Giving Greyson a rather big grin, Ash pockets his hands, his chimp chittering on his shoulder as he follows on. "Yeah. Makes for a good conversation with someone else, you feel?" He puts the hop to his step, as he throws his hand over his head, looking around the cave.

While the Empoleon falls to the floor, something interesting does pop up. This exotic... flying bird. It captivates Ash for a just a moment, so, grabbing himself a Pokeball, he throws his arm back, and throws.

He smirks. "Well, if nothing else, at least I can say I got a moon and a bird, and I got to see a really cool jellyfish." It's not biting, just would make for a fun story.

"You're a chill dude. I vibe with that."

Instead of being a Stantler in headlights, Ash decides to at least enjoy the moment. He felt he needed to hear this story over lunch now, so there was no way he was missing the story, Arceus be damned. Though, when he compliments Kepler and receives an such an odd response, Ash responds with a sheepish smile. "Don't see why not. You have a unique sense of humor." It's genuine, and deadpan. But he puts a pin in it.

Course, Isaac's idea for seafood had him smirking, placing his hand on his chin as he ponders for a moment. He wasn't the most experienced with seafood, and the only thing he could realistically make was curry... but Kepler stating they were in Mauville did raise a point. Ash can cook anywhere, at any time, but. Mauville.

Which meant they could get some of the most bomb ingredients out there, and Ash crosses his arms at the thought. "Hm... so many good seafood dishes... but-" He cranes his head to the side towards Kepler.

"Your call. Bet there's a few good places nearby, if you want to keep it simple." He wasn't going to pressure Kepler into being cooked for. Much as Ashley did want to cook, he wasn't about to force someone else through it. Besides, if all went well, he'd get another chance. "Sushi bars, some seafood restaurants. No pressure." Pulse immediately pulls up a map, and makes a chime next to him, the little Rotom phone even moving towards Kepler to show any and all the locations.

Ash sighs in relief. "Heh. Mars was right to recommend a Rotom." He had no idea he just dropped a Rocket's name to two Rockets. Ash just knew him as Chill Beachguy (Martín del Mar ).

Officer Blythe really was excitable. Repeating the name of his he gave her kept him second-guessing, but at this point? What worth was there in hiding his real name? It was nice to finally just be upfront about it. Her jubilance was infectious. His lips curved further upwards into a toothy grin.

He could get used to that.

She picked up on the job real quick, and that grin widens more, only having Ash raise a brow. Wow. He'd never had someone smile quite like that before towards him. It was just comfortable. Bass already liked her too, and since he was relatively new, as he flutters and claps his wings over and over, he zips, and zoops around Blythe, happy to meet a new person to call friend!

While Juliette would never care to lift a paw towards the boonie dwellers and plebians, Bongo just kept his mischief going, as he, as well as Bass and Ashley, would watch Officer Blythe introduce her own duo. Ash nods, eyeing the purple bouquet that was Donmai, and the little Formantis, absolutely shy. Bongo quickly made his way over to greet the shy mantis, bonking his wooden stick on the ground as a means to greet him.

With a laugh, Ash rubs the back of his head. "Oh, you too huh? Yeah, my apartment is basically the jungle for some of them. My Slowpoke is in time out too for riding the ceiling fan again!" He looks to the side and tries his best to make that sound less ridiculous than it was. "Pretty sure I'll never get my deposit back..." Sheepish smile aside, he kept his smile, as he points behind some brush and shrubbery.

"Cooked and prepped some food before I left the apartment today. For the Pokemon and for us to enjoy." He takes pride in it, as he begins walking to the small blanket with the small basket at the ready. "You like Alolan cuisine? Say, you're not allergic to ginger, onion, coconut, or seaweed, are ya?" Hope not, else he'd have to think of a plan B. A Luau Stew was delicious in its many island-based flavors.

How easy arrogance flutters when taken aback, and Ashley has to adjust himself, as he looks to the beach. "You're on, asshole." He says, though even he wasn't sure about it now. Sure, Reinhardt was strong, Bongo was resilient, but Pulse?

Pulse wasn't a fighter. Guess he should have thought about it before challenging Theo to a match, but he'd make up for it.

As he stands with hands at his side, he pulls out the first of his Pokeballs, spinning the grown Pokeball now, as he throws out his first. Starting strong. Bongo. The chimp beats the sand twice, looks to Ashley and nods. Ash smirks. He'd pull everything out to take Theo's ass down.

Because if he didn't, he was going to hate himself for it. No going back now. "Alright. Let's see your first."

