[attr="class","hanatext"]Disrespect comes in the form of a tongue click, but it isn't something that she's unused to. In the past... No, the past shouldn't really have a hold on what she does now. Instead she just raises a brow, regarding his tone with relative indifference as she waits for him to continue.

Thankfully, she doesn't have to stare for long, his next few thoughts are placed out and woven with hues of his true colour. The theoretical destruction he would wreak most certainly leaves something to be desired, but she supposes it's because she's thinking about it from the perspective of her own teachings.

You aren't here to make a statement. You are here to make things work.

"There should be a few others on duty with us, both inside and out." She regards his other pokemon with a brief glance. "Go fortify the area or something. I'm going to go watch the crowd for a bit. If you encounter resistance..."

Placid golden eyes look Jett Roan up and down, mixing the faintest of details with the drifting strands of memories.

"I'll probably notice something."

The separation would be pretty short-lived but perhaps, it would give him space and peace of mind where he doesn't have to appear meek in her presence. If she had to guess how the criminals of Hoenn operated, she would honestly prefer if they were dealing with the quieter kind, those who worked more with their heads but still had the muscles to back their plans up. And if she were to follow their train of thoughts, the best way to do it would be infiltration - Customers, staff, even the security deployed to this location. She blends into the surroundings as a mere wallflower; No one should be overlooked, lest the worst come to pass.

But for better or for worse, she doesn't consider Jett to be very high on her list of suspects.

[attr="class","hanatext"]She shouldn't have taken this job. If she had simply wanted to earn some money to pay rent, she really didn't have to put herself in the way of danger like this. And so she stands here, a chilly golden gaze fluttering over her supposed partner for this job and promptly flicking towards her Axew clutching at her ankles.

He isn't even meeting her gaze to begin with, awfully mild despite the disgusting history she knows that's carved into his mind. Is this really what he's been reduced to? Or is he simply trying to get her to lower her guard around him?

"That won't stop them if they're already inside."

Her tone is sharp, almost judging of the plan he presents. Having scouted this place out beforehand, she already knows that the entrance they stand at isn't the only way for rats to get in.

"You, of all people, would understand how they think. Put that experience to use."

[attr="class","hanatext"]She knows better than this - That a predator will camp a hunting ground where it has last seen its prey, and that a target will always be hunted if they don't learn to move. She has learnt that shaking her pursuers works best when she simply packs her things up and leaves on the next boat our of here. And yet she remains in this region.

Why does she remain here?

Is it the people who have started to tie her down? The fact that she's getting far too attached for her own good? That she's begun to allow herself a sliver of emotions?

What does any of it matter? In the end, she's paying the price for her humanity as she hurries through Pacifidlog Town. Her attention sticks to the road before her, but it wanders occasionally with the movement of objects within her periphery, her ears listening out for the sound of footsteps that attempt to approach her.

For the sake of her own sanity, she's already doused herself with the powers of Illusions, her appearance rather non-distinct as to allow her a chance to blend in with the crowd. As long as she keeps her pace even, she should be able to avoid -

There. A passer-by murmurs rumours of a strange man on the bridge. And with that, she has her cue on which route to avoid as she tries to make her way out of the town.

The only real question is whether they're ready to cause a ruckus to weed her out.

If simply given a bowl, a spatula and a whisk, and asked to work with it, Lilith would have no qualms with doing everything by hand. But she neglects to mention a word about the sheer extravagance because if it makes him feel like a true baker, why should she rain on his parade?

"Uhm."

Unlike Toshiaki, she doesn't quite have a cooking apron to adjust, only a Wooloo to carefully manoeuvre around with ingredients and bowls in hand. And whilst he smiles, she can only offer him a temporary look of contemplation.

What were they actually making?

"Macarons, I guess..."

What a great choice for beginners! She carefully pulls her hair back and twists it into a bun, bundling it all up with a rather mundane brown clip.

