Kaida can only see the tell-tale flash of electricity before she retreats and presses herself against the wall, seeing Discharge snake past her. The battle in the alleyway was getting fiercer. Silk closed his eyes against the flash, the electricity harmlessly running over his scales and onto the ground. Unfortunately, Hel was not so lucky, shrieking even as her natural grass-type body tried to resist the attack. Kaida tapped the wall, calling the raptor Pokemon towards her, where she promptly returned the Grovyle. [break][break]

Wind attacks and electricity. It was time for Svart to see the battles they had. The Pokeball cracked open, the Durant in front of her, looking up in confusion. Help him. The message got through to the bug, movement of Kaida's hands being as easy to read as sounds for the insect. She stared at the alley, calculating and determining something in that insectoid way of hers, then charged in. [break][break]

Hearing something clattering towards him, Silk waited until it was near before Digging, leaving the Durant charging forward in a vicious Iron Head, right towards the fairy. It smelled weaker, and the Durant was predisposed to go after the easier target.

"It feels crazy, but possible." Kaida answered as if Selena wasn't there, not sure how much she had actually seen. It was all too convenient for so many events to be interconnected, and she doubted it was the fault of those that stopped the monster before. Unlike some, she tried to believe in her allies, at least to believe they were trying to accomplish something logical. [break][break]

The explosion didn't even resemble the traditional explosion, lingering under her eyes as the colors faded away, and yet her stomach flipped, swirling nausea whitening her face. "You got a video?" Her eyes brightened, "Then they can see, it was there, and someone must have had it." Idiots, the whole lot of those that found it easier to believe a hero would turn evil, than an enemy could suddenly appear. [break][break]

"Did kill me." Kaida corrected glumly, "It happened fast but, when the explosion happened, I tried to jump on a Braviary that escaped from where the explosion happened." She looked up seriously, no time to doubt what she was saying, "There was a man on the Braviary too, and when I jumped, then someone attacked." She pulled her lips down, struggling to keep a neutral face, "Maybe they killed me for the opportunity of it, or maybe they were protecting an ally of theirs." She believed the second option more, if only to believe the enemy was more logical than spite, but the option was still there. [break][break]

"I have to find them for this, if something didn't bring me back, I'd be dead right now. I can't accept that."

Kaida couldn't read a room very well, but she could read her Pokemon, and Svart was a little tense. She could tell Lars was fearing her, and was currently stuck between two options. Lay further and appear non-threatening, or rise up and make him back away. Yes, Kaida knew this man, but she didn't. Kaida met eyes with the steel ant and, not even certain if it understood, it did choose to stay...relatively peaceful looking. "She won't hurt anyone...the most she have done is try to steal berries." Kaida attempted to assure Lars, understanding of the fact that the insect was a little unnerving, possessing nearly no expression. [break][break]

Kaida paused momentarily, mulling over her experiences before choosing the easier of the questions. "I woke up in a hospital, so they checked me over...even if it hurts, if they didn't find anything wrong then, it's just a nuisance to me. Not a real burn." Anything than to be back there, under that much scunity. Her fingers found the Durant nearby, rapping out a nervous beat, "But I did talk with...two people." She raised one finger, "One was Illeana...she's a fri...ally, of mine. She's safe, a kind woman." The blossom of a smile died abruptly, "Then...Fernando, I'm sorry, we met by luck and I didn't want to run, that would certainly be worse than staying, I thought." Even saying it out loud, it sounded logical, but she didn't imagine the strange shame that burned her face. So quick, and she didn't even mess up, she met the man by accident. So what was this? What she wanted to do? "Other than that meeting, I was trying to introduce Svart here to my life. A new Pokemon like her, she doesn't know who I know, not to eat what we can't, how to battle with me. I thought it would be good to introduce her to someone I know, like you." She pointing at Lars, speaking carefully, "This is Lars. He is family to us. His Pokemon too." [break][break]

Svart clicked. Family? Looking nothing like her!?