Ash takes that in stride, and enjoys being on the receiving end of teasing for once. He makes a snicker, and a shrug. "Idunno, but you sure as shit wouldn't eat like a king, man." He made a sheepish laugh, rolling his shoulders. He felt like hot shit for a second, and takes the teasing all in good fun.

While they easily avoid the Electrode death trap, all Isaac saw was a Lairon, and while Ash was sure Kiryu might like a sister in arms, it wasn't his goal. In fact, Ash in that case preferred a Larvitar, if only so they could show off to each other when it was fully grown.

This time, however, the goal was almost met. A small little Dedenne, trapped in wires and crying out, as Ash stared with worry. Dedenne, being Electric type, wasn't gonna be hurt, but if Ash stuck his hand in all those exposed wires? Well, he better hope that the current didn't hit his heart.

He turns to Isaac. Ash can't let this little mouse die of starvation in here. He pulls one of his seven balls out, and moves to angle himself to hit the Dedenne.

"I gotchu little one. Don't worry." The ball hops upwards, before hitting the metal floor with a thud, and bouncing to bonk the little rodent on the nose.

It wasn't gonna be Jubilee, but... at the very least, it was one save. "That's one. Let's keep going, yeah?"

Inside of the shot for just a moment, Ashley could see the officer rushing over. A rather energetic wave and wide smile had Ashley smiling at the camera. Now that, that was infectious. It was like capturing a good mood on a shot, and Ash, in a moment of clarity, hits the record button as she rushes over, and with a push of his silver hair out of his face, he flashes his own smile to the actual person.

"Hey." He's short with her, but he decides to abstain from introductions until she did so. Common courtesy was to state one's own name before asking another.

She was right on it too. Officer Blythe here knew what was to be done, or at the very least, noting what they were doing. With a bigger smile now in return, Ash crossed his arms. "Yeah, yeah. This is the spot. Name's-" He stops for a moment. He closes his silver globes to think, as his lip droop to his pondering mind. Yeah... Jayden and Theo already knew he was here, so his cover was blown. He just shrugs.

"Name's Ashley. You can call me Ash, Officer Blythe." His smile returns, not really minding. After all, she seemed sweet and happy-go-lucky enough. Pink hair was a unique case too.

With a thumb set behind him, he gestures to behind the brush. "Job is pretty simple today. Just gotta sit behind the brush and periodically check the camera to make sure it's rolling and not being attacked, damaged, or stolen. Photographer was REALLY clear not to intervene in the shot." His eyes widen, as he decides to click once on the record, stopping the recording he had made preemptively of Blythe's dashing to him.

"This Grookey is Bongo, sleeping in her bed is Juliette, and that little bat by your head is Bass." Bass in particular had these big yellow eyes that looked on with a curious, albeit nervous smile to the Officer. Juliette didn't bother to even wave or say hello. And Bongo?

Well Bongo was mischeviously looking at Ash knowingly. Whatever could he be mischevious about?

There's a battle on the horizon for the soul, and instead of preparing for it, the man decides to go out towards Petalburg to relax. Stress? Nah, that wouldn't help. Now rent, that would at least help, and thankfully he found a nice job to take his mind off the upcoming duel. It was more than he did before, supposedly assisting with an Officer to go take some pictures of the wildlife scenery, and maybe even a video within the woods for a documentary and case study of the woods.

He doesn't mind. If it keeps him from thinking about Theo or Jayden, he'd do it in spades. Especially after the lighthouse scuffle.

The forest this time of year is nice; in the summer, the sun makes being outside unbearable, but the woods are the perfect location to relax. Shade in every inch and spot and enough to ensure that the only concern was the clicking of the Nincada's wings. Getting past that? It was gucci down here in Petalburg.

Wanna know what isn't gucci though? Getting this tripod to set up straight. Not for nothing, Ash is trying his best, but Bongo, his little minion of a chimp, is doing everything he can to adjust it... while Ashley is adjusting it. To the point where, they overadjust. "Bongo. Stop. BONGO." And the chimp chitters and whaps Ashley on the noggin in response. The duo get along just like that.

This was the perfect time too, for his lovely new additions to come out. Setting nearby in a pristine doggie bed, the ever beautiful white with black fur Furfrou lays down like the queen she is, Juliette taking a puppy nap, and meanwhile, flapping his wings happily is the little Noibat that he found outside his apartment the other day. Ash named him Bass.

