He has never dared to get this close to the corrupted legendary, and yet now he climbs aboard its back with legs of jello. Zeraora clings to Gavin, in turn, its claws pressing into his shoulder.[break][break] "After it!"[break][break] They give chase to the darkness.[break][break] They are fewer than they were before, but with no less determination — once more, Gavin's Pokemon break themselves against the wall that is Necrozma. Lugia screeches as they draw close, the sound resonating as SHADOW DOWN aims to cut through Necrozma's defenses. Zeraora CHARGES itself with electricity before letting off another bolt of THUNDER.[break][break] Gavin grabs a pokeball at random and tosses it, revealing an EELEKTRIK who'd only recently come into his possession. It fights as brave as any other, COILING like a serpent before rushing toward Necrozma with a WILD CHARGE.[break][break] Gavin is too close.[break][break] As the light-devourer turns its attention their way, LUCARIO realises what must be done. It is Gavin's oldest partner, his STARTER, obtained by him as a Riolu to keep him company during long nights of studying at university. They have grown together, learned together, joined Rocket together... but they will not die together. Not now. Lucario makes his decision in the breadth of a moment, DETECTING the threat and SACRIFICING ITSELF in its trainer's stead.
