kyle, Noelle, Arthur and even Cait were among these strangers, which was cause for relief.

But he still didn't know how he got here, or where here even was.

"Again. Deadass...?" The Youngest McQueen groans, springing himself upon his feet with a quick and snappy kick up. Hazel eyes pan from one side to the other, a brow cock in mild confusion. A cold nipped at the skin and chilled bone, an ominous moon hung overhead, and it felt like he was standing in a literal belly of a beast. Upon the hip was a utility-belt with six occupied PokéBall's, touching around them in this now-somewhat-mild darkness, Chancelor recognized each Pokémon that occupied each PokéBall. Palming one of them, he calls forth Dusknoir—the Gripper Pokémon fading; pulsating between both 'this' realm and the realm of the departed. "Could use a little light to see where I'm going, big fella'." Chance speaks, the playful ghost opening the otherworldly maw that was his chest wide open where further darkness laid in wait.

"The good ole' 'bag o' souls'... Fun." He shakes his head before reaching into the mouth of the Pokémon that is known to guide souls to the afterlife or back to their bodies. Reaching around in a literal void, something grabs his hand... Something with a mighty grip. Slowly, Chancelor pulls whatever it is that is latched to his hand out of the darkness that was Dusknoir's void. Grabbed on to his hand would be a ghostly and severed arm of what he assumed to be a Machamp. The should part of said arm was ablaze with fire—the arm made for a great torch albeit a bit grotesque and unsettling. "Do I wanna' know what happened to this poor guy?" Chance asks, holding the arm outwards and looking at the fleshy ground to see exactly what it was he was standing on. Dusknoir gives no answer, he simply closes his mouth, and fades away for the time being, sticking extremely close to his Trainer while assessing the situation. "Wooow. That's crazy." The Martial Artist replies to the fading away of the Ghost type.

"You good, G?" Chancelor approaches Derek, who happens to be the nearest person to him after a short walk across this belly-like floor. "Might wanna watch ya' step. Dunno' if that's a pile of shit or a pile of eyeballs behind ya'." He gestures towards the ground behind him, impromptu ghost arm torch burning dimly towards said pile.

Sleep came easily--too easily.

Bailey Cooper could smell the dampness of the earth as she came to her senses; head aching as she tried to raise it from the pillow of crumpled grass where it had rested. Waking up in the middle of a dark forest was not the norm for her, despite her drinking habits; get drunk, not fucked up.

"What the fuck…?" Hadn't she been home? Sleeping in her bed with Chubs curled in her arms?

She stared at the crowd of people, noticing that in the bleak light that they almost looked no different from the shadowy figure that had been at her bedside. She squinted, able to make out familiar faces that were illuminated by night light.

The Elite Four member picked herself up from the ground, unable to tell if her skin was pickling from the chill or from something else entirely.

[attr="class","spiral"]the sweet embrace of the netherworld behind his eyelids are the only moment fernando truly has to himself. when his eyes open the world continues to revolve around his axis and his life is no longer his own, subjected to the chain of events that prod the yoke of causality. the only solace he finds in sleep is the renewed vigor that comes from a fresh body.

his eyes open but his body is still weary. his peace is intruded on, derived into a particular singularity — a nightmare. his dreams are his own and never have they been so vivid. aspirations are meant for the living and fernando is rarely one to be graced by the illusions of his own subconsciousness. paranoia comes with the setting but it inherently stems from his own deliriousness.

several lights break the unsettling stillness of utter darkness and he doesn't know how to interpret them. dreams don't have to make sense and those of his childhood rarely do. his willpower is there but control over the events that transpire have never been within his grasp. only in his own dreams is he truly powerless, a slave to the depraved whims of his psyche.

"tch."

he may not control his setting but his actions are his own. sometimes he has the autonomy to act while other times the dream plays out with him watching from a third person perspective. tonight seems to conform to the former and for that fernando is thankful. he hates the powerlessness of the human body.

the shifting ground warms him that he is not alone. he suspects something hostile and his instinct is to reach for his pokeball. miraculously, they're there and fernando feels his worry diminish. the agency to act, no matter how futile, is a comfort granted to his own vulnerability. the sound of whispers among the the splotchy spurts of light rouse his attention. the voice are unfamiliar but one or two aren't too off.

his eyes narrow.

"alfric?"

his shout is loud and demanding. there's little civility behind his request because fernando's under the assumption he's sleeping. this is all a dream and there's no reason to censor himself for his comparatively pristine image. here, he can be true.



