He fluttered his eyelashes at Yuina.

"I'm Sugary sweet, what'cha mean?" He asked innocently, missing the flat look the ranger behind the counter gave him entirely as the man accepted Yuina's tokens.

"A free shot?" He asked.

Spray.

And sprayed Yuina in the cheek again.

"Like that?" She would need to learn fast if she was to try and fight fire with fire against a seasoned gremlin like Doug.

"Sure! You're on~!"

"Huh." He uttered, glancing between the newly convinced young man and his now empty syringe. "Maybe I should just lead with this..."

Seemed more convincing —and less traumatic for all parties involved— to just get straight to business.

"... Oh good!" He said cheerfully, casually chucking the empty syringe into the bin besides his desk. "Welcome aboard, Mr. Merlo!"

He offered his hand to the slightly older man, ready to seal the deal.

"September, huh? Feels far, but time flies, don't it?" Before they knew it, summer would be over, and Isaac would be helping humanity by pushing the boundaries of medicine...

While strapped to a surgeon's table.

He could almost hear— nay, see it already.

Glorious.

"We'll work out the details when September arrives." And boy, there were a ton of details to work out. "For now... Let's celebrate!"

Tapu Playdate

Mission: Vs Tapu Koko, ft. Eris Halla

Now there were five clowns throwing down to Zero music in the middle of sea route 00-nowhere.

So impressed were the Tapu siblings with the children's 'moves', they even joined in on their attempts— The more nimble Koko doing a good job making Doug look like an amateur at his own moves, and the specialized Lele joining Eris in... whatever it was she was doing.

Well.

At least everyone was having fun.

AN AQUA ASSEMBLY PT. 4

Here we go again.

"Good question! I'll ask Garo once we're done with this one!" He said in response to dahlia goode's mid-combat query, storing it off for later.

Luckily, the fight was already beginning to wind down.

He didn't join in on finishing off the slowing titan, lips pulled taut as the beast collapsed in a heap, brutalized into eternal submission by the league's finest.

"If that ain't a metaphor and a half." He said to himself, staring at the corpse for just long enough for his Orbeetle to feel the need to intervene, prodding at his side. "Hn? Oh... I'm fine. Don't let me bug you."

The young medic keeled over immediately after, managing a laughing wheeze despite the psychic gut pains assaulting his innards.

"I—ack!— A-am NOT sorry." He managed between groaning cackles, dragging an eyeroll out of his Orbeetle. "A-anyway... Turn on the radar, Garo. Anything else we should be worrying about?"

That was the signal to the bug to extend its radar-like senses as far as they would go, seeking either the titan's brethren or whatever else called the cave system its home.

In the meanwhile, Doug turned his gaze to those most severely burned, tipping his hat at Greyson Connors's Comfey with a smile. As it had healed the injuries on those most affected by the paradox pokemon's blast, the Lt. Colonel could focus on dealing the stubborn burns left behind by the unnaturally empowered flames.

Hopefully with enough finesse to avoid any... blemishes.

"'ello, stranger." He said with an irreverent smile, approaching Melody Miro. "Not to be fresh, but may I look at those burns? Don't worry— I'll make 'em go away."

Setting down his case, the youth reached in and put some disposable gloves, before gesturing to Callan Young and Navy with a digit.

"And you two— I'll be with your pokemon in a sec!"

Turning back to Melody, he began to work, his index finger beginning to glow hot pink.

Lulu Flint vs Doug

There was a brief moment were Private Bellamy Engels feared that he would not be making it home to his parents that day— and was expressing said fear by absolutely tearing through his vocal cords with the most unholy of screeches.

Mercifully for him however, he found himself caught halfway on his way to a messy splat, a psychic grip holding him in place.

He found himself staring with wide eyes at his savior— a single, floating bug, flanked by a nearly identical, though differently colored counterpart, both their eyes on him.

"Good catch." Came the words from below him— and looking down, he found a familiar face.

Lt. Colonel Sullivan stood atop his Dragonite, smiling at the other soldier.

"'ello, Bellamy!" The colonel said, saluting the young man— before pointing elsewhere. "That's your Pidgeot, yeah?"

A large, unconscious bird hovered nearby held in place by the strangely colored Orbeetle.

Pointing a digit at it, a flash of pink shot into the bird, before it suddenly gasped back to life, its eyes whirling around in shock.

"Get it together, you two! We're in the middle of battle!" The colonel said, clapping his hands sharply. "I would dismiss you, but we can't afford many routs here."

The medic tents and supplies were currently set relatively nearby— it was the only reason he was there, after all.

"I'll cover for you guys, but don't expect me to do this every time!" He said, nodding at the soldier as his Orbeetles set the man atop his bird. "Rejoin the rest of your squad and form up— let everyone know the Cavalry is here!"

