How much had she seen? She'd seen a broken and bleeding man, sprawled across death's doorstep, barely holding onto life. She'd seen Petalburg Woods, in all its singed glory, holding the almost-dead man in a forlorn embrace. She'd seen a God of her home region, beautiful and ethereal, standing protectively over its newfound champion, intent on preventing the last thread of Isaac Merlo's life from being cut.[break][break]
"Just the aftermath," she replied with genuine sadness. "But I know what you did." And who you did it for.[break][break]
A frigid breeze blew between them, chilling her to the bone. She shivered, but remained steadfast upon Trillium's back. Rage and grief fueled her, warmed her from the inside, but she kept her expression mostly calm. The last time she'd lost her temper, she'd nearly turned Parker's apartment into an impenetrable crystal fortress.[break][break]
"Do you understand why I'm angry, Isaac?" She sighed into the wind. They'd been friends for a long time, best friends, but his defection had shocked her all the same. She wondered if her reaction was equally surprising to him.[break][break]
The thing about love was that it often blinded.

Kallistatus stared blankly at Nomi, waiting. She wrung her hands, didn't meet its eye. She knew it was waiting for further explanation. Like parker jones, it did not wish to put her in harm's way.[break][break]
"I know it's dangerous," she began. "But Isaac is important, Kal. Holo said the DRK Triad has had to kill him in every universe. I'm not betraying Rocket, this isn't about helping the League. It's about making sure things happen differently this time."[break][break]
She paused, gathered her resolve.[break][break]
"We all need to survive what's coming, so we need to change the narrative."[break][break]
Kallistatus regarded her, its expression thoughtful. It turned, dawn by a sound, but this time Nomi was prepared for another wild Pokemon to appear. She threw a Safari ball at the shiny emerald Zubat before it had any chance to bother them.

"We need to find Isaac," she explained softly, chest aching at the mention of the newest Rocket defector.[break][break]
The last time she'd seen Isaac Merlo - through Kallistatus's eye - he'd been in Petalburg Woods with Suicune. She still couldn't believe the Johtonian God was in Hoenn, but her brain had swiftly pushed aside the disbelief in favor of the very logical conclusion that Isaac had been chosen as an Avatar...same as she had.[break][break]
Holo had been right all along.[break][break]
No, not exactly, Nomi reminded herself. Holo had called her The Architect, but that's not what the Unown called her. Holo had called Isaac the Purifier, but Nomi felt suddenly absolutely certain that title was not what Suicune called him.[break][break]
A rustling caused Nomi to jolt in surprise, heart nearly leaping from her chest. It wasn't another Rocket come to punish her for her transgressions, however: it was merely a wild Yamask, adorned with a silver mask instead of a gold one. Curious. Nomi threw a safari ball at it.

Kallistatus barely teleported in time, the TRIPLE KICK missing it by mere inches. The Pheromosa was fast, which Nomi chastised herself for forgetting.[break][break]
The shiny Unown-K reappeared next to Nomi, and her vision returned to normal. She could still see the man from her vantage point, but in far less detail. She did notice that his Pheromosa was still frustratingly alert, her gaze tracing the horizon for the missing Unown. Sooner or later, she'd find Nomi's hiding spot.[break][break]
"Ultra Beasts are quite adept," she muttered. Well, she could play that game too, couldn't she? Taking out a Pokeball, Nomi released Datura with a flash of light. The shining, pale Nihilego floated forward, as ethereal and unnerving as ever. Nomi smiled at it, then pointed towards the man and his Pheromosa.[break][break]
"We need to distract that man and his Pokemon," she explained. "Kallistatus will cover you."[break][break]
The Nihilego nodded, undulating, then began to float swiftly away - towards the Pheromosa. As it did, it dropped TOXIC SPIKES around Nomi's position, to protect her should anyone try and get too close.[break][break]
Kallistatus followed after, the Unown-K beginning to glow with a soft orange light, readying a HIDDEN POWER.

