They watched silently as Cillian fiddled with the phone, probably picking up on the same things they had. A careless person who was probably not involved in anything the boss had been doing.

Of course, there was a slim chance he was. Carelessness and stupidity went hand in hand. If the guy was stupid enough, he could've been manipulated into helping. But then again, the boss didn't seem nearly that cunning. A more cunning person wouldn't have admitted right off the bat that he kept the money from Team Rocket on purpose.

A more cunning person would've made up some lie, like they'd been robbed. No, the boss seemed stupid. Not really thinking things through. It was with these thoughts that they highly doubted the involvement of the employee.

Not unless someone else was pulling the strings. But they also found that hard to believe, especially considering the type of person the boss was. He might throw his weight around and bark out orders, but they didn't think him the type to take suggestions himself.

A camera click pulled them out of their thoughts.

It didn't take a genius to realize the underboss had taken a picture of them. Collateral in case they tried to betray Team Rocket, they guessed. Or to show his fellow higher-ups that they have what it takes.

Even though they knew what that implied, they couldn't help but respect the underboss more for it.

Now that was a way to make sure someone stayed loyal. Or pay the price for their own stupidity.

As the underboss confirmed they were in, they nodded.

Having nothing better to do today, they had decided to spend most of the day training their Beheeyem. But that was earlier. Now they were relaxing. That was until they realized it was quiet, a little too quiet.

Opening one eye, they turned their head to see that Minerva was no longer there. Poseidon was, but he seemed to have had the same idea as Sage and appeared to be sleeping.

After making sure Minerva really wasn't anywhere to be found, they swung their legs over the side of the bed and picked up their mask from the floor where they had thrown it when they had flopped down on their bed.

After making sure the mask was secure, they opened their door and poked their head out of their room. Not spotting the Beheeyem, they tried calling out to her through the telepathic link they shared, but to no avail.

'Probably caught up exploring,' they thought with a sigh.

With another sigh, they left their room, quietly closing the door behind them. Their footsteps were light as they went through the base looking for the Beheeyem. Minerva wasn't really a troublemaker, but she was very curious, so there was no telling what had caught her interest this time.

After a bit of searching, they finally found her near the baths. They turned their head towards the baths and sighed.

"Why did you come here?" they asked, their voice low, resisting the urge to sigh.

They weren't sure what had her so interested, but as she drifted closer towards the baths, they grabbed hold of her. "You can't go in there, they're closed for cleaning," they pointed out.

She pulled away with enough force to unbalance them just as someone came through the door. Their eyes widened slightly, and they quickly shifted their weight to the side to avoid falling into the person, leaving them sprawled on the ground.

They grumbled under their breath and sent a glare towards Minerva, not that anyone would be able to see that with a mask covering the top half of their face.

"Just so you know, I'm blaming you," Sage told the psychic-type Pokemon.

Once that was said, they would get up and turn towards the other teen. "Sorry about that. I'm afraid Minerva here decided to take advantage of me resting to do a bit of exploring. She probably heard you in there and was curious."[break] Asher Baran

It has been a while since they had worked with Mint, but they were ready for it. Ready to prove themselves to the beast. Something they hadn't had the opportunity to do last time. An opportunity they had wanted to have since finding out he was a beast, making him one of the higher-ups in Team Rocket.

Reaching the meeting spot undetected didn't take long. And upon closer inspection, they realized they were the first to arrive. Something that didn't really surprise them. They had left a little early, after all, not wanting to risk the chance of being late.

Looking at their watch, they realized that maybe they had left a little too early. They still had around half an hour until they were supposed to meet up.

It gave them a bit of time to go over what was expected of them, as well as make sure they had everything they needed. A good thing, since they liked to be fully prepared.

First, though, they needed to stay hidden in case anyone not from Team Rocket just happened to wander up.

A few minutes later, they found themselves a little way up a tree, crouched down to avoid anyone who walked up and spotted them. Due to not wanting to be seen, they kept their movements limited as they checked through everything.

They seemed to have everything.

After checking that they had everything, they slowly lifted their head to see if Mint was coming. The sound of footsteps reached them, and they waited with bated breath to see if it was Mint.

If it was Mint, they would drop from branch to branch until they reached the bottom to meet up with the beast.[break] mint frost

It seemed that they had done the right thing. With no instructions, they hadn't exactly known what was expected of them. It was a relief to them that they weren't expected to kill the target. Sure, they had plans to kill their parents one day, but it was something they needed to work themselves up to.

"Sorry, I didn't want to risk the boss seeing it. One can never be sure if a person will act like they usually do if they know they're on camera," they pointed out, resisting the urge to shrug. They had been doing that a lot lately.

