Alexei took to the skies. Elinor’s gaze followed, making sure that their air support got up there safely.

And then the journey began. Thick wines and alien life made for near impassable terrain. While Aggron would’ve loved nothing more than to go ahead and slash at all the wilderness, that role had been filled perfectly with Doublade and Kingambit, and so he found himself taking rear-guard instead.

A brief pause was taken to give Remiel a moment to drink. Elinor was quick to join him in that, sipping her own Canteen in the process. A small lighthearted chuckle escaped her, as she closed her Canteen once more. “We should.” Elinor agreed.

“And please, do not worry. I am not so delicate that a bit of sweat will affect me.” She replied. Hoping to ease some of the formal-tension that she figured Remiel carried.

She turned her gaze upward towards Alexei Ivanov wondering what fantastical views he might be getting from up there.

Elinor knew she couldn't SLEEP on the laurels of having saved Hoenn.

Still, as Andrea threw contempt filled accusations at her, she felt shame. Shame because she recognized those very same words as ones she had spewed during her campaign to ascend to the Council.

For a moment it became far too clear to her that her efforts so far had provided no more safety to Hoenn's citizens than there had been previously.

"No need to apologize, Andrea." Elinor's gaze was solemn. "You should expect no demand from us to do better." If the citizens did not, surely the League would fall to indolence.

As for the volunteer work. "I will admit I am not a person of science, so my knowledge on that would be limited. But I would assume it would be something like helping procure things for the experiments and such." Elinor spoke.

Elinor pondered Fernando’s stern word of advice.

Her eyes met with his. And she felt how his expectations tried to drill into her, to dig for disappointment.

Make due with the cards dealt…

A simple notion to spew when you weren’t in charge of the League’s public Image. But no, she could not simply let that be her defense. Fernando was every bit a member of the Council, perhaps even more so than she, he could perform her job should she be unable to do so, so to think less of him would be unwise.

“I suppose for all my complaining, my hand could definitely be worse.” She admitted. “I have colleagues with experience that I can draw upon.” She referred of course to Fernando and GABRIEL BLACK who had age on their side.

Her gaze wandered for a moment as she began to list the other cards she saw in her hand. “I have the League as a whole.” She paused momentarily to consider her words. “Which I am sure aren’t lacking in individuals eager to prove themselves should they be asked, whether it be among the Rangers, Officers, Military, the Gym Circuit and surely even the Elite Four.”

“And lastly, I must not forget, I too am a card that can be played.” The thought struck her, she would perhaps shine brighter as a beacon of hope among the masses, to lead the charge into these wild lands, and to guide them so that the losses could be fewer and the gains more plentiful.

Perhaps she might shine as Saint Lucy herself who had a whole day commemorated to her.

“Perhaps it isn’t as bleak as I initially made it out...” She returned her gaze to Fernando. Some small manner of her, hoped the answer would satisfy him, though she figured nothing could.

She fetched the now filled Pokéball and placed it back where it belonged.

“I am surprised.” Elinor admitted. “Never thought you’d be a collector.” The surprise was clear in her tone, but not in a bad way.

By the time Matias had shooed the Swadloon away, a Venusaur appeared. While she already owned one, she didn’t mind owning another. Kommo-o was quick to join its trainer at the sight of potential danger.

A quick battle began. The Venusaur, for being fully evolved, seems sluggish, even naive in its method of fighting. Which made her believe it to be young. But age did not matter, she attempted to catch it all the same.

“I am admittedly not much of a collector myself. So I don’t mind rolling should one appear.” Elinor finally stated.

“Oh? Well, if you need help with your studies, then perhaps I can offer my assistance?” Studying had never been a problem for Elinor. And since SHalin had been so kind with her compliments, Elinor figured there’d be no harm in offering.

Shalin then offered her another experience. But this one even Elinor would have to pass up. “As much fun as that sounds. I think I will save that experience for later.” Elinor smiled. “Would be a shame to not experience it on the back of one of my own Kommo-o.” She gazed toward her pack. They all collectively sighed.

By then Haxorus appeared and was defeated quickly, Elinor caught it well. She figured that would be the end of it. But then a Houndoom appeared and the events that transpired was, well to put it mildly, lunacy.

She was not sure whether to laugh or cry at the wild riding display. But by the end she found herself in the company of a Dreepy who had infiltrated her space, before being as caught in the display as she had.

When it saw that it had been caught, it could do nothing but surrender. After all, it had seen what had happened to the Houndoom, and if Elinor was as crazy as Shalin. Well, it wasn’t about to test fate.

After poking the Dreepy with a Pokéball, Elinor turned to Shalin and said. “... Well… That was certainly an unconventional way of capturing Pokémon.” Elinor was at a loss for words.

A plan was agreed upon.