Nomi felt a pang of guilt at the mention of Rockets. At least Jack had not clashed with any of her peers yet...perhaps if she guided him out, she could help him avoid any further trouble. It would help Rocket's cause for as many Rangers as possible to leave the island...ideally without injury or death. Jack was certainly the sort of man who did not deserve to be caught in the crossfire.[break][break]
"I was sent by the university to investigate the strange energy emanating from this island," Nomi explained, using the excuse she'd rehearsed. It helped that it was not entirely a lie. "So far, all I've found has been...well, dream mist."[break][break]
As fascinating as it was, it was old news. She'd hoped to discover something new here.[break][break]
Nomi looked around at their surroundings, really taking them in. "Why Galar?" She wondered aloud. Was it because of the vivid, prolonged dream of Circhester she'd had during the conflict at the Ancient Tomb a few months ago? Or...[break][break]
"You're from Galar, aren't you, Jack?" She asked suddenly, remembering that detail about his life. "Does this look familiar to you?"

She. Lugia. Nomi smiled fondly, nodding as Cillian revealed the details of his Avatarship's beginnings. She understood his position well.[break][break]
"The Unown saved my life, too," she answered quietly. Reverently. "I would have died in the RKS Machine if not for them."[break][break]
Isaac too, but she didn't mention that.[break][break]
Even though she knew Cillian had accepted her as a sister, it still made her heart swell with pride to hear him call her family. Reacting to her joy, the Unown around the Rockets began to dance about in jovial revelry. As they did, a soft humming could be heard, rhythmic like a heartbeat. It made Nomi feel warm, like she was being engulfed by a loving embrace. Crystalline forms began to materialize in mid-air: a tiny Lugia surrounded by miniature Unown, a microcosm of the family Nomi and Cillian had been referencing.[break][break]
But then - [break][break]

I SEE YOU.

Nomi jerked, sensing a presence. Not the Unown. Not Cillian. Something else, something...deeper. Bigger. Older. As if the very realm itself was perceiving her. A sudden intuition told her that it was time to leave.[break][break]
Ripping her eyes away from the beautiful performance of the Unown, she moved to Cillian and gently took his hand in hers.[break][break]
"We can't stay here," she murmured, a hint of sadness to her tone, motioning for Kallistatus to join them in returning to Hoenn. "I'll take us back now."[break][break]

Nomi can teleport into the UNOWN DIMENSION; however, she can not stay for too long ~~lest it perceives her~~ because of the harsh elements ill-fitted for human beings.

Nomi nearly lost her connection with Kallistatus out of sheer unexpected surprise, so specific - so intimate - were the details Admin Bee seemed to know about his former prisoner. Surely he didn't...[break][break]
Well, whatever had been done to the Ranger, it wasn't Nomi's business. Not really.[break][break]
This is the man Isaac risked his life to save, she couldn't help but remember, but she pushed that thought aside, as well. They had work to do.[break][break]
"I don't see him," she confirmed. "Probably for the best."[break][break]
Nomi watched as one of the Rangers took out a radio device, bringing it to his ear. The others clustered around him, presumably about to receive some sort of instructions or intel. She frowned.[break][break]
"Scramble the signal," she urgently commanded Kallistatus, not bothering to explain what she was seeing to her companion - there would be time for explanations later, if he wasn't able to pick up the context clues.[break][break]
Using its own electromagnetic radio waves, the shiny Unown-K, invisible to the Rangers, began blocking the incoming transmission. The Ranger holding the radio was greeted with an earful of static. He jerked away from the device, a confused expression on his face.[break][break]
Nomi grinned, pleased. "I've cut off their communications. Now would be a good time to act, if you have a plan of attack, Admin Bee."

A psychiatrist? She wasn't sure what she'd been expecting, but it hadn't been that. How curious. And, she decided, useful.[break][break]
Nomi smiled back at Marcus when he mentioned the Unown. She held out her hand, and the Unown-A flitted down to it, circling around her arm enthusiastically. She giggled.[break][break]
"I have a special relationship with the Unown," she began. "I am their Avatar. It means they've accepted me as one of their own, and have gifted me some of their power. In return, I show them the love and affection they deserve."[break][break]
Kallistatus joined the Unown-A, and the two stared at one another, a silent conversation between kin.[break][break]
"The thing is...I'm new to this," Nomi admitted. "I'm still figuring out everything I can do." She eyed the Unown-A thoughtfully. "In fact, if you don't mind, there's a simple experiment I'd like to run right now, if you and your Unown are willing. I can see through the eyes of my Unown, but I've never tried it with an Unown that did not belong to me."[break][break]