The mention of a phone got them thinking about the employee they had tied up in the supply closet. They supposed someone should go check on him to make sure he was okay. After all, they had tied him up and gagged him.

"That's not my phone though, I swiped it off the employee I tied up in the supply closet. He almost caught me if it wasn't for the fact that he was carrying out boxes. He would've spotted me for sure," he admitted, his tone casual as if they were just discussing the weather and not the fact that he had tied someone up in a closet.[break] Cillian Quinn

Their first instincts had been right. The guy sucked. Probably to use to throwing his weight around and making others fight his battles for him. The guy had no fighting abilities whatsoever. In fact the added benefit of Haze hadn’t been necessary since they were sure they would’ve been able to fight the guy with their eyes closed.

Having dodged his initial attack they went for their own attack. Which involved them hooking their legs out from under them and sending him to the ground. From the sound it sounded like his head hit the ground, but after checking his vitals he realized he was still alive just knocked out with possibility of him having a concussion.

They had just got done checking the targets vitals when the underboss made his appearance. “He’s alive but knocked out. May have a concussion, he knocked his head a bit hard,” he explained not seeming the least bit concerned about the possibility of him having a concussion.

Remembering the phone they ducked into the side room to retrieve it stopping the recording in the process. At the point of them stepping back into the room the Haze had begun to fade so he was able to navigate through it until he reached the underbosses side.

“I recorded the conversation. Unsure if you want to anything to him on your own but he can’t claim that he misplaced the money or some nonsense,” they said holding the phone out towards him. He was unsure if that would be the case but he was sure if it was they guy would be more prone to be intimidated by Gavin than him and would perhaps try and weasel out of trouble. No he knew he definitely would try and weasel out of trouble.

He had been around to many people like the business boss to not know the personality type. He had just said those things to him for no reason after all. He knew saying those things would get under his skin and that he would have to defend himself against an attack. He had even countered for him calling for back something that had failed considering the fact he had a rotom that had allowed for him to call for help.[break] Cillian Quinn

"You sure? Because you sure are getting defensive for someone who says I don't know what I'm talking about. And let's not forget you called for help. Hoping to fight dirty by ganging up on someone," they said with mock hurt, though if the boss was really paying attention, he might catch an undercurrent of sarcasm under their tone.

Getting him all riled up had been easy. A lot easier than they had thought it would be. Hah, had they hurt his ego or something? That's what it seemed like to them.

Wondering how far they could push it, they continued. Hopefully, he would get so mad he would mess up. Anger did tend to cloud a person's judgment. Made it so they didn't think things through.

"Ah yes, I'm sure those people you mentioned will be dealt with accordingly as well, if they ever make the foolish decision of opposing us anyway. The whole talk of owning a business before I was even born won't work on me. If that business was that important, you could've moved your business elsewhere, but considering that would've involved money, you chose to stay. You knew the rules when you decided to stay. Now anything that happens to you will be due to your own foolishness."

They might've continued saying more, but the targets Rotom made an appearance. As the lights went out, they remained silent. From the sounds outside, they could tell that Gavin had engaged in battle with the target's backup.

'So much for a surprise attack,' he mused to themself. The power outage stunt had caused the target the element of surprise. Not only that... but Sage fought exceedingly well in the dark. But could the same be said about the target?

One thing that most might not know was that he was always aware of his surroundings and that he thought on his feet. Meaning he was always prepared for any type of battle. Which is why he knew the target was the type to attack when he thought the opponent had let their guard down.

They were also aware that, in order not to get distracted, the target would keep his focus on them. So he wouldn't notice the Crobat appear outside the window behind the him. But Sage would and would tap their fingers against their leg. Which was some kind of signal, but to the boss, he would probably simply think they were bored, not knowing them that well.

Sensing the older male ready for an attack, they would suddenly pivot to face the older male's attack on. Though they kept his footing light in order to dodge if they had to, and the way they held their arms suggested they knew how to deflect attacks.

Unknown to the target, while he focused on attacking Sage, Nightwing would release a black cloud and use the wind from his wings to cause the Haze to seep through the cracks of the window into the room. The boss probably wouldn't notice until he realized that his vision was limited even more than it should be.[break] Cillian Quinn

They debated telling him that they had trusted one member to know what they looked like. Cillian Quinn knew what they looked like. In the end, they decided it didn't really matter. That, and they weren't sure if announcing that a superior knew somewhat of their identity and had promised to keep it secret would reflect well on the older male. They didn't really want to cause trouble for the underboss if they could help it. They didn't see themselves as good by any means, but that didn't mean they were an asshole.

"I'll burn that bridge when I get to it," they finally said. There was nothing to be done about it now. They had made their decision and they would stick with it.

