'Apologizing during battle? That's a first.' Though it was pretty annoying to be rained on indoors. There was no further shelter to escape to, after all. Well, maybe Derek could summon a pokemon to shield him from the rain.

But he didn't.

Commanding a Hyper Beam of his Claydol, it quickly focalized it's power and launched the attack straight for the Blastoise, erupting with enough power to push itself back several paces. What kind of effect it would have on the Blastoise and it's heavily armored shell, however, was beyond him. They'd just have to wait and see...

"Your Gallade's a slippery one!" Derek exclaims as the illusion of swift victory becomes just that. The pokemon is largely untouched by the assault, quick to liberate itself from the rock snake's hold and position itself at a range. "But we've got something for that - Onix, gas the field!"

The Onix cocks back it's head, familiar with it's trainers line of thought. The inhale was obvious, and perhaps what was coming would be just as familiar to the two of them. Sweeping left to right, the Onix exhaled, filling the battlefield with noxious breath that could very well paralyze those who didn't exercise caution in it's midst.

PETALBURG PICNIC

As spring turns to summer, our hearts and our days become a little warmer...

While not in the forecast, those who bear witness to the efforts of the trainers gathered are sure to be met with surprise. The pokemon is quickly advanced upon by many a pokeball, though perhaps the most lazily tossed of them all is the one to find it's mark. The mother bear has been separated from her cubs, both starving and unsure of herself in this new world. Yet due to their efforts, she is able to lay her weary head in the comfort of a pokeball much more sophisticated and luxurious than it's predecessor.

It's a quick assessment to make, as the Illumina pokemon's brilliant shimmer fades out before the image of it's mangled form can burn into one's memory. Not that it doesn't pain Derek to witness what brief glimpse he got. To know. To have to move on without much of a thought for it.

While he can vaguely make out a silhouette in the distance that proves more daunting than what they face, Derek can't pursue it. Another stands in their way. One who is also responsible for all this death around them. For that of his Bastiodon. Derek answers with both a Metagross to safely (Protect) carry him and a Gyarados that proves eager to dominate the much larger beast. It wasn't accustomed to anything standing over it.

The gym leader's hand reaches for and crushes a z-crystal, leaving behind an irradiated trail of energy that his Gyarados readily inhales. The power quickly wells up inside it's maw, bloating Azirim's gullet to an extreme before it was unable to keep the energy in check. The violent surge of water (Hydro Vortex) would quickly overtake the strange pokemon, though Derek wasn't sure if it'd be enough to amount to his idea of revenge just yet. But maybe with a little luck...

I mean, a lot of these pokemon shoulder a large responsibility in the cosmic scheme. Not really sure how they'll cope with the mortal coil we're accustomed to as lesser beings. Like, do they make time for you or you for them? I don't know, it's beyond me to really speak to any of this. I'd like to see more legendary pokemon, though! Well...assuming it's under better circumstances than usual. Haha... ~~forehead sweats~~

To shield himself from the ill effects of what can only be viewed as a rogue explosion, Derek summons his Bastiodon to act as a shield and PROTECT both him and the Slowpoke. They make it out in one piece, save for the fossil pokemon whose remains added to the aftermath like any other debris.

When able, they moved forward trying to make sense of the obscure. But before Derek could make it very far, he noticed markings along the ground. Trying to contact anyone on the open comms, the failure to do so prompted a warranted sense of paranoia. What they witnessed so far was just the tip of the sword. But what kind of pokemon prioritized jamming comms over keeping everyone literally in the dark?

Tendrils finding their way along the forest's undergrowth snap up when the Loppuny's feet finally grace the area within it's reach. They're soft and supple, much unlike the weathered vines that constrict Jester by the ankle, quickly yanking and dragging her along the ground.

Her chance to snatch up the first Zigzagoon is gone as quickly as it came, and she's left to lay on the ground, disoriented from the sudden displacement as she searches for the perpetrator. But this was only one of Ur's vines, which could be seen slithering back along the forest floor in search of prey that'd been spooked away.

He'd known that a Gallade's arms were as powerful as any sword, but the empowering dance it performed made it an even greater threat. "We can't just let them stand there, bind it up!" Derek commands the Onix, which begins to rush forth, causing a ruckus as it's rocky form bashed and scraped along the surface of the gym. Using it's size, the tail end of the Onix swoops to grab around the Gallade, squeezing it tight. Pain and injury of some kind were certain, though Derek knew the Onix's size and power may not be enough.
