The suggestion is really just a heads up. If League interviewers were letting such simple, well known Rocket intel slip through the cracks then something was definitely wrong with the interrogation process. His head swivels as he takes in what he can see from where he is before pointing at the tell tale tower at the center of the city. "There. We're getting as close as we can again to it and see if we can find any documents on the people who lived here before hand." he explained before letting out Joules. [break][break]

The shiny Magnezone floated upwards, hovering over the pair as it beeped for their attention. It then began swiveling, giving an initial check before it's eyes land on another person. Joules drops closer to the ground once more before floating their way over to Morrigan Anderson and given the man electronic greeting.

He gets the news on his way back across the rift. Rocket had captured the SEAL and the operation was a massive failure. While various people collected the dead or returned form their scouting, Paxton did his best to contact PENELOPE LIVY for proof of life. He checks in on reports from other rangers. A quiet nod and a small sigh of relief when he sees Elise Calcifet is safe. He does check ins with the people that matter, calling CALLISTA MOON first to give her a debrief of what he could. Then of course @sol , if she wasn't on the line with callie. He calls thomas nightingale , leaving him some stupid dad joke on voice mail and inviting him over for coffee for another 'hot goss' session. Finally, he calls his list of people that matter ends. And he's left with one number. He dials it himself, having the number printed into his eyes. He lets it ring, and ring, and ring. Eventually, it goes into voice mail. That's alright, he thinks, before leaving a soft spoken message amongst the hum drum of recovering supplies and heading back to their respective bases. He held the phone to his ear, pinned with his shoulder as he carefully peeled off the layers and began to apply disinfectant to a large swathe of burns across his chest. [break][break]

Paxton looks up Caleb Harcourt when questioned. He gives him a once over before his eyes narrow. It's a lapse in calm demeanor. A sudden understanding and a hateful glare before he forces himself to look down at his notes to take a breath. "angelo vestri and skyler dross despite their work around the region have not agreed to a full alliance under the League. While the League works with them, such as our contracts with NAUTICA to catalogue the rifts, their record of staunch neutrality makes them unsuitable for full disclosure of project details." he explained. "Much like how the League wouldn't put their full trust into terrorist defectors, we're not and should not offer our intel those who aren't fully committed and vetted by the League. Trust isn't something you build in a day. But if all else fails, the are a resource." With that, he's done speaking to the ranger, saying only the bare minimum to some that utterly disgusted him. Custody is one thing. Allowing them free roam in their ranks was another. He didn't agree, already foreseeing another intel leak. [break][break]

His attention moved to the councilwoman who he immediately acknowledged. "Understood, Councilwoman Elinor Anderson . I will schedule something in the coming weeks." he said, annotating the future appointment. When Laurence Anderson spoke he nodded at they confirmed PENELOPE LIVY 's reports. Though, he doesn't quite agree with the weakness that Lars brings up. He nods as Oliver Shrakes spoke. Legendary pokemon weren't the end all be all of battle. He'd seen plenty of bloodshed without them. [break][break]

As Rowan Wrynn spoke up, he can't help but glare again, irritated at another undeserving recruitment. He hadn't heard the specifics, but he doesn't care. It's just another criminal that wouldn't take accountability for their actions. They're lucky to have survived Meteno. The mention of shadow pokemon has him remember something else. "Is there any reason you chose to reveal this now, instead of earlier in your defection?" Surely, the middle of Ranger Corps meeting was not more ideal than the debriefs he may have had with Raziel Beckett or the Council themselves.

He speaks of their power but Paxton's brain is already turning gears. He doesn't fear this, only seeks to understand it more. "So you- Rocket, was also involved with the Hatchery that produced the shadow pokemon before the Necrozma attack?" he asked. "Many other legendaries have been sighted fighting for Rocket, so why haven't they been turned as well if they have such a power?" Paxton continued, tone taking on a familiar investigative aggression that PENELOPE LIVY had often attacked him with. He doesn't contemplate the fact that she may be rubbing off on him. In the midst of all this a young woman nearby greets him and he breaks his concentrated glare on the ex-beast to stare at Elise Calcifet quizzically. It's out of place, but he holds his tongue. Instead, he dipped his head in a silent nod before going back to writing.

As Sierra runs to try to push the Iron Moth even farther, it makes the choice to sacrifice itself for the group. But the pwoer of its OVERHEAT is overwhelming and just as Paxton is about to try to bash down a door in the hallway, the heat stops. The monster disappears, captured into a pokeball. The dream disappears and Paxton is left staring at the body of his comrade, and and then at his companion. [break][break]

He nodded quietly, taking out his Skarmory's poekball and destroying it. "I can escort you to an outpost for medical attention." he offered, though his eyes are on the pokeball. "I can't believe that shit...is real." he added, trialing off as he looked around. No signs of the other robot they saw, just the charred corpse of his pokemon. He wasn't moving.