Leaves crunched beneath Nomi's feet as she traversed the forest, golden and red hues greeting her as she made her way deeper within. Several Unown trailed behind her, the symbol Pokemon bobbing up and down in the dappled light, one in particular shining a brilliant blue.[break][break]
She stopped abruptly. The Unown clustered around her, awaiting instruction.[break][break]
"Let's discuss assignments," she declared.[break][break]
Nu floated forward. "Mt. Chimney, please. We need to continue keeping an eye out for Moltres."[break][break]
It blipped out of existence, heading to the requested destination.[break][break]
Next came Alpha, who Nomi sent to Granite Cave to watch the entrance to the Ultra Deep Sea: the League was up to something there, operatives coming and going quite frequently as of late.[break][break]
Sigma to Ever Grande, to spy on the League Council. Vin to the Ancient Tomb, to look for any remaining clues in the wake of the conflict there. Watt to the Silent Icelands.[break][break]
Finally, only Kallistatus was left.[break][break]
Nomi hesitated.
"I..." She faltered. "I need you to look for someone."

Crash![break][break]
Nomi whirled around, alarmed. Kallistatus popped into existence next to her, shining blue body glowing with energy, ready to defend her. There wasn't any actual danger, it turned out: just a knocked-over display of kitchen appliances.[break][break]
Nomi glanced around the department store, but nobody else seemed to have noticed the disturbance. She leaned down to pick up a fallen ZOJIRUSHI RICE MAKER, pleased to see the beloved Johtonian brand in Hoenn. All of a sudden, however, the buttons began to light up and the "twinkle twinkle little star" song began to play, which normally indicated that the rice was done. Nomi dropped it again in shock, a confused expression on her face.[break][break]
Kallistatus zipped down to investigate, then seemed to sense something, and floated over to the shelf the appliances had originally been sitting upon instead. Nomi watched as Kallistatus chased a Rotom out from behind a microwave, and she laughed, realizing what was happening.[break][break]
"I better take care of this," she decided, grabbing an empty Pokeball from her backpack. She threw it at the rogue Rotom, hoping to capture it before it could take over any other appliances.[break][break]

Nomi abruptly stopped walking. They'd reached the end of the line of souvenir booths, a crossroads leading towards rides or food. The sugary sweet smell of funnel cake wafted through the air, and Nomi's nose twitched.[break][break]
"I don't believe you," she stated bluntly. Intense crimson eyes regarded him. She was small in stature, but her presence seemed to fill the space between them all of a sudden.[break][break]
"That you wouldn't try it."[break][break]
She cocked her head, pastel pink hair falling over one shoulder. Fernando was the sort of man many likely found intimidating. Nomi merely found him unnecessarily cryptic.[break][break]
"But if that is truly the case, then please, enlighten me. Which mystery would you consider more pressing? Choose carefully, for they all have merit."[break][break]
She folded her arms.[break][break]
"I am not the sort of woman who chases prestige over progress."

When she pulled back to gaze up at Parker, there were wet trails streaking her cheeks. Parker's tone was reassuring, willing Nomi to not only hear the words she was speaking, but the sentiment backing them: devotion, clear and unwavering.[break][break]
"I believe you," Nomi whispered, voice hoarse.[break][break]
A heavy silence hung, then, broken only by Maisey's soft whimpers. The apartment looked exactly as it had prior to Nomi's reality-altering outburst. Kallistatus continued to hover nearby, its singular eye fixed on Nomi. If one were looking closely, they might even say that it looked concerned for her - as much as any floating symbol might.[break][break]
"I'm angry," Nomi admitted softly, and though her tone was calm now, her hands were shaking. "He should know better. To risk his life for...for what? To release a prisoner?" She shook her head, trying to recall the entire message she'd read, the shock having blinded her to the details. "There have been plenty of Rocket prisoners. Why this one? Why now?"[break][break]
