"It does, and yet..." Adrian is interrupted by the pokemon Lunatone and Misdreavus, having sighted their auras well before they placed themselves in their range of visibility. "It's one of my favorite things to do."

Collecting was his obsession of his dating back years.

Pokemon, badges, rare objects... He wanted them all and more. And it wasn't by happenstance that many of them directly offered, or at least signified, power and prestige.

It was all connected to one overarching motive.

"Smoking a little dope always helps, too."

Not that he smoked around strangers so liberally.

Chingling and Chimecho have flocked to the mountain, gathering to offer up their song as winter overtakes the mountain. At its peak frost begins to fall, and all is quiet save for the whistling winds. It's as eerie as it is peaceful.

Adrian is there as he usually is, clad in leathers and furs to repel the unseasonable chill.

First he sends out a Sneasel, which unfortunately succumbs to a power gem attack. It reminds him of Miser. The stygian orb is mystifying as it is valuable. As a collector, this is not something he can pass up lightly.

A Crawdaunt is next, brutish by nature, and it nearly separates the orb from the Spoink. It is able to scuttle about deceptively fast, and once it manages to land a hit, Spoink cannot escape its grasp. Unable to move, its heartbeat begins to slow. A pokeball spares it this fate.

A nondistinctive postcard is received by Father Winter, and on it is a photograph of Hoenn as observed from a satellite in perigee. Even reduced to a flat, two-dimensional representation Hoenn is more than a tholus amidst a sea of undae. On the reverse side is a letter meant for the big man himself, sent by an anonymous citizen.
Father Winter,
My hope is that this letter finds you well. I would not ask much of you, but I will express one of my only dreams for Hoenn. While many seek out what illusions or distractions offer them comforts, I simply wish for a return to normalcy. For a semblance of peace in our time.

Hoenn has endured more than can be said on one postcard; has suffered losses and an overarching obliquity. Many have been driven into desperation by these events, resorting to unscrupulous means. The Hoenn of today is not the Hoenn of yesteryear; we are lost.

We are living in a nightmare; who am I to judge how others cope with that?

Would that we could go back... If only it were that simple.

Its head almost looks like the tab for an ornament... Watching the goofy guru of martial arts doing its thing gave him this impression. And seeing as he already owned one, well, he needn't bother it. Though he was trying to figure out what sort of ornament it resembled most... maybe the silhouette of an angel, since it had roughly a bell bottom shape to it. But it was a stretch...

Most campers slither into sleeping bags underneath the stars weald above, or slink behind the cover of a tent for added peace of mind. The charred embers of untended bonfires flicker and scatter waning cinders popping and hissing into the brisk night's air. The Scoutmaster locks up the facilities to avoid break-ins from unsavory, wild pokemon before turning in for the night.[break][break]

It's all so very peaceful, a word that is rarely afforded so much as an utterance here in Hoenn. But for the night at least they can expect to be treated to nothing more than the twinkle of the night's sky and the glow of their fires. Despite the odd cry of a wild pokemon in the distance echoes of the forest, nothing will harm them here. Would that Hoenn had more nights like these...[break][break][break][break][break][break]

His search for the Unown is obsessive; unrelenting. It isn't enough to find something worth bagging. He needs to find the one that solves the cipher. Anything to get an understanding as to the Unown report's true purpose. The Gastly barely registers except as a nuisance.

A text pings his phone, which he tends to promptly. Swiping open his pone, Adrian sees a picture from Rowan wearing possibly the ugliest holiday sweater ever seen: Worse yet, part of it sags over the side, with a second collar for Adrian to fill, presumably. Oh my God, who makes something like that?

Scratching at the chin stubble forming from the neglect, he realizes he's been neglecting himself. All over the quest for Unown which may or may not be of any help. Acting on a hunch was like that; you were constantly left wondering if what you were doing was worth it.

"So... I'm gonna get reimbursed for the pokeballs I wasted, right?" He didn't mean to be a Scrooge, but if Team Rocket was going to have him corral pokemon for a furnace, they were going to pay their way through the endeavor. It wasn't coming out of his pocket anymore.
