"Something with caffeine..." Quinn did a quick mental inventory of the things he'd packed for the excursion, opening the cooler he'd brought along and extending the strangely-shaped can towards James. "Charja-cola work for you?" He asked with a smile, before returning to setting up the instruments.

"Well, the title of the email was certainly eye-catching!" Quinn giggled, tapping on the glass of his barometer to make sure the needle was working. "...but, I really was enticed by the chance to work with someone from the League laboratories, to be honest. You guys over there are kind of like rockstars compared to us at the Weather Institute."

As much of a workaholic as Quinn was, even he recognized the need for leisure time every once and a while, even if he doesn't necessarily feel comfortable in Sootopolis City due to Team Rocket. Luckily, the criminal organization didn't spend much time patrolling the beaches, allowing him to relax some without the comfort of his Ranger escort.

Stretched out on the beach towel, adjusting his sunglasses with a small smile as he looked upwards towards the sporadic clouds, enjoying the exceedingly beautiful day. Lucy, his Gardevoir research assistant stood underneath the beach umbrella, arms crossed over her chest with an annoyed look on her face. "Will you relax? You have the day off, after all."

A couple of months ago, there had been a sighting of the legend known as Rayquaza in Sootopolis City, before the occupation of Team Rocket and the inexplicable appearance of the Tree of Life. It was unfortunate that Quinn didn't get wind of the appearance of the Sky High Pokémon until after the invasion had taken place, especially since the legend was known for controlling the atmosphere, a significant topic of study for someone in his field.

Civilians were still allowed in the city, but Quinn was advised to not enter alone, especially considering he was in charge of the weather machine project. Team Rocket getting their hands on any information about the machine could potentially be catastrophic, but he couldn't deny his curiosity, that was why he'd reached out to the Rangers for assistance. "I don't know where to point my eyes." Quinn admitted, walking alongside Lia with a nervous gait, finding there was Team Rocket wherever he looked.

The sooner they got to the lighthouse, the better.

Working with another scientist was always something to which Quinn looked forward. The exchange of ideas, the creation of hypotheses and conclusions based on data, but most importantly not being judged for being such a nerd about loving the former things. When someone from the League laboratories reached out to him to study the effects of weather on the mating of Pokémon, Quinn could hardly contain his excitement.

When the time came, he trekked into the Petalburg Woods with what was probably far too much equipment for such a simple endeavor. "I brought drinks and snacks, did you want anything?" Quinn asked James with a smile, as he worked on setting up the measuring equipment, hoping to make a good impression so he'd be invited to work on future collaborations.

"O-oh, t-thank you." Crimson dusted Quinn's cheeks at the compliment, crumpling easily under the weight of embarrassment at being called handsome. The food looked and smelled delicious, reminding him that he hadn't eaten today until now. "This looks really good!" Scooping up a spoon, Quinn started digging into the chowder, shoveling a few bites into his mouth before realizing that Rayne had still been watching him. That was embarrassing...

"I'm Quinn, nice to meet you!" He quickly pivoted, smiling softly at the introduction. "I work for the Weather Institute, actually! I have been researching some strange weather patterns in the area, and I like being out in the field more than sitting in the labs." A Lugia being behind the weather disruptions was his own personal theory, one that he hadn't shared with his colleagues just yet, he needed more proof.

"Also, because I heard really good things about your café!" Ripping up some of the bread, he dipped it into the chowder and popped it into his mouth. "They were so right."

"Oh, thank you!" The owner seemed nice enough, cute too. Sure enough, the Raichu bounded over with a glass of water, looking slightly distressed without a place to set the receptacle down. "Oops, sorry!" Hands moved quickly to push the documents into a neat stack, allowing them to set the glass down without impediment. "You're funny." Quinn giggled, accepting the menu when it inevitably followed.

After taking a few moments to look over what was being offered, Quinn finally spoke up. "Hmm, can I get the Clamperl Chowder and Pumpkaboo Spice Coffee, please?" The order was spoken to their Pokémon, assuming they knew would be able to understand, perhaps incorrectly. Either way it was recited loud enough for Rayne himself to hear, thanks to his natural jovial nature.

