LATE SEPTEMBER — as ultra wormholes are sighted in the seas of hoenn, the region begins to be tainted by poisons, the source of which is unknown. parts of hoenn's seas darken with toxic waste, like oil spills. for this reason, head scientist, lucas lane, has entrusted volunteers with a special antidote formula that he has helped create with elite four, thomas benoit's sludge sample.[break][break][break]

a swarm of carvinine seem to have become dangerously aggressive after a run-in with some sludge. within their maws, several trainers and their pokemon have become ensnared, and their lives are at risk. the league has dispatched volunteers and rangers to help rescue the victims before they succumb to poisons before relocating the carnivine to rehabilitation centres.[break][break][break]

Stormy is armed to the teeth with what looks like water-guns. She isn't entirely sure that it will work, but she's watched enough videos ont he internet to know that spicy water apparently opens venus fly traps - aka Carnivines. Or maybe it was lemon water. Good thing she brought both.[break][break]

But while she makes a fool of herself with waterguns, her Pokemon take the lead by attacking and distracting the Carnivines long enough to rescue those trapped inside their maws. Bulbasaur seems to expertly handle this by using its vines to pull smaller Pokemon to safety. Houndoom and Arcanine seem just as effective by burning the berserk wild Pokemon and rescuing those before they, too, succumbed to a firey defeat.[break][break]

By now he'd gotten used to the league asking for help on a patrol.

There was a whole routine down for it now. They made the call, the said the town the threat and the possible losses. It he was nearby he came running. If he was too far out he could make the attempt but if he wasn't fast enough, closer Rangers or volunteers got it done. It seemed serendipitous that he'd been standing in front of the Pokémon Center's PC in Rustboro after paying a visit to his mother.

'Carnivine' had been infected with that problematic sludge and according to the PC Carnivine were a particularly nasty kind of grass-type. Maybe he'd ask Cait what she knew about them later. For now he had work to handle.

At first he'd thought to bring an assault team of fire types until the debrief file stated the occurrence was specifically in the woods of Petalburg. It only took Salamence minutes to fly them in from Rustboro. From his hip came three fliers a poison frog, a ditto that could mimic any one of them and the fire breathing dragon he'd rode in on. "Fletchling, Murkrow; hit the team with TAILWIND."

The winds kicked up around his team of six, augmenting their speed considerably.

"Go. Stop any plant that tries to bite you. Protect everything else." Scattering them about he let them all work freely to protect the trainers and wild pokémon from the agitated vines. Only Salamance and his FLAMETHROWER were kept nearby just to keep the woods safe.

After it was all done he caught sight of Moana Reyes and abducted the kid for an hour or so to catch up over some cheese-fries in Petalburg.

as he feels the weight of his pokemon lighten with LEVITATE, marcel lets go to allow his sylveon to float beside him. the fairy-type is surprisingly agile in the air, dodging whatever stray attacks come up its way as league forces make their way towards the trapped trainers. a few moments pass, and he can't get away with doing nothing for much longer.

the dubwool's cotton guard ensures that the normal-type was ready for whatever challenge may arise to this situation. kyle allows the pokemon to go ahead and do its thing.

"guard swap," he commands.

a guard swap with the boosts from his move allows the victims to at least bear the pain from the carnivine's hold until other people can extract them from their predicament. the process was surgical to allow it to go without problem for both sides, with the move allowing better leeway for the other respondents.

he's pretty sure the girafarig once belonged to a ranger before rocket had seized it into their arsenal. the memory of that particular venture is hazy in his mind; the slateport invasion saw them commandeer a large number of trained, valuable pokemon very quickly.

his hunch is supported by the fact that this girafarig would alternate between either stubbornly insisting he stop to help every person and pokemon in need or, alternatively, affixing a pleading doe-eyed stare on him until he would relent.

today, it is going to be the latter of the two.

dominic heaves a sigh. "go on, do your thing."

Moana faced down a group of Carnivine. The large, carnivorous grass-types were impressive and imposing-- he'd have to see if he could go about catching one later.

But for now, they were a threat. Moana watched as the group of Carnivine approached a cornered man. To his credit, the man was defiant, with his Carbink floating in front of him. The Carbink attacked the approaching Carnivine with a Power Gem, but it was outnumbered, and the grass-types advanced and knocked out the rock-type with well-placed Power Whips.

Moana decided that he had hid in the bushes for long enough. He pushed the buttons on two of his Pokeballs, and Cova and Polu appeared right next to him, the Druddigon roaring its challenge angrily at the group of Carnivine while the shiny Nidoking snorted. The Carnivine turned around, facing this new threat, but they were blindsided by the charging dragon who barreled into them with an Outrage, sending one flying and crashing into a wall. Not pausing in his rampage, Cova turned to the next Carnivine, roaring and running at it as well. Polu lunged forward, the Nidoking's arm coated in a purple glow as he slammed it into another Carnivine.

Moana smiled. It was good to be a trainer.

It was as the carnivine were empowered by mother nature itself. Moving with the speed of a flash flood carnivine lunged toward another civilian ripe for picking. Pixels engulf both Porygon2 and the Carnivine as speed swap took effect.

With its newfound speed Porygon2 flew in front of the Carnivine, blocking its path before releasing a devastating zap cannon at point blank range. The electricity tore through the grass type's body. It ravaged Carnivine's insides, leaving them charred and smoking.
