The mention of ROCKET made GIDEON GRAVES scowl. It was an expression and sentiment that he would normally hide from his students, but it was something the professor found difficult considering the organization’s wounds were still fresh on his body. His entire body ached in pain, reminding him of his deep-seated resentment.[break][break]

“I will be.” He assured, though was glad to pivot the conversation back to the PARADOX phenomenon. [break][break]

“Thank you, Naomi. Your efforts and flexibility are always appreciated.” And, for now, those words were genuine. It would be quite some time before GIDEON GRAVES was privy to her ROCKET affiliation.[break][break]

So the ominous red eyes weren’t a figment of his fear-addled imagination. Neffatari Nzingha was equally as unnerved by the suffocating quality of the Distortion World.[break][break]

“Let’s.” Gideon replied on an apprehensive breath, springing to his feet to quickly stride back toward the jeep. [break][break]

He wasted no time in storing his samples in the back compartment – appropriately, so as not to cause injury or jeopardize their quality. Even slightly panicked, the professor was ever-dutiful when it came to his work.[break][break]

With Nenet safely in the passenger seat, he’d take the wheel again and drive them back to safety. Only after darkness bloomed into light did GIDEON GRAVES speak again. When he did, it was after a deep exhale, as if he was releasing all of his pent-up anxieties.[break][break]

“Great question – one that I think is better answered by seeing rather than describing." Gideon explained, pushing his chair away from the edge of his desk.[break][break]

“Let’s walk and talk.” The professor stood and waved an arm for Yuina to follow. “I already have a space in mind. You can look for yourself and share your thoughts with me.”[break][break]

As they strolled through the corridors of the museum, the two continued to chat about the prospects of Yuina Higashi’s exhibit and the marvels of ancient Sinnoh.[break][break]

“As far as what’s already available here, we’ve had several Poké Balls donated recently that have been dated to that era. Textiles as well, illustrations, copies of tomes. You’re welcome to peruse the collections whenever you wish.” Their collections was a huge complex on the basement level of the museum where all artifacts not on exhibit were stored.[break][break]

Soon enough, GIDEON GRAVES was gesturing for Yuina to enter a sizable hall. Though it currently housed an exhibit on the ecology of Pt. Myre, renovations could make it anything the young woman dreamed of. The sky was the limit.[break][break]

“In here.” Gideon called back, his attention snapping from the view outside his window and to the doorframe of his old bedroom. Within moments Gunner Graves appeared, stopping short from entering.[break][break]

GIDEON GRAVES spent some time hiking the intended site. It was a rather wooded area, though scrubby, with more juniper and ash trees than anything else. Because of this it took some time, but eventually the professor found a suitable spot to begin his spoil studies. More open than the surrounding area and perfect for the dig ahead.[break][break]

From his satchel he retrieved a Poké Ball and released the Paradox Pokémon inside.[break][break]

“I’ll need some help from you.” With its incredible strength the GREAT TUSK would be an excellent excavator. It began its work with a HEADLONG RUSH into the soil.[break][break]

Unfortunately, the GREAT TUSK’s appearance startled a flock of nearby FLETCHLING, causing them to alight from a cedar tree to Gideon’s right. Noticing this, the professor lobbed a wayward Safari Ball, just to see if he’d get lucky.

It was heartening to see a smile on the younger man’s face – something GIDEON GRAVES only realized after he watched it fall.[break][break]

Crouched in the branches of a nearby tree was a curious RIOLU. It looked more interested than worried, possibly due to it's inherent proclivity for the martial arts. It might have even sensed that GIDEON GRAVES's aura was not unkind. [break][break]

The ROTOM bobbed in understanding before floating over the PARALYZE the Emanation Pokémon.

The SEEDOT evidently approved of GIDEON GRAVES's suggestion. A burst of light signaled its capture, causing Scribe the ROTOM to bob in the air in a congratulatory manner. [break][break]

From where he knelt the professor could see a SHIELDON a ways away. It was grazing on the aforementioned grasses, not a care in the world or a sense of self-preservation, apparently.[break][break]

Many of the expected species were within the quadrat: Schizachyrium scoparium, Bouteloua curipendula, Sorghastrum nutans. Something new emerged from the clumps of grasses, however, in the form of a SEEDOT.[break][break]

It was of a typical color for the species, unlike the SEEDOT from GIDEON GRAVES's last visit. Still, he appreciated the Pokémon for what it was — which was curious, in this instance.[break][break]

"It wouldn't hurt to collect a few representative Pokémon from this area," The professor mused, offering a Safari Ball for the SEEDOT to inspect.[break][break]

"How about it?"

The YAMASK balked after being hit by the disorienting wave of energy. It continued to punch the air, its aim erratic. This gave Gideon's ROTOM time to HEX it, ending with the professor lobbing a Safari Ball its way.[break][break]

The capsule shuddered several times, but eventually dinged!, signaling the Ghost-type's capture.

Better, GIDEON GRAVES admitted to himself as Yuina Higashi shook off her nerves and delved into explaining her stance.[break][break]

Bringing a thoughtful finger to his lips, the museum director listened intently, nodding his head in encouragement for her to continue where appropriate. When she'd spoken her piece he'd then shift in his chair, the leather creaking under his weight. [break][break]

"We'll conduct interviews for your team as soon as you settle in. It will be composed of established researchers as well as student interns from Slateport University." He knew several undergraduate and graduate students interested in the positions already.[break][break]

"Your Pokémon are a welcome addition, of course. The public always enjoys learning more when they're doing things up close and personal."[break][break]

With that, he opened the floor for her to tie up any remaining thoughts or inquiries.[break][break]