While her story held no privacy to her, Kaida does tilt her head with some surprise as it goes completely uninterrupted, absolutely listened to and unscathed. It even ended with Illeana with no fear! [break][break]

Then again, I'd never know if she's lying. Nonetheless, she chose to believe. [break][break]

"I'm...glad you're reasonable." She scratched the surface of her own separation to others, she mentioned not her own initial fleeing, not an orphanage, not clawing towards Rangerhood. She still felt the other woman knew her better, a little at least, "I usually get people asking lots of difficult questions," Questions she couldn't remember the answers to, "Thanks. It's a lot." How sad, to thank someone for something so simple, but it was something. She couldn't remember a time where that story got told and listened to. A simple beast. She didn't want it to be denied or questioned. It was the reason for herself, and it couldn't be refuted. So yes, she needed to thank her for recognizing that line in the sand. It didn't mean they couldn't be allies, or even family. Creatures different from each other worked together, after all. Would they become an unstoppable force? Charming thought, that one. "Stilio..." Kaida smiles, already catching differences between her own Charizard and him. She wouldn't forget him anytime soon. She waited for Illeana's next words, they had to think alot, didn't they? "I don't know." Her honest opinions came out in force, "I don't know how strong you are, or your Pokemon." A small smirk crossed her face, "If we raced, or fought, I'd probably beat you...and I got that way just being me, so I guess we challenged things that were harder and harder, not even realizing it." When did a predator graduate from Rattata to Stantler? When it decided it was ready. "You just...decide. Don't be stupid, but it's not like you're weak, you can probably do harder things already." "It won't be next time...there has to be a next time." Kaida assured Illeana, leaning forward before abruptly jerking back, as if rethinking her actions, "Not even heroes win all the time." Perhaps it was a childish thought, but it was foolish to think you could win all the time, especially against an unknown enemy, "I sound...hah, simple, but whining how everything went wrong doesn't help us. Just...you, I can't very well control you, or anybody else...hopefully everyone makes less mistakes, I'm just trying to make few mistakes." Win or lose, it was determined by how well both sides did. Predator caught prey when prey made too many mistakes, prey got away when predator made too many mistakes, and neither side would ever make no mistakes. She could only determine how to lessen the mistakes she made, no more, no less. [break][break]

Kaida could only look upon Illeana in the corner of her eyes, "Huh, you're not like me, you have lots of people." She didn't ask any names, deciding Illeana could specify if she wanted, "Lots of people have lots of people." She could only imagine it was a confusing tangle of connections...perhaps that's why she was worried, she didn't want to see a connection severed, and the resulting retaliation, "Please...protect them, then. Just...just be careful." She couldn't just say it outright, so direct, and fearing that she might harm more than help if she spoke it: [break][break]

Don't kill them unless you mean to eat or until they will kill you and your loved ones...and I'm pretty sure you don't kill to eat.

The more Selena talked, the more Kaida's heart pounded. A monster that destroyed a city being controlled the same way as a Pokemon? Without a portal to even announce that it had arrived? Even still, she appeared calm enough, face steeled and only appearing a little upset. A fine personality to discuss this with, as she didn't seem too freaked out, though fear found itself rooted inside. [break][break]

Kaida tried not to droop. In all honesty, her death was never private. Everyone already knew, and she didn't think it was correct to say she ever had much privacy, or even cared. Still, talking for her own death, not even knowing how people would react, was rather frightening. "I never got to the roots, I only saw the explosion happen, and then tried to escape." Her smile was a show of bared teeth, "And then I suppose this got interesting. I might have been able to look down and see it...but then I died." Her nails skipped over the water bottle, digging into her own fingers, "It came from the area of the explosion, very fast, a type of biting attack." One of her hands broke away and rubbed her side, "Sorry, I never got to see what happened to the creature, or who even attacked me."