With that, he left the youth to hopefully fend for himself, nodding at his Orbeetles. They already had a target— the apparent source of the bats flying about.

Zooming up towards it, he found himself not for the first time rolling his eyes at the person he was faced with.

Why was everyone in Hoenn hot?

"I know y'all are tryin' to turn Hoenn into another Kanto, but how about you keep Mt. Moon out of the blueprints?" He immediately tried to sass/rizz the woman, wondering what sort of rocket he was dealing with.

She looked vaguely familiar, but... definitely not from Galar, he knew that much.

SEA

Zev Harcourt & Doug

As falling stars rained down on deck, watery projectiles flew into their path in an attempt to intercept, managing to prevent harm to the crew— if not quite the ship.

A blur dashed off from the ship's tallest point, the crane, the humidity in the air coalescing like a vortex around its flying form into a whirling water star, growing in size.

The Accelgor's scarf flapped in the wind as it chucked the giant water shuriken at the bird, the projectile whipping a gale through the ship as it curved through the air, its trajectory chasing after the winged dark knight.

Thunk.

Something had dropped from the bridge, landing atop one of the cargo containers. The thudding sound of steps atop the metal crates echoed through the air before a shadow leapt into the picture, landing several respectable meters in front of Zev.

"All personnel, get inside!" Shouted the presumed leader, one hand gripping the brim of his hat. "The crazy ones are on me."

His Orbeetles did not detect any other approaching enemies within 1 kilometer of ship— meaning this crazy motherfucker was trying to solo an entire supply ship.

"The mask ain't doin' ya many favors— ain't no one underestimating crazies pulling stunts like this." He said, before pointing a gun at the man.

Click.

"Hands where I can see 'em."

There was a 0% chance that a man trying to single handedly check a ship would give up without a fight— He had already resolved himself to shoot the man in the leg the moment he tried anything.

Hopefully that would work. This one was too tall to be bryan delarosa .

Cillian Quinn vs Doug

He should've taken over on scouting duties after the first incursion. But they all had looked so eager to be helpful...

"Man overboard!" Shouted the colonel as rose back to his feet, rushing for a lifesaver before quickly making his way to the boat's railings. "Just keep calm! You'll be fine!"

He threw the lifesaver at them— and the boat began to visibly sink then and there, pulled down by the chain .

Goddamn it!

Reaching just underneath his arm for a net ball, he released a shrill whistle as he chucked it in the air.

An Orbeetle popped into the scene its senses spreading wide before the whistle even registered, eyes swiveling to look down unto the shit, and beyond it, into the thing beneath the sea's surface.

"Shatter the chain!" Ordered the lieutenant, pointing at the goal. "Here!"

His eyes fell unto the chain trying to pull the water beneath, before he raised a glowing pink digit towards it— and shot.

It hit a single link, cursing it. In tandem, the Orbeetle's eyes glowed— before an orb of psychic energy suddenly began to expand within the gap of the weakened link, snapping it apart!

"W-woah!" Yelped the Colonel, clinging to the railings whilst shouting over the comms. "Everyone stay inside and keep your pokemon close! I'll be busy!"

He couldn't fight an unseen enemy and worry about keeping everyone inside safe at the same time.

He plucked another net ball from his holster, looking into the water.

Who was he dealing with...?

"Keep an eye out! Not getting blindsided thrice in one day!" He shouted at his Orbeetle, before grumbling under his breath. "Jeez, I hope."

SEA

Doug & Kouji Matsubara

After the close encounter with Cillian Quinn, he had seen to it that all possible blind spots in their convoy's security slammed shut— mostly by sheer excess of Orbeetles.

The attack bounced off a barrier, an Orbeetle slowly descending from above, eyes aglow as it stared down the rocket and his pokemon.

Doug waved it off , his attention turning from the disembarking medic personnel behind him to the vaguely familiar young man approaching menacingly.

"What's with y'all?" He asked the other as he hopped off the ship and onto the sands below, his Orbeetle moving to stand before him. "We were all getting along so well— Now yer all tryin' to kill me. So boldly, too! I didn't do anything to deserve this."

Hadn't they buried the hatchet before the big war? Perhaps it had only looked like that to him.

Missed calls and late messages were not often a cause for concern, but... When the source was someone as furtive, difficult to get ahold of, and 'independent' as Eris, they tended to set off an alarm.

Specially when attempting to call back proc'd a system error.

"Eris!" His voice rings through the apartment complex as he rushes through the halls, panting with every step.

The day had started off pretty bad, progressively got worse, had escalated into a deadly nuisance— and even now, continued to find ways to fill the young medic with dread.

