The Sazerac stood in front of her. Enticing her to drink it. It’s liquid gently spinning about from what little inertia was left after it had been made.

As she sat there at the bar. Dressed casually compared to those around her. She found herself pondering on the time to come. Should she, like so many others, make a new year's resolution for the coming year? But didn’t she already have such a standing promise? To protect Hoenn. That was enough of a New Years Resolution, no?

Perhaps not.

Her gaze began to move about. Perhaps one of the many strangers here at Howling at the Moon. Would want to debate this topic with her?

“Yeah let's hope so!” Elinor dared not get her hopes up.

She was wise not to do so because the next Pokémon to appear was not of Paldean origin either.

This one was a Nidorina.

The Poison type didn’t seem aggressive at all. In fact, it seemed to try and CAPTIVATE the eyes of Kommo-o and trainer alike. Performing what could best be described as some form of interpretive dancing.

But even though the Pokémon moved about. Elinor was quick to notice how thin it was, the weakness in its movements. It seemed this dancing HUSTLE of hers weren’t paying off.

The performance came to an end.

Honestly Elinor didn’t know how to respond, so she lumped a Pokéball at it and hoped that it would stay in so she could give it some real proper food.

“So, besides all the Paldean Pokémon, how many do you need before your Pokédex is complete?”

Elinor’s eyes had danced about watching people getting sucked to the gambling tables with promises of riches.

One table in particular caught her attention. The table seemed to try and entice someone who felt less inclined to partake. So less inclined in fact, that they seemed to use her as an excuse.

A surprised look in her eyes but a friendly smile on her lips appeared as the person came over to her, clearly thinking she was someone else only to realize she was not.

“Sure, I don’t mind a bit of company.” Elinor replied to their request.

“My name is Elinor. And I do not believe we have had the pleasure of meeting each other before, no?” She spoke casually. And yet she had this inkling feeling that she ought to know him. Had she perhaps worked with them on something? Well, that only narrowed it down to a few hundred people.

Elinor and Delphox continued on with their wandering.

They came upon a Dartrix which. Like the Ivysaur it seemed inclined to defend its perceived territory. But with a few sputtering flames from the Delphox wand, the bird flew off. It did not wish to partake in a fiery battle.

“At least this one was smarter.” Elinor commented.

But it worried her, this sudden aggression from the wild Pokémon in the area. Sure she could handle it. But what of the trainers who just started out? They might not be so lucky.

Elinor found herself here tonight. Sipping upon their signature Beer known as the Winter’s Kiss. A rather romantic name for a sweet-spiced Leppa Berry ginger drink mixed with honey, nutmeg and roasted chestnuts.

But tonight was not for romance, tonight she sat alone at the bar. Dressed casually for the occasion.

Tonight was a night for friendships, new or perhaps old. Either way, she would sit here sipping on her drink and appreciate the memories of those friendships she had formed throughout the year.

Perhaps one of said friends would even show up to keep her company.

Elinor allowed people to speak. Taking in the information given as it came and categorized them in her mind according to her perceived timeline. Thankfully John Sullivan, MATIAS SILPH, Kazimir Wynter all provided very detailed descriptions, leaving her with woefully little to add.

“I believe you have all covered the whole bit very well.” Elinor spoke calmly.

“I am loath to admit it. But being placed near the center entrance to Littleroot spared me the brunt of the battles.Of the Rockets I faced I took note of two in particular” She tried to recall her battle with jayden cross and Elisabeth Fiorelli. “Unfortunately even for those identifying features were few.” She paused, recalling the image of Jayden first.

“One of them was male, keen on hearing his own voice and with a penchant for throwing knives during aerial combat. He honestly seemed to believe they were fighting the good fight.”

“The second one was female or at least presenting as such. With a penchant for making use of battlefield hazards and switching out Pokémon according to my moves.” Not a new tactic, but definitely not one she saw often enough.

