[attr="class","textbody"] Dynamax is an awesome power. To see Tofu wield it is nothing short of breathtaking. Yet, at the same time, it steals his breath in a way that is uncomfortable too — he knows that something like this can't be all great, that their must be something paid back in exchange for such a power.

[break][break] But it's an arms race, that much Ollie knows, and as Head Ranger he has no choice but to learn to wield it.

[break][break] When the fight ends by lieu of the Councilwoman returning his, Ollie also calls Tofu back. Eventually, the Pikachu is back to his normal size and he leaps to Ollie's shoulder as the Head Ranger walks across the field to meet Freya.

[break][break] Her hand is grasped within his own, his grin warm and bright as it usually is. In his eyes, there is a bit of worry — same as hers. Dynamax just has that kind of impact.

[break][break] "Lyune's great too," he says with a nod, letting out a laugh. "I know she wasn't using her full power."

[break][break] Head tilted, he glances towards the smell of warm food behind them which loft out from the stalls.

[attr="class","textbody"] Just like that, the battle ends with his opponent recalling her pokemon. It's something that Ollie can admire, caring a lot about pokemon himself.

[break][break] When Tofu returns back to his normal size and leaps back to his shoulder, Ollie gives him a short ruffle around the neck as a 'good job bud', before he turns to their opponent.

[break][break] "Thank ye! Your Arbok's pretty strong too." He bobs his head in acknowledgement, his smile only faltering slightly at the mentions of Rockets. Ollie still didn't like fighting them, or the fact that he had to, but he knew it was a thing that they'd have to do either way. He thought about people like Isaac Merlo or Caleb Harcourt who'd gotten out. Couldn't they get the others out too?

Red light surrounds the Pikachu as he's returned to his Pokeball and Ollie can't help but let out a laugh as Razz calls out to him.

[break][break] Dynamax was truly an awesome power, which was made even more real by the sight of Tofu's G-MAX VOLT CHARGE colliding with their opponent's psychic waves. When the battle ended, so did the electric type's temporary evolution, reducing him back to his normal size. Tofu heaved heavy breaths, shaking him pelt quickly.

[break][break] Though he'd done it many times now, he would never get used to the feeling of being smaller again. It made his bones feel slushy and full of goop.

[break][break] Ollie reached over to pick him up, placing him onto his shoulder, before walking over to DESIREE BLOOMS.

[break][break] "I was just teasing, ya know," he said with a smile, nudging her in a friendly manner. "As for your question..." He hummed in thought. "I guess I gotta say yes."

[break][break] "But there's a lot of people I love. I bet you can the say the same for yourself."

[attr="class","textbody"] It doesn't work as effectively as it does for FERNANDO SILPH, but it does the job. When Tofu acts, slashing out with a molten silver tail, it clashes against a protective barrier and causes the Pikachu to skid backwards slightly against the pavement.

[break][break] Lilycove's sunlight is bright and beaming despite it being January, but that quickly ends with the BLIZZARD cuts through the air and rattles the Pikachu into winterfrost.

[break][break] Oh shoot.

[break][break] "Shake it off, Tofu! Counter with Electro Ball!"

[break][break] Electricity coils in the air in the form of a bright ball of light, which is slapped by the Pikachu's tails as it attempts to sear across the arena and knock the Glalie from the air like a bowling pin.

[attr="class","textbody"] It's nearing the end. Ollie can tell. Tofu's growing fatigued, tired after all these matches, and tired against the stubborn enthusiasm of their opponents.

[break][break] Though water usually beats fire, this time it's different. The Arcanine's flames pulse powerfully through the pillars of water, embers flicking as it scorches the Pikachu with it's remaining heat. Ollie returns him to his pokeball before too much damage can be done — and he becomes a Pikachu-skewer!

[break][break] The battle over and done with, Ollie goes to the center of the battle and offers the other a hand out to shake.

[break][break] "Dude, that was awesome. You and your Arcanine are really strong! You guys are gonna do amazing in the tourney."

[attr="class","textbody"] The CRUNCH is the final blow. As the fangs sink dangerously into his skin, the Pikachu lets out a howl of pain so fierce that it knocks him out and ends the battle.

[break][break] Ollie bites the inside of his cheek, holding back a sigh of disappointment, as he grabs Tofu's pokeball to return him.

[break][break] However, the Head Ranger is nothing if not a good team player. His smile is effusive and warm as he offers it up to blue murtagh, a hand placed between them to shake.

[break][break] "You did a great job! Awesome battle, and your dog's super strong too. Best of luck in the rest of the tourney!"

[break][break] Ollie wouldn't remember the name, but Tofu sure would. After all, this pup was giving him a hard time.

[break][break] The SHADOW WAVE hits the waves of electricity, buoying them back effectively, causing the explosive attack to merely exist as tiny sparks that fall into the dirt. Behind them, the crowd shouts their approval, no doubt encouraging the cleverness of the Lucario as he launches his next attack.

[break][break] When the AURA SPHERE comes for him, Tofu pivots sharply on his heel. Energy glows around his tail as he attempts to stop the attack with a well-placed IRON TAIL, slicing molten hot through the blue light.

[break][break] Pain still sears him anyway though, causing him to stumble back.

[break][break] Ollie knew that Tofu could be competitive, but it had been a long time since they'd fought so long and so often. They weren't young anymore, chasing after a dream in the Kanto circuit. And that lack of endurance had taken a toll on his partner, which was made obvious as Ollie watched him get taken down by a TAKE DOWN attack.
