He owed a debt to this town for housing him this long. Many of the locals were like family to him when he was lacking his own. He had spent every moment of his life among them and to see them come to harm would be unacceptable. But first he required the skill and expertise to make sure something like that would never happen.[break][break]

"How can I be strong? I would do anything to get the same power that you have."[break][break]

If Noel possessed the same sort of strength as Navy it seemed like anything was possible. No one would be able to get in his way and he could protect the ones he cared for. But was such a thing even possible, he thought, how long would it take to acquire that power?He leans back against the wall, his cold gaze aimed up towards the ceiling, as if he was trying to look past it.[break][break]

Noel took a moment to think, it wasn't often he drank alcohol his knowledge of the craft was limited. He remembered of one particular type that he hoped would be the right thing to say, although his pockets were pretty light and he couldn't afford much if anything. He turns to the bartender and answers her question.[break][break]

"I'd like to have one of your best wine please ma'am. How has your day been treating you?"[break][break]

Noel was a pretty poor judge of character, from the outside he thought of this barkeep as just an ordinary citizen, not knowing of the deep secrets any person could hold. At this point he completely trusted this stranger, having no reason to doubt her. He eagerly awaited his drink as he continued to smile warmly. His hands joined together, resting on the table.[break][break]

"I hope no one has given you any trouble yet."[break][break]

Noel is unresponsive. He sits there in silence, broken and defeated. He doesn't even notice the beverage that's placed right in front of him. Everything that made him him was erased all in one night. This was his moment to shine and just like that it was ruined. He no strength left, no will to fight anymore. He lifted his head up and looks at Navy.[break][break]

"You don't understand... tonight was supposed to be my chance to prove myself and to everyone, yet I've failed. All I've worked for has gone to waste now. Everyone saw how pathetic I looked and now they probably won't look at me the same ever again."[break][break]

Despair had taken root inside Noel. His dreams of making it big in the world crushed like an insect. He reaches down to pick up the somewhat warm tea, fiddling with it in between his hands before taking a sip for himself. The warmth the only thing he can feel at the moment as his brooding eyes face forward.[break][break]

"And worst of all I failed my pokemon, I'm not fit to be a worthy trainer for them..."[break][break]

It was a long day for Noel, spending most of his day in the city to restock on his supplies. He decided he wanted to unwind tonight, but also gather information. And what better place to hear gossip than a local bar. There were a few to choose from but he settled on one that seemed to be a good fit for him. Wearing his pokeballs on his belt for he could never know when trouble might start, he walks inside and takes a look around, not too many people were occupying the space which was perfect for him, he liked secluded areas more.[break][break]

The bar had a classic flair to it that Noel enjoyed, more simple and refined. He takes a seat at one of the stools in front, surveying all the different drinks and meeting eyes with the bartender. He gives her a gentle smile and a soft wave of the hand. Noel then calls out to her for a simple request.[break][break]

"Hello miss, I was hoping you could pour me a drink for tonight."[break][break]

After a long day of traveling into the great wide world, Noel stops at the beach of Slateport city in order to unwind. He sits on the sandy terrain with his pokemon by his side. All taking in the moment with their trainer, bathing in the sun in this rare moment of respite. Noel was deep in thought on what the next course of action was, should he stay in the city for longer, or should he get back to his journey after a night's rest? His train of thought was interrupted when a brightly colored Shinx appeared, curiously coming up to the bunch.[break][break]

"Hmm? Where did you come from little guy?"[break][break]

He brings a hand to gently pat at the small creature. Making sure not to be too rough and disturb it as his hand glides through its fur. His Eevee then slowly approaches the Shinx, nuzzling its head against the stranger as a sign of welcoming. It was then Noel turns around to see Lam's predicament. He stands up and begins to walk towards the commotion with all his pokemon following, including the newly met Shinx. He stops just brief of Lam and asks.[break][break]

"Do you need any help there friend?"[break][break]

Noel reflects on his actions. Should he really be taking the help of the one who defeated him so easily? He had never felt such a sickening shame before, it was eating at him in his very core. He decided to swallow it all in for the sake of his pokemon. For without help Noel's stubbornness would only make it worse.[break][break]

"Fine... but don't think this makes us buddies..."[break][break]

Noel recalls each of his pokemon, all battered and bruised or even worse from the onslaught they had all received. He places a hand onto his knee to push himself up, using every ounce of strength left in his body to steady himself back on his feet. He begins to walk towards Navy and the Pokemon Center, where due rest would be had.[break][break]

Noel had no choice but to take the full force of the blackened sandstorm against his body with nothing to defend himself. It was as if sharp knives were cutting away slowly at his body, blood trickling down from various gashes. His Druddigon now shivering in fear from the almighty presence of a foe much larger than it. Noel quickly tries to come up with a solution for a way to get out but nothing was coming to fruition. He then recalls both of his pokemon back into their balls, realizing that if they were out for any longer that would mean the end for both of them.[break][break]

"Stop!... I... I yield..."[break][break]

It was hard to breathe. It took all of his might to even utter those words. And now he was at the mercy of the Rocket underboss, which he was sure he wouldn't get out unharmed. He awaited whatever punishment the victor decided upon.[break][break]

So many thoughts were racing throughout Noel's now fractured mind. After a moment of silence, he gives back a hot-headed reply.[break][break]