“But worst of all. When it was clear that I would win the battle. She endangered civilians that had yet to escape as a diversion.“ Elinor sighed. It still annoyed her that she had let the woman escape. But she knew she couldn’t simply let civilians die like that.

“Anyhow, once Dialga appeared I moved to help with that.” Elinor made a wavy gesture with her hand. “But I have nothing new to add to that.”

For a brief moment everything was serene.

Then Guillamo came running with a Kaiju sized Centiscorch in hot pursuit.

Elinor was quick to nope her way out of there. Though Aggron was not pleased about that. It seemed like a fun potential battle. But Elinor would have none of it. Had she been alone, perhaps. But not.

She quickly retrieved Aggron into his ball and summoned forth her Hisuian Braviary. She quickly mid run jumped onto the bird's back and rose to safety.

The next stop on this odd journey was the crater. They had seen it from so far away. But to finally be there. She had to forgo her own habit of touching things as the place was filled with an odd amount of Ultra Beasts, tiny saplings they may be. Though she had limited experience with them. She still figured they could be dangerous.

“Very fascinating.” Elinor replied. “Though with all these saplings around, I wonder if we only need to worry about the big one over there if there'll be a mate coming.” Elinor said as her gaze turned to the big one buried nearby.

Little did she knew that the saplings were equally curious one of them was close enough to touch Elinor before her Hisuian Braviary could warn her.

At some point, you would think Elinor would grow wiser and not attempt to break the awkward silence with some flimsy comment.

But no. Today was not that day.

And it seemed the child in front of her was not in the mood for it.

“I probably would, yeah.” Elinor said. Her smile faded mildly. “But I think the floor will do just fine for me.” Elinor sat down, back against the wall. Hoping to meet Eris’s gaze as equals.

Elinor slid the package toward Eris. Offering her the donut treats inside.

“This is usually the point where I would ask how you are doing.” Elinor paused, her gaze wandered to Eris’s companion. “But, perhaps we ought to skip the pleasantries?”

Elinor was thrown headfirst into the pile of fresh snow. She had expected the landing to be harsher. But no, the snow provided a soft bedding for her to land upon, as she would ever so slightly sink into the snow.

Callan was quick to join her. Landing atop her expeditiously, though he made sure to not squash her. She appreciated that.

Their eyes met. He peeks at her lips. She gently licks them expecting a kiss which he so often did. Yet all she was given was a gentle brush against her cheek before he rolled onto his back besides her.

She tried to smile as she looked toward Callan. “Yeah, it is.” The lack of a kiss didn’t sit right with her. Callan would surely never forego the opportunity, so something had to be wrong. But she didn't want to press it further for now.

Drinking her ass out was not something she did often. Honestly. She couldn’t remember the last time she did it (Which surely meant it was a great success) but who better to do it with than cousin-dearest.

Lars was quick to join her and one-up her with a whole bottle of tequila. But what got her chuckling for a moment was his comment. She had to reply in kind.

“Wait, this place isn’t exclusively for rich folks?” She pretended to look surprised. But she couldn’t hold it for long.

“I am holding up as well as I can.” Elinor said, taking a sip. Perhaps she shot that down a bit too quick.

“How are YOU holding up?” She got the distinct feeling that what had happened at Littleroot was rather tame compared to the happenings at the Meteor.

Elinor gave Josh a nod. She wouldn’t question his choice of sobriety. She knew it was not an easy choice to make.

And it wasn’t one she was about to make as she made sure to acquire the famed Old Fashioned.

Anyhow, their topic of the Meteno incident continued. Josh regaled her with the story of a broken Absolite.

A tension began to build up in her face, just in time to be relieved as her drink was placed in front of her. She took a sip and allowed the Alcohol to do its thing. “I am sorry to hear that. If you need my help going there, I would be more than happy to do so.”

Of course that didn’t take into account any scheduling conflicts.

Elinor’s gaze returned to the game as she tried to make heads or tails of it. “Well, I will take your word on that.” She snickered and took another sip, while anticipating the sure to come tsunami of game-information.