"We need to separate the yolks from the egg white." Golden orbs do nothing better than reflect the beautiful hue of his eyes, tinted with hues of concern as she attempts to pull the words from her mind.

"Do... you think you can do that?"

[attr="class","hanatext"]Peaches. She doesn't remember ever hearing of such a Yamper. Then again, she has forgotten many details that she's deemed unnecessary to remember, especially when she doesn't expect to meet familiar faces in a new region.

But it upsets him, that much is clear. And he's trying his best to keep his tears in check, so she has to make a choice - Try to comfort him or do something that won't make him feel self-conscious about breaking down in front of her. Whatever it is she chooses to do, she has to tread carefully.

Placing her glass down, she reaches to take his hand.

"Actually... I can show you, if you'd like to help me prep it."

She's never been good at addressing emotional issues, so busying the mind is just about the near best choice that comes to mind. And if it makes him comfortable enough to talk about it, she'll welcome the discussion when it comes.

[attr="class","hanatext"]'Just' steamed rice and vegetables is more than enough of an improvement for her. That much is made clear with the quiet nod she gives, even with her gaze still stuck to the rims of her mug. Or is she agreeing to the whole question of whether she has any stew recipes?

It can probably count for both, she reckons.

"Mmm... Well... I have one for cawl. It takes a while to cook but it's simple enough to prepare..." Gripping the handle of her mug a little tighter, Lilith watches how the juice sloshes on the sides as she gently swirls it. "I usually go by estimation, but I can probably write the recipe down somewhere..."

She stops, looking back up and letting her gaze wander towards her table for a moment. Then she pushes herself to her feet, carefully balancing her cup in one hand as she shuffles on closer. Hex doesn't seem too concerned at the moment, the seams of his costume swishing quietly against the open book whilst his pencil clicks and clacks against the desk.

And all might seem well, if only she hadn't held her hand out expectantly before the ghostly gremlin.

The Mimikyu stares back, still as a rock as his little shadows grip onto the pencil. Tighter and tighter, his hold grows stronger as he begins to shake his head vigorously, letting out the beginnings of a rather strained screech -

"You can have the paper instead."

Everything stops abruptly, the Mimikyu slowing to a halt as his head lops crooked to one side. Then he slaps the pencil right into her grasp, his entire being quaking as he hops off the coffee table and bolts underneath her bed with a cackle. All that's left is Lilith gingerly flexing and relaxing her fingers as she takes a long sip of her juice.

"Bubbe's really a saint compared to him."

[attr="class","hanatext"]Hearing him drop the word 'promise' so easily makes her wonder just how much he values the bond they share. After all, that was something akin to a child's version of a blood vow, right? Or if she recalled correctly, it would be something much less sinister...

And there had once been a time where ever stopping to question herself could be considered a death sentence. Now, she reminds herself that that isn't necessarily the case, especially around this... goofball, might be the most apt descriptor here.

And yet, she feels like she's facing such judgement as she stares blankly at the fist he holds out. Silence fills the gap between them, a faint squint being the only emotion she manages as she looks to his hand then to his face.

Perhaps, she doesn't notice the way his eyes are on her instead of the sparklers. Perhaps, she chooses not to notice, lest she start questioning if she has something on her face.

It climbs higher and higher, the little star nearly touching her fingers when it finally burns out. But never once does she flinch, even as the gentle wisps of smoke snake around her hand.

"That's a rather calm end compared to something that supposedly explodes thousands of light years away... Still, don't burn your hand."

Pulling the bucket of water that they'd brought along, she places the sparkler in and listens to the hiss. The heat is bearable but not something that she'd choose to keep around if given the chance. And she readily holds her hand out to take his sparkler, if he ever chooses to give it.

"And uhm - well, I don't mind... just... don't hurt yourself. You know how to light them safely, right...?"

[attr="class","hanatext"]Contrary to the stranger's expectations, Lilith isn't that far off from where she started. And instead of attempting to make as much distance as she can, she stands there, lying in wait for the inevitable pursuit.

