After a long day of training, Finn strolled along the wild stretches beyond Flying Sword School, the border where sprinklings of trees blended gradually into the dense Fortree woods. Wearing an easy green kimono, knotted loosely around his waist, Finn relished the cool fresh air that washed away the strain of swordplay. It was honest, good work, but it was also tiring. He appreciated these little walks and how they soothed his spirit.

As Finn struggled against the sticky bands that strapped him to his chair, Alcremie frosting dripped down his face. Oh, damn. This was good. 

But snap back to reality - the thieving bastard was zooming off with Finn's bag and his shopping!

Combining Ayana's strength with his own, Finn burst out from the Spider Web before it congealed any further. He shook off stray threads and a sugar petal as Ayana pulled him out onto the street, the thief still within eye's reach. 

"You know, a Gengar-run cafe could really take off." 

From the way Ayana reacted so sharply, and how she calmly but decisively told Finn that she'd make sure he got his things back, the young swordsman wondered if there was more to her than she let on. People didn't just acquire this degree of rugged confidence. You had to be forged in the heat of experience. Finn nodded briskly in response. He respected her already. He would typically have pursued the thief alone, but he felt good about accepting Ayana's partnership. 

"Hang on!" Finn tore out a Pokeball from inside his jacket and released Beidou, his Kirlia. Beidou's red horns quivered, picking up the intensity of the moment, and his own stance shifted to match it. "Bring us to the junction we bought the shoes at!" Beidou nodded firmly and wrapped the three of them in a radiant purple aura, and they vanished! Beidou used Teleport! 

Shoppers screamed and dispersed as Finn, Ayana and Beidou exploded onto the junction - right as the thief zoomed past on his scooter. "Hey! Stop there, you Grimerfist!" Finn shouted, dashing after them like a Jolteon.

A parasol lady and her Roselia; a preschooler tugging along a cloud of pastel balloons; a psychic shuffling tarot cards. Finn rested his chin on his hand, stirring his Mega Punch Latte as his eyes drifted across the crowd lazily. You see all kinds in cities as big as Mauville.

Some sounds reeled Finn's focus back into the cafe - shuffling steps and a soft clinking of steel on porcelain. Curious, he turned around to meet the young lady from the counter smiling cheerfully, a plate of creamy cake in hand. Finn was about to tell her she'd made a mistake when she introduced herself with bouncy enthusiasm, telling him she'd brought him the cake for free.

Finn usually wore his face with a stoic weight, but everyone brightens up with the offer of free cake. Caught off guard by this kind gesture, Finn couldn't help but return Ayana's cheerfulness by breaking into a grin. "Please, let me pay for this," he offered, reaching into his duffel bag for his wallet. He'd never take anything for free.

"No, please - you have a beautiful cafe, and I'd love to support you. This cake looks deli-OOF!"

Finn's world tossed itself around. Someone on some kind of speedy mount sped past the open window, snagging Finn's wallet and bags before spraying him with something gummy and rapidly stiffening. Now, Finn's hand was empty, his face was streaked with Alcremie frosting, and he was stuck to his chair with Spider Web.

Finn's carefree, chirpy grin plunged and darkened way beyond his usual mien; he now wore the decisive wrath of a fighter.

"Dammit!" Finn bulged against the nasty threads binding him. His brows blazed and his eyes spat daggers at the thief zooming down the little road.

Note: I am very okay with Finn and his Pokemon getting knocked about as long as they don't lose limbs or die!

Finn didn't spend all his time darting through the Fortree woods. On occasion, he liked to visit some of the bigger cities. And on these occasions, Finn cleaned up well.

And what was the reason for his visit?

Shopping.

Well, under the cover reason of conducting a swordfighting workshop for a club in Mauville City.

Since Finn always played the part of the tough and gruff village chief, few people might have guessed that he was an avid shopper. There were hints of it in almost unseen ways: his clothes, albeit basic, fit him like a line cleanly drawn; his shoes always matched his watch. Not things you see when he's in training garb, but in the moments he darts out of life in Flying Sword School.

"One Mega Punch Latte, please."