As Ash moves back from the camera, he looks about. "Okay... should be fine. Lighting is just nice enough. Hopefully the Officer gets here soon so we can start. Still ten minutes early." Ashley wipes his brow, sweat having formed.

He just hoped they provided a distraction.

Ashley can feel himself getting woozier by the step, and as he walks in stride next to Shalin, he remarks. "I could go for a taco right now." Honestly, that would do them both well. Maybe the taco truck Bongo and Watson stole from would still serve them?

Yeah, right.

As they push onwards past a crawl of a tunnel, where Ashley finally made a whistle as they found where they were. "That's handy." So it was a hole in the ceiling... that made life for them both easier! After the duo would get their way up thanks to the Beedrill, they would look about the room. Ashley keeps following Shalin, especially when Kiara sprints, where they see two row of Claydol.

He couldn't believe it. His statue comment was coming up more fruitful than he liked, and Ash felt himself sweat. He had a terrible feeling in the pit of his stomach, but even as he quietly walked to follow, he made sure to stay far enough back, not to enter the dais with her. And just as he figured, his danger sense tingled. "SHAL-" Too late.

Seven came to life, and as Ashley from the outside threw Bongo onto one, the chimp would prepare a small, but very impactful WOOD HAMMER, intent to bop one into the other, as Bullet and him moved to take on another, Bullet using QUICK ATTACK to get behind the Claydol, and Ashley moved to whap that one in the nose.

"We got it out here, just find a way out of there, Shalin!" Bongo found himself flying through the air from a Psybeam, and Ashley felt a Claydol turn to him to do the same to him.

"OH FU-"

And he went flying into a pillar.

The taunt still worked, and Ashley couldn't be any more arrogantly happy to hear that. Even accepting these terms, wild as they are, was a showing of respect. "That right? You clearly care enough to agree." His smugness could be felt for miles, and as he crosses his arms, he nods.

"Couple of weeks from now then. I challenged you, so you name the venue. Just know. I am gonna win." His silver eyes share this overconfidence, as his balled-up fists rose up to provide a handshake. A solidification of their agreement. A gentleman's agreement.

He wasn't moving until Theo shook his hand. At his point, it was out of spite. The moment Theo would budge though? Ashley would let him leave.

Every pound of his heart resonates within, every beat heard in his hear as he got closer, and closer. When Bullet didn't pull it off with Jayden moving, Ashley got every bit closer. If he could get to his destination, he could... could what? What could he do? He needed to not be all talk, he needed to beat Jayden's ass, but trepidation claims the heart, and his soul burned from the idea of doing it all over again.

Leaving him with another wound... how cruel could life be that this had to happen? As he pulled his fist back, his silver eyes attempted to look fierce. And as he pulled back his arm, he froze; not because he wanted to.

No. The Duskull froze him in place, keeping him still as a Golett popped out next, smashing into the ground. Just as intended, Ashley feels himself fall down, as he rolls backwards, wanging his head right into the stonework behind him. It wasn't enough to kill, certainly not, but it was enough to cause double vision.

Shit... he was bleeding.

"Sushi. Bullet." He thinks, but strategy isn't coming easy. Fuck, he really hit his head, he needed to think two steps ahead of Jayden. If he got Ashley off his feet... Ashley would do the same.

"SURF. WHIRLWIND." As Sushi threw his maw wide open, he began to utilize the water from the heavy rain outside to flood through the windows. Meanwhile, Bullet sat herself at a spot just above the water wave to push Jayden off his own feet. If that succeeded, Ashley would at least level the playing field.

Fuck... his ears were ringing. He was fading. Even as he got up, his legs were trembling.

Wasn't that the truth? The moment Isaac even mentioned the taco truck, Ashley's stomach rumbles. "Good thing I brought us some sandwiches. We might be here awhile. Got some water too. You never know." They weren't tacos, they weren't spicy, and they most certainly weren't crunchy, but they were every bit as filling. And Ash made'em. Guy was a bona fide house husband sometimes.

By the time Ashley leans down to peek behind some loose wiring, he sees an Electrode inside, and just as the upside-down Pokeball Pokemon glares, Ash backs up.

"... don't go in there."

Bongo and Conga were curious, but Ash gave the two one look, before finally turning to Watson. He was serious with his expression. Those monsters kill!

"You too, buddy. Not losing Bongo's bestie to a boom." He points at Watson like a babysitter, before turning to Isaac. "Electrode. Should expect them to be here in abundance... no dice. Anything on your end?" He asks, casually questioning. They hadn't gotten too deep in yet.
