Great shot as she may be, archery isn’t of much use if she can’t properly see her targets from a distance, is it? It’s no defensive skill. ”I’ll remember to bring a pokémon with Defog next time…”

Doubtlessly she will come here again, but for now making sure they can find their way back to the rift is a greater concern.

When they encounter a spirit, she smiles faintly to herself, making sure her Emolga captures all of Audric Black’s interaction with it. While doing so, she turns to look at colton fall, adding to response given to his question:

Hoenn’s history is filled with events that the rest of the world can barely even imagine, and ever since Amelia Livy had first become a historian, it has been her duty to document them — especially after she began working for the League. From changes in the political landscape to cataclysmic circumstances; it’s all relevant. The rifts that people have begun to call The Wilds are, of course, no exception to that.

”I never thought it’d be so… beautiful.” The historian says in awe, looking at their ethereal surroundings. Her attire is comfortable and practical, bearing the red armband of a ranger cadet. Her platinum hair is tied into a neat ponytail, and surprisingly enough, hanging from her shoulder there’s a compound bow in its sling (just in case they run into something dangerous, no? She sure as hell knows how to use it). On her other shoulder, however, sits an adorable chocolate brown Emolga that wears the smallest of cameras on a harness.

”Make sure you get good aerial footage of it all, Momo. I’m counting on you.” Lia tells the Emolga when it takes off, and as it does, she also releases a golden Pidgeot from an Ultra Ball. ”Otto, keep up the group from up above. Let us know if you see anything dangerous.”

With how thick the mist up ahead seems to be, all precautions seem necessary.

It’s at this point that Lia looks at her companions, offering a smile that is as soft as it is gentle.

”I’m Amelia Livy, by the way. Historian and archivist working for the League. You can just call me Lia, though.” With this introduction out of the way, she nods at Audric Black’s suggestion. “Following them sounds good to me.”

There are certain circumstances where science and humanities meet, although in her life this has mostly been when it comes to Archeology. On this particular late Autumn night, they meet at no Archeological dig, instead finding themselves looking up towards skies illuminated by Minior in their rapid descent.

A kiss that’s a little too short for her liking does have the intended effect still. It’s sweet, and for the few seconds when she’s so close to Marshall that all she can focus on is his presence, Lia forgets all about her stress over making a fool of herself when snowboarding.

And then it all comes back when he goes down the little hill as if it were the easiest thing there can be. Ugh, how is he so cool?

Okay, to be fair, it probably is easy to him, and in essence snowboarding is simple enough, but if her track record with Mantine Surfing is to be proof of anything, this is bound to go wrong fast. At least angelo vestri isn’t here to make fun of her this time, but Marshall is, and Lia knows all too well that he will if she gives him the opportunity (she’d do the same if she were in his place, wouldn’t she?).

She takes a deep breath.

”Okay. Okay. I got this.” There’s determination in her voice, washed over by a wave of confidence, and for a moment, when she pushes forward and begins to go down the little slope, it really seems to work. Her stance is right, her board goes down straight, she doesn’t lean too much to either side, and it all goes well…

Of course, it’s then that she realises she has no idea how to stop.

”Fuck- Wait!” Lean a little too far back and balance is lost, resulting in Lia waving her arms until she ends up falling back onto a pile of fresh snow. ”...Ow.”

It doesn’t really hurt, even if having her feet stuck to the board is a pain, and in the end, she can’t help but laugh about it all.

Snowboarding 101 [m]

Lia had never imagined walking in the snow would be this hard. It seems simple enough in the movies, doesn’t it? Playing in the snow, a winter wonderland, and all of that… Instead, it’s more akin to walking on the desert sands if the scorching heat were replaced with a cold that bites, turning the tip of her nose bright pink. The snow becomes compact under her every step, making her feel incredibly clumsy – like a toddler who is still learning to walk properly. She probably looks really silly.

It’s the sort of thing Lia tries not to think about, just how she tries not to think about the ever so detailed records she recently wrote about what had caused the existence of this Silent Iceland. She thinks about the good things instead; about how fun snowboarding looks, about how she has always wanted to try it, about the instructions she’s given, and most of all, about Marshall Slade.