Both Pokémon were sent ahead. Dragapult seeped into the shadows, as it stormed off together with the Raichu.

While the Raichu played a much more obviously distracting role, the Dragapult kept to the shadows at the behest of Raichu. It watched and waited with bated breath, hoping for a turn to jump the poachers or their Pokémon.

The Poachers noticed the Raichu, and for a moment considered attempting to catch it. It seemed Raichu took this as a sign and went all in. Sparkling with electricity as it Volt Tackled about, jumping everywhere and then some.

While the Poachers were distracted Dragapult would sneak in on them, using the shadows as cover before attempting to SUCKER PUNCH them in their weakest points

It figured taking out the Poachers would leave any Pokémon with no reason to defend them.

Besides surely Elinor and Josh wouldn’t be far behind.

Standing within an entirely new world offered to them by the wild rifts, surrounded not only by members of the League, but civilians, in the loosest use of the term. She was reminded of the conversation she had had with FERNANDO SILPH.

Stopping the people of Hoenn from going into these had proven impossible from the start, she had been well aware of that. But that didn’t mean she liked the thought one bit.

But since she couldn’t stop them, she might at least lead by example and jump head first into the danger. Wearing her red Ranger’s uniform. She gazed upon the very same mountain that the Ambassador suggested that they head for.

“I think that's a good idea, what do you two think?” She looked toward Alexei Ivanov and Guillermo Marceliño for their expert opinions. Though she hoped asking for their opinion wouldn’t lead to a long debate which would cut them off of precious time.

Meanwhile her Aggron stood nearby offering guard duty just in case. Watching the surroundings like a gaze so that nothing could sneak up on them… Or at least he hoped his watchful gaze was that good, but he did find the jovial dancing doublade a bit distracting.

It had been a spur of the moment plan. Honestly, she didn’t even know why, and even more baffling she didn’t quite understand why she had chosen to dress this well for an outing with a family member. Perhaps it was some meager attempt at showing the world that she was alright. And with that thought came the first sip of her Negroni.

Whatever the reason, she sat waiting, looking around until she noticed someone who looked like her Cousin.

A smile appeared on her lips, for a moment, pushing aside all the bleaker memories in favor of some delight. She waved at him, hoping to get his attention and lead him over to her table.

Casino Starlight. Sootopolis City. Perhaps not the wisest placed to be for a council woman. But she needed to show Hoenn that she didn’t fear Team Rocket. They were naught but a bumbling bunch of boy scouts with murderous tendencies and barely an inch of chest hair.

And yet, for a moment she felt apprehension of this inciting of conflict. Rocket had already chosen their path. Conflict was coming one way or the other, they had proven that with Littleroot, Mt. Pyre, even Meteno. It was all a question about time. And honestly, that made her feel anxious.

But she decided to push those thoughts away.

Clad in a neat black dress, hair fancied into a tail of sorts and mild make-up applied. This was what Elinor decided to wear for her bar crawl outing. Casual, but still fancy. Heels and a neat shoulder bag finished the touch. Though the latter rested neatly on her lap as she sat at the bar.

She had already ordered the signature drink of this place, a cocktail by the name of Galaxy. Though she had yet to taste it.

Her eyes wandered about, gazing upon all the people that had come here today. It was quite the crowd. Hopefully at least one amongst them would be worth conversing with.

“Thank you. Figured I ought to put in a bit of effort tonight.” A small white lie, it had taken her almost no effort to pick the outfit. It was just rarely the case that she figured a dress was better than a suit. But tonight was the night.

They were shown to their seats. Josh ordered a lemonade, while he might’ve been abstaining from alcoholic beverages, she was not to have any such inclinations. “I would like to try the Old Fashioned.” Elinor said. The supposed signature cocktail of this place had gotten some rather decent reviews from what a quick web search told her, but now was the time to see if they spoke the truth.

With the drinks ordered, she finally noticed the big screen currently entertaining the masses.

Josh began to speak enthusiastically about the game. And Elinor listened. It seemed he was really into this sport, she was still undecided. But that didn’t stop her from attentively listening as Josh explained the intricacies of the game or at least trying to, but it seemed fans of either team were prone to erupting into waves of loud cheering.

Their excitement was contagious, even if she wasn’t a part of it she felt how it made her cheerier. And as she did, she felt grateful for Josh, for having met him this year. For him being her small mirror into a more positive world, compared to her own bleak doom and gloom world.

But there was still bleakness to be found in Josh.

Mild worry found its way onto Elinor’s face as he informed her of Aslan’s condition. “I see. Well, don’t worry about it. Our battle can wait for as long as it takes for Aslan to do a full recovery. I am just happy to hear that Aslan came out of that whole ordeal alive.” unlike so many others, she didn’t even know if Josh had lost any Pokémon to Kyurem.