Exhaustion clung to him as he made it to Eris' door— and the pit of worry gnawing at him from inside seemed to grow bigger, deeper, the moment he saw it. Left carelessly open, with stains of blood covering surface and doorknob.

"ERIS!" He shouted, stomping inside the apartment as he snatched his tiny flash light out of his case, shining alight on the dark living room, following the stains of blood left on the floor until—

"No...!" He muttered lowly, eyes growing wide as plates.

He was going to lose his mind.

"No, no, no." He muttered under his breath as he stomped towards her and Reiner, dropping to a knee besides her with wide eyes, examining her.

AN AQUA ASSEMBLY PT. 4

Here we go again.

Dragon type or not, there was a lot of mass behind the creature's blow, making the comparatively diminutive island deity reel back followed the exchange.

As the paradox giant focused on blowing steam at those on the other side of the cave, the jinxer and the jinxed had just about enough time to gather their bearings— more so the youth than the deity.

This thing was tough. It was taking on the league's supposed best and brightest rather admirably. He needed to start making himself useful.

"Let's regroup with the rest!" He told Lele, before his gaze fell over the groups. Inevitably, his eyes fell over Commissioner dahlia goode. "Over there!"

The thought of setting up psychic terrain came immediately, if only to strengthen Lele while they fought—

It limited high speed mobility for the rest of them, though, so he put the idea aside.

Well. Doug did. Lele saw no reason to restrict herself.

To which Doug could only sigh.

"Psychic Terrain is on the field! Don't bank on Instant Acceleration!" He shouted at those present, snapping a digit upwards as he ran towards the commissioner.

Healing scales began to rise from the floor within the terrain, focusing around his allies.

"Well? You went and did it— You better take responsibility for it, Lele!" To that, Lele merely huffed, throwing to jabs at the air as she flew besides him before snapping her gaze towards giant monster, the titan reeling back with a blazing maw—

Almost as if on automatic, the medic's hand snapped towards his pokeball belt with mechanical precision, grabbing a net ball before throwing it to the ground in a rush.

As his guardian disappeared into his shadow, the Orbeetle that had emerged moved into place as they arrived besides the Commissioner, eyes aglow as a barrier erected before them.

A dual wild thread with Yuina Higashi

It wasn't a pokemon.

A young man walked into view, dragging a blue bike along the road as he did. In his hand, he held a freshly used net ball— and was loudly arguing with his judgemental, floating Orbeetle.

"I never said I quit being a bugcatcher." He huffed at the beetle, ignoring the way the bug suddenly swiveled in place to stare directly at Yuina Higashi, its radar-like senses triggered. "Don't worry about it— I can take care of all of you guys."

What else was his AQUA contract for, if not abusing the financial aids, after all?

It was only after this very impure thought crossed his mind that he finally followed his Orbeetle's line of sight, his eyes falling over the slightly familiar silhouette.

With the girl wearing a scarf all over her face, it took him a while to recognize her. In fairness, he betted she probably didn't immediately recognize him either with his facemask.

... Geez, he hoped. Otherwise he would feel like kind of a prick!

"Yuina?" He called out, squinting at the tree line.

Oh good! The impressively broad shouldered ghost lady had noticed him! She was responding, even!

Only one problem with that.

"... WHAT?"

He couldn't hear shit over the ethereal, invisible cacophony that seemed to permeate every moment of the apparent afterlife.

Raising his hands in the air, the youth once again began the long suffering process of full-body gesturing to the ghost his message, going to great pains make the ghost comprehend his game of nonsensical charades.

YOU.

ME.

PIZZA.

... FEED EACHOTHER?

Smiling brightly at the ghost after having clearly, properly communicated his message, the youth pulled out a pokeball and summoned the old reliable-ish— Fearow.

"... Boy, you sure are thin. And... nowhere near big enough." He observed wryly of his big bird, to which it responded by jabbing him in the chest with its pointy beak. "OOF!"

Right, don't bite the hand that feeds.

"Alright then... Here... we... go!" He screamed to himself as he sprinted full tilt towards the edge of the island, his fearow taking flight behind him in a rush— just in time for him to leap off the side of the floating land mass.

For a brief moment, the youth fell down beneath the... clouds? Miasma of the dead? either or, his screams finally, briefly rising over the cacophony of hell.

Then his Fearow darted in after him, before rising out of said miasma with the youth in tow, its talons dug deep on the youth's shoulders as it made a rushed, desperate last 'sprint' for an island slightly nearer to the ghost lady.

They managed to make it.

Just barely.

Both collapsing to the floor, the youth and his bird alike panted for air, each labored breath tasting sweeter than the last.