As they got started, they would keep an ear out for Kouji in case he wanted to talk some more. "Hey Poseidon, give me some water over here," they would call out to the Greninja, moving aside so he could use Water Pulse in the area they were cleaning to make it easier to clean.

It was while Poseidon was doing that, that Kouji would speak up once more. They would regard the male as they debated how much to tell him. It wouldn't hurt to tell him a bit. Just a bit though.

They could easily tell that they had caught her off guard. Not that she tried to hide it. Instead of bringing attention to it, they had just inquired about the length of time they had been waiting. Luckily for them, the woman hadn’t been waiting long. They hated making people wait, something that was partly due to their upbringing. After all, their parents had been big on punctuality.

As she knocked in a certain rhythm, they took the chance to look around. Not very many people were out and about. It was something they had noticed on the way here. They hadn’t had to avoid as many people as they usually did. They supposed that meant most people were at work.

Their looking around didn’t take long, and by the time the door opened, they had already turned forwards once more. Slipping into the room, they immediately took note of the boxes, making sure to note how many there were. Upon doing that, they would mentally judge if they could move all the boxes in one go or if it would take more than one trip. While they weren’t as good at math as some people, they weren’t terrible at it, so some mental calculations weren’t really that hard.

Letting Marguerite deal with the clerk, they didn’t tune back in until after he had left. They looked over the boxes themselves, giving the one Marguerite was looking at a cursory glance. “I don’t have much use for Aron and Diglett, neither are very ninja-like,” they said with a shrug. “Zubat… well, I already have a Crobat that I use as a ride Pokémon, and I don’t do doubles. I’m guessing the better Pokémon will be in the last few boxes we load up.”

They were sure she was considering swiping one, but if they were being honest with themselves, they were too picky about the Pokémon they acquired. Pokémon trafficking was something they had never done before. Theft had been more their speed, along with getting into places they didn't belong, like their dad's office. They didn't break in for any reason other than being bored.

However, they supposed the mission wasn't too different from what they were used to. According to the briefing, they were supposed to move Pokémon with someone named Marguerite without drawing attention to themselves. This was something they could definitely handle, considering their proficiency in stealth.

Stealth had always been their forte, and they often relied on it when leaving the base. They had even used it to get to the base, blending into the shadows to move from the base to the meeting place without being detected. Their mask, which they always wore, tended to attract attention if they didn't.

Arriving at the meeting place, they were surprised to find that they weren't the first ones there. "I hope you weren't waiting too long," they said to her once they were close enough to speak in a lowered volume.[break] Marguerite

As they looked at the phone they had swiped, they realized that there was no security to prevent unauthorized access to the device. They searched through the phone until they found what they were looking for, and then they hit the record button. They discreetly hid the phone behind an object before returning to the main office, just before the power went out.

Initially, they found some amusement in the target's first reaction, but that amusement quickly faded as the man's Rotom activated the phone enough to send for help. "I should be surprised that you're a coward, but I'm not," they said, their voice concealing the anger they felt inside. "You can't even attempt to solve the problem on your own. Instead, you just throw your weight around."

If they were being honest with themselves, they also felt bitter and slightly offended. However, they knew it was silly to feel that way since they didn't really know the older man. But there was something about him that reminded them of their parents.

Upon hearing the target's comment, they rolled their eyes, even though the other person couldn't see it. "Listen up, asshole. You should have escaped when you had the chance. All those who fled when Team Rocket first targeted Sootopolis, you should have joined them, but you didn't. By staying, you pledged your allegiance to Team Rocket," they said, their voice calm but cold.

Before the target could respond, they continued speaking. "It's not really about Team Rocket, is it? You just don't want to pay because you're stingy. I'm not stupid; I know how it works. The wealthy stay wealthy by keeping the money to themselves, and that's why you don't want to pay up."

They understood how it worked. Their own parents had refused to pay their debts, and as a result, people had come looking for them, and they had suffered the consequences of their parents' mistakes. They wouldn't allow something like that to happen again.

Although they appeared fixated on the target, they were actually paying attention to their surroundings. They didn't know who the target had called, but they had imagined what the person might be like in their mind.

Most likely, the person wouldn't have guns, as that would attract too much attention, and something told them that the guy didn't want that. This also ruled out a sword, crossbow, and bow and arrow. All of those would draw too much attention. If they had to guess, they would assume that the person might have knives as weapons.

If not, then it would come down to hand-to-hand combat. They had actually learned martial arts, but only because their parents had wanted their children to appear more impressive. Essentially, it was just something for their parents to show off to other wealthy parents.[break] Cillian Quinn
