Oldale Town had become the unfortunate victim of a Maushold swarm. The family of rats trying to find warmth and food wherever available.

Like so many other trainers Elinor had joined the efforts to help and perhaps catch some.

With bait aplenty did she try to lead the swarm away from the city. Unfortunately it didn't seem to do much.

And yet she was hesitant to fight them, for oppressing a family, even if they were rats, felt wrong.

Two down, one to go. Elinor was so close to a quick victory. So close that she might be getting a tiny bit too confident.

Where her reflexes were near instantaneous in regards to her face, her chest was not considered of the same importance. And so she was slow, too slow. The Snowball hit her right in left boob. A mild grimace on her face as the hurt runs through her for a brief moment.

But she didn’t get the time to ponder the pain. As Callan stormed forward, arms spread wide like the grinch. Caught in surprise she found his arms around her quickly hoisting her up with ease as he loudly proclaimed his intentions.

All she could do was laugh as she yelled. “This does not count as a hit!” before Callan would surely use her face as the centerpiece upon an imaginary Ice cream cake.

New Year's eve. To think it had already come around.

As all good citizens of Hoenn she would spend the occasion bar crawling. Her first stop was the RITUAL down at Slateport Lower District. Her partner for this crawl would be none other than Mauwille’s very own .

Clad in a neat black dress, hair fancied into a tail of sorts and mild make-up applied. She had decided to dress up for the occasion, but in a casual way that would surely make her fit in among the common folk.

She entered the Ritual. The heels she was wearing helped with her height, and a snazzy thin black shoulder bag slung over her shoulder, finishing the look.

As she walked into the warmth she noticed Josh talking with the place’s door-person.

“I see that I arrived just in time.” Elinor greeted Josh. Though she did not forget to grant the employee an acknowledging smile and greeting nod.

A mumbled thank you, escaped Andrea. Elinor beamed an understanding smile. Having too much experience with the position that Andrea found herself in. It was hard not to want to smother the poor woman with empathetic care.

“Understandable.” Elinor gave Andrea a mild nod. For as much as Andrea seemed overwhelmed by emotions, she didn’t quite seem caught in the self destructive spiral that Elinor experienced at the beginning. The very same spiral that pushed her to pursue the heights of politics in Hoenn to make a difference.

But as Andrea continued, Elinor found her eyes gazing downward toward the ground, then toward the landscape. She could look anywhere but meet Andrea’s gaze. For she knew that what she was about to say would hurt.

While this was but a small taste of the inevitable HEAT DEATH that Kyurem offered, there were so many other threats out there that they simply couldn’t waste ressource on it. “Andrea. I wish I could tell you that thawing these victims is our first priority. But after the initial investigation concluded it impossible to break or thaw the ice, efforts have been moved to more pressing matters.”

“I am sorry. There are still people working on it. But it’s limited and so is their funding. Though I am sure they will happily accept volunteer helpers.”

Perhaps she said too much.

One early misty Morning at the Fiorelli Floristry, a humble messenger Delibird would deliver a small parcel. Within it a Pokéball and a letter. With neatly curved letters the recipient has been written.

The letter should anyone read it reads as follows.

"Here is a small token of gratitude for all the help you've offered in providing Hoenn with relief after some of its darkest moments. I hope that I can continue to rely on your help in the future."

“I suppose I am.” She had a cocky smile upon her lips as she tried to downplay her perhaps a bit reckless disposition towards throwing herself at new things.

Falling asleep would be putting it mildly. Her legs were rather numb, but it wouldn't be the first time nor the last time that she would walk with numb legs, nor would it be the first time she would hide such a fact.

But the slight wobbliness in her gait would surely tip Shalin off, that is if she was even looking. “It does. Don’t think I’d be able to last long doing that.” Elinor admitted. As she finished up the latest catch.

But if she thought that a respite would be given, then she would be very wrong.

A rampaging Haxorus made its way in their general direction. Were one to do nothing, it would surely reach them. Alas none of Elinor’s Kommo-o was intent on letting the danger get even close, and so one of them, Kalea, jumped into action, finally getting the spotlight a bit as she handily engaged the Haxorus in hand-to-hand combat.