"I would stay behind and fight. There's no way I would let anyone take my home away from me or its people even if I had to hold them off myself."[break][break]

His judgment was clouded by the devastating battle he had just taken part in, although it was more of a one sided slaughter. This defeat had destroyed his ego of being the strongest. For now he knew how dangerous the outside world really was. He carefully held the fainted and injured Rowlet in his arms. Noel couldn't fight back anymore, all his strength had left him after seeing his beloved pokemon lose to a single beast.[break][break]

"But it doesn't matter... what good am I if I can't even defeat one person? There's no way for me get a hold of power like that while I'm stuck out here..."[break][break]

"My name is Noel... Noel Parker. Its good meeting you as well Miss Desiree. What brings you out here in these waters? Are you also fishing for supplies like I am?"[break][break]

He would help put about half of the fish he had caught into the cooler Desiree provided. Giving the heftier, meatier fish to her as a sign of goodwill but one that no one would ever notice. Afterwards he would let loose the rest of his pokemon onto the now connected boats. The small Eevee and Rowlet appearing onboard while the hasty Frogadier enters into the water, its more suitable habitat. [break][break]

"These are the rest of my companions, they've been with me for as long as I can remember and I cherish each day with them."[break][break]

He kneels down to pet the curiosity filled Eevee, it always wanting to explore and see new sights on their journey. While Rowlet scurries behind Noel, afraid of anything unknown to it and quick to hide from any social meeting. Frogadier swims all throughout the ocean, finally given the chance to freely stretch its legs. And finally Druddigon rests itself against the raft it had previously been pushing, spending its time in leisure and calmness.[break][break]

Noel stared wide-eyed at the collision that was happening in the air. He couldn't believe what he was seeing, he thought that it wasn't possible for one pokemon to be able to have this much power. He quickly gets a hold of himself and looks at his Rowlet, plummeting towards the ground. He shouts "No!" and begins rushing into the battlefield, hoping to catch it in time from hitting against the ground. But he was too late, by the time he was halfway there the small and wounded Rowlet had already hit the ground with a blow so fierce, sand blasted around them. Noel finally reaches his companion and kneels down to hold it in his arms, looking all over it dazed and confused on what to do. All while the gargantuan Garchomp towered over the both of them, a presence so fierce it would stop anybody in their tracks. Noel then looks over to Navy in fury, a hatred burning in his eyes.[break][break]

"You!... This isn't over yet! We can still fight! Don't think you've won with this!"[break][break]

The words felt hollow from his own mouth, inside he was shaking with fear, he couldn't afford to lose anyone of his pokemon, it would just break his heart and leave him in despair. The rest of his pokemon all stared back and forth between their owner and the Garchomp, unsure of what to do without any orders and with doubt in their minds. They all knew this was a hopeless battle at this point.[break][break]

"Hmm? Who could that be?"[break][break]

Noel turns around to face the incredibly pink and energetic girl. Noticing its majestic Altaria, a pokemon that seemed very fitting for its trainer. He beckons Druddigon over with a hand motion, who had just finished piling up a load of fish onto their wooden raft, and began to push it towards Desiree's own. Stopping it right next to the young lady's and now awaiting for what's to come.[break][break]

"Thank you for the kind proposition miss, but we've already gotten enough for tonight, however I wouldn't mind sharing some of what we've caught if you'd like. I'm sure this is way more than we needed."[break][break]

He notices the cigarette burning in the young lady's mouth. It was not to his liking but to each their own he thought. He was not one to judge someone based on minor inconveniences or vices. For all he knew she could be a kind-hearted girl with a terrible habit. Once the smoky fragrance reached his nose he let out a soft cough but managed to keep the rest of it suppressed. He didn't want to seem rude to the new stranger.[break][break]

Having just traveled far towards Slateport, Noel to stops by a fishing store that also was accompanied with a pond. He wanted to relax his mind and body after a long day of walking and decided fishing was the best activity for it. He heads inside and begins perusing the store. Noting how empty it was minus himself and the person attending the shop. He picks up some fishing rods, examining them before putting them down. He then eyes a shelf with bait for sale and contemplates which he should get.[break][break]

"Hmm... is this the right one I need?"[break][break]

He clearly does not know what he requires for the fish that are local to the area. He begins fumbling around with the merchandise and almost drops one of the bait bags but catching it just in time. He lets out a sigh of relief as he cannot afford to mess around and pay for any extra costs he can avoid. Stubborn as he is, he refuses to ask for any help and is constantly reconsidering what to purchase in his head.[break][break]

Arriving at the large gated entrance to a rather vast farm, Noel stops for a moment and brings out a piece of paper, an ad requesting help from the local farmhands for the protection of their livestock, in particular their Wooloo, who were the target of frequent break ins that caused the loss of quite a few. He glances back and forth between the paper and the large sign above the gate, making sure he's at the right location.[break][break]

"Hmm... Yeah this should be the place..."[break][break]

He wasn't sure if it would be right to just walk right in or if someone would come out to assist him. And so he patiently waits at the gate, unsure of any way to signal anyone for assistance in completing the job. He brings out his duffel bag and places it onto the ground, hunching over it and opening the bag. It is filled with all his supplies for tonight as he was sure he would need to spend at least one night here. [break][break]
