Poison Jab sunk into Bragi's back, a poison-type move causing an inordinate amount of pain in her weakened state. Then, as if to add insult to injury, she was dragged underwater. The electric-type was being drowned. Under the water, there was no real way for Kaida to command the young one, who clearly only had one chance at attack...and she took it, because Kaida would tell her, if she was going to lose, make sure the family had a chance to win. With only just enough space to reach a hand to her chest, Bragi managed to strum out a loud Overdrive. A combination of the electricity and sound, underwater no less, would hopefully defeat or severely weaken the opponent. Unfortunately, underwater with the attack, Bragi gasped in a breath of water, and promptly went limp, fainted. At her point of view, Kaida hurriedly whipped out a Pokeball and returned the Pokemon, clearly out if battle. [break][break]

A blast of water sent Ormr skidding back on the surface and, perhaps it was predictable, but he countered with another Acid Spray, Encore's hold was weakening, and the Ekans thought he'd be able to strike differently on his next attack.

Kaida listened intently as Ruby explained her Pokemon's own individual skills, mumbling under her breath was it went, "Darling,...Grace...Groove." And nodding as she ascertained their names, "They sound very helpful...I'll rely on you, Ruby. Can't really talk to Pokemon myself so, if things go wrong, can you try and have them talk it down?" She didnt expect to lose, but who knew the Pokemom it stole, hopefully not some champion team. [break][break]

She patted Jord on the shoulder, explaining briefly, "Me and Jord will go first and challenge it, if it attacks, Jord can Endure it." She directed her next words to the kangaroo-like saurian, "Are you ready, Jord?" At the Pokemon's nod, she let Ormr off her shoulders, the serpent slithering ahead until he reached the end of a street that expanded out into a clearing...abandoned building project, unfinished streets, whatever it was, it made the perfect place for a battle. Already there, the Oranguru sat peacefully, expectantly. Maybe it already knew they were coming and, like any good trainer, was waiting for the challenger. As Jord and Kaida entered, leaving Ormr at the entrance where he could enter with Ruby, it brandished a Pokeball and...waited. A good trainer. [break][break]

"Hmm, he's a good trainer. Come on in, we can start the battle together."

Draugr was starting to wonder if this whole trip was one royal fuck up. Why would Kaida put them on this floating death-trap, espicially if these mean people were able to attack so easily!? Two shapes swam away from others, Din and Njor, but the Dragapult didn't help. The recently evolved dragon had not yet formed the protective instincts her kind was known for, and quickly shrank away to safety when the screaming started. Maybe it would all be over, and Kaida would take care of it. [break][break]

"Not hurt bad." She had certainly bruised, but that was a matter for later, and her pulse pounded painfully under her skin when a horrible scream rang out. "We've got to move." Kaida urged, panic starting to press the crowd tighter and tighter, and she was afraid of what might happen if they were among the frightened when true danger struck. To that end, she looked up at their friend the Golurk as asked quickly, "Can he get us out of this crowd?" [break][break]

Snarling and hissing, Ormr finally escaped stomping feet in a crowd, but before he could even try and look for Kaida, he was face-to-face with some terribly scary big boots. The humans nearest the man, and his rapidly arriving allies were frozen in fear, and Ormr could only think that they were terribly tiny Mareep surrounded by Pyroar. Already caught, a woman struggled to free herself, mouth covered as other pirates unsheathed weaponry and Pokeballs. The normally unexpressive serpent looked back briefly where he knew Kaida and their friend were, and his mouth suddenly hung open in a mortifying snarl as he suddenly whipped back around and launched at the man, seizing his trapping arms in his jaws. The struck silent crowd suddenly screamed, jostling and trying to get away from the struggle and encroaching pirates. Morality wasn't an issue for the Ekans, and if the pirates wanted to play predator, he would do them better! [break][break]

Kaida hadn't got a very good look at the Braviary, but even she could note something was off about it. "I thought the Braviary was a little...odd." Pokemon were strong, but she didn't think most Pokemon were capable of breaking through a ceiling that easily while flying, never stopping. [break][break]

"When I saw the Braviary, it broke through the ceiling without stopping. I just thought it was strange, because I didn't think a Pokemon was capable of being so strong and fast so suddenly." She shook her head, "I don't know, it just struck me. I know Braviary are strong, but it felt different." It wasn't like mega evolution, a drastic and obvious change, but there was something there. "There was lots of Pokemon present, but we could probably tell which were known and which showed up with those attackers...it's a good idea." She praised quietly, feeling she could have helped identify escaping Pokemon had she not been attacked. She'd just have to rely on such people like Selena, they seemed good.