Quinn crossed over the gangplank of the ship with awkward steps as he juggled a number of folders and binders between his arms, careful not to lose any of them to the waters of Pacifidlog Town. Ever since the meteorological event that took place during the Star Soiree, the Weather Institute had been working closely with the Mossdeep Space Center on studying the phenomenon, causing overcrowding and general chaos at the normally peaceful laboratory he'd become accustomed to.

He needed someplace quiet to sort out his thoughts and pour over meteorological data without a bunch of rocket jockeys looking over his shoulder all the time. "Whew!" The belongings were dropped onto an empty table with no small amount of noise, prompting a sheepish grin to spread across Quinn's lips. "Sorry..." He slipped into his seat with a crimson blush hot on his cheeks, beginning to sort out the mess he'd made for himself.

    “A mystery room? That sounds like fun, we should totally do that sometime!” Quinn was too excited about doing something new and cool sounding to realize that he’d essentially agreed to a second date. Of course, the giddy smile would be replaced by a sheepish one the moment the other mentioned cuddling, his cheeks being consumed by crimson once more. “O-oh yeah? That sounds really nice...” The idea of cuddling up to Kohen was a pleasant one, especially considering how attractive and kind the other man was.

    “I don’t have to go back to Fortree until tomorrow, maybe we can...do that tonight?” Quinn’s eyes diverted to the ground, not really used to being so forward when it came to romantic situations. Yet, he couldn’t resist wanting to spend more time with Kohen even though they barely knew each other. It was nice to have someone be so genuinely interested in him.

    “C-change that?” Once again he was easily flustered, this time by the implication of changing their relationship status to something more...shared. “M-maybe we...uhm...should.”

“O-okay.” She called him cute and that was more than enough to make him flustered, reaching for the bottle of wine that was being chilled inside. “So, how have you been?” He asked, making idle conversation while he poured the contents of the bottle into a set of glasses.

“Here you go.” Quinn handed the glass over to her and took a seat beside the woman, the sound of rain beginning to patter against the roof of the truck. “It’s supposed to be a strong one. We might be here a while.” He glanced towards the monitor, the darkness beginning to creep in from the storm clouds.

“A uhm...h-harem? I don’t uhm…” Quinn was obviously flustered, a deep flush of crimson filling his cheeks as he attempted to find some answer to the provocative suggestion. Wait a minute, did Aria say she would join? Did that mean she was interested in him for more than...? Before he had a chance to become even more embarrassed, there was a new face that presented themselves with a questionable Kalosian accent to save the day with their inquiry.

“Oh, good question! We’re looking at the functionality of both, actually.” Relationships were where he was out of the element, but he was able to immediately snap into a groove once science was mentioned. “We’ve contracted an extremely proficient coder who will be assisting with automating the process, using data projections and meteorological analysis. We also will be having a team specifically to manually monitor the weather machine and provide human input as needed.”

“O-oh, specifics...right…” Quinn was noticeably embarrassed at providing non-sufficient answers, especially considering Kohen seemed genuinely interested in him. “I mostly listen to Pop and Rock, myself.” He smiled softly, admittedly it was nice to talk about himself for once to someone who would listen. “Reading, I’m a big fan of those crime novels. I love those kinds of mysteries, you know?”

The smile on his face brightened when he mentioned a movie genre of mutual interest, becoming more giddy than before. “Horror movies! I love those too, but I'm usually too scared to watch them by myself.” Kohen mentioned being on the market with a wink, a not-so-subtle indication that he could potentially change that. “I’m uhm...i-in the market.”

“Well, our plan isn’t exactly glamorous.” Quinn glanced over the monitors and radars, making sure that nothing had changed since the last he’d observed. “All we can really do is wait and watch.” A soft sigh escaped from his lips and he turned to look Aria in the eyes, a sheepish smile on his face. “Sorry, I know it isn’t as entertaining as evolution research.”

He stepped over to one of the cabinets, opening the door and revealing a miniature fridge tucked inside. “Want anything to drink? We have water, some alcohol, and some juices. no apple, unfortunately.” Quinn smirked, mimicking her offer from their first meeting.