Finn collected his drink with a muted smile and settled by the window, where he had set his bags by the side - a grey duffel bag and two pristine paper carriers stamped with the bright blue Mauville Department Store logo. He enjoyed the quiet solitude of people watching.

Finn's hearing is sharp. In his training, he learned to listen not just with his ears, but with every inch of his senses. Air brimmed over his skin, and a ruffle across the back of his neck told him that something big and fierce had emerged.

Walking through the underpass entailed this risk. But Finn would be lying if he said he wasn't hoping something like this would happen. 

Leaning back slightly, trying his best not to make a sound, Finn tilted his gaze over his shoulder and saw a Primeape meandering across the grass. Finn's eyes popped. He's heard so much about the undefeatable fighting spirit of such a creature and had even faced up against a few himself. He would love the opportunity to add one to his team. 

"Get up close quietly and weaken him. He's a fighting type, so you know what to do. Stay sharp!" Finn whispered, measured yet undeniably excited, into the button of his Kirlia's Pokeball. And then, hoping the click of its opening wouldn't startle the Primeape, released Beidou, named after the brilliance of the big dipper. Beidou took form briefly, did a sharp curtsy and then vanished. 

And now, turning back to the wild creature, Finn watched his partner take the field. Beidou Teleported behind a tree, stuck out his horns and used Draining Kiss! A candy pink lip-shaped energy blast flew out like a rogue neon sign, exploding in pink sparks as it blew the monkey off its feet. Things got heated - Primeape flipped a switch, and the veins on his head begin bulging as it flings its claws out with Scratch!

Beidou falls backwards, his chest red with scratch marks, but he's no pushover himself. Exploiting their close proximity, Beidou throws himself at Primeape, planting another Draining Kiss right on his face, sucking up some good sweet energy before blasting him with a Hypnosis right into his skull!

"That's the way, Beidou!" Finn exclaims. Here goes nothing! Finn throws a Pokeball at his target, hoping sleep and sweetness will weaken him enough for the ball.

Finn enjoyed walking below the cycling path. Like a concrete cloud blocking out the sun, the broad path cast a shadow over the thick tall grass, and it reminded Finn of the way Fortree's huge canopy shielded the undergrowth from the light too. Moreover, it gave Finn the space and time to think. Out of the way of bikers who prowled the sunlit surface for people to accost in battle, Finn could catch a breath, look at the sea crashing slowly against the shore of the route. Sighing, Finn sat down on the spot, folding his legs and sitting down to face the ebbing water. He smelled the salt and the damp grass. He was alone. Everything was good.

INFORMATION

Finnegan is a swordsman in every sense of the word. He can feel the world through his two blades - pick up the breeze on their edges, caress as gently as a lover's lips, and bring a foe to their knees. He's currently the chief swordsman at Flying Sword School in Fortree, where the locals know him as their tough, stern but totally reliable teacher and village chief who rewards his most earnest students with a rare smile.

RELATIONSHIPS

Friends
Finnegan bonds through action and companionship; he'd pick up his satchel and travel with you if he considers you a friend. Absolutely keeps his emotions to himself. A man of the sword, he values people who work hard and are disciplined. Despite his rough exterior, he's a good teacher who gives measured, comforting feedback. Think McGonagall vibes but more gruff and dirty.

Enemies
Finnegan hates the Jets - a pugilistic clan with whom the Yangs have a historical feud. On a less hostile note, he disdains people who lack the fortitude to commit to things, and people with weak commands over their minds.

Romantic
Finnegan is bi but mostly slants towards men. He's too caught up with being the new Yang patriarch to date... or so he thinks. As his clan's patriarch and school chief, he has a lot to live up to, including always appearing strong (read: masc and straight) in front of the entire community. So, he has never been able to settle down with a partner in his area because he doesn't have that license to be emotionally vulnerable, and to deviate from the image of a masculine lead figure. He has a few lady friends that he meets whenever he has needs, but while these rendezvous keep his urges satiated, he has never felt taken care of.

All this to say, yes let's chat about potential awkward buddy bromances that may eventually blossom into something more!