More drinks? Kaida shook her head rapidly as illeana reyes focused on Stormy Silph, actually a little relieved to see LANCE VOLLANS and the woman walk away, left her a little easier to deal with Illeana. Either way, she was glad that she was only drinking drinks with no alcohol....perhaps a little childish to be chasing sugar instead of alcohol but helpful in situations like this. [break][break]

She squeaks as Illeana takes her hand and starts dragging her away, too far from any of her other Pokemon, she calls out to Bragi, "Bragi! Help me!" She calls, and the Toxicitry pouts, she wanted to build a seaside sandhouse! Still, Kaida's eyes sharpened and the little one followed, bouncing to Illeana's side and burbling a greeting as Kaida indicated, "This is Bragi! A little one of mine." Here to make sure I don't lose you. [break][break]

She squeezed Illeana's hand, intent on keeping her near, "It smells like meat and fruits here,and I want both. What do you want, I'll get it."

Let it be known Kaida never refused an offer, especially regarding food. Except for Ormr, her group followed Lars into town, eating all the while...don't worry, they'd save some, they weren't gluttons! [break][break]

Svart looked around where she assumed that battle would be, clicking curiously. A battle here was not the type of battle she preceded, among rocky outcrops and dirt. Strange. It was strange for Kaida too, who usually preceded a battle with all her Pokemon present, not the rigid one on ones. Still, if it was required for more strength that could be seen and used, she'd do it. Rarely were fights done to one's advantage, right? [break][break]

"I'm ready, Svart, ready?" The Durant took her place in front of Kaida. Good. "Yes, one on one is just fine."

Bragi wasn't long for the battle, Kaida could tell. The way she trembled simply to get up from a Hydro Pump told that. Still, Kaida at least hoped she could stand to last until the Encore wore off, at least close to the duration end. On that note, she could not afford Bragi being harmed by another Mirror Coat, which meant..."Hug it, Bragi!" Her codenames for her Pokemon to do certain actions were always a little odd, but there was no other word for what Bragi was going to do. [break][break]

Mirror Coat was a deadly ender to battles, if you used long-distance attacks. The Tentacruel had to have taken quite a bit of damage from the charged Overdrive, an enormous attack using Bragi's ability and moves combined. While Nuzzle was a small attack, more electricity was going to hurt. Bragi ran like she was waiting for the opportunity, switching targets and leaping at the Tentacruel instead. Just a littke touch would send a jolt through the Tentacruel, unable to paralyze currently, but sure to harm. She would try to cling, trying to hold the Tentacruel near her, so that Ormr could move. While Encore was still happening, and the Haze had reset any defensive drop, Ormr only moved closer. He was aware he hadn't taken much damage compared to Bragi, and could only press his advantage. Another burst of Acid Spray zipped at Primarina, intent on forcing either multiple Hazes or an acceptance of fallen defenses.

Kaida's eyes widened as a whoop rang out, signalling that the watermelon was split, by her hand! A swelling glee rose in her chest, only to be replaced by a nagging irritation as a man (LANCE VOLLANS) took a piece of the hard-earned fruit. "Thank you." She struggled to spit out an acknowledgment to the compliment, moving out of the way and waving confusingly at a woman with a similar drink to her (Stormy Silph). [break][break]

Irritation aside, she had the watermelon, and was one bite away from the sweet, sweet taste of fruit. Most of her Pokemon avoided the prize, having no reason to eat the fruit, except for Bragi. The Toxicitry ran up to her and held up both hands, receiving a piece from the now charmed Kaida. [break][break]

Selena Desmarais turned out to be nearby, and Kaida only just managed to raise a hand in greeting before she noticed another coming. illeana reyes, but thoroughly smelling of drink. She noted curiously that Illeana moved to hug Stormy, a stranger to her, and confusingly stared for a moment before Illeana moved towards her. Hurriedly, as the hug headed her way, Kaida moved the precious watermelon piece to her side. Impact. Kaida's one-armed hug was tight and thorough, despite her attitude suggesting a lack of affection. "Hello Illean...um, you smell like...er, do you want some food?" She brandished her efficiently split prize, eating helped with drunkenness, right? [break][break]

Behind her, Bragi darted behind Kaida, mouth full but peering past Kaida at the hugging woman like a curious child.

