He's seen players try all kinds of ridiculous methods. Harassing the sword, begging to it, attempting like he had to befriend it... nothing worked.

Okay, that last try didn’t go over too well.

Now he was mad.

Well, his in-game avatar didn’t show his rage—he kept his rage bubbling inside himself. Sighing, he watched the last person who tried to grab the sword out of the rock…

Would anyone succeed? Would everyone in-game try and fail to get the shiny prize that awaited them?

He could only wonder what the hell it was…

Seeing the blade sticking out of the rock, he muttered under his breath, “Here we are again, you stubborn little shit…” before grabbing the hilt and planting his foot on the rock, to gain better leverage to try and yank the damned thing out of the stone.

Having forgot to pull the sword last night, he strolls up to the pedestal to pull it again and send him back to respawn. By now, death is no surprise and he welcomes it with opens arms.

"I wonder how many idiots think they can actually pull the sword out," Fernando muses to himself, as he wraps his fingers against the hilt. He's long given up and sets his sights on kill every player in the server instead. At this point, that's the more reasonable goal.

"Here we go again!", Rikiya muttered, as he waited his turn in line again. Just like every other day, the people in line before him tried and failed to free the Honedge from the stone it was embedded in. Every person was just another soul sucked into the blade, for whatever purpose, if there was any. Though the effort was 'free' he couldn't help but question if it would be worth it. Still, it seemed like such a brutally slim chance to actually pull the stupid thing.

And the person in front of him managed to pull the sword out of the stone. Under the shadow of his hat, Rikiya's virtual jaw was agape. "Motherfucker!", Rikiya blurted out in disbelief. Thankfully, it seemed that once he had gotten his reward, the sword in the stone respawned. He had to wonder if his reward was going to be as good, on the slim chance that he managed to pull the thing.

"First blood!", Rikiya bellowed, as he made his attempt.

Apparently someone had already gotten the prize…

…and rumor had it, it was one of those players who loved going around and ganking characters who were alone in the PK areas! Well, what was fair with that?!

While she didn’t know what the hell what the prize was, she sincerely hoped it was not a weapon—because if it was, then it would seriously imbalance the game, insane as it already was.

While she hadn’t memorized all the in-game names of the players who PK’d other characters for fun, she knew that they had to be stopped, somehow.

But how?

What was the ‘second place’ prize now?

Sighing, she walked up to the rock and began yanking out the handle—this one looked different…

he comes back after he has died. "ninth time's the charm," he mumbles, still knowing that the likelihood of him pulling the sword out of the stone is near zero. trying's free though, so he'll try this until he gets tired.

kyle walks up to the sword and stares at it. multiple players have also tried and failed the rng roll, and he's about to do it twice in a row. his hand holds the hilt of the sword, watching the ribbon wrap around his arm.

"here goes," he mutters to himself, hyping him up before he readies himself to reappear at the spawn.

his hand grips the handle of the sword before he attempts to pull it out.

[attr="class","spiral"] Much to everyone's surprise, the Honedge comes loose. Fully expecting to respawn, Fernando puts too much force into his pull, stumbling backwards when he unintentionally dislodges the weapon.

Great.

Now what?

Before he can inquire further, the game appears to fill in the gaps. A server wide message scrolls across everyone's notification and a prompt floats in front of him. The instructions are clear but Fernando has no idea which Kingdom to pick. As far as he's concerned, the game's background story doesn't exist. Olivia Abbiati , @bean , and Stormy Silph had commented on how impressive the scenery was but Fernando blatantly disregards anything that isn't related to combat or PVP.

So he resort to messaging the only other plays he trusts: kyle lopez , Bailey Cooper , and yes, even Lucas Lane .

And, unsurprisingly, Kyle answers in a timely manner. Somehow the he manages to thrash every Gym in Hoenn and still reply to his messages quickly. Fernando decides this is why he likes him but Kyle's answer and reasoning do little to convince Fernando.

"I am the KING of..."

Rather than spend time researching which Kingdoms exist and what they represent, Fernando relies on the game to designate whichever Kingdom is best suited for him.

The crown manifests above his visage and Fernando feels his own power surge through the Honedge. His own electricity starts to crackle around him in a grand display of power and grace. Like New Year's sparklers, they flutter around his majesty until he's willed into pointing the Honedge at the sky.

There is no greater honor than to be anointed the FIRST KING of the KINGDOM. The stored power of those who have been slain by the Honedge day in and day out culminate into a blinding beam that discharges in world shatter ZAP CANNON.

The server's #1 player on both the CHARACTER LEVEL LADDER and PLAYER VS PLAYER LADDER is now its KING. Is there anything he can't do? Apparently not.

When the decision registers the game sends another announcement across the Server and PUGILIS falls under his decree. The banners that adorn the PVP Arena shift to reflect their new owner and the NPCs are reprogrammed to add in small lines to address their KING.

A game as grand as Blades & Bulwarks deserves the most spectacular of KINGS.

Looks like they chose wisely.

she could not believe it.
truly. katherine was at a state of disbelief. ever since that announcement - she tried to convince herself that it wasn't his user name, but it was. she tried to convince herself that somehow a different player had the same username, but it wasn't possible. she tried to convince herself that he faked the announcement like he faked the one about her imaginary armor.

but she knew that it was true.
it was official. that idiot pulled the honedge out of the stone. first. before her.

the first king in the game and server.

and she hated it more than she hated the eight times she respawned because of this damn sword. however, she refused to give up. now more than ever. if before she considered quitting the game-- now she couldn't. there was something she needed to prove.