”If I fall, you better not make fun of me.” A playful smirk tugs at her lips. Lia may be athletic and all, but everyone is expected to fail the first time they try something. She stands at the top of the hill, clad in white snow pants, a yellow parka, and the most adorable Scorbunny beanie.

This day had not gone as she had expected it to. At the ruins, everything that could have gone wrong had in fact gone wrong; they had found an injured pokémon, they had had to battle a wild one, and they had then spent hours at a pokémon centre as a result. Here, however, at Marshall’s apartment, things had gone unexpectedly in a much different manner…

If it were up to Lia, she’d kiss him forever, and the realisation of that makes her feel incredibly light. Happy. Giddy. He really does make everything better for her. How could she have spent so long without him?

It’s chaste and sweet and nice, and if it were up to her, it would last an eternity. Instead there’s a few seconds that feel like a lifetime and like too short at the very same time, leaving her craving for more.

Their gazes meet once more, gold on crimson. That smile of hers remains, soft and faint, and at her cheeks, rosy hues also refuse to fade.

There’s a quiet chuckle, and leaning in closer, their lips touch once more. The first kiss with someone always has a certain experimental nature to it; a kiss meant to decide if this is really what they both want and if they like the experience as much as they thought they would. The second kiss, however, is confirmation of the truth.

No matter how many times one may imagine a moment, reality is never exactly as it had been expected. Lia had fantasised about all this before; enamoured daydreams of Marshall complimenting her and telling her how much he likes her. She had never thought he would sound so nervous, blush so much, and stumble over his words. Much less that he would outright tell her he wants to kiss her.

It’s sweet, and it’s just so very… him.

”You’re going to make me blush to death.” Lia teases, allowing herself a soft laugh. The warmth of a blush does indeed burn on her cheeks, and as she looks into those gorgeous crimson eyes, she finds herself feeling almost as if she’s floating.

Gently, Lia takes his hand, giving the slightest squeeze.

”I’d like that a lot.” She admits, smiling. And, after another nervous chuckle: ”...You kissing me, I mean.”

The breeze is cool and not at all strong, yet its presence brings reminders of the simple fact that after a long day of ruin exploration, bike rides, and hours at the pokémon centre, her hair probably looks like a total mess right about now. The truth is that it looks just fine, she had taken a moment to fix it at the pokémon centre while waiting for the Cranidos to be treated, but anxiety does as anxiety does – especially when alone with someone on whom she has an undeniably crush.

It almost makes her want to excuse herself, run to the bathroom, and check her appearance in the mirror. The only thing stopping her is seeing how relaxed Marshall looks… and then what he says to her. Her cheeks feel like they’re burning.

”Oh…” With a slight smile and a soft chuckle, the glass of water is placed on the table. She takes a seat on the spare chair, looking at him and once again tucking a strand of hair behind her ear. ”You do? I’m glad… I was honestly kinda worried you might get bored at the ruins, but I guess it was pretty eventful, right?”

There’s a light laugh at that, nervous. His words still ring in her mind, and her gaze is still fixed on him and him alone…

”If I may.” Lia interrupts the conversation, looking at both the councilman and Locke Jamison. ”It sounds like Necrozma’s appearance may have been an unintended consequence of taking Tapu Fini’s life force. Like how Rayquaza was once drawn to the same city by a primal crystal.” It had destroyed Sootopolis’ lighthouse. It had been the League who was responsible for such events – she knows that, and she knows that Fernando knows that as well.

”That doesn’t make them guiltless, though. Far from it.” They had abducted people and tortured them. They had killed legendary pokémon. They should be put to justice. Lia's mind lingers on Locke’s mention of Chu-e Choi and she remembers where she had heard the name before.

Is Locke Jamison a Team Rocket sympathiser? To be speaking with such familiarity of a known criminal…

”I hope the League intends to take action after the Meteno crisis is dealt with. Team Rocket needs to be stopped.” She sighs, tired. In the past, Lia had thought of Team Rocket as not her greatest concern, but it’s quickly becoming clear that she had been terribly wrong in this assumption: they’re hurting the entire region. ”Regardless... Is that everything you need from us for today, Mister Silph?”