The combat was quickly finished as she won handily and dragged the enemy dragon over to Elinor for capture.

With the slime caught, her attention returned to Matias.

“Same here.” Elinor replied enthusiastically. It seemed Matias and her would be fighting for the same Pokémon today.

“Which of the Paldean Pokémon are you in particular looking for?” Perhaps they wouldn’t be fighting for the same ones after all…

Meanwhile it seemed the Pokémon just kept coming. Elinor noticed an Exeggutor waddling over to Elinor’s Kommo-o and started a conversation, before she returned her gaze to Matias.

When she turned her gaze back to the Exeggutor and the Kommo-o, it had been knocked down and the Kommo-o looked mildly infuriated.

The Kommo-o noticed its trainer’s expression and looked mildly embarrassed. It looked around for a short second, trying to find some excuse, but found none and so instead decided to drag the coconut Pokémon over to Elinor by its feet.

Elinor sighed, found another empty Pokéball and threw it at the tree.

An Ivysaur appeared.

It looked at them, aggressively on edge. But she already had a Vensaur.

Elinor tried to move past, but it was barring their way. Perhaps it is looking for a fight? Elinor thought

“Will you let us pass?”

The Ivysaur shook its head. How could it let them pass? Too much had already invaded its territory.

Elinor sighed. “Del, please engage with it. But don’t be too rough.” Elinor said she had a good understanding of the why. But still, if they could not reach Oldale Town, then that would be a bother.

The Delphox chirped with glee as it finally got to show of its fantastical MYSTICAL FIRE magic trick. The fire flew quick and true, and though the Ivysaur tried to fight back, it had to yield to the superior fire power of the Delphox.

But the Delphox was not unkind, it gave the Ivysaur a LUCKY CHANT as it and its trainer walked past it.

If only Elinor knew that her family’s reputation worked against her. If only she knew that her Uncle Bill Anderson had used his position less than adequately. She might’ve seen Fernando’s at arm's-length approach. Well, of course she had skimmed the past records of previous holders of her seat, but she hadn’t dived deeper. There’d been more pressing matters like the end of Hoenn and so on.

“While I would like to believe we do, I know that would be very naive of me. So I suppose we do not.” Elinor replied, she sighed mildly. The thought of civilians headlessly throwing their lives at danger, while commendable, wasn't one she was fond of. One might even say it truly was ‘a nightmare before christmas’ for her.

"Less than successfully." Elinor sighed. With the amount of special snowflakes in Hoenn, it was a surprise that the amount of wounded from space time distortions were not higher.

"If our attempts at dissuading the populace are bound to fail, perhaps we ought to make use of their willingness to leap headlessly into danger?" Elinor suggested. Though she admittedly didn't like the thought of civilians being put in danger.

Perhaps Elinor had assumed wrong. She deduced as much from the way Amor spoke. If the sole requirement for the appropriation of generators were money, then it would have been rather easy for Amor.

Elinor looked with mild surprise at Amor, as he revealed that the Gym Circuit was a challenge he would be partaking in as well. She had never counted him amongst those who wished to train Pokémon for sport, even if admittedly that wasn’t inherently the purpose of the Gym Circuit, it was what most to her knowledge saw it as.

Before she could reply their food arrived. Like Amor, she found herself at ease. No burden of expectations, just two friends having a good old chat. At least she liked to think of Amor as a friend. And it seemed he shared the same sentiment

She mimicked his gesture, grabbing her glass and raising it as she echoed. “To our continued friendship” A quick sip was taken before she turned her attention to the food.

She began to eat alongside Amor. Like him her etiquette was prim and proper, suggesting, if he didn’t already know by now, that she shared a background with him. Admittedly hers weren’t quite as colorful as his, from what she had learned from that file.

Once a good bit of the food was consumed, she figured she could share a few words with Amor. And so, she began. “So, continuing the topic of the Gym Circuit. Have you considered in which order you will be taking the Gyms?”