Thankfully, it doesn't take long before Hex begins to chatter, the shadows growing longer in the alley as they reach out. And when the Golurk finally steps into its midst, the noose tightens, razor sharp darkness ripping the construct right out of the shadows and throwing it right into the wall.

"Don't kill it."

Disappointment leaks from the Mimikyu as he stops, retracting his claws as he shakes vigorously. But then he snaps, driving deep gashes into the street that narrowly avoid the Golurk. There comes a quiet inhale, but Lilith never once bats an eye at the aggressive display.

"If you value your master's life, stop him from looking for me."

The night grows colder, the streets devoid of any other life as she finally slips away. When the Golurk is found, a haunting message hovers in the shadows, melting without a trace as soon as it's read -

It's his family, it's his bonds that he wishes to grow and treasure. Though she may harbour some bias against trusting others, she doesn't wish for her own experiences to hinder his progress. [attr="class","hanatext"]Sure enough, it isn't impossible to get into the ruins. But destroying things isn't quite her forte, so she chooses to leave that to those more confident in their abilities instead. When Sonata swims about to indicate she wants her to follow, Lilith raises an eye but doesn't quite hesitate to follow. After all, the ocean is this Lumineon's home ground and she has keener instincts regarding the safety of this area.

It's a real shame that Lilith really doesn't have the swimming capabilities to match her will. Before she can even make a move, she catches sight of the giant serpent rushing right towards them, barely managing to twist her body such that it slams into her side instead. The pain bites quick and she's thrown off course, inhaling a sharp breath as she collides into PENELOPE LIVY.

What is up and what is down? Her bearings are distorted as she tries to move, her attention focused on her lone Lumineon as it speeds towards her.

"Trap that..." She wheezes out even though her voice is silenced by the chaos. But Sonata catches wisps of the command, uncertainty filling her eyes as she slowly turns towards the giant Huntail.

The water churns under the Lumineon's guidance, flowing and gathering into a singular spot as a Whirlpool forms. The current grow stronger, attempting to pull the Huntail back down into the depths, the choppy waters slicing and jabbing into whatever parts it can reach.

"I'm not broke. I just don't see why I should throw these out when they're still usable." She sighs, returning to hand Toshiaki his cup before gracefully lowering herself to the floor and crossing her legs. "It's not a lot, but there's space for the stuff I need and enough leftover for me to put stuff I want."

She nearly blows on the surface of the juice but stops as soon as she remembers and quietly takes a sip.

"And you would have bothered me about coming over at some point. So I figured it'd be easier to get it out of the way while I had the chance to."

[attr="class","hanatext"]It takes more than a vanishing act for her to let her guard down, more than silence for her to feel at ease. Given the way that Hex begins to mutter and curse under his breath, she knows he's sensed something else - Perhaps another pokemon aiding the pursuer in escaping his shadowy grasp.

Which is why she barely blinks when he appears right before her eyes, keeping her pace as she pulls something right out of her pocket. And in those moments just before she reaches within arm's length of the man, a blinding red light fills the alleyway, accompanied by the faint steps as a tiny figure takes hold of her hand.

Then she disappears, snatched away by the violet swirls of a cheeky Teleport right before his eyes.

There's no sound from her, no tongue clicks or elevated breathing, not even her footsteps carry noise through these dank alleys. In fact, the only noise that echoes is the sound of the stranger's calls, his steps unregulated as he tries to chase her down.

Of all the people she's met, he must be either one of the sanest or the most foolish that's ever graced her presence. He's far too predictable, far too traceable, far too graceless for someone who dresses up like a ninja.

It's almost as if he's asking for the city to stick their heads out of their windows and look at him.

Hex giggles lightly as his head begins to sway, the shadows decorating the backstreets growing longer under the pale moonlight. As soon as Lilith crosses the threshold, they come to life, clawed tendrils snapping up around the stranger's ankles in hopes of restraining his movement. Whatever this person wants, they're going to have to try a little harder than that.
