Scientists and technicians bustled about a research facility in Mauville City, trying to gather data on the pokemon entrusted to their care. Adrian's Malamar was among their number, hiding away in the aquarium prepared for some of their tests.

"We're getting the readings. Now we just need the specimen to cooperate—" Malamar can sense the meaning behind their words and shows some trepidation when they turn their attention towards it. Its natural instinct was to CAMOUFLAGE itself before retreating deeper into the aquarium...

The researchers become immersed in their screens and keyboards as they gather the data and begin the more tedious yet incredible work of science.

Yui had sent her kecleon to complete a pokemon job for marco's tech. They actually sent her a special request since she did a lot of freelance work for them in fact. She had access to a wide variety of pokemon in fact to help them with their research, she was happy to oblige of course at the beheast of her actually being able to see the results herself if they'd share it with her. She watched as her Kecleon walked into an all white room and waited for her command "Camouflage, kecleon." [break][break]

she asked as the pokemon obeyed...however this goof wasn't able to alter the red stripe on it's stomach..she face palmed a bit at her kecleon's inability to change color of the stripe on it's stomach. However the scientist were intrigued as to why this was the case so she was at least glad it was able to help them...somehow...really though kecleon? Why did your species evolve in such a way?? she squinted at him as if also judging him slightly.

a special arena was set below an observatory where scientists study their subjects. one of them mans a control panel while another one holds a tablet, making personal comments about their observation on the tests conducted to the dragalge that sits in the center of the field.

"we're trying misty terrain now," the tablet wielding scientist tells his partner.

mist starts to form from the floor below the dragalge. both of the sub-types of the dragalge reacts differently with the fairy-typing, and data taken from its effort is worth recording for their experiment.

the pokemon camouflages with the mists. its biological structure changes in accordance to the terrain, with his physical appearance matching the pinky hue of the gas and his scales adjusting itself to appropriate the dragalge to its newfound typing.

the scientists records the notable parts of the transformation on their tablet.

Thanks to her brother's generosity, Adrian had loaned Serena his Deerling so that she could go and get a little extra cash too. It didn't come without pulling some teeth though. But it turned out if she bugged him enough he'd budge. The Deerling seemed happy either way, glad to be of service.

The scientist of Macro Cosmos wanted to test out some tech they had managed to developed and needed some pokémon that could listen and take orders. Seemed simple enough for a quick and easy buck so Serena sent the Deerling off on her way. The scientist prepared a tundra-like simulation for the pokémon.

Leaving it in a room of sub-zero temperatures. Their idea was to analyze the target in an environment of it's weakness and see how their tech was affected. The Deerling wouldn't be left in this uncomfortable situation for long. But desiring to please she did as she was told. Curling into herself to keep herself warm as she activated Camouflage.

The scientist murmur amongst themselves as the discuss their findings. Most of them nodding in approval. Soon the test would conclude and the Deerling would be escorted out of the tundra-like environment.

The lab was a sterile environment with stern faced scientists going about their tasks, clad in stereotypical white coats and shuffling about in sensible shoes. Some of the most distinguished minds worked in places such as these, isolated from the rest of the world to work at peeling away the layers of reality in order to understand it.

So when a screech broke through the orderly calmness of a section of the lab, a great many bleary, caffeined eyes blinked in confusion. Heads peeked out from wide-open doors, curiosity drawing them to the source of the noise. An unfortunate intern stopped in her tracks in the middle of the corridor, the papers in her hands flying all over when something slammed into her.

"It's run away! Quick, get him!"

A gold hoop blinked from the shadows, quickly followed by the sudden appearance of a green lizard. The Kecleon cackled gleefully at the people running after him, doing a little childish dance before the eyes of a stupefied intern before using CAMOUFLAGE to blend into the environment. Only a thin stripe across his belly and a golden hoop remained as he resumed his escape.

Half an hour, two fired lab assistants and a trashed geological exhibition later, one of the scientists had the brilliant idea of fetching Mr Smee's pokeball to recall the uncontrollable pokemon. A brief period of silence followed the action, embarrassment laying like a thick cloud over the facility's top scientists.

Eventually, they shuffled away and silently agreed not to mention the event ever again.

No one knows except those who can spot the blaring obvious red strip that remains on Kecleon’s stomach. Fernando’s Pokemon is by no means entertained by this task but it carries out the job without protest. Each time they reissue the prompt its changes color. No matter what background they put it up against, the Pokemon continues to adapt.

It’s half the reason Fernando keeps it.

as the scientist observes the dragalge floating in the tank a school of wishiwashi swim by obscuring his vision. when they pass the water dragon is nowhere to be found. the scientist takes this down as a possible note of uncooperative and when he looks up at the tank again the pokemon is visible once more. only...it seems closer? with squinting eyes the researcher could only speculate about its behavior.

then a sharpedo past by, and it was gone once again.

this time the scientist let out a low grumble as he wrote down on his notes. looking up one more time expecting to see the pokemon all he could see was the vastness of the tank. then the vision in front of him began to mutate as the head of the dragalge suddenly materialized slowly before its whole body appeared in a flash, coming out of the CAMOFLAUGE it hid itself in. it all happened so fast that the scientist was left startled and fell onto his arse. the dragalge just floated there and watched.

Josh wasn't entirely sure what was going on, but they needed Pokemon who were able to Camoflauge, so that was that. "Florges, you're up" Josh called out to the Florges that had been a guest in his garden for some time now. "Camoflauge" he brought up to the Florges, as it began to slowly fade into the background. It began to move from color to color, and it was the color based off the flower that the Florges had taken its colors off where it faded the most.

Interesting, he thought. Did it work best for the color the Florges took? Something to look into.