— fernando is aware that he was sleeping and assumes this is a rare dream.
— can see several light sources through everyone else's actions.
— reaches for a pokeball and realizes he has them. figures he has some agency during his dream.
— hears the sound of other people talking and shouts out for .

regularly, she sleeps like the dead. persephone welcomes this fact because the alternative (a feeling like restless anticipation, the physical sensation of exhaustion like static behind her eyes) is one she's all too familiar as well.

this is much better, and she's grateful for the sleeping pills on her bedside table.

so when persephone "wakes", the heaviness clinging to her limbs doesn't feel particularly odd for the first few moments - though the cold is, the mumbling and muttering around her even moreso.

she straightens and regards their surroundings with a furrowed brow, and struggling to make sense of it all aside from vague shapes of other people, she's relieved to note that at least her pokemon's capsules are still by her side. persephone promptly releases a chandelure and feels herself breathe slightly easier when bathed in its familiar lavender light.

there is only really one thing she can discern with anything resembling certainty: that none of them should be in whatever liminal space this is.

an unfamiliar chill crept along morgans skin, causing the small strands of hair the stand up straight. It was an odd thing as the blonde individual was sure that he went to sleep within the confines of four walls and wrapped up snugly with inside a king size bed. To make matters worse was that he was not even sure that he knew where he was. Taking a glance around he noticed that a few of his pokeballs were scattered around his current location.

Counting the pokeballs, he had no idea which pokemon it was that resided inside. He usually kept them in order on his holder, but being all over the place it his organisation was messed up. With 6 pokeballs morgan looked around trying to see if anyone else was about. Thankfully though he heard voices in the distance with flickers of light on the floor. Following the trail of sparks it led him to his comrade in arm kyle

THE FOREST IS ILLUMINATED but only faintly. the light from everyone's pokemon (body in balder's case and improvised torch in thomas' case) is able to clarify their surroundings, but only for a limited distance of 30 feet.[break][break]

oddly enough, the darkness is thick like coagulated squid ink, which causes even the darkvision of nocturnal pokemon to fail after that same distance. the forest is thick and foggy, but everyone's combined efforts is able to throw light upon a worn path snaking through the trees.[break][break][break]

as an ELECTRIC TERRAIN is cast upon the floor and copied, the forest floor brightens with the horror of their discovery. thousands of tentacles writhe through the earth, burrowing in and out in a frenzied pace. galvanized by the electricity, the tentacles erupt upright in places, coiling around several unlucky trainers with their slimy appendages.[break][break]

the lucky ones are pulled into the earth, their tortured faces swallowing dirt as their screams are muffled by their unceremonious burial. the unlucky strangers and their pokemon have their limbs grappled by the tentacles and pulled out of their joints. they are ultimately quartered in spectacular red mists... and the metallic smell of their ends permeates the air and attracts things in the dark.[break][break]

the bartender, , is spared, able to narrowly avoid a greedy tentacle whipping at his ankle as he climbs a tree. in a hungry frenzy, the appendages pull them in all directions, while a malevolent gravity threatens to drag them six feet under.[break][break]

in the distance, a chorus of strained, raspy groans begins to grow louder. begins to surround their location. in the night sky, a small black figure darts frantically across the circle of the moon.[break][break]

should the ensnared trainers fail to escape the tentacles, a worse fate may await them. what will you do?[break][break][break]

The wide stare she gives Ayame is -- alert, but distant. Beyond the calm in her mind -- thinking this is dangerous, thinking we should get out of here, thinking oh, she has a vivillon, too -- a thin film of fear blankets the rest of her mind. 

"Um," she says. It's dim. It's not real. Siobhan shifts her shinx, gets a better hold on it and supporting from the bottom. "Sorry -- Yeah. I."

For a split second, time stops.

She glances down at the ground. Sees, in that split second, the violent red, the writhing -- 

And the world explodes.

It's instinct. She reels away from the tentacles at first, feet two fancies away from getting the hell out of here -- 

Five meters away, screams of the sinking piercing the forest canopy, Siobhan glances back.

Ayame's caught.

Her heart beats once, twice -- 

She's moving before the calm part of her mind can say help her. Rushing back, avoiding the threat as much as she can -- she almost trips, but in moments she's back at Ayame's side, shinx dropped to the ground, Siobhan's fingers scrabbling for purchase against a tentacle and wrenching and pulling, trying to free her, because come on, come on, we have to go, we have to go--

+ siobhan almost flees in terror, then notices ayame is stuck and rushes back, trying to free her by pulling at the tentacles.