The blindfold was over Kaida's eyes. How had she gotten here? [break][break]

Right. Because the Pachirisu Float looked completely delectable (and yes, it was), and she had found coming here without a swimsuit didn't exactly make her blend in. With her focus on saving money for food, one would think that she didn't have any swimsuits, but those people would be wrong. For aquatic missions, she had a suit. Not a bikini, just a one piece swimsuit, but she didn't think she stood out too much. Perhaps showed off the scarring on her back and arms a little too much, but she didn't notice most of the people caught staring. [break][break]

Her Pokemon frolicked in the sand and ocean, except for Kjoll, who she hadn't found a large enough space for him on the crowded beach. Avoiding the people who took today as a drinking day, Kaida wandered near the watermelon splitting and, in an act that surprised herself, spoke, "I wanna split it." [break][break]

So here she was, salivating over the taste of something sweet to eat, she raised the stick over her head and swung her dizzy self at the watermelon. [break][break]

Jotun's tail is thumping the ground like a little puppy's, the sheer strength cracking the ground. Of all her Pokemon, Kaida thought that he was her friendliest, he barely judged. All he saw was a friendly woman helping Kaida out. [break][break]

All things considered, Kaida didn't actually expect to receive any water, but paused only long enough to wait and watch, making sure the woman actually meant it, then took the drink. It wasn't like she was joking when she said if Isra was asking, it would be better if she had a drink ready. [break][break]

It only struck her that this was very strange of a stranger after a few sips, and her thoughts poured out on her tongue without much filter, "Why are you doing this? I don't know you...do I?"

Bragi shrieked, only a purple blur blasting backwards, sent spluttering into the waters. She burst back onto land, sparks flying off her body as she snarled. Was she going to try the attack again, even with the blast still visible on her chest? "Bragi! Don't!" She roared at the same moment Ormr hissed at the young one, both their voices telling one message. Calm down! Another blast like that would surely defeat Bragi, who sucked in a shuddering breath, barely cooling off, and only clenched her fists. [break][break]

That's better, go Bragi. [break][break]

Light rushed up and down her mohawk frill, the Toxicitry bouncing on her feet as she sent her electricity to her muscles instead of attacking. Shift Gear, a move typically seen on mechanical Pokemon, boosted both her physical strength and speed, and she rushed forward, leaping across pieces of land towards her two enemies. [break][break]

Ormr could only feel the Encore echoing in his head, and reluctantly pressed forward, the only thing he could do. He slithered into the water, breaching on land a little bit closer, a little more in the Tentacruel's face. If distract was all he could do at the moment, distract he could do. Another Acid Spray was fired off, towards the fairy-type. If the Tentacruel was the guard, then Ormr wold be certain it stayed on him. [break][break]

Kaida watched carefully where the Tentacruel was, whatever Pokemon it chose to confront decided what Bragi would do.

The violence underwater had still gone unnoticed, if only shown by the Wailmer becoming more restless-looking. Din and Njor dodged away, only able to watch in horror as the pirates realized that that boatgoers were focused on one side of the boat, and directed their attacks to the empty side, creating an entry point in the side in less than a minute. Carvanha were known cowards, typically only able to attack in a group, and Njor was no exception, frozen in place. In contract, Gorebyss were known as vicious and brave predators, attacking in fluid-drinking rushes. Only a few pirates managed to throw themselves into the hole before a burst of Blizzard froze the hole...and the hull of the ship. They were trapped in place, and Njor and Din found themselves fleeing for their lives as a few pirates moved to pursue. Din's attack did nothing to stop them, only slow, as the rest began to clamber onto deck. [break][break]

Kaida was not able to read the unease of the Wailmer in time, their expressions more foreign to her and, honestly, she was trying to be good and listen to Illeana. "Very cu-" [break][break]

She was lucky she didn't bite her tongue, the way the ship lurched and sent her rib-first into the rail before proceeding to...stay still? Kaida froze, the cries of the people around her filling her head with nonsense. "Illeana! Ormr! Are you ok!?" She felt her voice didn't even break the roaring of human voices. Draugr would be fine, it was her two visible companions she was worried about. From his resting place, Ormr let out a shocked hiss as weight slammed onto his back, squirming free and flopping to the deck in a terrible whirlwind of confusion. Indeed fine, Draugr held her breath and stayed invisible. New smells were coming near, and their voices sounded terribly mean! [break][break]

When the first screams rang out, the crowd was still too thick to even see the incoming threat.

Perhaps it's a good thing that no concern is intended, because Kaida doesn't believe that any concern would be directed at her, at least by a stranger. She curls her knees closer, some pain dissipating at the Gardevoir's help, "Thank you." She directs to the actually concerned one. [break][break]

A bark of laughter escaped Kaida, "Death's Door!?" Too convienent of words, for someone like her, who had entered and seemed eager to get as close as possible again, if only to make up for it. "I've had much, much worse than this, really." Perhaps she should own that phrase, anybody who died could likely say they'd seen worse than everyone. [break][break]

Water...might be a problem, she just remembered, "I, um, ran out a little while ago." Perhaps an hour? "I don't really see why you're asking, unless you're giving me some." That would be very much appreciated, if her situation wasn't obvious.