Isaac is persistent, and the longer this goes the angrier Paxton became. At some point they roll in the ground, tired and desperate and Paxton ends up on top at the grunt spoke. The lone eye peers through broken glass wild, pupil small as they locked onto Isaac. "Better than you have tried." he warned, voice cold as as he slams a hand at Isaac's throat, his other going to his thigh to grab a knife. "And I've killed all of them." [break][break]

He digs fingers into the blonde's throat, the glint of sharpened steel reflection fires and explosions that circled around them. He's just about to plunge the blade without a shred of hesitation before Joules, the real Joules, barrels through shrieking and beeping until her eyes finally lock onto Paxton. The sight startled Paxton, his piercing gaze finally leaving Isaac and going back to Joules. And as the Magnezone cries, dispelling the vision of the shiny magneton in a pile of itself, Paxton's shoulder slacken. He forgets Isaac, about to run for the electric type, relived they're ok. He scrambles off Isaac, sprinting towards the Magnezone and immediately beginning to check it for dents or rust. Joules is relived to find it's trainer, with multiple eyes closing as it embraced him. However, a lone eye watched the Rocket, hoping they would just walk away.

As the pokemon fight, they can't quite reach Felix or Paxton. Hopper is busy with their unrelenting assault of the hidden ghost type. And Conibear snarls angrily pushing at the barrage of CLOSE COMBAT with continuous attempts to grapple the Gallade with PLAY ROUGH. [break][break]

Then a gun shot goes off. As Paxton pulls up his rifle to fire a shot at the Admin, one hits him first and he's almost grateful its a pistol. Except it hurts like a bitch, even under kevlar. The gunshot sends him stumbling back, struggling to breathe. [break][break]

In an instant, Hopper TELEPORTs to his side and beeps with concern. Conibear also turns back to check on Paxton only for the Gallade to knock her back as well. On her fall she rolls onto her feet and stomps on the ground to create a ROCK SLIDE for cover. As she does, Hopper glows before TELPORTING the trio away to safety, as Paxton tries to catch his breath, having most of it knocked out of him. PARANOIA getting the better of Hopper.

The TELEPORTed hostiles are quick. And Paxton is almost impressed someone could track him down that quickly for a change. Every other Rocket that'd tried it have been more stupid, charging at him head on. The Porygon tries to cover from above, taking the BLIZZARDS and sending back blast after blast of TRI ATTACK to keep the Frosslass occupied, wherever she was. [break][break]

Paxton, for his part reaches for a pokeball even under threat of fire. Out jumped Conibear, who upon seeing the pistol aimed at her trainer began to glow in turn. Paxton own mega ring glows in response and the Mawile transforms, lunging forward him change at the MEGA Gallade and their trainer with PLAY ROUGH. Paxton points his rifle back. And while he can't check sights, its still a hell of a painful shot in this range. Either way, he was bound to take some hits eventually. He just had to trust in his team they wouldn't be fatal.

The moth isn't going down, though its stopped by a blast of water that send its skittering back on white linoleum floors. Paxton uttered a curse as he realized his companion is fully stuck in the dream sequence. Fine. As the creature continued through it's paralysis, glowing brightly in warning, Paxton pulls the rifle off his back. [break][break]

"That thing feels real enough, hopefully I don't shoot anybody else stuck in this labyrinth." he said as he loaded rounds into his rifle. "Sierra, come back!" he ordered, closing an eye and tucking the butt of his weapon into his shoulder. he puts his sights on the metal Volcarona and fires, a bullet smashing through one of the strange pieces of its wings to keep it from flying back. It stutters in the air but still seemed to be overheating, its body glowing red as it prepared to fire off a blast of energy. His Skarmory moves in, despite Paxton's protest, FEINTing into the robot bug and smashing his tired body against the threat. All the while Paxton scrambled to load another shot, intent on destroying another wing before it blew up the hallway they were in.

Foxtrot is crushed with such ease, they barely make a sound as they perish. But as their cries fade, the Lucario also seems to slump downward. Paxton opens his eyes, loading another in the chamber at Cygne comes running for him. She's faster than expected and he can't quite aim the killer blow. [break][break]

Instead he fired again, the bullet going for the woman's torso in an attempt to get her to drop. Though, he's already certain its just another Rocket. It'd at least stop her before he could put her out of her misery for good. The kelp growing from around his right eye peeks under the helmet, growing longer as a strange response to the adrenaline of the moment.
