Something slides into place, shifting to reveal a treasure buried beneath the rubble. It isn't shiny or new, but ancient, and eager for fresh eyes. 

What began with Creation now bleeds into the present, like the last strands of a setting sun.

A secret lies waiting to be found. Three this time.

First is a Prompt. Hidden in shadow, add it to your post for a little help. You'll need it.

Second is a Pass Code. Unlike Creation, this word is whole. It too, is hidden in shadow. Wrapped and backed by darkness. Drag it into the light, and whisper to me what you find. 

Third is a Trio. You will recognize them for what they are. There is no mistaking these scattered forms for anything else. 
They are hidden best of all.

He was sitting on a deck chair on the balcony of his Sootopolis home, watching the waves breaking on the beach far below. "It's a bit laid back, but a recognized classic. Quite popular at parties and at my youth camps. It's called Wonderwall."

"Greetings everyone! Thanks for coming!" said Bill. He stood at the front of the Church, looking spotless despite the ruined, dusty surroundings. "We've got a lot of work to do, so lets get right into it. Let me know if you need anything, and watch out for splinters!"

There are many who answered the call for help. JOHN DOUGLAS SULLIVAN , , , , , , , , ROWAN WRYNN , , , , , . 

As the group work on removing rubble, clearing the foundation, and all manner of other small tasks, others arrive. , , , , OSCAR CLAYTON , , , , @hades .

Perhaps they were called by their friends, or were just late by happenstance.

Perhaps they were summoned by something Greater.
Or something Darker. 


This round, please clean up the Church ruins.

Watch the rubble, with as many eyes as you have to spare, as there are things to find among the broken bones of faith.

Glass, stained with dust and neglect.

Stone, worn by the salt winds.

Stairs, leading downward.

YEARLY MIXER FOR THE CHURCH OF ARCEUS

A fun and lighthearted cleaning event, set in the abandoned catacombs underneath the destroyed Ever Grande Church of Arceus

OVERVIEW & PURPOSE

Early this year, the Ever Grande Church of Arceus was destroyed! Now, Bill has put the word out asking for some stron9 y0ung men and w0men to come and help right thi5 73rrible wrong.

This Non-De4th Enabled Raid will place great importance on character decision, and will lean heavily into themes of ritual and secrets. 

The conclusion of the raid, will change 8ased on p1ayer act1on throughout. Pl4yers can influence this 0utcom3 by completing IC promp7s and us1ng Pokemon 4bilities and Moves associated with three thematic cate9ories:

The stars we see may already be dead.

Extinguished.

Vaporized, even.

"We're here looking for Arceus," Bill said, as Killian and his Espeon joined them on the walk up the hill.

Chryssa floated along, nestled in her Lunatone. The lights on Bill's Beheeyem blinked slowly, coloring the cream crescent in flashes of deep emerald, Martian red, and solar yellow. "Light is nothing more than energy," Bill explained, "and what has more energy that the being that created the universe?"

"In classical imagery, gods and rulers are always depicted backed by flashes of light. It's evocative imagery, but also meant to show their power." They reached the observatory proper, a squat, compact building with a rounded dome top that had been closed to conceal the telescope within. "In this case, it's literal. The original Luminance Field map showed a concentrated point of illumination so powerful that it was unexplainable by any other means."


Bill looked around at his associates. "Now, who has a key?"

Bill saw the Future.
Or, more accurately, he recognized this future for what it was, and the past that it followed. "It's a resort. In Pacifidlog. There's only one thing this eyesore could be. A gym." And not just any gym, but the gym of a kid who spent 90% the city's budget on developing the largest, most luxurious battle paradise in the world, only to leave after a few short weeks. It was the reason why people like had so much difficulty getting into positions of power. Previous abuse by underage league members.

"No wonder the rest of the city is living on log rafts. What was the infrastructure cost on this? Billions? Tens of billions?" 

Bill gave his answer to the door, and it opened, Inside the Hall of Answer, Bill found exactly what he had been searching for: a hint.

Outside, Bill picked up the one item he didn't expect to see: an ear of corn. It looked...dangerous.

But the danger was only beginning, as flames swirled and grew around them, igniting the maze and trapping the remaining few in a showdown with a furious dragon.

Thus far the threats on the island had been slow. Constant. Ponderous. The threat of assassination had loomed, but you could avoid it by protection. There had been broken elevators, slippery pools, and even the great outdoors.

But these were not surprising. They were ever-present dangers that you had to accept and face, and there had always been another way. 

The Mega Charizard was a surprise.

Bill didn't associate corn mazes with danger, but as the maze became a pyre, he rushed to the side of his remaining allies. 

Hypnosis threw wide, shimmering rings around the raging dragon, slowing its assault of fire. "We have time. Surround it."

Bill's Musharna shuddered throwing up Reflective shields to stop the encroaching flames. The barriers warped with heat, but held.

Charizard reared back for another Flamethrower, but Musharna pulsed again, sealing the move with Imprison.

If only Kyle was here. Despite his role as the killer, the champion had been smart. Tactical. He had lain almost undetected by hiding his innate intellect. He hadn't stood out, which was in itself suspicious. " would have already defeated this thing." 

And then, rising like Ho-oh from the ashes, Kyle was there. "Welcome back, Champion," Bill said, a moment before he clubbed Kyle with the corncob.

"Nice shot," he said to , who had just blasted Kyle with a crossbow. "It seems we didn't need him after all."

"I wasn't planning on going for council, but after the state I found the city in I couldn't just sit there." Machamp dug its fingers into his lower back, worrying at a knot there and coaxing it to release. "Not after the pirates, or the bank robbers. Sootopolis was in a sorry state even before Rocket got there."

"If light shows the past, then we must look to the future," Bill said, leading them all to the elevator. The floor inside was covered in some thing black clothing, perhaps discarded by some previous occupant. 

Through the lobby and out onto the cold grass, heading up the hill towards the second, less public observatory. Slick blades crunched underfoot as they found the path. "Twenty-three years ago, the Mossdeep Observatory's Noctowl#1 produced its first Luminance Field map. On their own they are quite beautiful, casting webs of light to show something stunning. A snapshot of what was hidden in the deep darkness."

"Two years later, this project bore real fruit. A map that didn't just show some dark star, crumbling asteroid, or lost expanse, but God."

I think we have to look to the future to catch the truth in time.
"This is just a standard observation telescope," Bill corrected. "It's perfect for tonight, but what we truly want is the Noctowl#1. It uses Luminance Fields to map sections of the deep cosmos." Bill peered experimentally through the scope, and got a delightful view of the Smeargle Nebula, but nothing more.

"The Noctowl#1 is in the observatory further up the hill, locked up for the night I'm sure." The observatory had tight security. Not to safeguard any celestial secrets, but more to keep their billion dollar equipment under lock and key.

Bill looked between the others. The Admin, The Scientist, The Portentous.  "Chryssa has an interesting point. Perhaps we must look to the future to see the present. I heard has something of a gift in that regard."

"-of course we only use it for religious ceremonies. Many of our congregation have seen visions of the creator with the aid of herbal inhalation," Bill explained. 

The elevator opened, and the pairs rejoined. "My apologies Chryssa. It is easy to forget the burdens that many of us struggle under. Especially when, like yourself, they are so adapt at overcoming them," he nodded his head in apology.  

"And what did you two talk about while we were discussing medicinals and fanfiction? Was it..." Bill distilled his knowledge of the young woman and her deadly elevator companion, "...ominous?"
