Following up on a trail of footprints that he heralded all the way from Sootopolis, it isn't Jayden's intention to be caught up in this swarm. He's following a set of clues listed for him by his intel — on the way to tracking and hunt him down. However, the ARIADOS block his way, hissing and sputtering, their TOXIC CHAINS exuding a poisonous aura that smells faintly of pecha berries. For some reason, it makes his stomach turn in an unmistakable way.

The PHEREMONES that leaked through Petalburg's street reminded him vaguely of those gifts that had one dispensed to all of them. It was of a sweeter time, before betrayals and RESENTMENT leaked through their ranks. Before The Cursed's heart had hardened with the bitterness that he held today.

The minute they started their assault, Jayden allowed the feeling of anger and rage, the ones that warned him against and that had pressured him towards, to fill him. It was as if a horrible blizzard filled his veins, freezing every other emotion in it's place. There was no hesitation or fear.

[break][break] He saw their assassins, teeth bared, as they were displayed before them.

[break][break] And Jayden wasted no time at all in cutting them down.

[break][break] His sword-hands whistled beautifully through the air, just as his swords had cut cleanly through the Ultra Wilds that he'd traversed with . However, this time, with each new cut brought a breath of fresh hair, as though the hatred pouring out from their victims revitalized and strengthened him in turn.

[break][break] A flash of something to his right made him snap his head to the source. Just in time too, as he saw his Blacksmith get teleported elsewhere.

[break][break] "Aurelie!" he growled, but it was too late.

[break][break] A blast of deathly frost catalyzed the Unnown that had placed her there, but though the assailant was gone, his friend was nowhere to be found. Jayden's jaw clenched and he raced through the hallway, crashing through open doors and broken boxes. Each room that he turned into however proved to be empty, almost as if the deaths at the front entrance had spoken to anyone inside, warning them of what was to come.

[break][break] Breathing hard, Jayden stared at the end of the open abyss. He hated himself, suddenly, for allowing her to come into such a dangerous environment. He said he would protect her. How could he have been so foolish?

[break][break] But at the end of the hallway, his Ruinous Beast stood, unwavered. Those brilliant blue eyes called for him.

[break][break] 'They tried to kill you,' they seemed to say. 'Kill us. Will you just stand there?'

[break][break] The disdain in his patron's face felt palpable. The disgust at his inaction.

[break][break] He released two pokemon: his Chandelure and Duskull.

[break][break] The last of the pokemon disappeared into a flicker of light, as the first released a SMOG down the hallway, to which Jayden quickly sprinted down.

In that moment, in the middle of that unending winter, they look the same. Both faces creased with snowflakes admist the flurries of snow, their faces hold a likeliness that nearly bears a resemblance. Blue eyes that glimmer like diamonds in the dark.

[break][break] And then, the snow melts into spring, and the winter falls from 's eyes, but not from Jayden's own. Suddenly, CHIEN PAO appears at the other admin's side, brushing up against him, as it licks away the HATRED beginning to brim in the cornerstone of 's chest, unbeknownst to Jayden.

[break][break] The Cursed glances briefly at the other before grasping his own hand, being pulled to his feet.

[break][break] "We should be careful," he says instead, looking around. There's no evidence of a DRK Triad member, outside of the frozen crystals of Unown. Jayden leans down, as if attempting to grab them, but then they shimmer out of existence. Destroyed, as if they were never there in the first place. His brow furrows.

[break][break] "This isn't good," he murmurs, under his breath. He straightens, glancing around him. It's then that he sees MYSTERIOUS TRACKS carved into the ground. Something about the sight of him stirs something in chest, drawn to it as if there is something deeper about the indentations that he can't quite recall.