"That's idiotic." She shook her head, lips curling back, "Why do they let you be a councilman, then?" If he was so disliked, how did his leadership survive? "Still, even if so-called allies were happy, I still say there's more logic in targeting you. I'd be certain I would be taking out somebody skilled." He had the right point, everybody knew him, and judging from the fanfare they were given when she battled him, she could trust he was considered skilled. She still found it a better idea to attack a known threat than an unknown. "If someone killed me because they thought I was "malicious"," The very word pulled a sneer on her mouth, "Then shouldn't they say so? I would think they would try to capture me, or is killing something that is ok now?" She had to follow rules just to survive, and she hoped it wasn't ok just because the incident was very exciting. Oh. Right. Her escape was a very impossible task. [break][break]

"I tried to jump on a Braviary." She explained, hands moving with her words as if they were very eager to help the explanation, "It burst through the floor and, well, I wanted to live, so I jumped to grab it." Her face fell, "I missed it, the ones on the Pelipper grabbed me, and the attack hit me from below." Her hands dropped, the explanation over, "Naturally, I don't remember anything after that, apologies."

Indeed, that was logical enough, she supposed. Still didn't mean she had any reason to tell him she did know the two. Whether or not he figured it out, her two rescuers were nowhere near the tree, they weren't dangerous, and she wasn't leading the conversation to a place where her allies were questioned. "You're the better target." She indicated towards him, tilting her head, "If I battle a group of Pokemon, when the leader is defeated, they scatter, even just for a little while. I'm just a Ranger, and you are someone important, there's a lot to gain in you if they wished to hurt more people. Unless they're stupid...or emotional. I heard lots of people do things out of spite, and if they killed me for no reason, I at least know they will do more unnecessary things like that." Even she could operate with some logic, and she knew killing for no reason was a huge way to gain enemies.

Her eyes flickered to Fernando, and promptly ignored what he had said. She wasn't responsible for the other people there, nor did that change the fact that the enemy was already inside when she had entered. [break][break]

She almost opened her mouth to correct Fernando, knowing that the Pelipper owner was Alexei, decidedly not female, but she kept her tongue still. Like Lars, she didn't wish to harm one of her rescuers. The Delphox was harder to remember, having seen it only at the beginning of the incident, but she didn't forget a Pokemon. Selena. Certainly not an enemy of hers. [break][break]

"Not the Delphox. The Pelipper and Delphox owners saved me...well, dragged me out of the building, I heard. I did see them, we were flying up, and somebody killed me as we escaped the explosion." With that, she could assume it was somebody who caused the explosion, or knew it would happen. Why else would they waste precious time killing a Ranger? "I don't know why they killed me, though. There must have been someone better to kill, like you." As she spoke, she didn't speak if any way to identify Selena or Alexei, they were partners of hers in that moment. She wouldn't give them up, but she would voice curiosities of hers.

Kaida grunted at the casual happiness, not even certain if she should thank the man or not. Casual conversation escaped her. She didn't like the aimless nature of it, the feeling of no meaning with words she knew had meaning. [break][break]

"No thank you. It doesn't stop me from doing anything." A phantom burn couldn't be healed with medicine, and it caused no problems for her. She didn't need to waste any time healing something that might not even be there. "It is where I was bitten, it's a good clue...fire-type, likely." A bite suggests a dark-type, but she didn't want to assume anything too quickly. [break][break]

Her hands found her chin, her thoughts flowing into words with little to no filter, "Oh. Ok, that sounds like how I imagined, lots did happen...I'll have to find who killed me, have to return the favor." She spoke like she was discussing catching Pokemon, a simple enough endeavour. She turned seriously towards Fernando, hands struggling to stay by her sides and not twist into her clothing, "I have no name to call those, er, culprits. Do you think they are somebody? You have been here a long time, and people have been fighting here a long time. Are they anyone this region knows?" Even a name could lead her hunt into a more manageable direction. [break][break]

Her voice was tinged with respect, but had a sort of quickness, of ignoring a situation. This conversation would be to her benefit, she needed information, not to apologize for the past, for things she didn't even cause.
