As always, THEO BECKETT proves a reliable agent.

Blood sprays from a wound opened in @archon's chest, and Gavin's amber gaze burns with muted triumph. Rocket's traitor would fall.

But Dragonite's fury summons the wrath of a hurricane to challenge Theo. Through their connection, the shadowed Lugia feels Gavin's alarm as he watches the scene unfold. The complexity of emotion is deemed irrelevant but for one thing: Beckett was to be protected.

It flaps its wings, a dreadful wind billowing in their wake, and bends the HURRICANE to its will. Wind howls, twists, and redirects toward the League.

Aiming to capitalize on the edge granted by the Cotton Spore, Gavin whistles sharp to draw Corviknight's attention. A signal sees it swoop low over the Spikes scattered by the League, DEFOGGING the area and neutralizing the danger.

Eelektross, though dazed from its impact with the Aggron, looks to slither past it and sink its fangs into @archon. The DARK attack would LEECH life from him, further pushing him toward the ending Rocket desired.

Billi Marsh's Arbok, brought low by Adrian Malcolm and finished off by Gavin's Corviknight, slithers back to consciousness as miasma takes hold. FIERY FANGS are bared toward an angered spirit, exorcising it in a viper's strike.

It's Locke Jamison's Togekiss that proves most useful.

A brilliant flash, and suddenly Gavin is TELEPORTED somewhere else. The bottom-most floor, shrouded by mist and miasma, where their quarry awaits: an ancient Yamask, wailing its distress as several figures close in.

a nidoking rampages across the space and leaps towards the latias with a mighty MEGAHORN, looking to smack it away from its trainer to give the gliscor an opportunity to come swooping in.

its wings cut through the air with an ACROBATICS before its stinger pierces into angelo's hand for a POISON STING. it reaches for the pokeball, grabs it, then soars back and lands on its trainer.

nidoking attempts to make its way back to its trainer as well.

a HAZE spreads out, doing little against the TAILWIND, but perhaps enough to cover their retreat.

with the pokeball in hand, he pockets it away and starts to make his retreat.

With his miasma concentrated on the floor above, Gavin's hold over the possessed Pokemon weakens. So too is he slowed without his spiking adrenaline, lending angelo vestri the perfect opportunity to snag Yamask.

Even Gavin doesn't expect the timely intervention of @fay. A brilliant burst of flame lights Pyre's gloomy interior moments before something slams through the cavern's wall. It's not a Pokemon that Gavin recognizes. He knows only that, for now, it is not looking at Rocket.

A Pokemon Gavin does recognize is THEO BECKETT's Nidoking. Gliscor snags Yamask's pokeball, and Gavin calls loud over the din.

"I'll cover you, go."

Miasma surges and swirls around him as he reaches into his blazer, returning the Pokemon from the floor above. In their place, a Tyranitar and Roserade both sporting black crystal corruption emerge square between League and Rocket.

Tyranitar's emergence summons a twin SANDSTORM, whirling sands mingled with DARK CRYSTAL SHARDS. It stings the skin of ally and enemy alike, but provides an extra layer to Theo's haze to cover a retreat. Along the ground between friend and foe, Roserade scatters a field of DARK SPIKES glittering with poison.

Perhaps in some desperate bid to escape the hell it's found itself in, the possessed Togekiss SWITCHES places with an unlikely ALLY. Shadow Lugia's presence alone returns PRESSURE to the air, and Gavin breathes a quiet sigh of relief as its wings cast their shadow over him. With both Pokemon now on the floor above, his miasma relinquishes its hold... but, he thinks, it has done enough.
